Ate here on a holiday weekend and got to sit out on the patio which was lovely. It has a great terrace that's filled with flowers for a great dinner ambiance. I got the monthly special which was a Cavatappi with vodka sauce, onions, garlic, burrata, basil in a skillet and I got it with gluten free penne. While it was a bit on the expensive side, there was so much food I took home at least half of it. My fiance got the gnocchi tricolore which he said was fantastic and a great way to try multiple different sauces. Such a fun experience trying a place off state street!

Went to the legendary Arnoldi's. Sat outside on the patio...actually the bocce court. Beautiful weather, umbrellas, aperol spritz...it was like being in Italy. Great service and waiter. All the entrees were solid, and prices were reasonable. Loved the venue and hospitality. Highly recommend this place for a family dinner or date night, what an institution!

Thanksgiving at Arnoldi's I felt compelled to be there after so many years. I started with the Chainti wine a side salad and their homemade bread. My entree was Lasagna. From the moment I arrived I was welcomed and remembered as I had called and requested to sit at the Bar. Extremely happy with the service. Arnoldi's has always maintained a special atmosphere with old world atmosphere. Arnoldi's is a Iconic Restaurant homegrown. Thanks the Great Santa Barbara experience. Ronnie S

We had reservations and were seated on the patio. The atmosphere on the patio was amazing. Service was a bit slow but we didn't mind at all. I want to say the owner checked on us multiple times and was so attentive. He was so sweet. My husband had an espresso martini - said it was delicious. For apps we had the arancini balls and calamari. The calamari was very fresh and had the perfect amount of breading. The portions are big so we ended up splitting an entree. We had the tricolored gnocchi and added meatballs. Unbelievably good. We also had the lemon blueberry cheesecake - which was the only thing that was so so. Would come back in a heartbeat! I'll be dreaming of those gnocchi for a while

Really cute environment and nice staff! Good for big parties. There are options for most. We had a large party and they were pretty fast. Chicken was a little dry but overall good experience

Fried calamari which was a bit chewy but was flavorful.

Highly rated Italian restaurant in Santa Barbara. Located in a neighborhood and seems to have been around a while. A little dated but a full bar and a nice sized dining room. Has a big dining area for large parties in back. The entire staff was very nice and we chatted with Our busboy who was a nice young guy. Amani? Said when he was younger kids called him Manny. Very personable. Our waiter was efficient and the hostess were very friendly. The service all and all was great. Thank you for a wonderful meal.

My wife and I came here over the weekend to celebrate, and days later we're still talking about it - just not for the reasons we'd hoped. For a bill north of $100, the experience was surprisingly disappointing. The food was bland across the board. The bread was decent, but that's about all I can compliment. I'm a chicken parm fanatic, and this one completely missed the mark. I've had better versions at chain restaurants, which is not something I expected to say about a place positioning itself as fresh, handmade Italian. Then came the spider. A black spider crawled across our table during dinner. We pointed it out to our waiter, who flicked it away and walked off. A minute later it was crawling back toward us, and my wife ended up killing it herself. We laughed because what else are you supposed to do? The restaurant is undeniably pretty and clearly built for photos, but once you start paying attention, the shine wears off. We noticed dust in several areas and bugs around the window seals, which made the spider incident feel less like bad luck and more like part of a larger issue. I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, especially for a place with so much potential. The atmosphere is beautiful, but atmosphere alone can't carry a restaurant. At this price point, the food should be memorable, the service should be attentive, and cleanliness should never be a question mark. I hope management takes a closer look because the foundation is there. Right now, though, the experience doesn't match the price.

Incredible food and great service! We got seats at the bar and had a wonderful time. The bread was also really good.

Definitely highly recommend coming here if you want great Italian food plus an amazing setting. The food was amazing! We ordered everything and it was all amazing. My favorite was mine.... . I got the Spaghetti Carbonara. The service here was great as well we were always tended to and kept an eye on. The outdoor patio was absolutely beautiful at night.

Came in for an early dinner to celebrate quite a few things; Our son's graduation, our anniversary, & new job. We ordered 4 main dishes 2 appetizers 4 drinks total was $215. (not including tip) The service was just ok, one of our plates was wrong, I had to wave down the server for everything... to order, for refills, for water & bread. ( which were never offered) Then the food was just bland. It was missing flavor, from the pork Milanese , chicken piccata, shrimp Alfredo pasta, and mushroom pasta. We enjoy eating out and supporting local businesses, but for the type of service and how unfortunately boringly seasoned the food was we will not be returning. As far as atmosphere, it was ok, the chairs and food tables are uncomfortable.

