If you're looking for a winery where you're made to feel like you've interrupted someone's private wine club, this is the place. The "alleged owner" somehow managed to combine pretension, condescension, and rudeness into a single tasting experience. It's impressive, in a way. The service was so spectacularly bad that we started wondering if being ignored was part of the pairing menu. Every interaction felt like we should apologize for daring to show up and spend money. And then there was the wine. I've had better pours from gas station boxed wine. Every glass was an exercise in lowering expectations, with flavors that can only be described as "aggressively regrettable." If someone told me it had been fermented in a toilet, I'd have fewer questions than I do after tasting it. There are plenty of wineries that serve great wine without making their guests feel unwelcome. I'd recommend visiting literally any of those instead. read more

Took a friend here for wine tasting and we were helped by Aisha. Aisha was so wonderful! She educated us about the flights and each wine. What i really appreciated was that she monitored our progress and had great timing with her pours. We never felt rushed or were waiting around for our next tasting. Slightly off the beaten path of the Funk zone, this hidden gem is like an oasis on the large outside patio and a bright open indoor fit for a goddess! It's woman owned and woman run so Gaia represented on the label is very fitting. Delicious sparkling and still rosés along with smooth grenaches but for something fun try the sparkling sauvigon blanc! Popped into La Lieff Wines in the Funk Zone last weekend with some girlfriends, and it was a total vibe. I'm in my mid-20s and always hunting for cool spots in SB, and this place nailed it with its women-led energy and that whole eco-conscious thing. We grabbed a tasting flight of their Rhone wines, the Grenache and Syrah were my faves, so easygoing and perfect for a chill sunny day. The folks working there were super nice, talked us through the sustainable grape growing, which I'm totally into since I try to live green. The room's got a cozy setup with fun art and spots to sit outside, great for snapping photos and hanging out. Just docking a star because the pours seemed kinda skimpy for the $20 price tag, and it started getting packed later with not enough staff to handle the crowd quick. La Lief wines what a Wonderful experience I've been to La Lief several times and it's always a Great time. Sunday afternoon I was feeling bored, so off to the Funk Zone I go! I gravitated to La Lief and We Want the Funk has become one of my favorite Oyster spots and I spotted a burger that's new? As I approached the Tasting Room I noticed Tory at La Lief, a Wonderful member of the Tasting Room staff. The wines are Nice and I enjoy the selection. The Ambience relaxing and inviting. Beautiful new tasting room in The Funk Zone! I have been wanting to try this place since they opened and finally made it there. If you love Rose, this is the place for you! They have 4 different Roses and they are delicious! After talking with the owner Gretchen, I know why! All the fruit is sourced from her ranch and the wine maker is none other than the amazing Kris Curran. If you don't know Kris, she is a rock star wine maker who used to make Sea Smoke and also Foley! The reds are great! I always love a good Grenache! The wine maker is Sally Sigouin. If that last name sounds familiar it's because she and her husband are the talents behind Kaena. I recently got to try La Lieff and instantly became a fan! It's a great location in the Funk Zone with indoor and outdoor seating options. Their staff wait on you, which I love! They're very dog friendly and even have food trucks nearby sometimes. I found parking easily on the street nearby, though I know that the Funk Zone can get really busy. I really enjoyed the white and rosé wines I got to try, however I wasn't as fond of their reds. I would love to go back and try just their rosé wines. read more

Looking for a chic woman owned winery in Santa Barbra look no further, La Lieff is the answer. The tasting gives a beautiful look into what the winery has to offer. My two favorites were the 2020 Rosé and the 2021 Sauvignon Blanc both bright and delicious. The owner is a sweet heart and this women forward but men friendly establishment will be a forever Santa Barbra stop for me. I encourage everyone to stop by and enjoy this refreshingly bright tasting room. Great atmosphere and good service. The owner seems to be there quite a bit and enjoys engaging with the customers.

For the first pick up party I would say it was good but could have been better. It is probably better that Gretchen did not go all out because I think many people were out of town for the solar eclipse. Still the music, service, appetizers, and wine were incredible. I was so happy that I got to support women all day after I went to the mujeres market. I enjoy being part of the funk club which gives me 15 percent off of wine and 2 glasses of wine when I visit. read more

Came here after reading all the glowing reviews and left pretty disappointed. The tasting room was nice and clean, however there were a number of other issues we encountered. The gal working, who said she was the manager, left a lot to be desired. She was distracted and on her phone most of the time. She poured the tiniest pours I've ever seen, she didn't tell us a single thing about the wines, and the worst part is we left spending almost $100 on just 2 tastings! The red flight was $40 each and we got 1 each plus tax and tip. I wouldn't mind spending that much if it was an amazing experience but she honestly just poured the tiny tastings and didn't tell us anything about the wine, the tasting notes, the story behind the wine, the varietal. Nothing! We got maybe 3 sips from each tasting. The owner was also there and wasn't super friendly. Also every wine was nearly identical - no variety in the tastings whatsoever. We left so disappointed. Definitely won't be returning. read more

The only reason I gave La Lieff 5 stars was because 6 was not an option! Women owned and operated tasting room near Shalhoobs in the Funk Zone just opened and is well located and has a great vibe and energy. And most important..... the wine is beautiful! Seriously best in town. We couldn't decide on our favorite... Rosé of Grenache? Sauvignon Blanc? Grenache? Grenache Syrah blend? All are amazing!! You cannot go wrong with any of them. Gretchen explained her women centric approach to La Lieff. The grapes are from her family ranch, her wine makers are women and now she has launched her own tasting room.
