Easily my favorite brewery in all of Goleta. Heck, maybe even all of SB. I used to work and live within walking distance to this neat locale, and while I don't frequent it to the level I once did, I try and make a point to stop in from time to time. Really neat lofty vibe with an abundance of seating options, televisions, and board games. The bar is large and the service is top notch. I'm a big fan of their Severance IPA but also seem to veer toward their Mas Macho lager with a lime slice - it's rather refreshing on a hot day. Speaking of hot, the venue (especially the upstairs portion) tends to get pretty toasty during the warmer months, so dress appropriately. I love how Draughtsmen offers food trucks nearly every night along with the occasional live music setup. Makes for a fun weekend day while enjoying the best of Goleta. The only drawback is the parking. There are maybe 10 off-street spots, and the little cul-de-sac's parking tends to fill up quickly. You may have to park in the shopping center across the street. Would be nice to see a lighted crosswalk connecting Santa Felicia and Hollister. Definitely come here if you're seeking some amazing beer and a good vibe! read more

Solid beers, though not my favorites in town. Decent outdoor area, good amount of space if coming with a large group. They are working on their landscaping but so slow! A cool little area where you'd least it expect it. There are a lot of tables to choose from. The beer menu is small but good. I like places that specialize in a few beer but have the flavors down. We had the Buxom Blonde to start. It was good to start next was the triage. It had a different after taste to it.sort of licorice-y. Not really my cup of tea. I really enjoyed the Crimson clever. And severance. Also got the sampler to taste the darker IPA's that I knew I couldn't drink a full pint. Overall good beer. I will be back. They had pretzels and it's a really cool relaxed atmosphere. Draughtsmen is what happens when it all comes together just right:-) I've been doggedly following the progress of Draughtsmen Aleworks since I first learned of their plans to open early this year. We're not short on breweries in the area at the moment (not a bad problem to have I might add:-) but as their contemporaries in brewing set up shop over the years, down the street, across the way, even across town, I'd visit, and enjoy but ultimately find there was a little something missing. Sometimes the beers weren't my style, other times it was the crowded tourist scene or even the fact that sometimes I was the only person there without an infant in a baby seat!? :-o But whatever my (perceived) issues were, I always kept hoping that someone would eventually open a funky/cool brewpub that didn't take itself too seriously yet had really good beer and was in a location a bit out of the mainstream. Kind of a "locals" joint if you will. Not much to ask for really, right :-) ? Well, now there is just such a place and as I took the first sip of the first beer at Draughtsmen, I knew this was it. I know, it sounds a bit melodramatic and I suppose it is (a bit) but the bottom line it Draughtsmen DOES have it all: Great people who are friendly and love what they are doing, a cool, casual vibe in a nice out-of-the-way (but not too far out of the way) location, and, of course an excellent selection of really good beers including a Blonde, a Wit, a Trippel, a Red, an IPA , a Double IPA and a Porter and I'm sure there will be some specialty beers to come once they been open for a while. In a way, I hesitate to write such a review for fear the place will be over-run, but hey it's a great place, they're great folks and they deserve the success for putting it all together :-) read more

The Goleta Brewery scene is getting better and better and this place might be my new favorite. I liked every single one of their beers. Although my two favorites are the Crimson & Clover (Red Ale) and the white dwarf (white ale). The IPA (Severance) was just hoppy enough to not be over powering to allow the flavor of the beer to come through. You can really see the attention to detail they put into their beers down to how to how they clean their glasses. You can really see the attention to detail they put into everything. The staff is also super friendly and welcoming. Basically, you need to make your way out to Goleta and try it for yourself. I'm sure you won't be disappointed. read more

My current main beer hang. One of the few local craft brewers not solely devoted to IPA. They have some very fine dark beers...porter and stout...that are very often on nitro. Excellent! Currently I'm told a Russian stout is about to be released. Can't wait! They don't serve food and no wifi yet but you can order local pizza for delivery. Love it when Cuba's taco truck shows up. read more

