We stopped by the cheese shop next door, and ended up here after. I love that they can split the tastings between red and white, and you still get 5 or 5 pours each. My hubby loves red wine, I love white. Both of our tastings were really good. I discovered a new white varietal I hadn't tried before. The Rousanne. It was so good we purchased a couple bottles and joined the club. Our host started out shy, but ended up friends with my hubby before we left. Not only was the wine absolutely fantastic, but the service and business owners went above and beyond to satisfy us. Met up with a few friends here recently and it was the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine and socialize! Such comfy seating inside and beautiful decor. We were able to easily find a place to sit on a Tuesday afternoon and the service was really prompt. Our order was taken quickly and the staff checked on us a few times to be sure we didn't need anything. They have a great selection of wines. Others in my party enjoyed a rosé option and a red. Spoiler alert...I joined the wine club on my first visit to Kunin..... In Santa Barbara you can find multiple wineries who produce beautiful wines sourced from estate or other vineyards up and down the California coast, but I often have a hard time finding one where I like everything they make. Kunin was this winery for me. Perhaps it was the beautiful sunny day sitting outside while safely socially distancing? Perhaps it was the kind staff? Perhaps it was that they source some of their grapes from Pink? (Bottles they call 'rockstar'). But my tasting experience was magical, relaxed, and everything poured delighted by palate in different ways. From the wonderful rose to rich reds, Kunin had something for everyone. The cherry on the top was the chocolate truffles they presented me for joining the wine club. Yumm! Club shipping price and cadence is very reasonable. We happened to stop by this store and tried out the wine that they are offering. The owner robbed us by not telling us the best deal that they are offering.(they offer $25 for 5 glasses, but he charged me 34 for two.) He also took my unfinished wine and told me that he will pour me a new one (and charge me one more time). I noticed this later on and told him this is not right. He had no reaction on my complaint. Poor service and dishonest owner!!! read more

Wine: they offer a good mix of both red and whites here. The tasting flight is $15 each (red or white). I tried the white flight and ended up purchasing a bottle of the '16 sav blanc. Ambience: this tasting room is modern compared to more rustic styles in other tasting rooms in this area. They have an open layout with a counter in the center and some seating around the walls. Service: the service was a bit lacking when I visited. Although I went on a Saturday and all the seats were full, there were moments when all three staff were just cleaning glasses when there were guests with glasses that needed to be filled. We had to flag down one of the staff several times to get the next tasting. Overall, I'd visit this place again and maybe try the reds next time! read more

We had made reservations in Santa Barbara to two different places several weeks ago and they never bothered to call to let us know they would be closed. Quite a disappointment. Took a friend up for wine tasting to some of the tasting rooms in the Funk Zone today, and wanted to drop by Kunin - not to taste - but to solely buy a couple bottles of their signature blend 'Special K'. Upon walking into Kunin's tasting room, the attendant (shaved head with the blue shirt in the photo attached) made a face that my friend and I were speaking Spanish, and instead motioned for a Caucasian couple behind us to attend to them instead, and completely shut us out. I've never been denied service before in the state of California for being Latino, so this was a first experience for me. Although I've enjoyed the wines here in the past, I won't be back - and will let my other Latino friends who also drive up from LA to wine taste not to patron this winery again. read more

Wine tastes are subjective, but I'm more experienced than a weekend "whoo-hoo" drinker. IMO, the red wines here are among the worst I've tasted anywhere. ALL of them went into the dump bucket. I can't tell you how or why the wines all taste like somebody put in an overwhelming amount of black pepper in every glass or why there was no fruit present, but that's what it tasted like. It overwhelmed my tastebuds to the point that I couldn't get rid of the terrible aftertaste even after having a tasting elsewhere afterwards. What makes this even more odd is that the same winemaker makes the wine at The Valley Project and none of those wines exhibited the same characteristics. I highly recommend this place to all the hoardes of bachelorette party groups! read more

