Needed a place to impress some out of town visitors. Always a great experience when visiting the Imperial.

When you go on vacay and find a neighborhood staple that treats you like a regular, that's a win in my book! My friends and I hit up spot after our hotel bartender recommended this place, and we weren't disappointed. A true cocktail bar w/ a tiki living room vibe. They seriously can make you anything. I asked for a hot toddy b/c I didn't get the memo that Santa Barbara was on the chilly side. I came in these cute holders. The bartenders were really great...friendly and attentive. We like this place so much we went back to their 10 year anniversary party...the Tom Selleck invite LOL. If you're in the area, definitely check them out.

The best bar in SB!!! They staff is always great and everyone in my circle of friends love coming here. Their drinks are great and the atmosphere is great for a late night drink! Ps. Change the drink name to Flying Dutchman

Such a cool spot! It's a a speakeasy so expect it to be difficult to find the door and dark inside lol. It's around the back of the building and there's a sign out but it doesn't say imperial. Our server Claire was phenomenal, great recommendations and just an all around sweet person. We were one of two tables there Saturday at 5pm right after the sunset. It filled up by the time we left two hours later, I think it was only Claire and the bar tender - need more staff!! The drinks were delish, quite a selection and vibes immaculate.

A gem in Old Town Goleta! This hidden speakeasy is unique and amazing. You will NOT see a large sign with "Imperial" on it. You will see a small neon sign with Bak Dor on it. This is the former bar at this location. The friendly bartender Donald told me that the Imperial was purchased from the 92 year old owner of Bak Dor and in his honor, they kept the sign. There is a faint "Imperial" etching on the door. The interior is dark, cool, intimate with a lot of comfortable seating (booths, couches). Then there is the beautiful patio with equally comfortable seating. Win-win!! They have wonderful cocktails but only one beer on tap (a Pilsner). There is an assortment of bottled beers, No real food to order (just bar nuts for $5) but they offer free potato chips! This is a special place. Go.

Other than the guy chasing me down in front of everyone to check my ID (which was really weird, btw. He wasn't near the front but ran over to me through the crowd and popped up in my face out of nowhere asking for ID...) I'd say I like this place. It's small in size but it's very intimate and has bar seating, intimate inside seating as well as a nice sized patio that feels warm and inviting. They took full advantage of the space and somehow created extra room even though it's small. Some of the patio chairs sat VERY LOW...so just be mindful that you're going to have to squat way down to sit on some of the furniture, but overall, the place is fun and would make for a fun first date. Just tell the guy working ID's not to comment on people and age. He told me "good job" for not looking 40. Yikes.

Two delicious Mai Thai/Mai Chai's at Imperial!!! My favorite way to spend quality time on a Saturday evening.

Loved this place! Feels like Palm Springs in the 60s. Super mid-century tiki lounge find in an unlikely spot.

I will be visiting Santa Barbara soon and enjoy a cigar with my whiskey, anyone know if they allow it in the outdoor patio area?

I know guests smoke cigarettes on the outdoor patio, so I don't see why a cigar wouldn't be allowed. On a similar note, if you enjoy cigars, consider checking this place out while you're in Santa Barbara:… Read more

My dad and I have always talked about going here and since I was nearby on my honeymoon decided to make a trip to check it out. The parking is insane but I'm glad we decided to stop anyway. They have a tiny lot mostly for motorcycles so cars/trucks/suvs park along the side of the windy 2 lane mountain road! Make sure to slow way down when getting close as there are cars and people along both sides of the road. We grabbed a couple drinks and walked around to see all the old buildings. If you like history this is the place for you! The owners were collectors of old buildings and old items that are all over the property. It's a pretty big space too. The food all smelled so good. They have a restaurant on site with table service and full menu, and a small stand serving up freshly grilled tri tip sandwiches that looked amazing. There was live music so we just say around for a while enjoying the ambiance. The drinks are strong, staff is super nice, and it feels like stepping back in time. I'll be back for some food soon!

There are carvings and decorative items all about. Cozy and warm. Historically, there are stories about the various objects and mounted animals. Their menu features a scavenger hunt, which we unsuccessfully tried. The menu is a masterpiece of everything. there is a grazing menu, sandwiches, entrees, a forage menu of basic veggie presentations, and a bar with quite a few very cleaver offerings. Absolutely fascinating interior. Go inside to take it in. You will be struck amazed. Wife and I came in for dinner and were not disappointed. We felt the warmth. Specialty cocktails, draft beer, bottled beer lounge draft 16oz beers and wine by the glass. They also have some fancy custom non-alcohol cocktails. Everyone should be happy. Service was "on" but fulfillment was "off". Wait staff hustled but had to wait for bar and kitchen to come through faster. I don't usually order specialty/fancy cocktails, but was intrigued with a Feral Martini ($17). Got it and found it to be lacking flavor or anything special. It was watery and disappointing. Was surprised when I shared my feelings with our server Camille O. who took it back, credited it from our bill and brought me a replacement of my choice. Way to go! Had a Manhattan ($12) and wife had a red blend wine ($13.50). Now or our meals. Funny that we both has short rib entrees. Wife did the Taco 'bout Delicious ($21), which was short ribs with oaxaca cheese, cilantro, and a dip of house-made consomme. Like a French dip, but different. She dipped and liked it all. My selection of Braise The Bar ($29) was short ribs surmounting a mound of sage-mashed potatoes dosed with pickled onions, blistered shishito peppers (a favorite of mine) and fresh cilantro. An explosion in my mouth and truly yummy. Nothing served here is usual. Some very cleaver people spent a lot of creative energy to architect entrees, cocktails and the rest of the menu so as to be uniquely delicious. My Yelp! profile does not contain many 5-star ratings but now has this one for Feral. Give it a try and this would be a great first date of small group venture.

Both got dishes featuring short ribs, him the mac and cheese, me the entree with mashed potatoes. Pros 1. The pre-dinner cocktails were tasty. 2. The servers were very nice. Cons 1. Wanted wine with dinner. In the middle of California wine country they had only a handful of supermarket-quality wines. 2. The short run was dry and not very flavorful in both dishes. 3. The starches on both plates were not well-prepred. The mac and cheese was SO dry and the mashed potatoes were cold and lacked seasoning. 4. The starter or appetizer selection is quite limited. This wasn't a good meal, and it wasn't a cheap one, either. We won't be back.
