We popped in on a whim since we were already in the area, and we're so glad we did! We were seated pretty quickly on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon, which was a great start. Our server gave us a few recommendations, and we ended up ordering the Fish Piccata (the fish of the day was halibut), fried potatoes, and the uni. Everything was absolutely delicious -- we didn't leave a single bite behind. I couldn't pass up the olive oil cake for dessert, and I'm so glad I didn't. My family and I had a really disappointing experience here, easily one of the worst meals we've had in years. For a place called "Little Dom's Seafood," the menu barely offers any seafood at all; no clams, no crab, no lobster. Just one fish option, oysters, and maybe a shrimp dish. The rest is pizza, salad, and pasta, which felt misleading. The only thing we enjoyed was my youngest's spaghetti and meatballs. The pasta was perfectly cooked, the sauce was great, and the meatballs were genuinely delicious. Everything else missed the mark: * The fish crudo was so heavily seasoned and oily that you couldn't taste the fish. * The margherita pizza was undercooked. * The fish sandwich was drowning in sauce, and the brioche bun was soggy and greasy. * Even the Diet Coke tasted watered‑down and off. Service didn't help. We waited far too long despite the dining room being mostly empty. We were told they were "really busy," but there were plenty of open tables. For $165, the value just wasn't there. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this was a genuinely poor experience from start to finish, and I wouldn't return. Wonderful bar. Good service. But if you're staying in Carpinteria, the food becomes very repetitive. They used to have some of the best fried potatoes I've ever tasted, but they seem to have faded as have most of the dishes. Great service and food! I came here with three friends for a late lunch on Sunday and we had such a fabulous time! Our server was very sweet and informative about the menu. My fried chicken sandwich was delicious! The chicken was crispy on the outside and perfect on the inside. I was fearful of it being overcooked and difficult to eat but this was not the case. My side arugula salad was simple and fresh. The side of potatoes was delicious and the star of the show! I would highly recommend this dish as an appetizer or to share with others. First time here and the staff was exceptional. The previous reviews on the Uni and Eggs looked marvelous and I was looking forward to exactly what was pictured, it was disappointing. Although it tasted good, it didn't look appealing and frankly, sad with withered greens. I ordered the potatoes and those were perfectly crunchy, garlicky and finished with a zing. I also had the chocolate cake. It was flat and lacked flavor...reminds me of microwaved cake in a cup. It came with a nugget of vanilla ice cream, pine nuts, pinch of salt and a drizzle of olive oil. But the hostess told us that they have no seating for two and will not be taking anymore seating even though we can see there were two tables in the front dining area. We left thinking possibly those empty tables were reserved for folks that made reservations. As we stood outside figuring our next move. A family of four walks by and the father says "let's try this place" with the mother pausing and looking through the window before finally saying "yes". They walk into Little Dom's and sure enough they get a table. The hostess seats them. Good grief. Why in tarnation did they get seated and not us?!? Took my wife out for Valentine's Day. Not your typical seafood restaurant, but it was definitely a unique experience we both enjoyed. Menu options had an Italian bend to it which I enjoyed. Arrabbiata sauce is very good, and I'm glad that it came with the calamari. Highly recommend that along with the rice balls. Not a lot of seafood entree options, but my wife went with the fish piccata (the night we went it was halibut). I went with the cavatelli ricotta. Both were delicious but especially the fish piccata. No complaints, service was great, and the food was good all around. Definitely a gem and jealous of the locals who are able to stop in more often. read more

