We were so happy to finally be back in the area for round two at this spot. The great vibes and friendly staff made us feel right at home again. When it came time to order, we purposely decided not to look at what we had last time because we wanted to try something new. Well... turns out we ordered the exact same things! And honestly, I can't blame us. Once again, both the salad and the pizza were absolutely amazing and just as good as we remembered. While this pizza by no means needs ranch, the owner was kind enough to give us some of their house-made ranch to try. All I can say is... wow! The pizza is fantastic on its own, but that house ranch was seriously impressive and made for one heck of a bonus. It's always a great sign when you return somewhere and the experience lives up to the memory and this place definitely delivered again. Thanks again for another memorable experience. Picked up a couple pizzas for takeout - there were a lot of people picking up so it's clearly a popular spot! I liked the range of pizzas they have, we ordered a lemon mushroom and something with ricotta, bacon, and fig as well as some garlic knots. They were both really tasty; the fig one was my favorite pizza, but my favorite bite was perhaps the garlic knots! Perfectly fluffy and the marinara sauce was the perfect accompaniment. I would've liked more char on the crust, but no complaints otherwise. Definitely want to order from them again and try the Hawaiian and other pies. read more

Fast forward to now, same situation, same reaction. Still memorable. The crust is nicely thin with that perfect balance--crispy but not dry. The margherita was cheesy, flavorful, and super well-balanced (not overly salty or greasy, which is rare). Just clean, simple, done right. This pizza is absolutely phenomenal, probably the very best pizza I've ever had in my life. The gentleman at the front was super nice and the interior had a nice vibe and great music. The pizza slices arrived promptly with a fresh basil leaf on top. We started with a slice of the pepperoni and sausage #1, which had amazingly crispy/chewy crusts, and a garlic knot which was perfectly garlicky with a pillowy interior. Later we also shared a figgy piggy, which was probably our favorite slice. The fig matched the bacon flavor with perfect balance. Finally we got a cookie to go. Amazingly crispy on the edges and soft in the middle, with pools of bittersweet chocolate, butterscotch chips and a dash of flaky sea salt. We literally walked away in a haze. We are still wondering if that pizza experience truly happened to us. We are out of towners, and even if we never get to experience that again, I'll die happy knowing that I had the honor of consuming this absolutely phenomenal pizza, cookie and knot. read more

Santa Barbara has a lot of good pizzerias for a small city, and Saint Bibiana stands with the best of them. It's a small, casual joint downtown, just off State Street. Most orders seem to be for pick-up or delivery, but the restaurant is pleasant, should you choose to dine in. I went with a bunch of family the night after Thanksgiving: my husband, my kids, my brother, my future sister-in-law, and my mom. It was a good choice for this group, cute but also easy, where my two boys could eat pizza and not sit still (there were a couple arcade games I had to drag my three-year-old away from) without causing a disturbance. We ordered at the register and got our food at one of the handful of tables, which was just big enough for our crew. Service was fast and friendly, and there was booze. I enjoyed the Madewest Pale on tap. The pizza was delicious, with great toppings and a crispy, chewy crust. I loved the Sausage #2, a flavorful pie with red sauce, mozzarella, stracciatella cheese, fennel pork sausage, black olives, mushrooms, basil, and olive oil. The Hawaiian too, with red sauce, mozzarella, ham, pineapple, basil, and a drizzle of honey. There was cheese pizza for the kids and pizza by the slice for my mom, who doesn't eat pork. She liked her lemon mushroom. We also got an order of roasted cauliflower salad for the table, and this was fantastic, the cauliflower roasted in garlic oil and tossed in herbed yogurt dressing, then served with arugula, shaved gouda, and parsley. Our next Saint Bibiana dinner will likely be takeout or delivery, but I wouldn't rule out going in person again. The pizza was excellent right out of the oven, and it was nice to walk down the street and get McConnell's for dessert. read more

Hands down the best pizza in Santa Barbara. Their sausage pizza had all fresh ingredients and didn't feel heavy at all. Service was amazing, our server gave us an extra dough knot even though I had only ordered one for the two of us. While the amenities say that dogs are allowed, this is further from the case. My wife and I are extremely disappointed with our second visit to this pizza restaurant in SB. About a month ago, we had an excellent first experience. We even left a glowing review that same night and included photos because everything was outstanding. It was a Saturday, they opened at 2:30 PM, and we arrived about 15 minutes early not knowing what to expect. A blonde woman who appeared to be the hostess warmly greeted us and kindly allowed us to come in early. She made us feel welcome and comfortable. We left that day saying this would be our go-to pizza spot. Today was a completely different experience. It was Sunday, and the restaurant opens at 2:00 PM. We decided to arrive about 15 minutes early, hoping for a similar experience. The door was open, and the "Open" sign was flipped to open, so it appeared they were ready for business. The same blonde woman was behind the counter cleaning wine glasses. She made direct eye contact with us but did not acknowledge us. When we stepped inside, she immediately said, "We're not open, guys." There were several employees inside, so we understood they might still be preparing. However, as we stood at the small entrance -- practically blocking the sidewalk -- another woman walked in directly in front of us and was immediately greeted. No "hello" or "excuse me" was extended to us. Moments later, the woman behind the counter warmly greeted her and they hugged. It was clear they knew each other. At 2:00 PM, we were still not acknowledged. Another couple arrived and stood behind us. A man with long hair, who appeared to be working very hard carrying materials in and out, stepped outside and informed that couple it would only be a few more minutes. Again, we were not acknowledged. Around 2:08 PM, the blonde woman began placing multiple wine glasses and wine bottles on the very table we had planned to sit at -- the same table we sat at approximately a month ago when we had such a great experience. We intentionally wanted to sit there again because we were bringing our daughter to experience what we had enjoyed so much the first time. It then became clear that two of the tables were being utilized for a special event, as several more women began entering before the restaurant officially opened. To be clear, we do not have a problem with the restaurant hosting special events -- that is completely understandable. However, perhaps as owners or managers, the very least that could have been done -- after clearly seeing my family and me standing there before opening -- was to acknowledge us and inform us that today would be a special day where tables were reserved for an event. A simple explanation would have gone a long way. Instead, the women attending the special event were allowed to enter and were warmly greeted before us, while we were literally waiting at the entrance to be allowed in. We were not acknowledged, not greeted, and not given any explanation. Eventually, the long-haired gentleman came behind the counter, made eye contact with us, and finally greeted us, asking how he could help. I told him we wanted to dine in and asked if it was okay, since two of the tables had already been taken over by the event. We were seated near the table marked with a handicap sticker. Unfortunately, the service did not improve. The pizza was not as good as our first visit (although the garlic knots were still delicious). No one checked on us. No one asked how our food was. No one asked if we needed anything. My wife had to approach an employee to request a box for our leftovers. We still enjoyed our afternoon together as a family, but we could not ignore how overlooked and unimportant we felt throughout the entire visit. Due to the unprofessionalism and lack of customer service during our dining experience, it was clear that we, as paying customers, were not properly acknowledged. A tip directly stands for "To Ensure Promptness," and clearly today we were neither acknowledged nor provided attentive service. For that reason, we did not leave a tip. read more

NY pizza snob here, and the SB pizza scene was sad at best before the past few years. St Bibiana wins the "most NY-like" pie in town with no asterisks for me. Thin crust, garlic knots, pies in the front available by the slice, AND on delivery apps to boot. Oh and video games.
