Pegaslice is Mega-good. I'd heard the buzz but have cut back on stuff like pizza so I hadn't tried it. Finally I'd heard too many good things so went in just to see what everybody has been talking about. I got a simple pepperoni slice since I'd heard it was the crust that was so good, and I really wanted to be able to judge that without too many toppings. I was NOT disappointed. It was delicious with a lovely crispness but still nice and chewable. And the crust actually has a nice flavor to boot. Now I don't care if it's actually "Roman style" or any other style because it tastes great, that should be the only thing that matters to anyone. There were seven different offerings by the slice when I visited and I've already picked out the one I to try next ( fine chopped Calabrian cilia and Italian sausage). The folks there told me that they four are "staples" that they will always have and the other 3 will rotate with different combos coming and going. The slices are a decent size but not massive but one was enough for me for a lunch. I might get two for a dinner meal. At $5 a slice it's right on par with a slice at other local pizzerias and full slab (they're rectangular) prices aren't too far off from the other locals as well with much more creative offerings as well the classics. Bottom line is it's really good pizza. If you judge your pizza by Costco in either price, volume or cost, my words are probably lost on you ( no offense) but if you value good flavors creative combinations and great local businesses, this your place. Pegaslice Roman Style Pizza (a play on the mythological winged horse Pegasus) knocked me out! Four of us just worked our way through a variety of slices unlike anything I've eaten since I visited Rome in my college days. Baked in a rectangular sheet pan and served by the slice, you can sample a range of toppings on a delicious crust that crackles when you bite in but is moist and chewy as you work your way through. As a base line, I had to sample their simple, tasty Margherita. The sauce had great personality and the fresh mozzeralla had just the right chewiness. My second slice - the 'MortaVodka' - had a slightly sweet tomato-based vodka sauce, a beautifully folded slice of Mortadella and - surprise! - roughly chopped pistachio nuts that added a great texture. My lovely wife took a walk on the wild and spicy side with the Prince Zuko slice featuring pretty spicy Calabrian chilis and Italian sausage and the couple who joined us raved about their choices as well. Recently opened in the hinterlands of Goleta (7398 Calle Real - inconspicuously nestled behind the 7-11) with a comfy outdoor patio (slab floor means NO WOBBLY TABLES) and a bright, no frills interior done in white and deep blue. They've got sandwiches (though I can't imagine not having pizza every time I return), simple salads, wings, fries, milkshakes, soft serve vanilla cones and a gotta-try-next-time pistachio lava cake. Like an old-fashion diner your slice comes in a blue basket with blue & white checkerboard paper liner - nostalgia! Generous slices run between $5.50 and $6 bucks, or buy 4 and it's just $20. First time trying Pegaslice and it was amazing! The restaurant is clean, organized, and the food is amazing. Their pizza was quite good, and the owner, McLeod, recommended his top 3 slices to me. The Caesar salad was a perfect combo with the pizza, and the milkshake was also great. Service was great, as the food was prepared fast. McLeod loves what he does, and will take care of you! Pegaslice occupies the old Home Plate Grill space. It has a lot of potential. The toppings for the pesto chicken were delicious: garlicky pesto, olive oil, satisfying layer of cheese, fresh tomato, and tender pulled chicken. The problem is the crust. I compare the crust to Noemi's Pizza Romana that used to be on 3534 State St and had a perfect crust. Pegaslice's crust was too dense. Maybe longer fermentation, more rest and less kneading will make the dough more airy. Price was also fair compare to other pizza places nearby. I got a half pan for $25, which came out to be 8 slices. A full pan of $45 could feed 6-8 people. read more

Our pizza came super quick and had a nice crispy crust. And on the subject of crispy: the wings are actually crispy! I've had so many places promise me their wings are crispy and they end up coming out soggy and greasy. Rare to find truly crispy wings. It's quite reasonably priced, too. Crazy how expensive pizza has gotten recently so I'm happy to find somewhere new that isn't trying to rip you off for bread and cheese. The place is freshly remodeled. Tried the classic pepperoni pan pizza and a Bianco slice so far. Both were cooked well, and I personally really enjoyed the crust. I noticed a few negative reviews mentioning the crust, but I think that's mostly a matter of personal preference--or maybe they just caught an off day. I'm hoping we'll continue to see consistency as we work our way through more of the menu! We also had the Fiorentina sandwich, which was absolutely delicious. And we loved the pizza display for the slices--it reminded us of all our favorite pizza shops back in the Northeast. Looking forward to coming back and trying more! read more

The first few times I stopped by and got a full pizza, the crust was a bit off. It wasn't as crispy as advertised. Went back and got a few individual slices and it was so much better! I really enjoyed the pizza, the sandwich and my strawberry shake! One of my biggest criticisms of most pizzas is not enough pepperoni. That's not a problem at Pegaslice and yet it wasn't overly greasy. The sandwich was enormous, I'd actually appreciate if they offered a half sandwich as that is plenty of food. Pizza was tasty but the veggies were cut way too big. Made for very messy eating. The cardboard box came off with our slices.
