I got their black tea with flavor notes of blood orange and hibiscus. I could really taste the blood orange and a hint of the hibiscus - neither was too overpowering. I liked that it was unsweetened. DUNE on Storke Rd. In Goleta is a super laid-back coffee shop with a beachy vibe. I ordered a cold brew and a drip coffee. The drip coffee is not that good but the cold brew was a lot better. The service is super friendly and the barista were happy to switch out the drip coffee for an iced tea. I had to go to the bathroom while I was there. The bathroom wasn't very clean but the service was good that's what matters. read more

Beans are good (though a bit expensive for what/how much you get), but the main problem with dune is their consistency and efficiency. Not only does it take the longest time to get espresso drinks out of any shop in goleta/sb, they are also one of the least consistent. It is not uncommon that the same drink ordered day to day will differ drastically in espresso quality or syrup amount. read more

After our tacos and a walk we felt like GOOD coffee and GOOD pastries... this place came up as the only one with good ratings. Now we know why... ordinary brew is normally bitter to our taste but this Santa Rosa dark roast is smooth and full of nice flavor notes. Those scones and muffin were equally delicious. Probably the dark chocolate one as the most flavorful but very crumbly and not resistant to my clumsy behavior. Great service but I guess we were lucky to walk in when things are not busy as a huge line formed after our arrival. One machine, one batista, probably not enough bandwidth. Place looks like a typical modern coffee joint but thankfully without the Starbucks deodorizer that makes your outfit smell like coffee too. Recommended when you're in the area or traveling through. read more

My youngest took my request for her to search for coffee places near our campsite as a personal, unbreakable covenant that I was buying at least one round of foo-foo coffee. I love it. Made me laugh. So, as we were leaving our whole group enjoyed a bit of Dune Coffee on our way home. We had a decent variety, Chai, Iced Mocha, Dulce de Leche, Cinnamon Cold Foam. All were delicious, though the chai was maybe the least loved. The Iced Mocha was very chocolatey, with just a hint of sweetness. The shop has a somewhat vacant, minimalist vibe. But it was a pleasant place to spend much of an hour and the shady patio was just delightful. read more

This was my first time trying dune coffee and I was far from impressed. They didn't have a cold brew option and when asked for an iced pour over option they said they couldn't do that. But could give us a cup of ice and we could do it ourselves. So we opted to do that and ordered the Benjamin Paz which was $8 and after we paid they told us they actually were out of the Benjamin Paz and told us to pick a different one. There was no other coffee worth $8 so we had to choose a cheaper one and they did not offer us a refund or anything else for the price difference. I gave them 2 stars instead of 1 because their almond butter honey toast was the star of the morning. It was really good but everything else did not meet expectation. read more

Another great experience at Dune coffee. The espresso "for here" is served in a china cup and saucer, small spoon, a small glass of sparkling water, all on a little tray. It never fails to feel special and a treat. But what is even better is the staff: helpful and friendly. Today Jasper noticed I dropped my spoon, and rushed from behind the counter with a fresh one. Came in a couple of days ago and there was a blonde guy with curly hair and a mustache that was working the register. He was extremely rude and not welcoming at all. I work in customer service 6 AM to 3 PM Monday through Friday and I totally understand more than anyone how it is to have a bad day. I don't typically write reviews, but the overall interaction with him alone even after I gave a decent tip was an experience that made me not want to come back. I would rather take the 20 minute drive to downtown and go to the dune there if need be. read more

Santa Barbara has so many coffee shops it's hard to pick which one to go to. Dunes is for sure one of the best in the area. The vanilla matcha is amazing but the matchas and coffees aren't the only things that are great. Their empanadas are fantastic. I've tried the chicken, the beef, the breakfast one, and the vegan one all are tasty in their own way. My top two is the chicken and the breakfast one. I love how this coffee shop has empanadas usually coffee shops have small pastries/breakfast items I love how this coffee shop is different and unlike the rest. Service is great and it's also an amazing spot to study at. read more

On a day trip up the coast and found this great coffee shop in Goleta. Its right off the highway so it's perfect for a quick pitstop if you don't want the Santa Barbra traffic ;) They are also a roaster and have several Dune coffee shops in the Santa Barbra area. The shop was fairly busy but the baristas were hustling and the line went quick. We had a Pumpkin Spice Latte & Double Espresso and both were very good. Especially the latte which was creamy & spicy. Since they are located near university most of the workers & customers were students and there are spaces for studying including outside on the front patio. Perfect for enjoying the weather on a nice day :) They are located on the corner of a shopping center so there is plenty of clean, safe parking. It's a great hybrid of a local coffee shop hangout and highway pitstop. read more