I had my post elopement dinner here for a party of 15. I booked through open table and even changed my reservation time. The food was wonderful, the service was wonderful! The aesthetic was charming and romantic.

I love the beautiful garden in the back.

I'm a wedding vendor who has been to hundreds of venues. This past weekend I was booked for a wedding at Arnoldi's Café for the first time and I'm so glad I was a part of this special celebration at a special place. There is just something magical about weddings at Arnoldi's Café, it's tucked into the charm of Santa Barbara, every celebration there feels intimate, timeless and full of love. The team was very well organized, I was able to set up very easily and seamless which makes all the difference on a big wedding day. The staff was very helpful, they even offered to help me with all my equipment. It was truly a pleasure working with a well organized and professional team. Big shoutout to Casey, Ruben and waitstaff! The food was fantastic and perfect. They serve the bruschetta's which is my favorite appetizer. I also love the chicken Parmesan and spaghetti. If you' are planning a wedding definitely reach out to the team, I highly recommend them!

Ask the Community - Arnoldi’s Cafe

Do they have gluten free options?

Yes we have gluten free pasta and a delicious gluten free red velvet cake as of now, the cake is seasonal but we do have GF pasta, however we are not a certified gluten free kitchen :)

How large are the half orders vs the full orders for pastas? It's hard to tell.

A half order of pasta would easily feed 1 person, especially with appetizer, salad and or dessert. Not sure exactly how to answer your question, sorry- but a half order…

Will you be open on New Year's Eve for dinner? If so, what are the hours?

contact the restaurant directly for answer

    Do they take reservations?

    Yes they do.

I know it's early to ask, but will they be open December 22nd or December 23rd 2022? Looking to book a holiday dinner for a small group :)

    No. They closed the business.

Is gluten free option for pasta available?

    Yes it is ;)

    Do they have vegan options?

Yes. For example classic pasta with marinara sauce. They will customize your order, too. Buon appetito!

    Is there a kids menu?

    Yes there is :)

The cocktails are highly creative, diverse in flavor and design, and really could stand up to any you would find at a top cocktail bar in a major city. The exterior doesn't scream "must come in" but you absolutely should. Is it a tiki bar? Yes, but in the best way. And the bartender deserves applause for pulling off 3+ quite complex cocktails every 5 minutes off of memory and without any support.

In a stretch of Lower State packed with breweries, wine bars, and roaming weekend energy-drink humans in vintage bowling shirts, it threads the needle nicely between cocktail bar and tropical escape pod. The menu leans tiki-adjacent rather than deep-cut exotica, but the drinks are smartly built and avoid the "every problem can be solved with more rum" philosophy. There's a solid spread of spirits across the board, which makes the place feel more welcoming to a broader nightlife crowd instead of strictly rum disciples clutching vintage Trader Vic's mugs. The Oaxacan Dead was the standout for me. Smoky, balanced, endlessly sippable. One of those drinks where every sip quietly talks you into ordering another without turning into a sugar avalanche. The Jungle Bird was also great, though presented more in the direction of a Negroni than the punchier tropical versions you usually see. Bitter, restrained, and easy to settle into. Crowd-wise, things tilted a little frat-floaty as the night rolled on, but the staff handled everything smoothly and kept the vibe from turning into full pirate mutiny. Service stayed friendly and composed even when the volume of the room started climbing like a malfunctioning theremin. Big bonus points for the location and outdoor seating. Being right in the middle of Lower State makes it an easy launch point or final stop depending on your evening trajectory. Grab a drink, people-watch, drift between breweries and wine spots, repeat as necessary.

When we arrived on a Tuesday evening, there were about seven patrons throughout the bar and the outdoor seating area with the live music drew us in. We were told to order at the bar, so while the rest of our party was seated, I stood there for five minutes before someone took my order. Totally fine, but no sorry for the wait or even smile or any warmth from the male bartender, who disappeared for a five minute break shortly after taking my order. The tables at the outdoor seating area were very sticky and since there were no employees in sight I (and the other patrons who arrived then) cleaned the tables ourselves. After waiting 10 minutes I went up to the bar and assumed since our drinks hadn't been delivered, I was supposed to pick them up, I was told don't worry, we'll bring them to you, and after another five minutes, our drinks arrived. The cocktails were decent, nothing revolutionary but I am spoiled in this department, well made but nothing to get excited about . After 30 minutes of enjoying the genuinely nice outdoor area we ordered another round, three shots took another 10+ minutes. When we realized we had to leave to make our reservation, we asked for a box for our untouched food, and we were told we don't have boxes. They ended up finding one for For us, but it appeared to be a pastry box from somewhere else. The female bartender who took over after the male clocked out, was much more personable, but not much more efficient. To their credit, this bar has an excellent selection of tequilas and Mezcal's, so if you're not in a rush and you enjoy those spirits it's definitely worth stopping by. The music was really great and was definitely the highlight of that bar.

