We have been visiting this wine shop once a year for the past few years and look forward to it every time. It's very unassuming but that's the best part. Chill vibes. Samsara winery is located about 10-15 minutes away from Santa Barbara, and tucked away off Los Carneros Rd. I love checking out new wineries I haven't been to, and came across this one on Tik Tok. There's ample parking here with other small businesses in this little plaza. Such as Captain Fatty's Brewery and Green Star coffee. The winery itself is located around the corner once you drive in. Look for the signage directing you towards the back. They have a nice outdoor patio area, but I chose to sit inside on my visit. I was the only person there most likely because it was a weekday. I decided to do a tasting of the reds. It was $30, which seemed a little high but the wine is from the Santa Rita Hills region. Anyone who knows about STA. is aware that they have the best Pinots. I enjoyed each tasting and Julie was really good at explaining each pour. The Pinot and Syrah/Grenache/Mourvèdre were my favorites. I also appreciate that I didn't get a headache after sampling the wines. That's a huge plus! Overall, I had a nice experience here. I would love to come back and try their wine specials and listen to live music on a Sunday Funday afternoon. read more

Service, wine, ambiance...so great! We stopped by on our little weekend getaway and we are so happy we did. We did the tastings, me the variety and my husband the pintos that they were highlighting. Each wine was so good. I'm not a Chardonnay person but theirs were really good. They're dog friendly, which is always a plus in my book. They also offer cheese and crackers (extra cost of course) and they waive your tasting fee if you buy 3 bottles. Samsara is definitely a great winery to try on your way up to wine country. read more

This is a hidden gem! Nestled near the Goleta neighborhoods by lake Los Carneros, this place has full service wine tasting and lots of bottles to try! Primarily sourced from the Santa Rita hills, you can taste the quality that you would expect from California wine. While the weather is mild, I recommend stopping by and grabbing a seat in their extended outdoor area, filled with several fire pits to lounge around while you sip. For everyone who knows just how special the Santa Rita Hills/Santa Ynez Valley is for exquisite wines, Samsara Wine is the place to be to taste and experience just how special that Appellation has been. A very friendly tasting room with comfy seating inside or out. And pet friendly too. We were greeted by the tasting room English Cream mascot, Gus. He welcomed us warmly and kept us entertained throughout the tasting. Our server Anna was very gracious in walking us through the delicious tasting, and made sure we knew exactly where each bottle was harvested, as well as the history behind those special vineyards. Hard to pick a favorite, which means we will definitely be back to revisit each one. Thoroughly enjoyed their tasting list of Rose of Mouvedre/Grenache, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Gamay, Grenache, and their Cuvee d'Inspiration, Syrah/Grenache. Their intimate tasting room is located off Hwy 101 at the Los Carneros exit. Plenty of parking, and within crawling distance of Captain Fatty's Brewery. read more

Great wine tasting room--might be the only one in Goleta, and it really delivers. The wines are solid across the board, with grapes sourced from Sta. Rita Hills, which I think produces some of the best grapes around. The space is unassuming but transforms into a cozy, welcoming spot. There's a nice outdoor area too, perfect for a relaxed afternoon with a glass in hand. Chill vibe, good pours, and definitely worth a visit if you're into local wine. read more

My husband and I, visited Santa Barbara, and Solvang over the Christmas Holidays and me being a wine guy, we just HAD to stop into Samsara's tasting room in Los Olivos! MIA is Fantastic! 5 STARS ALL AROUND FOR MIA! From the second we stepped in, MIA greeted us, explained the history of the winery and different soil structures, and really helped to guide us in our wine selections. Just when it couldn't get any better, another couple came in and joined us, and then MIA brought out her guitar and THE MAGIC BOOK! More people came in and she made damn sure everyone felt welcomed and her service NEVER slipped. She sang to all of us and truly created a magical time. We didn't want to leave at closing!This trip, the wine, and MIA, was incredible. I had the $35 Red Wine flight and holy smokes! Every single wine was incredible! I'm not just saying this, ( I work in a wine shop that carries your Pinot ) every wine was spectacular. MIA even showed us and explained all of the different soils structures. The 2012' Zotovich Syrah- Everything I want in life ! The 2017' Colson Canyon Syrah- absolutely singing! The 2021' Radiant PN- Silky, Elegant, Mysterious, and we all crave more! We love Samsara! It's a great place to meet up with friends for a tasting or glass of wine. They have lots of outdoor seating and cozy indoor area (with air conditioning). All of the staff is super friendly and the wine is delicious. On our most recent visit we tried the Summer to Chill tasting which consists of all chilled wines, perfect for a hot summer day. Recently had the opportunity to try Samsara and had a great time at their Goleta location. Pretty easy to find with parking available right out front. Indoor and outdoor seating options. They have two different wine tasting options, one of which is all red, but I opted for the one that included whites. All of the wines were excellent. Samsara was our first tasting room visit after arriving to LAX and heading to Buellton. Devon was a great hostess and poured some very lovely wines for us with a great variety. It was a beautiful afternoon so we were able to sit on their very cute patio out front. Joan, the owner came out to speak to us and even allowed us to go to the back where they were crushing the grapes and filling the barrels. My boyfriend has been a member for many years and I've been fortunate to be able to enjoy them with him at home. I would highly recommend visiting Devon to taste some very good wines. read more

