Came here to grab some local Brews to take back home after a trip to Santa Barbara. I aways have to stop in Solvang and my husband wanted to bring back a souvenir. We claw this place was open and decided to check it out. They had some ciders and the person behind the bar gave me a sample. It was pretty good and my husband tried another beer and decided to get it. My toddler was welcome inside and they had games that she ran over too. On St. Patrick's Day, we popped in for a drink at this bar! This bar is located right in the heart of Solvang in a cute little bungalow house! The bar features indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor seating consist of a small bar with stools and a couple of tables. The outside seating features several tables with umbrellas for warm sunny days. In front of the outdoor patio, there is a small space to stand and play games! The menu features beer, cider and wines! Something for everybody. The beers are very diverse. Unfortunately only one cider on tap but it met my needs! Great to go to a place where the cider is not sickening sweet! The cider is not a super dry cider like you will find in UK, but well balanced! Unfortunately the bar does not have a food menu so bring your own snacks! The bartender was super friendly and definitely was in the holiday spirit with his Kilt! Great little spot with plenty of comfy seating once you get through the parking pain. I did love that Draughtsmen had beer and wine available which will make anyone happy to fill their cup. We found a comfy couch to sit at upstairs that even our pup enjoyed. A really good selection of beers on tap available and they are kind enough to also let you sample them prior committing which I would recommend you to do. The beers are a bit steep in price compared to other locations so we did end up just ordering one beer each and enjoying it to the fullest. This is a cute place - definitely. Parking is sort of annoying but once you get past that, it's a nice little place with decent beer. The area is industrial so you might miss it, but it's at the end of a street that makes it feel pretty cozy. We walked right in, they are dog friendly, and the bartender hopped up and served us immediately. We were able to sit out in the back, where there are tables with chairs. Their flight menu hadn't been updated so there were several beers on there that they no longer brew, which was a little disappointing, but everything we had was pretty good anyway. It was fairly empty mid-afternoon on a Friday, so no lack of attention or waiting. It's worth a stop and I'd love to try the other locations. read more

Been here a few times and always enjoyed it. The brew is great, especially the Hook, Line, and Drinker - which is a lovely hazy. Draughstman is tucked away down a long cul de sac out by the Costco Center in Goleta because of its location, you'll likely find mostly locals enjoying the laid back vibe. The space is well designed and comfortable, the service is inevitably friendly - even when the lines get long, and they often have music and food on the back patio on the weekends. The upstairs is a particularly appealing place to sip a brew and connect with friends. Draughstman is just one of three excellent micro-breweries in Goleta, and all are excellent. But do have to admit we've been loving the Japanese Rice Lager, Mexican Amber Lager, Awesome Possum IPA, Meat & Potatoes Porter (hhhmmm, I guess I have picked my favorites after all). A friend and I came here on a cold and rainy night over the recent holiday weekend. We were able to find parking on the cul-de-sac, and were greeted by a warm and welcoming taproom. The place was not busy, and the bartender gave us ample time as we debated our way through choosing eight beers for a flight. In the end we went with four IPAs (the persistence SIPA, Nimbus hazy, Severance IPA, and Awesome Possum IPA) and four others (Loral & Hearty oatmeal pale, Crimson & Clxver Irish red, Mesa black lager, and Meat & Potatoes porter). By far the standout winner was the Irish red. We both agreed we could have enjoyed whole pints to ourselves. But we were there to sample; it was a first visit for both of us. So instead, we cracked into the snacks we had brought (the place has a BYO any time snack policy, which is totally great. We savored our smoked almonds, dried apricots, and other beer pairings and recommend you try something similar!) Sitting upstairs in the lofted area, we had a couch to ourselves, and enjoyed a leisurely game of dice while working our way through the flight. Yes to a chill atmosphere, string lights, nice bartenders, easygoing crowd, non-binary restrooms (it's California law--AB1732, but you'd be surprised how many places haven't gotten the memo). After trying the other nearby brewery, I vote Draughtsmen all the way. I'll definitely be back. read more

A cool small to medium sized brewery, from the outside you'd expect this to be some kind of office building but on the inside it's pretty much like every other craft brewery. I came here for a Paint & Beer event they were hosting in the upstairs area of the brewery. From the flyers I saw around the brewery they seem to host a lot of events during the week, they don't serve food that they made but they have various food vendors here so depending on when you come there's a possibility you can get something to eat. Since I was hear for the painting event I didn't get to try a flight like I usually do when I first visit a brewery, but I did get to try a couple of pints & both beer were pretty solid. While talking to some of the staff at the bar I found out they recently opened a tap room over in Santa Barbara. The beer is still brewed in the Golita brewery, the Santa Barbara tap room is just another location where you can check out what they have on tap. The brewery has the usual board games, foosball, & I believe corn hole that you'd expect at most breweries. Next time I'm up in the area I'll be looking forward to check out the tap room in Santa Barbara and taste the other beers they have to offer. read more

