On a whim, called same-day on a Saturday night and a gentleman on the phone got us a table for that evening. Already a good sign! We arrived to a packed, buzzing room and were shown to our table immediately. The energy was lively without being chaotic, in a good way. We ordered a starter and a main to share, both served efficiently and both genuinely delicious! The food lives up to the reputation! What stood out most, though, was watching the staff. Our server Karley was friendly and on point, and, looking around the room, that tone carried across the entire floor. Everyone seemed to know exactly what to do, exactly when to do it, and they did it with great attitudes and real teamwork. That kind of operation is rare these days, and I think it's probably the secret to why this place stays packed and keeps people coming back. The food may be good, but the customer service leaves a lot to be desired. The staff seem unwilling to accommodate guests who do not have a reservation. Even when the bar area appears empty, they do not offer it as an option and instead consistently say there is a waitlist. This was particularly frustrating while dining with a young child, as there was little effort to help us find a reasonable solution or make us feel welcome. The experience felt inflexible and unaccommodating, which took away from what could have been an enjoyable meal. read more

I enjoyed the ambience and interior, but service in terms of making sure we had water could've been better. It's been a Minute since I've been to Bittina. Remembering the days when Danielle was raising her family at 106 W Mason Street and managing Bittina. The 106 group would make our presence known at Bittina. Danielle and her family moved away and now their back and Danielle is back at the Helm. Amy Amanda and myself decided to celebrate Amy's Graduation and Birthday what a wonderful experience. Although Danielle was not working she made her presence known with a wonderful appetizer and a loaf of Amazing Sourdough bread we shared a variety of wonderful dishes. I forgot how Amazing the food was. Our server was on point answering our questions as we made our food selection, her recommendations were spot on. Oh Bettina, how I LOVE you. Listen, this pizza is the best pizza I have had and once you try it you will understand why. Everything is made from scratch with ingredients from local farmers markets in SB. (I know this bc I've been following them on Instagram for so long). Their Caesar Salad, to die for. We love Bettina! Every time we are visiting Montecito/Santa Barbara we stop by. Zinzan (super cool Australian name right?!) was very friendly and set us up at a beautiful table with a heating lamp and provided great dinner suggestions. Our server Eddie was smooth with our orders and provided additional suggestions for a vegetarian at our table that we all enjoyed. They were both very friendly and the service was amazing. Your table enjoyed the fresh bread with the cultured butter that was absolutely delicious. We ordered two of the Mafaldine pastas, with even for non-anchovies lovers this pasta was divine. The lamb ragu was a big hit. And the casitas valley sausage pizza was incredibly fresh and enjoyable. For dessert we enjoyed the olive oil cake which was very moist and yummy and the chocolate chip cookie that had a smooth touch of flakey sea salt! Everything was sooooo good! The four leaf clover was on our side cause we managed to get seated on a Friday night at prime dinner time without a reservation. The host staff was accommodating and friendly. Our small party of 2 was seated at the pizza counter which was an experience in itself. Our server, bummed I don't recall her name, was extremely friendly, present, and accessible. Ordered a cacio e pepe arancini, beet and burrata salad, and pepperoni pizza. All three items were served in a timely manner and tasted really good! The pepperoni pizza was a bit soggy towards the center but flavor was on point. The cacio e pepe arancini was yummy but could have used a tad more dipping sauce. The salad was great. The restaurant atmosphere is lively, vibrant, and an ideal space to engage in conversation. They were allowed in and got a table. By the time we got the front around 8:10pm they informed us that there was no tables available and they would not accommodate us since the kitchen would be closing at 9pm. I was in Santa Barbara area and needed to see what this place was all about. The food was absolutely delicious. Shareable items so me and my mom did a pizza, salad and appetizer. All were so flavorful and mouth watering good. Service was excellent. I came in without a reservation and was told they would try to get me in as soon as they can but estimated 1hr wait. I waited probably about 30mins which wasn't bad considering it was busy. Our waiter was very tentative to our needs making sure we were always okay on water and drinks. Place was very cute and cozy. We sat outside and it was perfect. They have heaters outside that keep you warm so that's a plus. read more

