Since I visited Carp Moon Café through a Yelp Experience, it has become one of my favorite cafés, and every time I come to Carpinteria, I stop by here. My favorite drink is the café de olla. I love the cinnamon flavor. This time, I tried the Blueberry scone, which was warm and delicious. They bake them at the shop every day. The owner and her son are very friendly and nice. I saw their posts on SNS showing them helping local people. I thought it was wonderful, so I wanted to support their local business too. There is outdoor seating, you can have coffee with your dog! There is no parking around the café, so I park in the public parking lot near the beach. Why not stop by this café while you are at the beach or shopping in downtown Carpinteria? read more

We were visiting from Nevada. Stopped by this cafe. It's soo cute! The croissant sandwich and iced latte I ordered was so good! Croissant was like nothing we have back home. The service was amazing. Both young ladies working was so sweet! Their customer service was great.! Check them out, they also sell little trinkets, hoodies, beach towels etc. I bought the cutest hoodie there. read more

This is a cute and cozy neighborhood cafe worth checking out. They have a number of interesting coffee options, which i would have tried if it was earlier in the day. Instead we got an acai bowl and a green smoothie. The smoothie was very good. The acai bowl was ok, as something about the granola tasted off. Service was quick and friendly. Portions were fair. I think I'd prefer to go to Pacific Health Foods or Lucky Llama for açaí bowls though. If you're looking for a nice place to hang out, read, or study, this would be a good option. read more

As always everything was perfect- from their fall drinks to the last bite of chilaquiles! This is one of my top places to get rich coffee and a tasty plate! I tried today their white pumpkin moon where it was the perfect espresso and white chocolate combo. My suggestion is pair it with their delicious cold foam! This is also a hidden gem for their delicious chilaquiles. They make them the right way covered in green sauce and baked to a crisp while being covered with sour cream and queso fresco. It is a must try! Service is always genuine and the best! They have plenty of seating inside and outside! We were looking for our matcha and coffee fix and decided to try this cozy cafe. I got the Iced Dulce Cielo Latte and my partner got their Iced Lavender Matcha Latte. My coffee was a perfect balance of sweet but still tasted the coffee just how I like. I tried my partners matcha and it was creamy and sweet with a hint of lavender, yum! I ordered two coffees and two breakfast items. The burritos were surprisingly good, but the coffee was terrible. Their service needs to be better because there was a lot of confusion with my order. And the way they handled it was not best approach. Although the cashier did make an effort, their barista needs customer service training. Which is a shame because we had high hopes when we saw it and decided to give it a try. It is decorated nicely, and has plenty of seating space of that matters. read more

We came for breakfast and coffee. They serve only one size for a latte, 16oz. I ordered the chilaquiles, and it was really good. I really liked the green sauce. We also got the waffle plate, which was also good! Both meals were good sized portions; and we had leftovers. There's also a station for water with small cups. I appreciated the range of types of seating inside. There are many tables and comfortable chairs. It is also kept clean inside. The employees were friendly and helpful! First of all, I love these little beach town of Carpinteria! I lived in Santa Barbara years ago for about 6 years & made a friend who was from here, so I've gotten to know this area well. But there have been some changes since I've hung out here, but one thing is for sure, Carp has no shortage of charm & beauty. My Hubby & I walked in & it was so magical! I love what they've done inside. There is so much to see. Their attention to detail is Chef's Kiss! It reminds me of a cafe, that is a cross between an English garden & Tea Party, but with Asian touches & part gift shop, but for some reason it works! You can come grab coffee or tea, but if you have a bit of time or have a friend with you, you can bring a book, get some delicious breakfast, & read or journal. You can catch up with a friend over coffee & then take a stroll to the beach, which was very close by. I used to love walking the main streets of Carp & go vintage shopping. I've made purchases of beloved bracelets, rings & necklaces around the corner. Carp Moon reminds me of a place that captures your heart & becomes part of your routine, your life & your history in a city. When I was broke and a starving college student over 20 years ago, I looked for places like this, places that didn't rush to kick you out, where you can get to know people and the staff, and you end up knowing all their regulars, and their secrets menu items. Carp Moon has an impressive menu of food, along with their signature drinks. My Hubby & I wanted something light that we could share. He got a drip, & I had an iced coffee with oat milk. We ordered a green tamale for him & we shared the waffle plate. I don't eat meat so I gave him the crispy bacon. The waffle was so good! I was a little confused, because it was honestly the best waffle I have ever had! And it wasn't heavy at all. I'd literally come back just for the waffle. My Hubby enjoyed the Tamal, & he scarfed that down fast. The tamales were obviously very delicious and are very popular because by the time we were there, that was the last one. You walk in and this place has a cool vibe, and an inviting coffee shop ambiance. It seems like a great place to meet up with friends and have some conversation. I was excited to try the cafe de la olla, which only led to disappointment. I let my friend try it to make sure it wasn't just me and his response was "tastes like cough syrup." I had a banana nut muffin which was moist, and luckily under a glass case as a lot of their other baked goods had flies around them, which kinda grossed me out. After I tossed the caffe de la olla, I ordered a hot mocha and breakfast burrito. The mocha started right with some latte art and served in a ceramic mug, but the coffee was a bit too bitter for my taste. Where this place redeemed itself was its breakfast burrito. Though small it was packed full of flavors and the 3 sauces that accompany it were mouthwatering. Overall it's a great location, great ambiance, and great breakfast burrito, but it needs work on their coffee. That's this critic's review, until next time, I'll be eating. read more

