As a beer snob (ahem...chasing 5k unique beer check-ins on Untappd, the Yelp of beer) I have to say this place is great. Great service, met the owner, nice guy, well curated beers on tap (I think they generally have 16 on tap) ranging from a few from overseas if you are in to Belgians or what have you and then a well chosen selection of great beers from all over - maybe a bit California heavy but there is a helluva lot of great beer in California. I hate going in to a so-called taproom and I can't find anything I have never had on tap. Why go to a place with a bunch of variety of there is nothing new? Typical corporate or beer-illiterate taproom: "Well we have this great IPA from Lagunitas, its their IPA have you heard of Lagunitas? What about Sam Adams? Oh and we have Guinness if you are into *throws finger quotes* dark beers. Oh we also have Sierra Nevada Pale I think it comes all the way from NorCal!" Ugh. Again - great rotating selection here...and a bonus couple of coolers where you can score some cans and bottles to go of some more great craft beer. Ambiance is local bar/brewery, they have food some nights (had a great smashburger from Goodland Grillers tonight) and trivia on Thursdays. There I included the word ambiance are you happy Yelp? Centennial Beer Hall is my favorite place to grab a beer with friends in Old Town Goleta. Located right on the main road of Hollister, Centennial has plenty of seating indoors and an outside patio. With a wide selection of beers, from different breweries, they are sure to have something that you'll enjoy. If you're not sure what to get, the owner is always there and gives out great recommendations! Friendly relaxed atmosphere. They usually have 15-16 beers on tap, I'm always able to find one I like, also give the pretzels a try.

The beer and service was very good, it was a little slow when I went but it had a cozy atmosphere and everything was clean

I was a little skeptical about it, but it is a calm little place. I was thirsty and decided to stop for a drink around 4pm and not sure how it is after that but seems pretty cool. Service wasn't bad, but I had to say that it depends on how You feel that day and time and in my case was good. We all have bad timings, remember that next time. I have to admit that it took me a few visits before I gave this place the respect it deserves. I get attached to places that are established. I remember this space all the way back to when it was Gus's. But when it became The Mercury, I eventually had some of my favorite moments in my adult life here. Now, as the Centennial Beer Hall, this place continues to offer adults a wonderful place to visit with friends and family. Here's what sets the Hall apart from the previous two places that occupy this great space: First, it is now clutter free. If you feel more comfortable with fewer distractions, you'll love the elegance and simplicity of this space. Second, it is now a place for the the most discerning of beer lovers. I don't know of any place in town with an owner and staff who know more about beer. And that's saying something in a town that includes outstanding breweries and tap rooms. It is just a pleasure to geek out about beer here. If you are the type of person who loves to learn, this is your library of hops, malts, and techniques. You will arrive as a watery brew and leave as a learned Pliny the Elder. Just start asking questions. Finally, I am paying attention to the new parking and access along Hollister with the Project Connect going on. It is a GREAT time to spend your hard earned dollars in Old Town. All of the businesses are open and it's important that they all thrive. The project is going to make it difficult at times to get to the Beer House, but it is already evident that Hollister is much more safe and "chill" than before. So give it a chance. If you want to have a great experience NOW, then use a bicycle or eBike. I am looking forward to spending more time this summer on Hollister and, specifically, at the Centennial Beer Hall. First time checking out the new bar in the old Mercury Lounge location. I LOVE the new interior. Everything felt clean too. Their sampler sizes were just the right size at 5 oz so I tried the... - vacation dad blonde ale (my fave) - festbier lager - hard cider - bourbon barrel stout (delicious!) Most beers are reasonably priced between $7-8. And the staff is friendly and welcoming. Great atmosphere! I'm looking forward to coming back when they have live band events. read more

Came into this place on a sort of "tour" of Old Town establishments. Owner was super friendly and relaxed. Beautiful space with a very long bar top and nice/stylish tables inside with an awesome and cute patio outside. My bf tried two drinks on tap, the cider and a melon gose. He enjoyed 'em while I had a canned "peach" gose. Both were great. Will definitely stop by here again. 15 beers on tap. Many local. All reasonably priced. read more

Came here last night for the first time. I was pleasantly surprised. This place has been open for around a month and though not the same as its predecessor, it offers a fresh and clean spot to enjoy a cold beer. The front facade remains unchanged - and I hope it stays as such, as it looks so cool and vintage. The interior is open and airy, with a nice long bar and some tables off to the side. They offer an impressive list of local craft beers and the bartender was happy to provide me with a free sample of my choosing. My beer was very good. I enjoyed it on one of their indoor tables. There was music playing in the background and a good amount of other patrons on the Friday afternoon I was in there. I didn't walk out to the patio but it seemed pretty full as well. I love the industrial, minimalist vibe of this new spot and hope they do well! read more

I hate to write these kind of reviews. This beer hall has promise, but it's not great yet. Walking in feels like walking into a high school cafeteria. Albeit a nice Cafeteria, but no where is there a nice comfortable place to sit and hang out. There's blank walls, concrete floors, and blank tables. It's sterile, and frankly not inviting. The beer list is great, price for this area not bad, but there's no reason to pay 7-10 for a beer to sit at uncomfortable folding chairs. Perhaps a brewery where you can only get their beer can get away with this type of atmosphere, but honestly it's better to buy a 6 pack and hang out on your couches. read more

I'm not a big beer drinker, but they have a whole case of ciders, seltzers, kombuchas, etc. so I always have something great to drink when I come by. They also have comedy shows and trivia nights, so there's more to do than just hang out and drink (but you can always hang on the back patio and relax if that's your speed). Staff is always nice and helpful, the beer list is constantly being updated/improved and there are food pop-ups from time to time which is a nice addition. I've also never once had an issue finding parking which is a huge plus for me because I hate driving around looking for a place to park. read more

Extra bar options in Goleta are always appreciated but had a pretty lackluster experience here. I'm super bummed the Mercury closed, but that's not my issue. Walked in to grab a quick beer. Bartender asked to see my ID - I'm 40 - better safe than sorry if that's the direction from the owners. Decent beer list. I asked the bartender the difference between two west coast ipas - he told me they were both west coast ipas and not hazy. Not a promising start but offered me a taste of each to decide - appreciated that but wouldn't have needed to taste if he gave me a little bit of input. Picked one and was asked if I wanted a pint or 16 ounces. I asked the difference and was told that the pint came in what looked kind of like a pint glass and the 16 ounce was in a bigger glass had more foam on top. Um, ok - pint and 16oz were the same when I was a kid so would love a more thorough explanation. Rather than order a 16 oz that looked like a TGIFridays whale bone, I ordered the "pint". I don't work for weights and measures, but pretty sure it's a 12 oz glass. Beer was $8 - pretty standard. What was strange is that I handed the bartender a $10 expecting to receive 2 singles back and toss him one. Instead, he counted a single and some change and put it in a black tray like I was at an airport bar. I appreciate that taxes are required, but believe that 99% of bars bake that into their pricing for an even number. Hoping these are opening kinks or misunderstandings. read more