The service was nice and inviting but I have to say as the only negative they need more service help for the outside tables. The Caesar salad was unique yet very good. The pepperoni.pizza was very good. The pizza was very thin and had great robust flavor profiles. Aka tomato sauce and pepperoni's. The honey and chili oil was definitely a nice touch. The restaurant supposedly has a Michelin bib award. It was good but I wouldn't rate it yet in that category as there are small nuances that need addressing. **September 2025: Friday Night Visit** My friend and I were planning a mini getaway and I knew that Bettina had to be on our list of restaurants to try as it was both a multi-time Bib Gourmand recipient and listed in the best "101 Best Restaurants in LA." I read that it does get really busy and unfortunately there weren't any reservations available at the time, so my friend and I chanced it and hoped that we'd be able to snag a seat - thankfully at 5:30pm we were lucky to get 2 spots at the bar. I dine out semi-regularly and it was packed! Every table had customers and pretty much at least one pie at the center. We decided to try one of their seasonal pies (Pear and Red Onions) since the salty and sweet combination sounded really appealing. We also ordered a Caesar Salad as our greens and a home-made meatball since everything was vegetarian up until that. The meatball sort of had a loose meatloaf texture, which I didn't mind since it was still flavorful and tender and the Cesar Salad was a solid salad. The pie on the other hand was a knockout star. The dough had a nice chew to it and the flavors on top just all worked so well together. Had we not stuffed ourselves with the appetizers we probably would have definitely ordered a second pie. Of the 4 meals we had on this trip this meal was our absolute favorite. We will definitely be back and will order all pies! Bettina is absolutely worthy of all the recognition and praise! Love, love love pizza. And now I love, love love Bettina! Ended up here dinner time on a Friday. No reservations available but my friend and I decided to just walk in and take our chances. Maybe should have bought a lottery ticket that night too - because we waited didn't wait long at all. We ended up sitting at the bar where there service was top notch. Knowledge about the history of the restaurant, the ingredients of the dishes and just friendly and nice overall. See pics of what my friend and I shared - I'll say that I enjoyed the meatballs and salad, but I loved the pizza. The crust was tender and light, slight char, not burned and airy and easy to bite into. Loved how the mix of toppings (pears, red onions, caramelized onions) all just gave the pie a fresh, and both sweet and savory flavor in each bite. If I didn't have reservations somewhere else the next night, I would have considered going back for more. Guess it'll just have to be on my next visit to the Santa Barbara area. Came in here during our babymoon trip and such a 5/5 experience. Made a reservation ahead of time (definitely recommend since it get's busy). They have both indoor and outdoor seating - we sat outside and it was so cute with the lights, plus it was fun people-watching with everyone coming in and out of the nearby shops. Parking is a little limited right by the restaurant, but if you drive up a bit there's another lot. Google Map took us right to the spot with no issues. We are vegetarian, so we asked our server for recommendations and he was super helpful explaining what could be made veg-friendly. We ended up ordering the whipped ricotta (highly recommend!), roasted cauliflower pizza, and the mafaldine pasta. Everything was so good and full of flavor. Oh, can't forget the mocktail. The pasta was my favorite and I would honestly come back just for that. However, if I am in the area again, will certainly want to return and try more from the menu! read more