Pearl social is such a whimsical fun spot to grab a drink and a snack in the funk zone. We stumbled in for a late afternoon drink and it wasn't very busy inside - giving off "best kept secret vibe". The decor is very feminine yet playful. Loved the design and bar area. We opted for a casual booth area by the bar which was really nice. Also all of the little things were done well, crisp menus, clean bathrooms, and music done at just the right sound level. Their menu in the bar area for food is small but mighty - oysters, cheese plates, you name it. I'm definitely going to keep coming here for the cocktails. I've had one of the best sips in 2025 here - which would be The Mixtape cocktail. My friend told me I had to get it and I'm so glad I listen sometimes lol. This cocktail completely blew me away. When a large group entered, the waitress said you will need a reservation as she was only wait staff there. Perhaps a sign is needed to notify people, that groups need reservations. The drinks were spot on- the drinks started at 14 dollars to about 16 dollars for cocktails. The tasting room also offers tastings of their products too. The tastings looked small. My bestie (and yelp elite) Imo brought me here for a girls day after raving about it for months, and now I completely understand the hype. We grabbed seats at the bar (which is honestly the place to be, especially since this spot gets busy on the weekends). Hint hint: make a reservation or get here early. But overall the bar was the perfect place to people watch and to catch up. When it comes to service, impeccable. Despite being busy everyone was attentive and the drinks/food were well placed despite it being a full house. And can we talk about the bartenders? They were so welcoming and even let us film while they worked their magic making cocktails. Watching them crank out cocktails with so much flair was half the entertainment and they couldn't have been nicer. Service was definitely a 10/10. We enjoyed a few margaritas but my favorite was definitely the Hibiscus Margarita. It wasn't overly sweet and was just refreshing. I also had the tamarind Marg which was good too. Extensive cocktail menu and mezcal if you like it. The food absolutely lived up to the drinks. Santo Mezcal takes classic Mexican flavors and gives them a slightly elevated twist while still keeping everything comforting and approachable. My friend couldn't stop talking about her Pork Belly Tacos and I fell in love with the Shrimp Enchiladas. They were loaded with fresh shrimp and covered in the most incredible creamy chipotle sauce (same as their sister restaurant Los agaves for reference). Definitely one of my favorite enchiladas around, 10/10 also. One thing I wasn't expecting is that their chips and salsa might be some of the best I've had. The tortilla chips were fresh, warm, perfectly salted, and paired with a salsa so good I probably ate two bowls before our food even arrived. Honestly, you could sit at the bar with a basket of chips, salsa, and margaritas for hours and be completely happy. Make sure you don't pass up on the chips and salsa. As noted, this is a more elevated Mexican restaurant so prices are slightly more $$$ but you get what you pay for. Just worth noting because if you equate good Mexican food being $2 tacos and a bucket of beer, this spot won't do it for you. But if you want something for more of a special occasion where the food, vibes and service are A+ then this spot is for you.

My husband doesn't like raw fish so it was awesome to have a place that had a wide selection of cooked proteins and sushi too. I can't wait to come back! I wish we lived closer. It will be a lifelong memory. Richard, Tina and our server made us feel so special.

Sooo my girlfriend and I made a mistake of not getting a reservation here..whoops! But it's ok we…read morestill got seated within 10 min of arriving but unfortunately wasn't able to sit on the outdoor patio for the views. However that's fine! We still enjoyed our time there. We ordered a few things to share. We got lychee martinis because why not! Definitely had to order a few nigiri's which were delicious. Got the shishito peppers and they were flavorful and not too spicy! Can't go wrong with a few sushi rolls. Our server was sweet and attentive. The vibes for this restaurant is around intimate depending where you sit but also loud and vibey if indoors. Great place to visit but make sure to make reservations for the outdoor patio on the second level for views of the ocean and the pier!
