Location was great, service was solid, decor felt legit. It was a cool place to come and eat but could see myself just enjoying a few drinks too. I have challenges paying for Latino food at these prices, however if they actually have food worth those prices I will do it. This Resturant satisfied these challenges, food was amazing like really good. I ate the veg meal and wow!

Stopped in for my belated birthday dinner.I had the chicken tacos and my husband halibut fish tacos with orange salad. So good and excellent service!

If you're looking for a spot this summer with all the vibes, killer margaritas, and delicious food, look no further than Santo Mezcal in Santa Barbara. My bestie (and yelp elite) Imo brought me here for a girls day after raving about it for months, and now I completely understand the hype. We grabbed seats at the bar (which is honestly the place to be, especially since this spot gets busy on the weekends). Hint hint: make a reservation or get here early. But overall the bar was the perfect place to people watch and to catch up. When it comes to service, impeccable. Despite being busy everyone was attentive and the drinks/food were well placed despite it being a full house. And can we talk about the bartenders? They were so welcoming and even let us film while they worked their magic making cocktails. Watching them crank out cocktails with so much flair was half the entertainment and they couldn't have been nicer. Service was definitely a 10/10. We enjoyed a few margaritas but my favorite was definitely the Hibiscus Margarita. It wasn't overly sweet and was just refreshing. I also had the tamarind Marg which was good too. Extensive cocktail menu and mezcal if you like it. The food absolutely lived up to the drinks. Santo Mezcal takes classic Mexican flavors and gives them a slightly elevated twist while still keeping everything comforting and approachable. My friend couldn't stop talking about her Pork Belly Tacos and I fell in love with the Shrimp Enchiladas. They were loaded with fresh shrimp and covered in the most incredible creamy chipotle sauce (same as their sister restaurant Los agaves for reference). Definitely one of my favorite enchiladas around, 10/10 also. One thing I wasn't expecting is that their chips and salsa might be some of the best I've had. The tortilla chips were fresh, warm, perfectly salted, and paired with a salsa so good I probably ate two bowls before our food even arrived. Honestly, you could sit at the bar with a basket of chips, salsa, and margaritas for hours and be completely happy. Make sure you don't pass up on the chips and salsa. As noted, this is a more elevated Mexican restaurant so prices are slightly more $$$ but you get what you pay for. Just worth noting because if you equate good Mexican food being $2 tacos and a bucket of beer, this spot won't do it for you. But if you want something for more of a special occasion where the food, vibes and service are A+ then this spot is for you.

Came here for the shrimp empanadas and was mind blown by the whole menu. This place is fun and trendy! The service was excellent and the food was just as good. The SHRIMP EMPANADAS were tasty. Freshly fried and filled with extra tasty shrimp. They were so good but some how the food just kept getting better. The SHORT RIB SOPES were packed with flavor. I was not expecting these to hit that hard! The two CEVICHES were exceptional. I loved that one with a bit of coconut. I've never had ceviche with coconut before and it did not disappoint. Overall best meal and service I've had in a long time!

We had an incredible lunch at Santo Mezcal sitting on the patio under the shade. The chips and salsa and guacamole were fresh and delicious and the service was fast and friendly. The main meals were really the standout though. We ordered the Chorizo Crab Tacos that featured crab, pork chorizo, cheese, avocado, jalapeño aioli, and guajillo corn tortillas. We also got the Cabo Enchiladas with crab meat, cheese and salsa verde. The tacos and enchiladas were so delicious. No notes, all yumminess. And they came with a delicious side salad with a citrus glaze I couldn't get enough of. The prices are high - especially for lunch but it's State Street in Santa Barbara so I guess what do you expect? If you're looking for a surprising twist on traditional Mexican, give Santo Mezcal a try.

Omg so delicious! The ceviche was solid, nice and fresh. I got a duck barbacoa which was so unique and flavorful while hubby got the crab enchilada. The drinks were strong and delicious! We had the sweetest waitress who gave us such great recommendations. We didn't have reservations and had to wait around 30-40 minutes but it was worth the wait. The outside seating was beautiful on a gorgeous Santa Barbara night with music playing from a street performer. Good times!

Found this place off Yelp and have to say, it did not disappoint. It's on the Main Street headed to the pier so great location. Great place to take a rest and people watch. You get free chips & salsa and they have a variety which is nice. We also asked for a hot one and boy was it hot-habanero. We ordered: -Ceviche de Mariscos- good, refreshing -Pulpo tacos- great flavor, small amount of octopus for the price. The salad with mango dressing is amazing! -tacos rib eye- she loved it -short rib tacos - also enjoyed Service was good. Delicious

Restaurant is located on the main strip near the railroad tracks. Friendly and efficient service. Food is fresh. Rib eye tacos are very good.

Santo Mezcal was an easy 5 stars! We were worried about crowds b/c of the holiday weekend but somehow we snagged a 6 person table and quickly got to work on the chips and guac and salsa. Our service was excellent throughout the evening and the menu had something for everyone! I ordered the Mole Negro and Shae got the Salmon Tropical. The flavors in the Mole Negro were too good for words to describe, you ought to just order it yourself and be so so so delighted. The plate was full of flavor and culture, I can't wait to go back!! Shae loved her salmon too, I didn't try any because I had so much food to eat myself, but both of our plates were clean at the end of our meal. The presentation of the salmon may have even been better than the Mole, quite impressive if you ask me.... Would definitely recommend, great vibes all around. You wont be disappointed.