This place was highly recommend by trip advisor and it is worth a visit if you're in the SB area. It is also Michelin recommend. Mafaldine alla gircia pasta- this was very creamy and delicious. I loved the house made noodles. Casitas Valley Sausage pizza - this was also a great dish to share. We got 2 slices each. Meatballs Alla Vodka - little under cooked but still delicious. The sauce is rich. Ricotta - it has egg plant it in and was wonderful especially with their house bread. Olive oil cake - we gor this to go, but it was might and fluffy. It was a solid meal! My husband and I showed up around 5 pm on a Monday and were seated right away without issue. It is a small space so we were seated very close to two other tables (the kind of close where it's hard to focus on your own convo). We ordered the Caesar Salad to start. I feel like I've had this exact salad (as in gem lettuce, breadcrumbs, lemony dressing) other places executed a little better. The breadcrumbs were almost too hard creating a grainy/sandy texture rather than a nice crunch. Good flavor though. We also got the Meatballs "Alla Vodka." This was the highlight of the meal for me. My husband thought they could've used more of a binder but personally I liked that they felt more meaty than bready. I recommend using the spoon to eat the meatballs so you get enough sauce with each bite. Don't want any of that delicious sauce to go to waste! We got the pepperoni pizza for our entree. This pizza was just okay to me based on my personal preferences so take this with a grain of salt! I'm not the biggest sourdough person and since the pizza is fermented it has a similar flavor. I also wish that the pizza was a little less charred. I think it was more burnt on top than charred but maybe that's what they're going for and I'm just not the audience. We enjoyed the pepperoni pizza with the house ranch. I really enjoyed this bc I prefer a dill-heavy ranch and this definitely delivered that! Overall, solid meal and would come back. The food is always delicious, the service is always friendly, and the outdoor patio is such a nice place to enjoy a meal. Some must-try menu items are the Whipped House Ricotta with the Wood-Fired Bread, the Meatballs "Alla Vodka", the Caesar Salad, the Pepperoni Pizza, and the Chocolate Chip Cookies. They also have seasonal pizzas that rotate on the menu. Some, unfortunately, never come back, so be sure to try the seasonal pizzas while they're available. We had the Penryn Bosc Pear Pizza the other day, and the Clam Pie today. The Pear Pizza was very good, but the Clam Pie was incredible, so if it's on the menu, I highly recommend ordering it. The parmesan on the Arancini was so good I was eating it by itself. The chef brought our pizza out which was cooked to perfection. We got the pepperoni pizza with added red onion and egg with a side of ranch. Their house made ranch is so good and worth it. Their chocolate chip cookie was also great and perfectly chewy. We love the service here, the bartender is super attentive while tending to the rest of the restaurant. We are happy to make the trip from Ventura just for lunch. Flavors here were nicely done. The Little Gem salad was excellent. Wine list was nice. However, the pizza was not as good as it could have been. I believe the oven was not uniformly hot which resulted in an under-done bottom and a top that was on the verge of being over-done. If the crust is not good it doesn't matter what is added. Get the crust right and the rest is easy, particularly when high quality ingredients are used. We were there early (4:30pm reservation) so I really do think the oven just needed more time. In Italy, the wood ovens are fired up several hours prior to service which allows them to be uniformly hot and to produce excellent pizze. read more

A friend of mine moved to the bay area a few years back and when she came back for a visit, she wanted to meet at Bettina for dinner. The 5 of us got 2 pepperoni pizza, a chanterelle pizza, a root's spinach pizza, and a burrata honeynut squash appetizer. Everything was delicious as expected. The chanterelle pizza was particularly popular with everyone. The savory chanterelle made the pizza taste lighter and balanced out the two types of cheese toppings. We had a great dinner here last week. The place is packed inside and out and always seems to be busy (I observed the same thing 2 years ago when going to the ice cream store next door after dinner), but the food was great and the service is good and very friendly. The decor in the restaurant is very green and fresh feeling with lots of real plants and decorative wallpaper which makes it feel comfortable. We had the Caesar salad, a mushroom pizza and a meat lovers pizza. My son had a tomato pizza which I thought was a nice option for anyone with dairy problems. He does not but sometimes doesn't want cheese. All were very good. We also had the rigatoni with a simple tomato sauce and it was tasty. I would go back! Definitely get a reservation. Had dinner here last night. I would recommend reservations, I had made one but for others that showed up the wait was an hour. Firstly the wait staff were exceptional! Very polite and helped with guiding me to a great salad. Even altered it a bit, ranch instead of vinaigrette. It was called Roots Baby Gems..then I had Maitake Mushroom pizza.