I absolutely LOVE trying out new coffee shops so was super excited to learn about Carp Moon Cafe. I don't make it out to Carpenteria too often, so it was nice to make it out to this cute little town! Carp Moon Cafe is exactly what I would picture a coffee shop in a quaint little beach town to be like - super cute, a bit eclectic, with joyful vibes and delicious coffee. They're known for their Cafe de Olla, which I had never heard of before - so naturally that was the drink I had to try. I don't normally drink black coffee, but this one checked all the boxes with their blend of spices. I found myself enjoying it, which is honestly a feat in the black coffee world for me. Cold Brew was strong and good. Their Milky Way Latte was also tasty - a bit on the sweeter side, but still a great flavor. They have a few pastries options - wasn't the most impressed by them. The muffin looked good but tasted a bit bland. The red velvet cookie looked like it would be soft and gooey, but it was hard and missing a bit of that flavor. So much open space to sit in. The hubs and I grabbed a couple comfy chairs to sit in indoors, but there was also lovely outdoor seating as well. Parking was a bit rough, but we stopped by in the middle of a weekday, so we found street parking a couple blocks away. So excited to have found this new cafe, and we'll definitely be returning next time we're in Carp! read more

This cafe is located on the corner of two busy streets in Carpinteria which wouldn't be an issue except parking can be rough to find. There is a parking lot close by which is helpful. There is seating inside and outside. Inside is overly decorated but it works and is super cute. The staff are friendly and work hard to get orders out quickly. The reason for the lower rating is I just don't like their coffee. My vanilla latte had little flavor of vanilla. My husband got a black coffee and even adding cream and sugar, it wasn't great. I know everyone has different taste when it comes to coffee so while this place may not be for me, it may be for you! read more

In town for the weekend and found this super cute cafe. The decor is such a cozy vibe. They've got a great selection of healthy breakfast options. So excited to find a place that serves cafe de olla. Yelp said open 7 days and opened at 7:30 a.m. arrived on Monday at 7:30 a.m. and it was not open. Checked 'their website" and it said open on Monday at 8:30. Waited for an hour only to find out they are not open on Mondays! You really should update your information! read more

The vibes of this cafe are immaculate! We got the Iced Cafe de Olla and iced Dulce Cielo Latte. We got the banana bread and blueberry muffin as well. It was all very yummy. The most flavorless tiramisu I've ever had. Also the employees could have been a little more friendly.

Our first visit to Carp Moon Café came on the afternoon of New Year's Eve. We were lucky to catch them at closing time, and they were gracious enough to serve us, even though one set of doors had already been locked. Two ladies were tending the coffee bar / making the drinks. Both were very friendly and helpful as we had questions about some of the menu items. This would be five stars for me as far as the ambiance, and food/beverage quality. They still had Christmas holiday decorations up, which is okay in my book. I like the festive lights and colors to stay on until at least after New Year's Day. They have several seating areas set up which are cozy and welcoming. Lots of outdoor tables and chairs are available, too. A couple of things brought the experience down a bit. I was hoping for a blended drink, but I guess I didn't order correctly. I asked about an iced coffee choice on the menu, and stated that I'd like it blended, if possible. It didn't come blended. Dear Hubby, on the other hand, had the magic touch to receive a blended iced caramel coffee beverage. Next time, I'll ask more questions. Another down note was the cleanliness of the all-gender bathroom. It was surface clean, but the walls and floors appear in need of a serious power washing. I'll just leave it at that. The restroom appearance was a 180 from the rest of the café, which was very clean and nicely presentable. Back to the positive - they offer sweet treats like donuts, muffins, macarons, and more. I tried a maple donut. On a holiday, late in the day, that donut was still fresh and delicious like it had recently been glazed at the bakery. Impressive! We'll definitely return. Most likely when it's warm enough to sit out on the patio and people watch the tourists (like us) wandering Linden Avenue. read more

This is a great coffee shop in Carpinteria with plenty of nearby parking & shopping. It's very clean (including restroom :) and feels like someone's living room with lots of comfortable seating. Outside on the streetside patio there are cafe tables where you can enjoy the nice weather. The barista was also very friendly & helpful. We ordered an Espresso Shot & Hot Peppermint Latte. We were going to get some pastries from the full case but then noticed a sign for Tamales. Yep, it was coffee and tamale time :) I had a green and my son had the red, both were delicious and went great with the coffee ;) All fueled up we got back on the road. If you live in the area or are just driving up the 101 like we were this is a great place to stop in and enjoy good espresso and a nice break from the day. read more

Excited to try this place because of the good reviews. Got an Americano and a scone. Neither one was good. The coffee was way watered down and bitter and bland at the same time. We stopped here for lunch and coffee on a road trip. I ordered a traditional macchiato and the avocado toast with poached egg and smoked salmon on top. The avocado toast came on ciabatta bread. My husband ordered a breakfast burrito. The coffee was okay. Not bad but certainly not the best I've had. The avocado toast was good - the ciabatta was delicious and the spicy aioli was a great touch. However, I was a bit disappointed with the add-ons, so I took one star away for that. The smoked salmon cost $3 extra but they basically just sprinkled on a few tiny diced-up pieces. The poached egg was way overcooked- the yolk was fully cooked through. No good! But the breakfast burrito was yummy. I'd order the avocado toast again but I'd probably skip the toppings and save my money. The service was a bit slow, so they lose a star for that too. We were one of the only people there but it still took a while to make our food. read more
