This really is the perfect place for both wine AND food. So far we've been in a couple times sitting in the bar area and also out on their comfy patio space. Our servers Alex and Kayla were exceptional at both suggesting some delicious lunch items, and also giving a rundown on their different wine tastings. They gave us some helpful information on the assorted varietals and vintages as well. We went in specifically for their M5 and Riviera Rose, but discovered their extensive selection of other varietals and vintages. Came away with some new favorites: Sauvignon Blanc, Trois Blondes (a delicious white blend), Viognier, Mourvedre, and Estate Syrah. Perfect that they open at noon for lunch. We paired our wines with their Santa Barbara Smokehouse Salmon, Smoked Duck and Arugula Salad, Chicken Pesto Sandwich, and Sausage Mushroom & Carmelized Onion Pizza. I'm giving this place 3 stars because of the efforts of one server to keep things afloat outside. When we arrived, another large party had just left outside and she immediately cleaned one of their tables so we could sit. It was chilly so she tried to light the heat lamp at my request but both that one and the replacement did not work. The replacement actually had the propane disconnected so I assume someone knew that tank needed to be changed out but didn't do it. The other tables from the large party were full of wine glasses and a half eaten pizza. Those sat there for over an hour, and we watched several groups of people come but leave without being seated because no server was available yo seat them and the only open table hadn't been cleared. When it was finally cleared, one guest at a near by table commented that the pizza shouldn't go to waste. The girl who cleared the table initially carried it inside but came right back out with it and served it to that guest whose kid ate it. I'm all for not wasting food and if the guest had gotten up and grabbed the pizza himself, that would be one thing... but to serve old food that had been sitting out for a long time to a guest is a no no for a business. We otherwise enjoyed most of the wines in our tasting flight. Would've given 5 stars if service had been more timely, tables cleared and old food not served up. read more

Their wines are lovely- both red and white, with some rare varietals like picpoul from France. I loved their M5 reserve blend- like a good Chateauneuf du pape. I'm normally more into reds but felt they all had too much tannin for my taste . (Most syrahs) You do get your tasting fee waived for 3 bottles . Perfect place to start out or wine tasting afternoon! We were recommend to come here- and we were not disappointed! We started with a bottle of Sav Blanc- but honestly, mostly there for the lunch menu. We shared the bruschetta (traditional, refreshing and delicious- the tomatoes were so sweet), empanadas (savory with a little kick, fried perfectly- crunchy on the outside, creamy on the inside), the Cali Salad (very light, the addition of the apricots mixed with the goat cheese was tasty) and the margarita pizza (again very traditional- the basil was fresh and the flavors were perfect). So much to say about this quintessential wine tasting room. Not only offering some of the best single varietals and blends, but also now offering a menu of cheese, charcuterie, small bites, sandwiches and pizzas, salads, and sweets. It is their Riviera Rose and M5 Blends (both Red and White) that have always been my favorites, but now with their new food menu I have been trying all their other wines and pairing them with tasty offerings. Thanks to staff Kayla, Calla, Maddy, and Alex for taking care of us during our lunchtime visits. It's so nice to have knowledgable people who are passionate about their wines, and are helpful with food recommendations. Food wise, my current favorites have been the SB Smokehouse Salmon on Cucumber, Tuna Melt with Seascape Cheese, Smoked Duck, Cherry & Goat Cheese Salad, and always their Rori's Margerum Amaro Ice Cream. This was our absolute favorite.. we came in on a Saturday. Tasted some very delicious wines. Couple of our favorites were the Pinot Noir and the rosé. Everyone was so friendly so very busy tasting room. Super cute.. They do offer food I believe I saw some very tasty flatbreads going by . We were going to lunch otherwise we would've had one . We decided the next day on Sunday to come back and purchase the rosé and our absolute favorite the Barden Pinot Noir . 2020 It is so smooth and so velvet just a lovely sip . The gal that was helping us , Lisa. She was absolutely fantastic. We had a great conversation tasted some more wines. This is by far our favorite. This is a nice tasting room near the funk zone and a few blocks off of Cabrillo. I read about Margerum in Wine Spectator magazine so we decided to give it a try while in Santa Barbara. They had a few different flights to choose from. My wife and I got two different flights (five wines each ) so we could try 10 different wines. While the experience was good, i only found 1 wine that compelled me to buy two bottles. Cala was our host/server. She occasionally got distracted by her phone which slowed our tasting experience, which probably wasn't a bad thing. But these phone distractions didn't represent Margerum very well. read more

