Smash burger!
Deena B.

Visited this beautiful winery on a Sunday afternoon for a delightful wine tasting experience under the guidance of wine steward Michael who was not only very knowledgeable about all the wines but also very warm and friendly. All of the wine was very good! Lovely ambiance here at Herzog, the staff is so hospitable from the moment you walk in the door. The smash burger and fries were also very tasty. Highly recommend you check out this wonderful winery. Ask for Michael! He's awesome!

Lunch at Herzog. Truffle fries with a side of Wine. We had the Smash burger and the Fried Fish sandwich.

Herzog Wine Cellars is a venue that I'm proud to share with unfamiliar locals and visitors to the area. The service is stellar and the venue is charming. Wine tasting is $25 per person for a flight of 6 wines. I rather go home with a bottle of wine per person, so I never leave empty handed! As long as you buy a bottle of wine, then the wine tasting is waived. Portions are small but the quality of the food is notable. It's a perfect place to enjoy conversation with a friend, or group of friends. All while enjoying great service, good wine, and tasty tapas. Looking for a fine dining experience, make reservations for their restaurant, Tierra Sur. Or drop-in and see if their is open availability. Then start the night off with a tasting, while you wait for a table. Either way, you'll have a great time!

Automatic 22% tip added to a single glass of wine for 1 person.

I hate to say this, because I used to be a member of the wine club and have been a proponent of this establishment since day one. I'm just really disappointed that they thought it was necessary to charge a 22% tip on one glass of wine (photo) for one person. The food at the restaurant is good, but I will not rave about it since I was treated so poorly at the tasting bar. They did not make me feel welcome. I don't see a need to ever go back.

Exceptional service by Jake. The wine is amazingly delicious and the food l had while I tasted was so yummy. My only complaint is that I hadn't been here sooner...

I liked coming here for the first time for my birthday. I made a reservation online before and we showed up. We were seated immediately. It is pricer but they have great wine. There's not many fine dining places in the nearby area so this place offers more of that vibe/experience.

Tasting offerings -- try six tastes, then can revisit two

Friendly informative tasting service by all, especially Libby. No elevator to 2nd floor to view bottling line but still quite interesting self-guided walk around viewing gallery.

After living in Ventura County for over 20 years, I never knew a beautiful winery like this existed in Oxnard. As soon as you enter the building, it feels like you have entered a spa. The pace and vibe of this winery is so relaxing and the patrons are also all friendly. The staff is very well trained and attentive to everyone. I didn't have any food, but their menu looked very tempting to grab some lunch. I was here just to pick up a few bottles to buy as gifts. There is a large selection to choose from and you can sample it before purchasing. I will definitely return soon.

Happy Fat Tuesday! I think been to Herzog once before. Not sure why I haven't been back but I was missing out! My friend invited me to stop by as she is a member of their club. What a great place. So nice and not loud. My kind of spot! We had a few tastings with her membership. She can have up to 6 guests. So cool! I liked every wine I tasted and I'm not a wine person! We ordered fries and fish/chips. I really enjoyed the fries and fish but didn't care for the chips. Heather, our server, is the best! Such great customer service. Our glass was never empty and she kept refilling our water. Such great service. She also told us about the froRosé in the summer. Like whaaa... I'm there! Nowadays, I don't like loud places filled with tons of people. I like chill, relaxed more "mature" outings and this is it! Cannot wait to be back!!!!

Their deviled eggs are incredible

I've been here twice now. Once for dinner with the husband. Their menu and wine pairing were on point. Next I had friends visiting from San Diego and we did a tasting with some snacks. I meet these two in a wine group so they know their wines. One walked away with a membership so that should tell you something. Their prices are fantastic! Their wine is incredible. We were definitely there longer than the 90 minutes that it says and that speaks so well of them.

Ask the Community - Herzog Wine Cellars

Is your restaurant still kosher?

Very much so. Under OU supervision.

Do you have tastings on Thursday 09/29/23 at noon? Are you pet friendly?

We will be offering tastings on that day between noon and 8pm. We are unable to accommodate animals other than service animals. Thank you!

Do you have tastings on Mother's Day, 5/14/23? How much are the tastings for how many pours?

We have two tastings. Each for $25. The first is our standard wine flight consisting of 6 wines ranging from sweet to dry red, giving a variety of our wines. The second is a sparkling flight consisting of 5 different sparkling wines, only available… Read more

Will they do a special New Years Eve dinner with entertainment?

Unfortunately we are not open on Saturdays, so there will be no event on the 31st.

Will You have a Mother's Day Sunday Brunch?

