Gem of a straightforward, right-on, classic pizza place. Excellent pizza and charming in that real deal way.

It pains me to give a 2 star review but Service is an integral part of the experience. Kinda' dirty, dark and dingy interior.Another terrible experience starting with an unfriendly call ordering only to be met with someone who seemed as if she wished was anywhere but there Zero eye contact, no greeting, slammed the Apple Pay thingy when I asked about Apple Pay. She did ask if I wanted any cheese or peppers, and again slammed the parm on top of the box, although she did give me more than a couple. I still left her a cash tip in a jar, slowly putting it in so she would notice, hoping it would make her happy, but no thank you, nada. The Pizza is SUPERB , even though she forgot to add the pepperoni I requested. The guy that has helped me before was no different. Does Gino still own this place? Or is he enjoying a well deserved life still in Sicily with Connie. Begrudglinly, I will probably return because the pizza is this good.

Service/delivery was very fast. We ordered a small, pepperoni, sausage, and cheese pizza with a Milanese salad. The pizza was cooked well but the sausage was cut too thick for my taste. The favor was okay and the crust was tender but I prefer thin crust. The salad was fresh but was only lettuce and tomatoes. However, the tomatoes were perfectly ripe and I usually have to throw tomatoes out. These were worth eating! The lettuce was fresh and crisp. The presentation could have been better as you'll see from my picture. The generous portion was large enough for 3-4 people. I typically give new restaurants more than one chance to peak my interest and impress me in order to become a repeat customer. The jury is still out on this one. I will try another item before deciding and will update you when I do.

Gino's may be the best pizza in Santa Barbara! The crust and sauce were so flavorful, the pizza was perfectly cooked. The Caesar salad was big enough to share and a great value. Even though we ordered right before closing, the service was friendly and fast. If you're in town, give it a try, we are glad we did and we will be back to try a calzone next.

Craving an Italian sandwich and this was a block from the courthouse- USA's most beautiful courthouse. I ordered a meatball sandwich and wife the ham with salad. Oh and a Stella! The salad was big enough to share and nothing fancy- tomato and lettuce. Sandwiches could be shared but I guess they were that good that we finished both. They call them paninas but they use what looks to be pizza dough same as calzones. Both our sandwiches were filled with quite a lot of ham and meatballs. Very small inside with about 4 tables and one outside. They also have a counter with chairs. Quick service, tasty food and nothing fancy. I'll be back!

I loved the pizza here! We came here for the first time on 2-29-24 and boy was I glad I did. I love that you can order any pizza by the slice, perfect for lunch. Super reasonably priced I got a pizza, salad and soda for $8.99! The ranch dressing was so good and my Italian soda ARANCIATA ROSSA was the best! I can't wait to come back and try other dishes. Super cute decor too.

The pizza was absolutely delicious! I really enjoyed the crust, the sauce, and the quality of the toppings. Much more than meets the eye, they really make great food here! They are super hard-working and really care about their business. Always feels good to support local businesses, highly recommended for a casual meal in Santa Barbara! They have indoor seating as well as metered parking out front.

What time do you stop taking phone orders for Carryout ? I called at 8:25pm Monday and was told they stopped making pizzas already. Hours say you close at 9pm, so just curious what time we can/need to call in by?

Sorry to hear that. Usually it’s 8:45 not sure why they didn’t take your order unless they were slammed but still should take the order. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

    Do you have lasagna?

There were definitely aspects of the…read moreexperience that I enjoyed, but a few issues with the food prevented the meal from living up to its potential. For my entree, I ordered the Costolette d'Angello alla Griglia, the grilled lamb chops served with vegetables and mashed potatoes. The lamb was okay, but it arrived more warm than hot and the accompanying mashed potatoes were a disappointment. They arrived noticeably cold in the center, giving the impression that they had been reheated rather than freshly prepared. Unfortunately, those temperature inconsistencies distracted from the dish and even made me question whether everything had been plated and served at its best. The lamb chops were okay overall, but the execution left something to be desired. I also tried the Linguine con Vongole (clam pasta). The flavors were fine and the dish was enjoyable enough, but diners should be aware that there were some broken shell fragments and bits of sand mixed in with the clams. While that can occasionally happen with shellfish dishes, it was noticeable enough that I found myself eating a little more cautiously than I would have liked. One aspect of the restaurant that stood out was the atmosphere. The environment has a distinctive character and personality that makes it feel different from many of the other dining options in SB. It certainly adds to the overall experience. The service was somewhat slow during my visit, though the staff remained friendly and courteous throughout the evening. Overall, this place offered an interesting atmosphere and friendly service, but the food execution felt inconsistent. Between the warm lamb, cold mashed potatoes, and shell fragments in the linguine, the meal didn't quite meet expectations. There's potential here, but a little more attention to detail in the kitchen would go a long way.

AMBIANCE - While you can't really see much of the ocean, the front windows face it from across the closest street, and the sense of it being there (especially with the windows open) counts for a lot. I only go to Santa Barbara once a year for Fiesta and I finally was able to try them. Everything I ate was delicious! I started out with the Bengala de Granada, which was a mocktail of pentire coastal spritz, pomegranate, ginger, lime, cinnamon, and clove. It was so refreshing on a hot Fiesta day. Under the Bocaditos menu, we ordered the denia (confit tomato, cured bluefin tuna) and the croquetas de seta (porcini and truffle with a saffron aioli). The denia set the tone for dinner with the bright acidity of the tomato with the salty tuna. The croquetas were rich of umami flavor with an undertone of truffle that paired well with the brightness of the saffron. Under the charcuterie menu, we got the jamón tasting that included pan con tomate. The tomatoes were bright and paired well with the different salty hams, which were serrano, ibérico, and iberico chorizo. For the tapas, we got the tortilla española, patatas bravas, broccolini, and the ensalada mediterránea. It was a good balance of light and heavy dishes. The broccolini and salad were the light dishes. The broccolini was nicely seared and the romesco sauce added a nutty flavor. The Mediterranean salad was herbaceous with pops of richness from the manchego cheese. The rest were on the heavier side. Though, the eggs of the tortilla española were incredibly fluffy. It was like biting into a cloud. The potatoes were also soft. It was a comforting dish. And then there were the patatas bravas, my favorite tapa! They were slightly crisp with a bit of heat from their house sauce and garlic aioli. Each bite was as satisfying as the next. And then the star of the show came right when we finished most of the tapas - the chorizo and chicken paella. The rice was pressed against the pan so every bite had that prized soccarat. The char of the soccarat harmonized with the depthness of the tomato and other aromatics in the rice. It was luxurious. And the chicken was juicy and had a wonderful smoky flavor. The portions of chicken, chorizo, and mushrooms were generous! It can definitely feed a family of six, so we were able to have leftovers as we were a family of three. And it was even better the next day! No matter how full we are, we always have dessert to share. We ordered the crema catalana, and it was the perfect way to end the meal. It was silky smooth and the caramel flavor went so well with the sweet and slightly tart Santa Barbara strawberries. I imagine this restaurant is always busy, but it was even more so during Fiesta. It's loud inside and out, but it's adds to the festive vibes. Service was excellent! I very much appreciated that our waiter confirmed our allergies. He even put the romesco sauce on the side just in case since it had almonds. Luckily, my nut allergy is contained to only pine nuts because I enjoyed the sauce very much. I recommend eating outside to enjoy their patio space. Since they only open for dinner, the heat isn't as bad since it gets cooler around the time they open. Loquita is at the start of the Funk Zone. So parking is extremely limited. Best to walk or ride-share there. I don't think I can wait for the next Fiesta to dine here again. I hope to be back sooner.