Dog friendly! After trying to visit a few other Tasting Rooms that turned out to not be dog friendly, we happily stumbled across Margerum Wine while walking to our next destination. The interior is modern and spacious, but most of the seating is outside. The patio is well appointed and most tables are near a heater. I had the Main Tasting Flight as I was intrigued by the variety of wines offered, and my companion had the STA Rita Hills Flight. Both flights were fantastic, and I definitely plan to return next time I'm in town. Service was attentive, and tasting pours were adequately paced. My husband and I had a fantastic afternoon last week at Margerum. We had gone kayaking in the morning and wanted some refreshing wine along with a charcuterie board and this was absolutely perfect. The charcuterie was amazing and had everything we wanted, sweet, salty and everything in between. The bread is so fresh- just wished there was more! The setting is beautiful. You can see palm trees everywhere. The seating is very comfortable. Overall, a very beautiful place and servers were very nice and accommodating. The only downside is that the red wines were all chilled, which ruined the tasting experience. I contemplated buying a bottle of the M5 reserve (only $50), but I just couldn't tell if I'd like it, based on the red wine being so cold. My husband and I were in Santa Barbara for a concert, so we took advantage of the opportunity and drove up early to make time for the Funk Zone. We usually cruise by Santa Barbara and hit our favorite wineries in Santa Rita Hills, so I was excited to check out some new places! After a little research, I was really excited to see Margerum. I had a few of their wines before in the past and we always drive by their estate when we're on our way to Los Olivos. After visiting a mediocre tasting room first, this was exactly what we needed. First, the tasting room is awesome. High ceilings, great decor and comfy furniture. I also appreciate that there is loud music blaring. So relaxing. Yes, please! Our server was fantastic. She was so knowledgable about the wines, the different varietals, old-world origins and how the wine maker works his magic. I absolutely loved nerding out and learning more about their wines. Honestly, we loved all the wines on the tasting menu, but I think my favorite their Happy Canyon Sauvignon Blanc. I also had a glass of their Picpoul, which was not on the tasting menu, and it was fantastic! We also ordered the duck toast and it was delicious. I wish I would have saved it to eat with the reds, but it was just too good and I couldn't stop myself. We were so impressed with Margerum. Their wines were fantastic, the service was great and love their knowledgable staff. Hands down the best tasting room we went to that weekend. Located in a great location in Santa Barbara we were able to find parking at a structure around the corner which is great. It was pretty empty and we were seated immediately on the patio since we have our dog. They are dog friendly which is a plus. They provided us the menu and they have a large selection of flights , I had a question regarding the wine flights and asked for her recommendation and the waitress provided ZERO recommendations. We decided on the Syrah Flight. We ordered a flatbread pizza to try as well which was very good! The wine flight had a great variety of wines , they were all great. My disappointment was the server when she would pour a new wine, she explained maybe the bare minimum with no passion or enthusiasm (not great customer service) . I think I maybe expected more given I love wine and have extraordinary experiences when wine tasting even at a restaurant . We ended up buying a bottle be a use we did enjoy the wine . The M5 was hands down the best glass of wine I have over LDW in Santa Barbara. We had a fantastic time in the tasting room; were fortunate enough to pop up and get in without a reservation. Flights were super reasonably priced and there is room for getting tastings comped if you buy a few bottles. For sure left with a bottle of M5 and may be swayed to pick up a bottle of Amaro when we go back. Didn't get a chance to taste the tuna melt - I'm a sucker for tuna melts - but I hear it is fantastic.