It's was our first day in Santa Barbara and we wanted to hit up the famed Funk Zone so we walked on over from our hotel and stopped in at Kunin Wines to start our wine tasting extravaganza. We sat at the stools around the counter. Nice little place. Relaxed atmosphere. We looked over their list of wines and chose to go with a couple of flights... one white and on red. The hostess was very pleasant and helpful in explaining the background of their wines. Each tasting was very good. We decided to take a bottle of the Jurassic Park Chenin Blanc. It was a raw wine which was very flavorful and slightly cloudy. We were told raw wines are not the norm but are becoming more and more popular amongst the newer generation of wine drinkers. It was interesting and tasted very good. There were a few other selections that were pretty good too which we will most likely pickup another time. read more

When we were there back in November, we had missed this cluster of tasting rooms and was excited to have found them. Unfortunately, Kunin landed with 3 stars... I did not know Kunin offered baby bottles. Not cute! This busy and busing at the seams tasting room offers 2 winery selections from Kunin and Westerly but I would stick with Kunin. The room is bright, airy and loud with conversation. The Pape Star, a Rhone blend was great but afternoon came to a screeching halt with the manager/owner/bad parent's toddler ran into us while navigating her walker. Yes, I said baby! What the hell is a kid doing in a wine tasting room? And she belonged to an employee. This was extremely inappropriate. To the fathers, well, defense, he did say they don't usually let her roam around with it's this busy. Hold the phone! This is a regular assurance? Can't you afford child care so you can come to work and pay attention to the paying customers rather than watching out for your kid. I'm not even sure it's legal to have a minor there (I'm not certified by the California Alcoholic Beverage Control) but it sure isn't cool. The wine, worth the tasting. The wines were mostly really good here. The tasting room was nice. Fun, light place. The service was odd and oddly insulting, which I have rarely experienced, thankfully! First of all, the server automatically corrected my pronunciation of Mourvèdre - incorrectly. Secondly, there were 5 wines on the tasting list, but only 3 were poured. Thirdly, the couple next to us offered to buy a bottle of wine for us all to share as it was our anniversary and theirs in a couple days and we were really enjoying talking (they were awesome!). The lovely wife asked for the top of the line bottle but the pourer said to the husband, "oh don't do that, go for something cheaper" and waved at us. The wines were not that much more in cost, we had not asked for any wine, least of all top of the line (that was them) but I do not appreciate being waved at like a stray dog simply because what - we had on T-shirts? Very poor form and upbringing on his part. Besides, frankly, the bottle the pourer opted for - Mourvèdre - was too much on the sour side for my palette. I had, up to that moment, considered bringing some Kunin home but that cinched it for me. The customer service is subpar. We tried three wines and two of the three I very much enjoyed, in terms of quality, the quality is high and the wines overall, quite enjoyable. read more

Magan Kunin and her team hosted a super "pick up picnic" on Saturday--a novel approach to collecting our quarterly shipment of bottles. The setting at Elings Park could not have been better--what an oasis, plus perfect for families with children. The food was simple, beautiful and tasty. The wines? Outstanding as always. Everytime I come into Kunin I have an incredible experience! I'm always greeted with a smile from Heather, Mickey, or Robbie along with incredible wine each time. This is a really cute tasting room located in the funk zone right next to corks and crowns. This place is relaxing and has a postive vibe to it. They have more white's then red's here which is nice for the white drinkers. They have a very open layout in the tasting room, AC, and even a water station which is nice. This tasting room also allows dogs which is nice since most other tasting rooms do too! They even allow children as well. I have tasted through both the white flight, red flight, and have even tried some of their rose wines as well. Each time tasting the wine, the staff has gone through to tell me about each wine in detail. The Pape Star is my favorite wine that they have. Everyime I go there and they have it in stock I always buy a bottle or two to have on hand. Overall I will would recommend this place to anyone looking to try some incredible Santa Barbara wines. The great wine, service, staff, and location make this place one of my favorite tasting rooms in Santa Barbara. read more
