Stopped by Shaker Mill for a quick drink while enjoying a beautiful day in Santa Barbara. The bar has a cute setup and a nice patio area, which made it a great place to sit outside and relax. There were only two beer options available, as the focus seems to be mostly on mixed drinks and cocktails. I ordered a margarita was a Tajin rim and my husband ordered one of the two beer options. The Tajin was pretty on the glass but I was really hoping for a Tajin rim to enjoy as I sipped in the margarita. The server was friendly, and even though the bar area itself was busy, we were still able to find seating on the patio. Prices were about what you'd expect for the area. What a sweet little cocktail bar! I have been here before but it's been YEARS. Rolled in on New Year's Eve and had a couple lovely cocktails. One from their seasonal menu and one from the regular menu: Sally's Brew & Arroz Con Pollo. Both excellent. Both so different. We also shared a lobster roll from the Broad Street Oyster Co., which is located within the building. We had our 8 week old with us, and it was so comfortable and easy. Came here for a holiday pop up nightmare before Christmas event which I was super excited for. the drinks were strong. I was bummed out because they had ran out of cucumber so I couldn't order the drink I really wanted. It was only 6pm so it was crazy that they couldn't just go to the store down the block and get more? The bartender was all alone and she got pretty busy. Shaker Mill is a super fun little spot! It's sort of like an elevated food court. We tried a cocktail at one place and food at another and beer at another. We went to check out the Nightmare before Christmas pop up and it was a fun theme. Since we were just visiting for the day and waiting on friends to arrive, we ordered the fries with the old bay aioli and it blew our minds! I don't think I can ever eat another fry without thinking of those. Perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside and the aioli was perfectly balanced. I forgot all about my drink because I was obsessed with how good the dang fries were! If we ever go back to Santa Barbara, we are going back to that little seafood shop in Shaker Mill with the awesome fries and ordering everything on the menu. I bet it's all just as good! read more

Stopped in here for Fiesta Weekend in SB, when every bar along the Main Street was absolutely packed. Santa Barbara is an interesting place, not sure if it was the weekend or the location or what but most of the patrons were super young. Deadass was like a much classier college bar vibe, but with nicer people, better drinks and no fights breaking out. Wasn't super hard to get a bar seat, but having 3 bartenders on a busy night like that was wild. Literally witnessed the bartender stay calm and make 8 drinks at once, of 4 different types. We sat, grabbed some menus and ordered our food. The drinks had to be ordered at the bar. The drinks were absolutely amazing and yummy! We ordered a couple of rounds. As for food, we ordered a variety of things from oysters to ceviche to shrimp cocktails and clam chowder. The seafood was definitely fresh! The flavor was great. On a recent weekend bar-hop down State Street, we started at Victoria Street and winded our way down to the beach. Numerous bars were visited, with various degrees of attention to detail, quality and customer service, and wouldn't you know it, our final bar, Shaker Mill, was by far the best overall. By the time we got there it was pretty busy, people everywhere deep into conversation and libation, and we were able to belly-up to the bar pretty quickly. We were greeted by bartender Dustin, who made sure we understood their cocktails menu, and we were quick to let him know we were searching for the ultimate Mojito, Dirty Martini, and/or whichever drink he enjoys making. Well, Dustin dazzled us with his muddling skills, and made some amazing Mojitos. And for his specialty Dirty Martini, he introduced us to the Tomolive, which is a unique pickled Tomato (very olive like), and is THE ultimate Martini garnish. We are so looking forward to now starting our bar crawls here at Shaker Mill, although we may never leave. Shaker Mill is located on Lower State Street, between Gutierrez and Haley Streets.
