Delicious pizza and beer. To start, I will say service could've been better when I first came in. My partner and I were waiting and no one acknowledged us or said they would be with us even with 5+ mins of waiting at the register. I had to actually go up to someone and ask if they could take our order. Ordered a Big Sur (L) 14 inch and Kona Golden Ales on tap. Additionally, it felt even more weird to see at least 5 parties after us come in and get basic acknowledgement from a team member but once the food came out and I picked it up to the table, someone did come by with paper plates which was nice. They got pretty slammed from there and tickets were nearly off the metal rack but they powered through! Onto the food which is really why I came... well short to say, it was excellent! Toppings are spread out perfectly. None of the cheese or toppings really slide off like some pizza that's way too wet and oily. Things stick on. The ingredients are fresh. It was so good that we ate the whole pie. Beers are reasonably priced for being on tap. The golden ale was $3.50 for a pint! It's both "healthy" (garlic boosts the immune system, right?) and satisfying in the greasy/cheesy/delicious way that only pizza can be. So when I found out that the owner of IV Bagel Cafe (another iconic Isla Vista eatery) was bringing it back, by purchasing the recipes and equipment while keeping the existing management, I was ecstatic!! Costco comes close, there is a little place in Tarzana that had close to NY pizza. IV pizza has so so crust, flavorless sauce and toppings, and so so cheese. And the attitude of arrogant college students that think they know something. That said: it is better than rusty's, and better crust than Woodstock (which is more like cake) , which are the competitors. Woodstock has better sauce and toppings flavor, and way better attitude, but the crust ain't great. IV is also very expensive. I'd pick woodstock over them, or order from costco (only plain or pepperoni), as their crust sauce and cheese are better, or from C'adario, the italian restaurant. read more

We were looking for a local place and really glad we found this location. Voted best pizza for 2023 in the area and we could quickly see why. Despite being close to campus and lots of take out orders the service was quick. We had an entree sized salad to start which was huge and fresh. I can't begin to imagine how big the XXL sized salad would have been. They have a honey balsamic vinaigrette dressing which was awesome. We ended up getting a Maui Wowie. Got the XL size which was huge but plenty of leftovers for the next day. The sauce was tasty and a good amount. Very generous topping and the slices of Canadian bacon were huge. Not sure if any part of the pizza did not have a topping on it. For those visiting the area definitely worth the drive down to Isla Vista. read more

We all were taken back when Pizza My Heart closed their doors. While it is a chain reigning from Santa Cruz, it was an Isla Vista UCSB institution. Thanks to their neighboring embarcadero business of IV Bagel Cafe, they have resurrected this wonderful pizza pub! The pizza is made with the same recipes and ingredients which is a delight. As is their killer ranch dressing (though to charge for dipping sauce is not cool--learn from Rock Fire Grill that they should be complimentary with a purchase). Yet, what balances this one downfall out is that they have an entire section on their menu of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free pizzas! okay. I went here just now thinking there is no way that this is the best pizza, like, I wanted to be a hater SO bad but this is honest to god the best pizza I've had in my entire LIFE. This is waaaay better than the adjacent Woodstock's. The pepperonis were succulent, the cheese was melty and I wanted to savor every last bite. And all I had was a basic pepperoni. There's quite an assortment of Pizzas for shockingly cheap (with the quality, you'd think it would be way more expensive). IV pizza pub: Please never sell your soul to Yum Foods or some kind of corporation, because this pizza is out of this damn world. I'm swearing by it. The staff were very kind. Hats off to them.