I was looking for a special restaurant to take a foodie friend out for his birthday and someone recommended Little Dom's, which for some reason didn't grab my attention on Yelp. I decided to try it, and boy am I glad we did! We didn't have reservations but we went early around 5 and got seated right away. Our taste buds were teased with delicious flavors and combinations that were out of this world! The market raw oysters were yummy, very fresh and salty. The highlight of the evening was the Fettunta appetizer, market fish on sourdough toasted in oil with crème fraiche and pickled chile peppers. It came together so well that we decided to order a second one so we didn't have to share! We also shared a main, the Squid Ink Pappardelle with Sea Urchin Shrimp Scampi & Mollica. The Pappardelle was delicious but the overall flavor with toppings was only ok. It needed sauce, salt, acid and/or spice to make it sing. For the birthday boy's dessert we shared a Warm Chocolate Olive Oil Cake with whipped cream which was deliciously decadent - rich but not too sweet. We had a bottle of Pinot Grigio with our meal, and an interesting liqueur to finish. A truly memorable experience! We will be back again! read more

Over all really enjoyed the food quality. The pasta was cheesy, the market piccata fish was buttery and melted in your mouth. The only thing I wish it had was a bit more lemon. For a piccata dish there was not enough on it. The pasta paired delicious with it as they only serve it with asparagus. We dropped in here one Thursday afternoon for lunch. The tables outdoors were full so we went inside to an almost empty (4 people) large dining area. We were greeted by loud awful music, we didn't recognize a single track. Our order was Cast Iron seared fish sandwich and fried chicken sandwich. The seared fish was fine the fried chicken however was awful. When they say fried they mean deep fried. It came out dripping in grease. This was adorned with decomposing lettuce leaves. The small single glass of water we received was never replenished. However, Its nice to see staff just hanging out. Will we return No! If you go, avoid the fried chicken, it repeated on me all day and into most of the night. read more

I cannot count how many times I've driven past this place. I'm glad I finally decided to try it. We got a dozen oysters, live uni, chicken parm, the pasta (the name escaping me) and a side of smashed potato's. Our waitress was super nice and everything she recommended was really good. I probably won't be getting the live uni the next time we go back. It was super salty for some reason. We sat at one of the outdoor tables and it was nice and relaxing. Dear owners of Little Dom's, Rather than write a snarky review I am writing a request of what I would like. The restaurant's vibe since the chef who died has changed. I used to take friends there boasting it was the best restaurant in the area. This week I am exhausted from working 24/7, and can't take a vacation so I thought I'd have a food holiday going to Little Dom's for lunch and sometimes dinner to get take out for the past week. I'd really like to be able to get take out without seeing a '$3 gratuity fee' for a humble order that wasn't there the day before added to my bill. I'd like that waiter not to accidentally add a whole cake to my order when I've ordered a piece of the same cake 3 times that week already. I'd like after suffering the nickle and diming for the week politely not to then after I update them that I just wanted a piece of cake just like the other ones I ordered not to see that the slice of cake just went up by 25% with no explanation. I'd Little Doms to be a fun place like it used to be to hangout and not feel uncomfortable because the waiters are sickeningly swarmy in the hopes they will get a 50% tip cause a 20% one isn't enough anymore. But it seems it's a place to not go to unless you are going to eat and drink a lot and run up a bill in the hundreds. Message received. I feel creeped out going there and won't come back. read more

We looked at the menus earlier in the day and decided to come back for dinner. The restaurant is a good size good size and we receded right away. I selected the special for the night a fish soup. It was excellent had onions and a little bit of spice was served with two pieces of toast. It was quite tasty. My wife ordered a fish special which was a firm fish prepared. Marcella style service was quick and I like the white tablecloths this place is located on Linden Avenue near sixth Street street parking or do what we did walk if you do want to order bread it'll be six dollars extra And salads are served as a separate item from the dinners. We're locals ... but brought with us two couples from the Bay Area. Service was great. Food was good. After that, downhill. The restaurant is LOUD. Very loud. Then, there's the $35 CORKAGE FEE PER BOTTLE charged by the restaurant for opening two bottles of wine that our guests brought in. Excessive? Yes. Were we told about the amount of the corkage fee - which certainly is beyond industry standards for comparable restaurants? No. (We didn't ask - that's on US, of course, but an extraordinary high corkage fee should have been mentioned.) Be forewarned. :-( read more

