Our group of four stopped by this location as a nice break from our downtown shopping on State st. We were the only patrons in there so we were assisted right away. The location is nice, but it felt really hot inside. The space is small so there's not much seating inside, but they have a small outdoor seating area out front and additional seating options around the corner. They were almost out of pastries so we split their last two croissants amongst the four of us. The croissants were probably my favorite part of the visit. Most of our group seemed to be okay with their coffee choices, but overall no one was overly enthusiastic about their drink so we'd say it's about average. I ordered the iced chai latte and it was probably the worst drink I've had at a coffee shop. It was pretty much a big glass of milk with some chai spices mixed in. Very disappointing. I ended up throwing most of it away. Their staff was okay, but nothing stood out about their service so the experience here overall was pretty mediocre at best.
We're traveling with our dog and looking for a cafe with outdoor seating a little after 4pm. We noticed that Caje had multiple locations and some of them closed early. We went to the Haley St location first only to find out that they didn't have any outdoor seating. Some folks posted pictures of their other locations under the Haley St listing by mistake. :-( We then drove to this location, which fortunately wasn't too far away. It did take a while to find parking, though. It's a small shop with limited seatings and it felt rather hot inside while waiting for our drinks. They were quite busy, and there's only one guy preparing the drinks while another person took our orders. On the other hand, it's cool and shady in the spacious outdoor seating area of Paseo Nuevo, which was right outside the store. I had a small Iced Rose Matcha Latte with 2% milk. The beetroot powder and rose petals on top looked pretty but the Matcha taste wasn't strong enough. Our daughter had a small Iced Hibiscus Tea with Lemonade, which she said was just ok. I had a sip of my husband's large iced Salted Pecan Latte with light ice and almond milk and it was a bit too sweet for me. If we're in the area earlier next time, I would rather try their other Signature drinks at their Arlington St location, which appeared to have a beautiful courtyard as well.
I'm being generous about giving this shop a 2 star, only because I feel bad about giving them a 1 star. The people that work here are nice, I just don't think anyone knows how to make any of the drinks the right way. I've had plenty of bad coffee drinks in my life, but here, they just seem to be handing out cups of only milk. We were taking a break at the plaza next to the shop, and decided to get 3 large coffees, 2 iced caramel lattes and one salted pecan latte. The drinks looked off, but we didn't question it, until we tried it. It was just a large cup of iced cold milk. I see other people mention the same issue. It was the worst cup of coffee I've had in a long time. It went straight in the trash, and we ended up getting McConnell's Ice Cream across the street instead.
Stopped by on our way into SB and service was quick and coffee was great! Moreso a quick grab and go than a sit down spot but there was some seating outside
The rose matcha wasn't very flavorful although it did look nice. I would try something else.
Visited Santa Barbara and stumbled upon this coffee shop. The coffee was delicious, and the hibiscus lemonade tea was just as good. So much beautiful art throughout the space--it was such a fun spot to explore.
I'm very picky about coffee and don't say that lightly, but this is hands down one of the best iced vanilla lattes I've ever had. You can tell everything is fresh. They use quality beans and even make their own syrups, which makes a huge difference. I wish I had something like this where I live because I would be there all the time. It's absolutely worth stopping by, and the staff are genuinely so nice.
Wonderful coffee shop in the downtown area that's open reasonably late. The coffee was amazing. I usually order a cortado or cappuccino when I go to a coffee shop for the first time to evaluate the barista's skill level and they did not disappoint. I was very happy with my beverage, it was the perfect afternoon pick me up. There isn't a whole lot of seating inside, but the downtown area is very walkable so you can always find a spot to sit and enjoy your beverage!
4.5 Stars Beautiful outdoor space with fun (although pricey) signature drinks. I tried their famous Burnout ($10.5), which was good. We also ordered some breakfast items, and I enjoyed my avocado toast except for the balsamic dressing, which overpowered the entire toast with its cloyingly sweet flavor. Perfect place to grab a coffee with some friends and soak up the sun in the gorgeous courtyard.
Love all the Caje Coffee Roaster's cafes locations, but this one is an extra favorite. The baristas here are always fantastic, friendly, generous, and great no matter how busy. And this lovely cafe can get really busy. This is also the caje cafe where I tried their hot cocoa for the first time and aclaim it to be one of THE BEST HOT COCOAS EVER!!! It is really easy to swoon over the magical drink choices here, and not get something so plain like a coffee or cocoa. But everything caje does is excellent. And, wow, this is rich, pure, wonderful hot cocoa. Get with their house made almond milk. It is very low sugar and made with excellent quality chocolate, so actually close to a medicinal drink. Tip: For hot drinks here always ask for extra hot. Sit outside in their parked courtyard. Comfy seats perfect for people watching, reading, and friend chats. A few charming seats inside too. They have an outdoor patio with about 10 sizable seats. The patio is dog friendly. Super cute vibe! Matcha Latte - Comes with a splash of vanilla. The perfect sweeter. Blended really well together. The baristas were helpful with the menu and our drinks came out quickly.