I had such a great meal here! The ceviche verde is made with halibut and super fresh and sweet, it's also the most massive portion. The pulpo tacos are a MUST and I don't even usually like octopus. It has such a nice smoky grilled flavor and it doesn't have that chewy texture. Service is really great and friendly as well, and their outdoor patio is perfect people watching!

I love a place with incredible chips and salsa and Santo Mezcal was it! I mean, who doesn't love three salsa options?? The service and ambiance here is impeccable, it truly was just a great dinner experience overall. The Ensenada enchiladas with halibut were incredibly delicious (the sauce was what made it!) - but I have to say, my boyfriend's chicken enchiladas may have it beat! I've never had such flavorful and tender shredded chicken, highly recommend.

My friend and I haven't been back to Santa Barbara since 2021. So here we are back in May 2026. My friend and I took a Santa Barbara Sunset Sailing tour. I knew we would arrive back late and there're not a lot of restaurants open past 9:00. We arrived back at the dock at 8:30PM. My friend was hungry and as we were walking back to our hotel, we saw Santo Mezcal still open YEAH! As we have seen in the past, the place is packed and super lively with diner finishing up. There were spots open at the bar we took. Edgar the bar tender (cocktail aficionado) was great! We ordered Cocktails, Espresso Martini and a Mezcal Paloma (so good) I ordered the Shrimp Empanadas. My friend ordered the King Fish Crudo and the Enchiladas Verdes. Even though they were ready to close our food came out hot, fresh, presentation great and tasting delicious. It was a great ending to our sunset cruise night. Atmosphere: fun lively. Service: excellent. Food: excellent.

Came here as a recommendation and was blown away by how great this spot is! The ceviche was very flavorful, had a nice kick and was very refreshing. The ribeye tacos, and the beans and rice were also amazing and seasoned perfectly. The portions were also generous so this was not only delicious but also a great value. The entire staff from the servers, to the bartender and the DJ were super friendly and welcoming. It was a great experience, I would highly recommend and can't wait to come back.

When we arrived on a Tuesday evening, there were about seven patrons throughout the bar and the outdoor seating area with the live music drew us in. We were told to order at the bar, so while the rest of our party was seated, I stood there for five minutes before someone took my order. Totally fine, but no sorry for the wait or even smile or any warmth from the male bartender, who disappeared for a five minute break shortly after taking my order. The tables at the outdoor seating area were very sticky and since there were no employees in sight I (and the other patrons who arrived then) cleaned the tables ourselves. After waiting 10 minutes I went up to the bar and assumed since our drinks hadn't been delivered, I was supposed to pick them up, I was told don't worry, we'll bring them to you, and after another five minutes, our drinks arrived. The cocktails were decent, nothing revolutionary but I am spoiled in this department, well made but nothing to get excited about . After 30 minutes of enjoying the genuinely nice outdoor area we ordered another round, three shots took another 10+ minutes. When we realized we had to leave to make our reservation, we asked for a box for our untouched food, and we were told we don't have boxes. They ended up finding one for For us, but it appeared to be a pastry box from somewhere else. The female bartender who took over after the male clocked out, was much more personable, but not much more efficient. To their credit, this bar has an excellent selection of tequilas and Mezcal's, so if you're not in a rush and you enjoy those spirits it's definitely worth stopping by. The music was really great and was definitely the highlight of that bar.

Pearl social is such a whimsical fun spot to grab a drink and a snack in the funk zone. We stumbled in for a late afternoon drink and it wasn't very busy inside - giving off "best kept secret vibe". The decor is very feminine yet playful. Loved the design and bar area. We opted for a casual booth area by the bar which was really nice. Also all of the little things were done well, crisp menus, clean bathrooms, and music done at just the right sound level. Their menu in the bar area for food is small but mighty - oysters, cheese plates, you name it. I'm definitely going to keep coming here for the cocktails. I've had one of the best sips in 2025 here - which would be The Mixtape cocktail. My friend told me I had to get it and I'm so glad I listen sometimes lol. This cocktail completely blew me away. Passionfruit forward, it's silky, sweet yet very well balanced. One of the more unique and tasty cocktails I've had ever and honestly I'm not sure how I could come back and get anything else. 10/10 Cocktail and menu. Super impressed. The patio is in the back of Cutler's that can be entered around the corner (map on the front door of Cutler's shows the directions). The patio is next to other tasting room patios featuring wine and next door to Lark's restaurant. When we visited the tasting room at about 3pm in the afternoon, we were the only individuals there but started to fill up with other small groups. When a large group entered, the waitress said you will need a reservation as she was only wait staff there. Perhaps a sign is needed to notify people, that groups need reservations. The drinks were spot on- the drinks started at 14 dollars to about 16 dollars for cocktails. The tasting room also offers tastings of their products too. The tastings looked small. The cocktails were well poured. I was just disappointed to find out that I could not get a Bloody Mary on a Saturday- only Sundays- the Bloody Mary looked really good.
