My morning was not going so well so I really craved a really delicious local latte and I chose lighthouse Café for my latte (as opposed to starbucks 1 mile away) as it opened up as I was pulling into the parking lot.. the music was on the lights were on and Bianca was ready to serve us. She helped me decide on a vanilla latte which I never order (wanted something different than my normal mocha and I tried this new latte made by BIANCA and it was phenomenal. Lighthouse has great coffee and great food! Yesterday, i went to the Goleta location by Vons, and got a lavender latte and a breakfast sandwich. The sandwiches are great! I went later in the day, and they did run out of bagels, but I did get an english muffin. It was great with really fresh tasting ingredients. The latte was yummy and flavorful. The only complaint I really do have about Lighthouse is that they always seem so short staffed. At pretty much all the locations I've been to, there will be one person making the drinks and taking orders, and one person in the back making food. I have waited 10-15 minutes for a drink before. This location is close to where I live. And normally the service is not on the great side, today was the exception. Alyssa helped me and was so friendly and service-oriented. She looked me in the eye when communicating, which is not always the case in service these days. And she was smiling and welcoming. My long-standing customer service background has me notice a lot of these things. And she was a breath of fresh air in service that has become lackluster these days. One of the better cafes in SB for sure. They have a wide variety of drinks, and I was especially surprised by all the tea options available! There were at least 5-6 different kinds of green and black teas. I tried the matcha oat latte and the green pomegranate tea, both with raspberry syrup. The matcha was not bad as I can taste the earthy matcha flavor, and I liked how creamy it was. My only complaint is that it was a bit too sweet and that less syrup would've been better. The green pomegranate tea has a very light & refreshing taste. I think I should've opted for a different syrup but it wasn't bad. The cafe also has a lot of pastries and brunch food options. I used to come here a lot before they stopped letting dogs come in to the shop. My dog is too sensitive to be left outdoors while ordering, so I sadly go to Starbucks instead when I'm walking around the mesa. Otherwise, I go to handlebar or caje because I prefer to support local business AND usually have my dog with me. Today I did some work homework at Lighthouse coffee. I ordered their dirty chai hot which was really good. The service was very good and it sounded like the employees enjoy working there. Formerly known as, The Good Cup, this cafe got a full on flip my house renovation and it looks good! New owners, new interior, new everything as of 2018. They even carry the town's best local espresso here, Handlebar Coffee, and pastries from the same bakery Handlebar uses. It's now a very beachy, communal style environment with strong wifi, a few scattered outlet options, booths, tables and out door patio seating. The bathrooms are a breath of fresh air too, which, if you knew Good Cup before, is really the cherry on top of this cafe renovation. While in town I visited a handful of times trying their cucumber toast, oat milk latte, and acái bowls. All a few cents more than I would like to spend but well worth the purchases, would 100% recommend, and will be back for more! Handlebar Coffee, in and of itself, is a gem and the fact that there's a venue on the Mesa that carries it now just raised property values significantly, in my opinion! It's a must try, and oat milk is the best cream to combo it with. The staff here are all so sweet and hardworking! They make a point to remember so many customer's names and keep things personable in a professional manner. They are super knowledgable on the brand and get things done in a prompt manner. I have nothing but great things to say about the food, drinks, and staff here. Oh and they're pet friendly (outside) so there's usually really awesome dogs hanging out nearby. The parking lot seems to always have some construction going on and is definitely not ideal to find a spot quickly around lunch or dinner time. Lazy Acres, the amazing grocery store, is right across the lot + CVS and a hair salon are right next door the the cafe. Chill ambience with a mix of outdoor and indoor seating! It's super close to Paseo Nuevo and perfect to grab a quick brunch before exploring around. Personally, I think this is the best Lighthouse location in Santa Barbara. We always grab our coffees before taking our dog to Douglas Preserve. Lighthouse, in general, has the best chai and dirty chai lattes in the county. That said, their "pastry" section is extremely overpriced. They charge $5 for a maple bar that looks exactly the same as you would get from any old donut shop. Their toasts will cost you about $10 as well. As such, we have never ordered their food. We frequent this specific location and we always tend to have a new barista who doesn't provide much "service," bordering on a bit unpleasant at times. That said, they make delicious chai lattes. When you order the iced tea, you are given the options of black, green or herbal. The barista informed me that they needed to brew more tea, so it would be a few minutes another barista apologized and when I received by order they thanked me for my patience, all so kind!