Came for dinner after a stroll to the beach and had an okay experience. We ordered the spaghetti, squid ink pasta, a pizza, and a burger. The kids enjoyed the spaghetti which came with meatballs. The squid ink pasta ($30) was okay. The papardelle was too soft (not al dente) and the sauce was kind of bland. There was a nice crunch on the top, but overall the dish wasn't memorable. It was also advertised as having some uni, but I couldn't taste any of it in the dish. The pizza was decent, as was the burger. Overall, the food was overpriced for the quality and portions received. Our server was very nice, but it was a busy night and it was hard to find him when we needed something. The ambiance is loud- not family friendly. We were seated next to the bar area and the patrons there were SUPER loud and I'm sure, intoxicated. Went to the restroom to change my baby's diaper and someone had vomited all over the changing table and on top of the toilet... so I was pretty grossed out by that, to say the least. Little Dom's Big Improvements I have to update given my recent experiences. I came on a Tuesday and they had a special menu for only $25 that included an appetizer, entree and dessert. The seafood was very fresh and delicious. The ambiance is cozy. I even got the opportunity to be served by Carpinteria's best bartender ever Cary. For real he was top notch and phenomenal. I have to say this was a complete 180 from prior experiences and I quite enjoyed the food, service and evening. 4.8/5 my brother says to try giving people a second chance read more

Sometimes good and sometimes not -- tonite a disaster. However, excellent care and service. But the "special" --a $24. Fish Pot Pie was really bad. The "flaky" crust they promised turned out to be a rubbery pizza dough spread over a dish with hardly any crab, shrimp or oysters they said were in it. I saw only 3 tiny popcorn shrimp in mine with maybe a bit of crab but not an oyster to be found. I also found pieces of empty shrimp shells -- very unpleasant. The 3 tiny shrimp were floating alone in a runny white pool of liquid, without even a hint of potato, onion, carrots or peas. I wondered if the chef ever had a pot pie of any kind because this so called "pie" (no bottom crust) didn't resemble any I've ever had. It was pathetic. I felt scammed. All the good we had was pretty good. With the exception of the squid ink and sea urchin pasta. The pasta was just mush and the flavor was bad. Nothing about the dish tasted fresh. I didn't eat it. I sent it back. The biggest problem for me was our server recommended it saying it was her favorite and that, that dish made it worth her drive to work. The service overall I would give it a 6.5/10. The ambiance was as I remember it when it was Sly's. With the exception of the pasta it met my expectations as far as they were considering the people that I spoke to about it said don't get your expectations up but it is worth going! I was so impressed with the food here at Little Dom's! I'm still thinking of the flavorful and delicious blueberry ricotta pancakes. According to our waiter, people travel many miles just to come eat their famous pancakes. I loved that they were filled with plump juicy blueberries inside. For starters, we had the rice balls served with marinara. Now, I wouldn't think to order rice balls, but these were pretty darn tasty! Especially dipped in the marinara. Unfortunately, I didn't get to capture a pic of this appetizer, because we were starving and ate them so fast. For my main breakfast entrée, I ordered the Eggs Fungi. This consists of two fried eggs, roasted lion's mane mushrooms, sautéed kale, and pistachio pesto served on grilled sourdough bread. I think the kale might have been just a tad over-cooked, because it was kind of swampy when chewing. Aside from that, it was delicious! The other entrees were ordered by the ladies in our party of four, and they seemed to all enjoy their meals. I cannot say enough positive things about this restaurant. Came here on a Friday night and had amazing food and great service and conversation with an employee named John. Then came back on Saturday and had phenomenal service by our server Graham. The icing on the cake was when I left my purse in the restroom and hadn't even realized it until an employee named Eddie brought it out to me. The level of service and honesty at this establishment is unparalleled. We are regulars in Carpinteria and will be making this a regular stop for us. read more