I got their matcha latte with oat milk, sweetened with honey. I couldn't taste the honey at all, and at the same time, there was not much of a matcha taste either. Hmm...There are some things I like about Dune, and other things I dislike: Likes: - Tasty coffee+espresso with a good balance. I'm a huge fan of their Shakerato. - I appreciate that they a "Fancy Drink" option on the menu which rotates. - They have an outdoor patio in front of Ca' Dario which is dog-friendly. Dislikes: - Staff isn't particularly friendly or appears they want to be there (and this is after multiple visits). I originally resisted from writing this review because one of the past managers was extremely rude--thankfully she is now gone. - Their pastry selection is good, but pricey ($5 for a muffin or peanut butter+jam toast?). - They have recently removed a lot of seating inside which is tough at this busy location close to UCSB. Not to mention a limited amount of electric plugs. All together, it's an average A-OK 3 star rating from me. read more

Popped into this location recently to grab freshly roasted beans to make espresso at home. Dune always has great options and their beans create delicious coffee at home! Parking is super easy at this location and they have space to hangout inside and enjoy coffee or get work done. Indoor and outdoor seating options available. I am currently on a hunt for the best iced matcha latte in town. I've been to some amazing matcha places so I do have high standards. I ordered an iced matcha latte and a ham gruyère croissant from here. The matcha didn't have any deep flavor to it and it felt like I was just drinking milk. The croissant was very soggy, I think I made the mistake of saying yes to heated up. As for the ambiance, it seems like a great spot to get some work done and it's very hip and young. I'm not the type of person to usually leave reviews, even if I have a stellar experience somewhere. It's just not really my thing, but my last visit here was genuinely so bad I felt inclined to mention it I've gone to Dune plenty of times in the past, specifically this location too! It's been a few years since my last visit, but I remembered the quality was ok and I knew they used one of my favorite matcha brands so I thought everything would be fine. I also wanted to introduce my partner to their drinks, and I even hyped it up a bit by telling him that their drinks were good Maybe it was because we stopped by near closing, which I can understand wasn't the nicest on our part. We got met with a cold shoulder, and it kind of just felt like the cashier was eyeing us down :( I asked if they had coconut milk and she was really rude and I felt like I was stupid for not knowing that they didn't carry that. The drinks were the biggest shock though, the matcha latte genuinely just tasted like water..? Which is wild because I've used Mizuba matcha at home and also frequent other places that also use it, and there's a stark difference. I can't even say it tasted like oat milk, even though that was the milk base used. My partners Tres Leches latte just tasted like a regular iced latte. It doesn't feel right to give an opinion on this though, because I'm not the biggest coffee snob and maybe that's just how it's supposed to be. Can't say much about the ambience from this trip alone because we got there near closing, but I remember that it used to be a pretty comfy place to study at :) I genuinely hope things improve though! I'm not a coffee drinker, but my husband is quite the aficionado. He found Dune while we were staying in Goleta, and was impressed with their vanilla latte. (He especially appreciated that Dune makes their own vanilla syrup and that it's not overly sweet.) As for me, I like hot chocolate but have been spoiled by a certain *large chain.* Nothing I've had at other places ever measured up...until now!! It just unskilled barista - they all looked like high school kids who somehow use a super expensive Italian coffee machine in vain. Coffee tasted terrible and milk was steam, not froth milk. Decaf was worse than mine. Bagels: it can't be bad. Good. - Conqueror's Deduction - My Man's latte art was terrible (it clearly showed his skills as a barista) and the young man had a nerve to tell him "it wasn't my best" and handed him the not-so-good coffee anyway. He's a coffee snob and pissed at his passion. He didn't like the taste at all, and stop drinking after a few sips. Why don't you remake it if not your best?? You need to stop hiring young kids who lack in the professionalism or train your staff and stop wasting $$$$ on the high-end coffee machine that doesn't do any justice to the coffee. I was staying nearby and saw a sign for this place. I turned to Yelp for a review and more info. I don't normally like "stuff" in my coffee, but the fact that they make their own vanilla syrup and don't load up their vanilla latte with syrupy sweetness had me intrigued. I ordered online and it was ready when promised. I picked it up along with a hot chocolate for my wife. My coffee was excellent and she liked her hot chocolate -- it got a, "it was really good" review from her. If you don't like sweet, maybe go with a regular latte, but if you want something more than a regular latte, and still want to taste the beans, the vanilla is a solid choice. read more
