    Loco moco
    Brent O.

Such a great find! Was traveling up the 101, and its right off the freeway. Breakfast and lunch, we came in the middle of the day and had so much to choose from. My wife had corned beef hash, so good! The meat to potato ratio was right on point. I had the loco moco- not the norm. It wasn't hamburger, but more like teriyaki beef. Both were huge and could probably have been shared. The service was yuck and friendly. I really felt like I was in a Hawaiian diner. Very laid back feel.

We had a great brunch here!! My Husband had the loco moco. The flavors and meat were delicious. I had the Ruben and loved it. Service was perfect. Everyone was very helpful. The menu is full of so many surprises besides breakfast. Next time I want the chicken noodle stir fry!!! They do serve beer and mimosas. We will be back next time we pass through.

I wanted to go to the Chinese place Nextdoor, but it was closed. So I tried Hugo's. I'm pretty sure my food was unfortunately from frozen, and it tasted like it. My food took a while as well, service wise. I don't think I will be returning.

Hugo's was amazing. The food was delicious and it has the most welcoming vibe. I ordered the french toast and I loved it- It was thick and buttery. The owners are the sweetest and the service was great. I would definitely come back here.

Tri-tip sandwich with fruit and miso soup. Neat and fruit and soup was great, bread was flimsy and fell apart while you ate it.

My wife and I were in Carpinteria for 2 1/2 weeks and we got off the bus from LAX at Albertson's and headed across the street to Hugo's for some nourishment about 10 AM. Noon in Minneapolis. We sat down at one of the booths and I really wanted a draft beer. OK, no. I really wanted a Diet Coke from a dispenser. Nope. $8 for a beer and $3.50 for a can of soda. Water please. This was insanity. I ordered the tri-tip with fruit and my wife got the miso soup. It came out in about 8-10 minutes. We only had our water refilled once, and we had to ask. The place is Asian-fusian, so he tri-tip was like teriyaki and it was amazing. unfortunately, they don't toast the roll they put it on, so it really isn't a sandwich. There is no way you could eat this like a grilled cheese sandwich. It becomes almost comical, if not frustrating that you cannot get a bite of bread and meat and tomato in one swallow. I should give three stars, but the fruit was beautiful and the miso soup was tasty always and the meat was amazing. I almost wish they would just have an option of just the meat over cauliflower rice. Maybe they do and I did not see. The bread was a major let down. I would never go again, but people seemed to be enjoying their breakfast.

Service with a smile and good food to boot. It was relatively quiet I came in at around 10 am. Their smile comes across as genuinely happy for you to be there. I got a basic 2 sausage, egg, pancake order and the sausage was genuinely bursting with flavor eggs were yummy and pancakes were solid. In the middle of my breakfast a patron was leaving and the owners says see you tomorrow thank you. And I completely understand why someone would have such loyal customers. I highly recommend you come sit down and eat here if you can

We passed by on the way to SF and decide to eat breakfast on the way .Found this amazing breakfast cafe right by the highway. This is a family run business and they really take care their restaurant and customer! Thank you so much for the amazing food and service! We enjoy so much especially the giant French Toast, this is the Hong Kong style French toast which is extra large, thick and fluffy! Highly recommended!

    $14.50...money not well spent.

$14.50...eggs ordered over medium came over hard, country potatoes ordered but got oily hashbrowns, three greasy sausage links, toast and zero follow up from the server. This place used to have ok food at a good value. Sorry but truth is, I will not return.

    Great vibe inside

Hugo's is a must, so so so good! Great food and excellent service, will definitely stop by every time we're in the area

The sweet potato dumplings are fried and had a very unique twist for Asian fusion and would recommend. The kalbi was very mediocre, but it was fun for sharing. Day cake was delicious. I would highly recommend since it came out and was very warm. The bingsu was mostly frozen and was not finally shaved in terms of milk ice and the Nutella pairing with it did not go very well. We had a fantastic server (Cathy) who took our orders and was very friendly. The front staff was quite rude when we followed up what the wait time was (might have been because it was busy, but hope that it's a 1x thing and not a pattern). Otherwise, vibes we're very good and I can see why this is a popular spot.

Both very delicious. The wings were all flats so that was a plus alone. Full of good flavor and very crispy. The noodles were delicious as well. I recommend both. The restaurant is decorated very nice and the server was attentive. Sour: the restaurant was very clean but it bothers me so much when some places have a designated area that flies like to circle around that tends to be near the bar. I wish there could be more control to prevent that. I did really enjoy the meal but the portions were small. If it wasn't so good I would almost say the prices weren't worth it. You can definitely share but I would get at least 3 options for 2 people. My husband and I weren't that hungry so it was a decent amount since it was such a late lunch and we were thinking about getting something else shortly after. We drove down from SLO and I was craving hotpot since there's not much asian food where I'm at. The server working on Saturday afternoon was so friendly and helpful! I was really impressed that he could handle the whole store himself and still keep up a really positive attitude!! The food was really good! It also doesn't provide that traditional hotpot experience which I find much more enjoyable. However in VC options are limited, so when I saw Tasty Pot recently opened I was quite ecstatic! There were 12 different pots and 5 spicy levels to choose from. Pot numbers 1-7 were smaller size and numbers 8-12 were larger size pots. Except for the Healthy Veggie pot, all the soup base was pork broth. Most of the pots also had very similar ingredients, the difference I could see were the main protein choice and soup flavor. They also have another menu for rice and noodle options if you didn't want to do the personal pots. We got the Taiwanese Supreme in mild and the Seafood Lobster in medium. We also got a side of quail eggs. The pots arrived with a candle of some sort below to keep it hot. Both pots were of the larger size and filled with lots of food. The mild was the perfect level of spicy for me, a hint of spice that does not overpower the original flavor of the ingredients, rather it enhanced each one and made it more tasty. Service was good, our server came by frequently to check on us and to refill the soup. At one point the flame under the pot had already gone out but we hadn't cook the noodles so we requested another flame. We were told they had to bring the pot back to the kitchen to heat it up. So I guess the flame was there to just keep the pot warm rather than actually cooking. Although this cannot compare to the traditional hotpot, this personal hotpot is still a very good option and helps to satisfy my craving.
