A beautiful winery with great outdoor seating, decent wine, and some fun outdoor games. If you can, would recommend reserving a trellis - good views and some privacy. It's bring your own food which is nice. Only thing is to not leave your food unattended as they will proactively toss it, even if it's a full loaf of bread. My visit to Old Creek Ranch Winery was my first time at a winery and my first time doing wine tasting. The experience was nothing short of enjoyable and relaxing, and somewhere I would love to visit again (if only it were closer!) This is a great spot for a date night or for groups of friends to share a bottle or two right next to the vineyards. The property was beautiful this time of year and they even had goats (as pictured) and chickens near the front of the ranch. My only suggestion regarding the wine drinking would be to skip out on the wine tasting if you already have an idea of what bottles you enjoy, especially if you are on a budget since the tasting serving sizes are very small! read more

Such a beautiful winery! The place is pretty sprawling with several seating areas to choose from. We sat overlooking the vineyards in a prime seating area, despite not having a reservation. They have a wine membership program, like so many of these places do nowadays, which made our tastings discounted from $30 to $6 a piece. None of the wine really stood out to me except for the El Camino - a red blend with syrah and grenache. The Albariño was also pretty good. Normally when I go wine tasting, there's some wines that I don't like - I loved EVERYTHING on their wine flight! So good, such a nice transition to the next wine also. Smart plays. The service was quick and frequent which was appreciated. The land and sitting area - omg, BEAUTIFUL! I love how they strategically placed all the tables under shade or trees. No matter where you sat, you were comfortable. Just enough space to keep a conversation with your group and stay out the way of the others. The ONLY con - is there was no charcuterie board with how nice the establishment was I just knew there would be some good board selections. The snack boxes we ordered were good but a board would've set it over the top! I am no stranger to wine tasting. The wines were average and way over priced. We had a lovely greeting and the place was beautiful. We were looking for a couple of bottles of wine for our dinner later. Unfortunately we left with zero wines and minus $60 for tasting for TWO! We had to pay upfront. They did not give any info on the winery. We had to read a paper about the individual wines notes. Once they got your money they were on to the next new customer. Definitely the worst wine I have tasted at that price range. I've had better in the $20 dollar range of wines. I got the impression from notes that they didn't even produce wine there. Learned lesson is don't go wine tasting in Ojai. read more

I've been to this winery a few times and it's become my favorite! It's very secluded and the area around is stunning. There is so much space and everytime I've been there it's not that crowded. They have great wine and a relaxing atmosphere. I wanted to give a special thanks to the staff (I think their names were Carl and Henry) for hosting my sister's engagement this past weekend. They went above and beyond to make sure she was surprised and made sure our group of 20+ people had everything we needed. I feel I'm in paradise whenever we come! Nestled in the canyon among the vineyards, oaks and other trees Lots of beautiful seating areas among trees and under vines. You can bring your own food and non-alcoholic drinks. They have water stations. You can do tasting flights, glasses or bottles. You pay as you go. You can reserve online for 2-3.5hr slots for bigger groups and the others are walk ins. Service is so friendly, there is plenty of parking. It's a perfect place to come sit and relax and enjoy the weather and wine. They have goats! They don't sell food. So bring your own! Check the website for all of their options for reservations and any other questions. I personally don't think the membership is worth it unless you are planning to take bottles home. It's only 10% discount on bottles and tastings. 50% off bottles to take home. They don't offer discount on reservations or anything else. And make sure to sign up for membership before coming otherwise you cannot get discounts. read more