The open-air courtyard was buzzing with happy coffee lovers, adorable babies, and plenty of dogs soaking up the sunshine. With the perfect weather and such an inviting vibe, it's easy to see why this place stays busy. As first-timers, we really appreciated the friendly staff who guided us through their specialty menu. We decided to go all in on their signature drinks, and I'm so glad we did. The presentation alone is next-level--completely Instagram-worthy--and the flavors back it up. Yes, it's a little on the pricier side, but honestly? Compared to Starbucks, the taste and the artistry make it feel like a steal. If you're in town, this is absolutely a must-try spot.
We had a tough time finding a place to hang out and kill time in Santa Barbara waiting out traffic before continuing on to LA. We tried multiple other places that didn't have outdoor seating (so not dog friendly), but then we found Caje on State Street. It's on a protected set of streets where there are lots of shops and stores. There's common outdoor seating just outside the store, which met our objective of hanging out with the dog. Granted it was a hot day, but this store was really really hot inside, like unpleasantly so. I felt bad for the barista! The coffee is reasonably priced, all things considered (fancy flavors, Santa Barbara, crowded location) and the flavor was nice and not one I've personally had before. I asked to go light on the ice and they did a good job there. The wait was a bit long, but we weren't in a hurry, so it was all fine. Good place to stop and relax and have a good tasting coffee. read more
We stopped here during our road trip, excited to finally try the Bella Rose Matcha after seeing all the dreamy promo photos-rose petals, a fresh strawberry, elegant glassware, the full aesthetic. What I got instead? A plastic to-go cup with iced matcha and a sprinkle of beet powder. No rose petals. No strawberry. No presentation. (See attached.) When I asked where the rose petals were, the barista seemed visibly annoyed and just said they had "run out." No apology, no heads-up at the time of ordering. I mentioned the drink didn't look anything like the photos, and he responded that this location only does to-go orders and doesn't serve anything the way it's advertised. Nowhere on the menu or website does it say that-which honestly feels deceptive. To make things worse, while we waited, two of the barista's friends came by and hovered near the counter like they were customers, but it was clear they hadn't actually ordered anything. Normally, I wouldn't care, but it was already taking 10-15 minutes to get our drinks and he seemed fully caught up chatting with them while preparing orders. I get that they probably had a crazy morning rush (it seemed never-ending), but in that moment he seemed distracted and disengaged and when he announced our drinks and I asked about the missing rose petals, it felt dismissive and unprofessional. My sister ordered a vanilla latte that had a cute heart in the foam, and my mom got a chai latte with cinnamon around the rim-it looked and smelled amazing. They both got everything bagels; my sister's had roasted veggies on it. I got a blueberry muffin, which was solid. The female staff were genuinely sweet and welcoming, so props to them for keeping a warm vibe going despite the chaos. The real letdown was the atmosphere. There was nowhere clean to sit. The only usable table was in the mall corridor, and I had to lay down napkins over a fresh puddle of dog pee just to sit. Every other table was dirty or taken. We were traveling with our pup and just wanted a calm, decent breakfast before another long drive, and this was not the vibe. The drinks and food tasted fine, but the whole experience felt scattered, unwelcoming, and nothing like what's advertised online. If you're coming for the aesthetic or a relaxing café moment, don't go to this location. read more

Visited 8/1/25 Smoked Salmon Bagel: 10/10 Rosemary Thai Tea: 8/10 I ordered the smoked salmon bagel and the rosemary Thai tea, and both were absolutely delicious! The presentation was stunning, so much so that I couldn't stop taking photos before eating. My order came out quickly, which I really appreciated, and the overall atmosphere made the experience even better. The seating area is very relaxing and beautifully set up, perfect for enjoying your food at a slower pace. Just keep in mind that the space is primarily outdoor seating, so plan accordingly depending on the weather. read more

I tried the rose matcha latte. It was good, but not anything extraordinary. The reviews seem a bit overhyped because all the photos online are a nice presentation in a glass, but it comes just in a plastic cup. The matcha tasted fine, but I have had better matcha elsewhere. Maybe I would have liked their coffee drinks more. Still deserves credit for being a good drinks, but I just wasn't blown away. read more

My husband and I were hanging out in downtown Santa Barbara and we stopped by to get some regular coffee. The interiors is gorgeous. The staff were okay. The coffee is pretty good and I'll definitely go back to try more of their menu. read more

This place is AMAZING!!! If you're coming to Santa Barbara, and you love fun coffee then you need to come here. We got the Maui Brad which was our favorite. The caramel macadamia nut whipped cream was amazing, and the chocolate banana flavor profile of the coffee was so delicious. Not an artificial banana flavor at all. The Yemen was also great. Not as sweet, but if you are a true coffee aficionado, you'll appreciate this drink. The almond croissants were possibly some of the best we've ever had. They cut their croissants in half and fill it with an almond paste that tasted just like marzipan. They were very generous with the filling as well. The ambiance was great! Lots of seating, and it perfectly encompassed Santa Barbara. Our food and drinks came out fast, and staff were friendly! read more

