I really enjoyed my meal here. I shared an egg salad sandwich with my mom (they separately wrapped both halves for us) and I got a 1/2 kale caesar salad. The 1/2 sandwich and 1/2 salad filled me up. I really liked the caesar dressing. It definitely seemed homemade, as well did the croutons. The staff was friendly, and the inside of the restaurant was clean. This was the perfect sandwich shop for our beach day. I asked the cashier what sandwich he would recommend for me and he said the Turkey on the Range with ciabatta. I decided to also get a PB and J sandwich just to see how they were as well, so I ordered the Peebee's Gone Bananas with honey wheat bread. Staff was friendly and helpful. The order was ready in less than 10 minutes. The Turkey on the Range was a great choice. Plenty of Turkey with avocado, red onion, cheese, tomato and ranch dressing. It felt like a solid meal and I felt pretty satisfied after eating it. The PB and J was for a snack later on and I shared half of it with my sister. It was nothing to write home about. Pretty standard for PB with bananas and honey. But it was still a good choice. I definitely would come back on my next vacation. read more

I ordered a half BLT with avocado. It was good, but small and came to over 10.00 for a half a sandwich. It wasn't that good. The prices are very high. A BLT is supposed to be on toasted bread, which it was, but they wrapped it in foil so when I went to pick up my 10.00 sandwich, the foil had steamed the bread, so when I got back to work with my 10.00 half a sandwich, I had to put it in the toaster over to get the wet steam out of it. A little frustrating. They need to think a bit on how they present the food to go. read more

They had a plethora of options, but the sever told me the super chicken was very popular and recommended it on ciabatta. Otherwise I was eyeing the thanksgiving turkey sandwich... Minutes after placing my order, I was out the door, sandwich in hand. While the sandwich wasn't huge, every bite was perfect and I left satisfied. I'm a huge fan of the Anaheim chiles paired with the garlic aioli (they called it "garlic mayo," which is the same thing). The ciabatta was soft, warm, and lightly toasted. My experience at Peebee and Jays has made me rethink my stance on sandwiches -- maybe deep down inside I am a sandwich guy after all, but only if it's a great sandwich! read more

We had high hopes for this sandwich shop because of the reviews and we were very disappointed. We ordered three sandwiches and none were amazing. My husband had the Italian on a soft roll and he said it was just ok. I had the Thanksgiving on a soft roll and it was very underwhelming. Almost no cream cheese or cranberry sauce to the point of it being dry. The only thing I could really taste was the red onion (which I love but I want other flavors as well). My daughter had the signature Peebee and Jay on white sourdough. She was very disappointed and said it tasted like a bad school lunch pb&j. She wanted is super gooey and a lot more jelly. The shop was super cute inside and the employee that helped us was nice. We were excited because of the gluten free options for my wife, but after the cashier rang us up (while wearing gloves), he went back and began making food without changing his gloves. I asked if he could change his gloves and he did. A little while later, he rang up another customer and then went back to the sandwich making. Fine, he didn't touch any cash, so I'll let it slide... but then 20+ minutes later, we were still waiting on our 3 sandwiches and he rang up ANOTHER customer at the register and went back to making food WITHOUT CHANGING HIS GLOVES! At this point he'd been wearing the same gloves for a half hour or more and rang up multiple customers and touched things all throughout the kitchen, including the trash can. It was too much. I asked for him to cancel our order and eventually the other guy working there was able to refund us... and then he ALSO went back to making food without changing his gloves! read more

This was my first time and I ordered the Chicken Cordon for lunch and also the Bacon Went on a Date for dinner. I asked for both on sourdough and, as another reviewer stated, the crust was unchewable unfortunately, hence the four stars. Other than the, both sandwiches were absolutely delicious and refreshing and the employees were very kind and patient. Pros: + I enjoyed seeing all the innovative sandwiches on the menu, particularly the bacon/date/goat cheese/turkey sandwich. + The descriptions are fun, like "a bacon went on a date." + Bread was nice and fresh. + The Cobb salad was loaded with meat and other goodies and was well above average, Cons: - Dining area inside is quite small, but most people take out from here. - The bacon/date/turkey sandwich was good but just slightly dry. - The cashier took about 60 seconds looking at the iPad cash register to enter every menu item ordered. If I ordered a "build your own" sandwich I fear I would have been standing there for 15 minutes. - The other staff didn't seem supremely motivated either. - Drink selection is limited in a small fridge, no fountain. I mentioned that I had placed my order with him in person about 30 minutes ago and was told the delay was that the order didn't send to the kitchen...he put the order in the computer himself so not sure what happened there. For some odd reason, Google Maps freaked out while providing directions and sent us in through the back of the complex where this restaurant sits. Once we got to the right place, we were set! This charming indy sandwich place sits in the center with other fast food / fast casual restaurants. There is a Mexican place and a Chinese one, among others. Lots of free parking available. Peebee & Jays, aside from the clever name, features a wide variety of creative sandwiches, plus soup and salads. There is a section of the menu devoted to various twists on PB&J sandwiches. Then there are multiple options for breads, meats, cheeses, and veggies. We opted to share a hot pastrami on whole wheat sourdough. It came with a few veggies that I wouldn't have expected, but made for a great sandwich. So fresh and tasty! Very happy with our choice. While offering many beverage choices to purchase, they also had flavored water available for free. I also tried an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie, which was okay. Nowhere near as good as the sammie. The two employees working were very friendly and helpful. The interior is basic, but with a few hints of charm. We decided we would be happy to return and try other menu items. This is my 4th time here. I'd be able to say many more but it's located in Carpenteria. The food is so good and so fresh. You can build your own sandwich. I always get turkey on rye. I'm Jewish by default so I know about rye bread and it's delicious. I can actually taste every ingredient with every bite unlike other sandwich chains that look pretty but have minimal flavor if any. I love this place. Good quality ingredients and novel flavor combinations. I would give 5 stars but they do this annoying thing with sandwiches ordered lettuce wrapped. They don't roll them like wraps. They take a large piece of green leaf lettuce and place it on bottom of the plate, build the sandwich, leaf on top, then slice in half, as if lettuce can just step in for bread. This idea is straight out of a Timothy Leary acid trip if applied to meat sandwiches. When applied to the egg salad sandwich I ordered, forget acid, it's like they hired the escaped mental patients to assemble. Silly me for not instructing them to wrap my wrap. I incorrectly assumed that a lettuce wrap implies that you, well, wrap the lettuce around like a tortilla. I will next time, and hope I don't have to eat a chicken salad chopped salad with my hands. They no longer allow credit cards (without a surcharge), and with no notice to customers, they abolished using points that have been accumulated over many loyal purchases. I can only assume that the new owners are not locals, because they don't understand locals taking care of locals. The tuna sandwich I ordered today was poor quality. Instead of "where's the beef" I was saying "where's the tuna". There was barely any tuna and the bread tasted stale. I used to love this shop but the quality has went down. My friend ordered the chicken salad and he said the description was chunks of chicken. The sandwich had no chunks of chicken. He said it was not as good as last year. Maybe it was just us that had a poor experience. I will say the potato salad was good. I hope they improve because I like to stop in and buy sandwiches to take to the beach. I will try the other sandwiches to see if they are better. read more