I'm a fan of Draughtsmen but they are new and have some flaws that make me prefer the nearby M Special. Draughtsmen has a small but balanced selection of beer. My favorite is the Triage tripel. They have a couple good options for dark beers (Specter irish stout and Mean & Potatoes porter), but unfortunately both are low on alcohol (4% and 5.5%) which seems redundant. I wish one was an imperial. I love the casual ambiance, but with little/no outdoor seating, no indoor televisions, no games for the kids, and rare appearance of food trucks, you won't currently find anything at Draughtsmen that isn't done better at M Special. In particular, finding parking is a huge hassle at Draughtsmen, and you may find yourself needing to park over by the DMV on the other side of Hollister. Here's hoping they can obtain permitting for outdoor seating, bring in more kid friendly activities, and convince food trucks to stop by more often. read more

My favorite brewery in the area. Does not feel like it's placating to the tourists, but is really into their style of beer. Their nama biru is my favorite. Rice beer, and subtle, but extremely hard to do. Most places have overly hoppy offerings, but this place does nuance well, which is difficult to find in small production places. Add to this the fact that they usually have a food cart/truck on the weekends, and it's my favorite weekend hang out that isn't overly stuffy, but just makes great beer. I absolutely love this brewery. They have fantastic beer! I have tried what seems like a bajillion IPAs (my favorite kind of beer) and their Exuberance is on the top of my list. The atmosphere is casual and fun. The service is always friendly. The regular crowd is great and most importantly, (to me), this is a super FAMILY FRIENDLY brewery. They have couches, TVs, upstairs and downstairs seating, and frequently have rotating food tucks. I highly recommend this brewery! read more

Goleta is getting flooded with new breweries, and thats a good thing because they are still packed and in need. This one is the latest, and the beer and the setup and the staff are super duper. I'm not a craft brew snob, but really enjoyed the Blonde, cause that's how I roll. The only downside is it's location: there is hardly any parking on this cul de sac, and who wants to try to drive near Storke and Hollister with all of the Orange County development the city council OKed. That's more a dig against the city of Goleta though. The place is awesome, and I will be there. Often. read more

We're pretty spoiled with an abundance of great hometown craft brew companies in Santa Barbara lately... Don't get me wrong I love several others too, but Draughtsmen is a cut above the rest. Killer selection (IPA fans take note, awesome possum is worth writing home about!). The venue is awesome, with ample *dog friendly* room on two stories. What makes or breaks a place is the human element though. Draughtsmen has that covered, such a friendly staff. Never had bad service. And I love how genuinely giving they are to the local community. Go there any day but trivia Tuesday (in which case it is popping off, which is super enjoyable too), and you'll find the most chill hidden gem of a spot to enjoy a brew or two with the talented, exceptionally kind brewmasters. This place is really good! I've tried many of their beers and every time, I've been impressed! Their tasting room is much quieter than others so if you're looking for a more intimate place to enjoy a beer- this is your place! The only downside is that they don't have much of an outdoor area other than a couple tables at the entrance. However, my favorite spot to hangout is upstairs on the couches! They're never super crowded and you can almost always find a seat in my experience! read more

I try any and all of them I can and this by far has the best taste. Even if you are not gluten sensitive you will really enjoy this beer, it's a yummy pale ale with light and refreshing notes to it, and it comes in pint size cans! I've been to goleta's newest addition to the craft beer scene a couple of times now. It is definitely worth going to. The beer is awesome. I personally find it to be the best in goleta at the moment. They generally have a nice variety, including a Belgian style which is nice. They also have a couple of IPA's which are all good. They have something on nitro too, which is always worth checking out. The prices are right on par with what you would expect. They have a good location. Maybe not as prime as some of the other breweries but still easy to get to and a good amount of street parking. However i love the industrial, unfinished look of the place. Inside there is plenty of room and it isn't cramped. There are plenty of different seating options, from big tables to couches to fit whatever need you have. There is also a nice loft. The actual bar is a little small, which is a bummer. The owner is an awesome guy and fun to talk to. Also since he had a tech background it's easy for me to relate with him. They have no actual food, other then chips and nuts, but they regularly have local food trucks over. If your in the area, you should definitely take the trip up here to try this place. read more