Came to Santa Barbara and being a coffee lover I had to come to Caje Coffee. It was recommended in so many social media post and also kept coming up on Yelp. I got the blended coffee and it was super refreshing and tasted delicious. The ambiance and aesthetics are super cute. read more
Was here with my daughter on Friday after walking for a while on State St. we got a little thirsty and decided to try this place out. I ordered an iced chai tea latte and my daughter ordered an iced matcha latte . Both of our drinks were very good. They have a couple of benches inside to sit but the seating area is mostly outside in the courtyard of the Paseo Nuevo. I am a plant lover so I loved there shelves with plants. Caje makes excellent latte. The espresso has a distinctive, deeply textured taste that is very appealing. The baristas are all unfailingly polite, the decor is simple and fun, and the line moves quick when there is one. The other day I got a dirty chai latte and it was excellent as well. It's right on State, so it's a convenient spot when you are out shopping or grabbing lunch. I highly recommend Caje! read more
Needed a quick caffeine fix and found this place in the heart of downtown Santa Barbara. Caramel Latte ($6.50, large) - Nice roasted coffee flavor with a hint of caramel. It's on the stronger side, which I didn't mind but lacked the sweeter caramel flavor. Matcha Latte ($6.50, large) - The matcha flavor was on the lighter side. They use Mizuba organic matcha tea sourced from Japan. I appreciate the quality, but the milk slightly overpowered the matcha flavor. Service was quick and friendly. Ambiance is more of a grab and go spot with a few benches inside that didn't feel inviting. Additional seating on the outside. read more

Stopped by Caje Roasters for breakfast and ordered the smoked salmon bagel. The ingredients were fresh, and I liked the addition of dill and tomatoes--they gave it a nice flavor. However, it had way too much cream cheese, which overpowered everything else. It could really use some capers or cucumbers to balance things out and add a bit more texture. I also got a mocha latte, which was okay--not bad, but not particularly memorable either. The vibe of the place is cool, but there's a little room for improvement when it comes to the food and drinks. Service is great. read more

I walked into Caje Coffee expecting a warm, welcoming coffee shop experience--and instead, I was met with the opposite. Two female employees were busy chit-chatting and tearing open boxes behind the counter, while the one male barista barely acknowledged me with a lazy "we'll be with you," all while making a drink. Not exactly the energy of people who want to serve customers. When I finally got someone's attention, there was no greeting--just a flat "What can I get you?" I asked if they carry ceremonial grade matcha, and they stared at me like I'd asked for something absurd. If you offer matcha on your menu, your staff should at least know the basics. I tried to explain the difference between ceremonial and culinary (baking) grade matcha, but instead of listening, the male employee looked at me and snapped, "I didn't hear your question," with a tone that was beyond rude. At that point, I was done. I simply said "Never mind" and walked out. I've never been treated with such ignorance and attitude in a coffee shop before. The staff seriously need training in both product knowledge and basic human decency. Do better, Caje. read more
This is a solid establishment to stop in on state street if you need a pick up--A coffee or tea! Plus a super relaxing environment to kick back and relax with friends, family and strangers. Or a place to curl up with a book or chill in front of a fireplace! All among a very relaxing patio that features beautiful flowers throughout and a fountain! The drink are solid! They have some truly unique drinks and some standard coffee! Some of the drinks get pretty expensive: double digits prices so treat it like a substitute for a cocktail or just treat yourself! Such a cool spot for coffee! The patio is gorgeous, the workers are super friendly and fun and the drinks and food are wonderful! First off, I found this spot online and saw they had a praline latte so I headed over there to try it out. When I got there I was informed It isn't actually called the praline latte, they now call it a burnout and that it isn't made to go because it's a whole experience. Ok, you really shouldn't be mad about sitting down in this space to drink your coffee and eat your brekkie since it's so beautiful. My partner and I took a seat on a bench, but it was a bit chilly so we ended up over by the fireplace. When we finally got our drinks we were shocked at how cute they were! My partner also ordered the almond croissant which was delicious and I ordered the sweet toast which has almond butter, honey, strawberries and blackberries! Such a sweet spot! I will definitely be back to this spot for some more goodness! read more

GET HERE NOW! The girls making the drinks and taking the orders were so friendly and kind! Great service! We got the mocha blended and the classic blended and both were to die for! I liked the mocha just a little bit more. Neither were too sweet - they were just right and very filling because of the heavy cream! Would 100% come back! read more

We went to Cajé on a Saturday morning over a holiday weekend and while it was busy they were able to get us our food and drinks pretty quickly. We split two bagels and both were fresh and light. The atmosphere and seating was very cute and unique. read more

Do yourself a favor and come here for your morning coffee/breakfast every morning! My friend and I made the horrible decision of trying another breakfast spot, and ended up wishing we just came to this spot again. The Rose Matcha is not only gorgeously instagrammable - it also has the flavor to match. It's soooo good! The bagel was absolutely delicious with obviously fresh ingredients. Not to mention the store is super cute and there's a ton of outdoor seating. Would recommend this spot to anyone in the area. read more