This little winery was so cute! Came here at 4pm on a February Saturday & it was bumping. We didn't make a reservation since it was only an hour before they closed and we were able to get a seat right away. I would probably recommend making one, if you wanted to come during the middle of the day on the weekend and especially if you had a party larger than 4. They have waiters that come to your table to serve you. Since they were busy, it did take a little longer to get a drink since they only had 2 waiters who could take orders on the entire property. They had a food vender who was making fire stone pizzas but unfortunately they were all sold out by time we came. They didn't sell any other food on site which was a bummer. My friend got the flight of 6 wines for $30 and I got a glass of Sauvignon Blanc for $15. The flight was 2 whites and 4 reds so if you like reds then the flight is the best option to go with. Unbelievably beautiful space. The perfect place to gather outside with a big group and enjoy some wine and views. There are many diverse and delicious wines available on the menu, and the prices are reasonable. There is plenty of outdoor seating -- mostly picnic tables and some areas with chairs. There is an area with cornhole to play and a lot of the space is grassy/shady area too. We thought we'd be very hot but were comfortable the whole time. You can bring your own food, and it seemed commonplace that folks brought picnics, which was really lovely. The staff was super welcoming from the get-go. This is a beautiful and peaceful location. The trellis seating is somewhat private so you can enjoy your wine and relax, while taking in a view of the vineyard and hills. There ARE bees that fly around you constantly but as long as you ignore them they really don't do anything. The winery is in a secluded setting but not far off of the main road. The staff is very friendly and once seated (outdoor grape vine-covered booth) the ambiance takes over. Very pretty view of vineyard and forest...but that's just the start. The wine is spectacular. Napa, Sonoma, Temecula, Santa Clara county...all have great wines however any of these places can be (have been) beat out easily by OCRW! My friends and I have been here multiple times. We like to celebrate at OCR. It's beautiful. We were there last Saturday and man was it hot. We were lucky to have reserved a spot in the shade. There was a breeze coming in which was nice. We enjoyed a few bottles and then Ubered to a restaurant in Ojai. The service was great. It was blistering hot and our host kept checking in. First time visiting Old Creek Ranch's winery and vineyards and really enjoyed the beautiful property. They have a Ventura address, but it's really quite a drive from downtown, on the way up the hill to Ojai. SERVICE, WINES, & FOOD: Ashley poured for us and was friendly and efficient, but not overly detailed in explaining the various wines. Part of that is due to the way they serve you all the wines at once in mini-carafes, so you're not getting any interaction and info as you move from one wine to the next. They're currently charging $21 for six 1-ounce pours, which I thought that was a little steep. They also don't offer to waive any tasting fees with bottle purchases. I think I enjoyed the wines a little more than my wife, with my favorites being the 2018 Albariño and the 2016 Red Handed (red blend). The property is absolutely beautiful with lots of native flowers and plants, and many outdoor seating areas for tasting or enjoying a picnic. Most of the seating is under large trees that provide wonderful shade, as it was an extremely warm day on our visit, so that was a big plus. You can also reserve seating areas under a garden trellis for $25 per party. Trellises can accommodate either parties of 2 or 8, and it seemed odd that they didn't offer something in between. Overall, I really enjoyed the grounds and could find myself going back to enjoy a bottle of wine and a nice picnic beneath the trees. Definitely worth a visit. read more

My #ThankYouThursday for this year goes out to Old Creek Ranch Winery! I loved the winery's hospitality from beginning to end. A few weeks before my trip to Ojai, I went onto their website to make reservations for my party of 2. There was no deposit needed for making a reservation for 2. There was also ample availability on the reservation time as well. Upon making the reservations, it was nice that they mentioned they highly recommend guests to bring their own food for picnic. Once we arrived around noon on a Friday, my friend and I were one of a few guests there. The gentleman who greeted us was very friendly and let us choose where we wanted to sit, since it wasn't busy. We chose a spot where it was facing the vineyard under a trellis, it was beautiful! It wasn't too hot either because there was a nice breeze throughout our tasting. They had 1 tasting menu, which consisted of a few whites and a few reds. I really enjoyed all of them. The only downfall of the tasting were the hornets that kept going after our picnic food and wines! We tried to put a spread away from our table so it could attract the hornets elsewhere, but they didn't budge. Luckily we brought several napkins to cover our picnic table. One of the hornets was bold enough to fly right into my wine tasting glass. We went to the server to let her know what happened and she immediately poured a huge new glass for me, so nice! I will definitely come back and visit here again on my way to Ventura area! read more

Stunningly beautiful property; you can sit under their old sycamore, or in little private trellis areas, surrounded by grape vines, and looking out toward the oak covered hillside. Carl was hustling to get everyone well-taken care of. We enjoyed all the wines, but especially the Sangiovese, Cab Sauvignon and Firehouse Red. The 2017 Sangiovese, Cab and Grenache were on sale for 50% off i($24/bottle) if you bought 3 or more, which is a screaming deal, so we bought 4.