I had been longing for the wine scene to spread into Goleta given that it's everywhere else along the Central Pacific Coast, Malibu in the south to Paso Robles in the north. SAMsARA is on the forefront by opening up their barrel and tasting room near Captain Fatty's Brewery off the 101 and Los Carneros on December 1st, 2018. They still have a second tasting room in Los Olivos and a production room not open to the public in Lompoc. The tasting room manager Devon is welcoming and very knowledgeable after working several years at DV8 in the Funk Zone. The tasting room's space is surprisingly open and modern given that it's in an industrial area. They currently have on the tasting menu a chardonnay, two pinot noirs, a grenache and a syrah. I personally enjoyed the 2014 Santa Rita Hills Pinot and 2014 Grenache. Each tasting includes five wines for $15 per person. Note: A tasting fee is waived with 3 bottle purchase. Winemaker Matt Brady previously worked for Jaffurs over ten years and has mastered the winemaking process of local Santa Rita Hills grapes. He doesn't add additional yeast for fermentation and no fining or filtering. All his wine is placed into French oak barrels that are stored on-site in a 55-degree cellar for 18 (Pinot) - 24 (Syrah) months. The tasting room is open Thursday thru Monday 12pm-7pm (perfect for an after work drink). Keep in mind that they're closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but you can make an appointment for a private tasting or rent it for an event space. It is a bit hidden so travel to the far end of the industrial area that faces the Freeway 101 to find it (Yelp map location is correct). I've heard word that more wineries are moving into Goleta and I look forward to these additions. read more

Glad to see wine tasting moving out to Goleta with the craft beer and cider. Nice tasting room, clean and modern. Staff was cordial but; not impressed with the service or wine. The tasting room was not very busy however I had to go back up to bar every time for my next pour. The pours were maybe two small swallows and $20.00 a tasting is a little steep. The wine was good but not any better than other less pricey options. Not rushing back here, many other more inviting tasting rooms to try. We spent a couple of days during the last crush with the folks at SAMsARA, where we got to know all of the staff in person. We have been club members for several years, but this was the first time we got to see the Goleta facility in person. What a wonderful and well-run facility and organization! We decided we were in the need of some new wines, and discovered Samsara was close to where we live. There are no wineries out in Goleta since Foley moved from the Bacara location so we were happy to find it.... We haven't joined a new winery in a couple of years due to COVID, so we thought we'd go by and see if it was a good place to try some new wines. It was early and there was no one in it but our wine steward Chris so we stayed. The tasting room is spacious and comfortable, and the wines were incredible... Chris is so knowledgeable and such a great person to talk to, we ended up staying well over an hour. We immediately joined the club and went home with a case, we were back later for another case a week later to fill our wine fridge and have comfortably settled in to our new stash.... we will be heading back soon for a refill! After some friends had recommended this place to me many times I took time to meet some friends for happy hour here a few weeks ago. It was nice to see a wine tasting room in Goleta. I decided to just do a glass of wine after checking out their menu. I waited for a few minutes at the counter and then finally got served. I ended up just going with the pinot noir which was fairly good! The body was nice and full which was great! I loved the pinot noir it was very delish. I've been back several times and joined their wine club. Lily Hays-director of hospitality and Devon DeFazio-wine club manager have always made imparted their tremendous knowledge of their wines and the the whole Santa Ynez Valley AVA. Samsara wines are delicious, bold, structured, and balanced. Winemaker Matt Brady is to thank for that. He is amazing. Rejoice Goleta! We finally have it all :-) after several years of enjoying multiple craft brewers and even now a cidery. Goletians ( and visitors) can finally enjoy our very own full service winery and tasting room. Located on Calle Real a few spaces away from one of our excellent breweries ( captain fattys) Samsara has opened up its main tasting room and winery facility. ( there's the original out in Los Olivos too). Having a full winery with tasting room and production facility is a true godsend for Goodland wine lovers and a bold first for owners David and Joan as well as veteran wine maker Matt Brady. Yes THAT Matt Brady, the guy who put the "Kick Ass" into Jaffurs and Granddaddy wines for the past 10 years or so. That's an unbeatable combination IMHO :-). I've been following this project since I heard rumors about it over a year ago and I'm privileged and lucky to get to experience the soft opening this past weekend. I can't encourage a visit to Samsara any more strongly. The wines are great now and they will only get better as Matt shepherds ever more vintages from vineyard to bottle. Beyond that the crew from owner and winemaker on down is top notch. Everyone knows everything about the wines being poured and the story behind the brand. Even though our visit coincided with the height of COVID protocols, Lily made us feel welcome, provided us with a first-rate tasting, was welcoming toward our dogs, and even provided us with a tour of the operations room.