Thank you for your question! We are having a three course Prix Fixe menu with an Amuse-Bouche for Mother's Day with the option to add bottomless mimosas. The menu can be found on our IG @herzogwine. We hope to see you!

Menu looks yummy. Just curious- how come only vegan cheese? :)

Hi Samantha! Thank you for reaching out. As a certified kosher food establishment, we cannot serve meat and dairy together in our facility. So our entire kitchen is dairy free, meaning the cheeses and chocolates contain no dairy. Thank you again and… Read more

The only downfall is, being a Kosher winery, they are closed on Saturdays, but they are open all other days of the week, and early too.

My friend and I opted to sit inside at their high top table which was a nice way to scope out the restaurant. I love that everything here is customizable! You can create your own custom charcuterie board with all your favorite pairings, then explore their impressive menu of fresh salads, melty paninis, and shareable appetizers made for lingering conversations. We shared the custom charcuterie board and avocado crostini's. Both were delicious and perfect for sharing. As for the drinks, whether you're a fan of sipping wine by the glass or sharing a bottle, they have an impressive list of local and foreign wines to pick from. Also, for those of you that aren't huge wine drinkers, I was also impressed to learn that they always have at least 10 beers rotating here. We started with Chardonnay and Moscato and ended with some Southern California beers, we agreed their selection was great. As for the staff, everyone was super welcoming and attentive! We came on a busy weekday night as they had a wine tasting event going on yet the staff still managed to get everyone served promptly and drinks were always refilled. Definitely a place where you initially come for the wine, but stay for the vibes. I'd say overall this spot truly is a 10/10 - 5 stars. The food was delicious, great menu, nice staff and a good selection of wines. I'd even come back for lunch just to grab a panini and to sit on their patio. If I had to give one critique, I would say that the spot is just a little pricey. So this wouldn't be a regular stop per se, but I loved it so much that I honestly will be back soon and keep it in mind for a special girls night, etc. Also in fairness there is a way to come here and have it be cheaper, maybe just one glass of wine and a sandwich or app but we all know I go big lol. Great spot, will be back.

Just so unwelcoming and rude. Then yes, because we did the Camarillo family walk tonight my daughter was with us so she asked if she was 21. I said no she's not. She said well she can't be in here you can sit on the patio. Understandable. But the initial way we were welcomed after regularly spending our money here is mind blowing. I regularly recommend them for charcuterie. I definitely no longer will. After reading any of the 1 star reviews I see I'm not the only one who felt this way.

If you're going to hang your hat on the speakeasy aesthetic--dim lights, hushed tones, whispers of…read moreexclusivity--then understand this: you're entering into an unspoken pact with your patrons. We expect a certain standard, a level of care that borders on obsession. So when I catch Evan Williams--respectable, questionable, but barely twelve bucks a bottle--making an appearance behind the bar, it feels like a breach of trust. A quiet betrayal under low lighting. The illusion only works if the details hold up under scrutiny... and that pour? It broke the spell. And then comes the real offense: discovering that your Old Fashioned--the crown jewel of any respectable cocktail program--are built on bottom-shelf, dust-collecting bourbon. That's not just a letdown, it's a slap in the face. A cocktail like that deserves reverence, not shortcuts. And as if to twist the knife, there it was--a massive can of red maraschino cherries sitting shamelessly atop the bar, like some relic from a dive that's given up on finesse. It wasn't just a misstep. It was disrespect. In a place claiming the speakeasy mantle, details like these matter. They're the difference between theater and parody. The cocktails did not warrant the $15 price tag. Moreover, I would have paid more had I know the class of bourbon upfront. What ultimately redeems the space is its ambiance. The low flicker of the fireplace, the soft embrace of worn leather sofas, the curated hum of music floating just above conversation--it's seductive, even soulful. The room itself is small, intimate--the kind of place where you're bound to recognize a face, or at the very least, feel inclined to invite a stranger to share the sofa and maybe a story. And then there's the setting--tucked beneath a historic relic, a basement bar built into the bones of old Americana. The building dates back to the early 1900s, echoing with a past that deserves to be honored, not phoned in. That's exactly why I expected more from the cocktails. A place with this much atmosphere shouldn't fall flat when it comes to what's in the glass. It's a mismatch--a beautiful stage, but a script that doesn't quite rise to meet it.

The cocktails change so it's always fun to come back! I always try to be there when this section opens. I love the calmness of the space and it gets livelier as the night progresses and it does get packed Always one of my highly recommended spots for people who want great drinks, fantastic atmosphere and delicious food.