After trying samples of many of their beers at festivals throughout the past year I was excited to finally have the tasting room experience with some friends who have sworn by their beers since they opened. I stopped by on a Sunday and was very confused upon arrival in the residential looking area right behind/next to the Smart and Final complex in Goleta. Parking was all curbside (no lots) and walking it you feel like your going into a mid 20 year old male's garage that he turned into a hangout bar spot. Maybe it was the lack of music or the amount of kids running around but I was really unsure if they were even open to the public and felt a little unwelcome walking to the bar. The multiple game options were cool and the hot dog stand seemed to get good business. The staff were friendly but definitely more so to the regulars at the bar. They let me sample a beer or two before deciding my order, which I love. I ended up getting the Severance IPA which was average but really didn't sit well with my stomach afterwards. We ordered some breadsticks and wings from Woodstocks, who delivers for free there, and played Fact or Crap for a while but most the questions were super out of date so conversation took over after a little bit. All in all it was an average experience, with the dogs roaming around being the best part. I have no real complaints other than the environment and beers just weren't for me, but give it a shot and see for yourself. read more

Love love love this place!!!!! My favorite beer in the area, and the atmosphere is quirky in a great way. The IPAs are delicious, the severance is probably my favorite. My husband lives the Ogre. But, let's talk about the spectre. Soooooooo good that I crave it! I was never a big fan of Irish stouts, not that I don't enjoy them, just that I don't seek them out. Well, now I do! Try the spectre on nitro! I also love the red here! One of the best features here is that you can get 4oz glasses, crowlers (40 oz to go) and growlers. The 4 oz glasses are nice if you are in the mood to try a few different things without having to commit to a taster. They bring in food trucks and there's a fairly large space, although because it's concrete building with concrete floors, it can get pretty loud at peak times. It's also dog friendly, and they support the local dog adoption agency. read more

Located in an industrial park, the Draughtmen Aleworks is not a microbrewery that you will drive past in your travels and note that you must visit sometime. It is close to Costco (not in the Costo plaza) on the other side of Hollister Ave at the end of a cul-de-sac. With lots of selection this is a microbrewery you will want to try. Their no nonsense "form follows function" layout shows that their focus and investment is first and foremost about making the best rotating selection of awesome craft beers. The staff are the founders. Their intense interest in brewing shines through. Kris took the time to explain their brewing operation (which is highly visible) and what makes Draughtsmen exceptional. Came in late afternoon on a Friday and the place was pretty empty and quiet. I saw two women meeting up for a study date there- haha. There's no outdoor seating area but there's plenty of individual tables once you come in. They also seem to have an upstairs area with couches that make it look like a lounge. It still feels open and bright. I believe they don't have a designated parking lot so it's all street parking. We didn't have a problem finding parking since we were there early but I can see it maybe being a problem later on in the evening. I was excited to try the Awesome Possum IPA but I guess they had run out. The bartender suggested the alternative IPA so I went with that. It was ok. Maybe I was just really set on that Awesome Possum, idk. We left after the first beer. The bartender did seem really chill though. He was actively talking to the other customers by the bar. I can see this being a place where the bartenders get to genuinely know the regulars. I also saw customers there with their pets so it's dog friendly. You can also order food to be delivered since they don't serve food there. I hear they also have food trucks but probably later on in the day because we didn't see any when we went. I'll have to come back and give this place a second chance and maybe give it a higher rating. read more

We had an awesome time at Draughtsmen Aleworks. We went on a Sunday around lunchtime and it wasn't too crowded so we got seats at the bar. If you think they're not open do not fear--the entrance is around back. The place has a warehouse vibe with neat artwork, a foosball table, games behind the bar, a few free snacks, a kid's area and additional seating upstairs. We struck up a conversation with Scott who told us a little bit about sour beers and The Princess Bride. We got the Triage Belgian tripel and the Exuberance IPA. The tripel was exceptionally light for a tripel, a dangerous beer at 8%. I generally dislike IPAs but my husband's Exuberance was absolutely excellent and I would order it myself. The hoppy smell is deceptive as the taste is very smooth. They have a neat two pint can option for take-home beers so we got the Inigo and Fezzik Belgian IPA to go and we can't wait to try it. Overall this is an awesome laid-back place with impressive beers. We'll be back. read more

Easily my favorite brewery in all of Goleta. Heck, maybe even all of SB. I used to work and live within walking distance to this neat locale, and while I don't frequent it to the level I once did, I try and make a point to stop in from time to time. Really neat lofty vibe with an abundance of seating options, televisions, and board games. The bar is large and the service is top notch. I'm a big fan of their Severance IPA but also seem to veer toward their Mas Macho lager with a lime slice - it's rather refreshing on a hot day. Speaking of hot, the venue (especially the upstairs portion) tends to get pretty toasty during the warmer months, so dress appropriately. I love how Draughtsmen offers food trucks nearly every night along with the occasional live music setup. Makes for a fun weekend day while enjoying the best of Goleta. The only drawback is the parking. There are maybe 10 off-street spots, and the little cul-de-sac's parking tends to fill up quickly. You may have to park in the shopping center across the street. Would be nice to see a lighted crosswalk connecting Santa Felicia and Hollister. Definitely come here if you're seeking some amazing beer and a good vibe! read more
