I have to give two shoutouts to staff. First off Ana, who took our orders, answered our questions about the menu so thoroughly you'd think she'd written it herself. Love when we walk into a place and they make you feel like family. This place was IT. Then we have Jose, who has been working there for 25 years traveling from his hometown in Ventura. That in itself speaks volumes about how much a worker is cared for and clearly loved. We are so thankful for creating such a memorable experience for our family. Give these two a raise The setting inside what looks like to me and I think was an old hotel, vintage artifacts and facts about the restaurant on the walls just ooze authenticity. Now moving on to the food, prices were reasonable and incredibly flavorful. My kids and I enjoyed every last bite. My husband had the ribeye and eggs, kids had the junior French toast, and don't leave without ordering the bodacious cinnamon roll (yes the hype is real). The menu is extensive but don't feel overwhelmed that just means you need to come back again and again to try it all. We most def fell in love with this breakfast spot, we have to come back for lunch because there selections also looked scrumptious. Our kids were asking the next day to go back so see you in May when we go back and visit!

Free breakfast on your birthday! Oh ya! We started with fresh squeezed OJ and cinnamon roll. We both had omelets, one with breakfast potatoes and one with fruit. The service was attentive and relaxed. The setting is really cute, like a country farmhouse. Can't wait to go again.

GETTING HERE: Off the 101 Freeway in Summerland, California. Take Lillie off ramp and you will drive right into it. Sometimes parking is very very limited so just try to be mindful of that. REVIEW: Oh please do not sleep on Summerland Café. I have been coming here since the early 2010. I am so thankful that they made it through shut down. This is such a legendary, iconic, place. Food is always 100%. Over the years I've gotten a variety of items in my most recent item was the sandwich Mary Lambert, Please. My only hiccup is that the bacon was too raw for my liking. I had asked for crispy bacon first and I needed to ask a second time. But the server brought it out without a negative attitude. So that was a plus. All the food is outstanding. I'm so glad to share that! They persevered and are stronger than ever post-shut down. You have the choice to sit outside or inside depending on the availability. Sitting outside, gives you an amazing view of the coast. I highly recommend!

While in the area we decided to have lunch here. It had pretty good reviews on Yelp but I was a bit disappointed. Unfriendly customer service that kind of discourages you right from the beginning. Took our waiter a while to approach us. We had to ask for him twice before he came to take our order. By the way it wasn't even busy the time we got there. It was around 2 pm close to their closing time. I ordered the cheeseburger of paradise with fries. The fries were so oily that I couldn't eat it. The burger was average but again I only ate half. My husband ordered the avo burger which he said he enjoyed. Greasy food lovers will love it here I think. Not my kind of food choice. I do love a good burger but this was not it. Maybe should have tried a sandwich. Anyways it's ok. The decor was cute. Very country looking beach cafe that could have a great ambiance on a busy summer day I believe. ....

If you're looking for a cozy and cute cafe near the beach, this place is perfect. The food is absolutely delicious and the service is great! We loved EVERYTHING we ate - see pics. Highly recommend this place.

Passing through stopped for a bite to eat. Being from LA i appreciate this little town. It has a natural beauty to it. Food was amazing service was fast. Restaurant was very cute n super clean. Menu is large n they seem to have options for everyone. They offer indoor n outdoor seating. Definitely a must try especially if u aren't from the area

Excellent diner food. I drive to Santa Barbara several times a year and this diner is my go-to spot right before i get there. The benedicts here are better than any I've tried in LA and is a must try IMO. Service is always friendly and prices are reasonable. Highly recommend if you're in the area!

Summerland Beach Café is such a charming spot and the perfect way to start a Santa Barbara morning. The atmosphere is relaxed and beachy, with plenty of natural light and a cozy, welcoming vibe. It feels like the kind of place where you can linger over breakfast, watch the locals come and go, and just enjoy the slow pace of coastal life. The service was excellent friendly, attentive, and genuinely kind. My server made sure I had everything I needed without hovering, and the food came out quickly but still felt fresh and made with care. I ordered the veggie omelette with potatoes and extra veggies on the side, along with a warm ginger tea. Everything was cooked perfectly. The omelette was fluffy and packed with fresh vegetables, the potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the tea was soothing and fragrant a perfect balance for a morning by the beach. It's the kind of breakfast that makes you want to come back the next day and try something new on the menu. Between the great service, delicious food, and lovely ambience, Summerland Beach Café is a must-visit whenever you're in the area.

This is my go-to spot for sure! I don't even know how many people I've referred to Summerland Beach Café for breakfast. The food, the atmosphere, the prices. Everything is on point! I always have the Two Two Two with eggs scrambled hard. And a monster hot chocolate. It's the same order every time and the same satisfaction!

First time here! I honestly did not know what to expect but I had a hunch that I would have the best french toast as I was craving it. Service immediately was awesome, was greeted upon arrival. There was no wait time so basically was seated almost immediately. I had the option to choose between inside or patio/balcony but because it was such a beautiful day I chose the patio/balcony. Food omgee where should I start! French toast did not disappoint, fluffy enough and topped with fruit (banana & strawberries) I also ordered a hot chocolate to go with my breakfast. Every single item I tried was just delicious. If you're on the way to Santa Barbara this is a great cute spot to stop for breakfast!

We were driving north and stopped here for a late breakfast. I had bacon, eggs, and French Toast, . The bacon had only about 1:4" of meat on top. The eggs were good. The French toast was only crispy on top. And barely cooked on the bottom. Very disappointing.

Are they still in business - came by on Wednesday 7/20 w a large group and the business was closed w no phone pickup?

Same story here. Drove an hour to have a breakfast around 10am, after checking online for Hours of Operation, only to find a restaurant with no sign of life, no sign to indicate if/when they'd be open, and no phone pick up or voice message. Very…

    Do they take reservations?

They do! If you call ahead. Otherwise I recommend for smaller groups to use Yelp's Waitlist to put yourself in line and shorten the wait.

    Is there room Rv parking?

Not in the parking lot for this business. Lillie Ave west of here also has only car-sized places. Go through to the end and turn right on Evans Ave. That is your best chance for parking an RV within 1 block of Summerland Beach Cafe.

Do we need reservations for Sunday brunch with a group of 4? We are coming from out of town and want to make sure we get in.

We were there for lunch and were seated immediately without reservations. (This was on a Monday and then on a Wednesday, both timed around noon.)

We shared the avocado toast with egg and bacon added, plus a side of potatoes. The avocado smash was good and the egg was cooked perfectly, but the bread was a little dense for me. Nuzz really enjoyed the bacon. The POTATOES though!! So good. Thinly sliced, thicker than a potato chip, perfectly salted and super crispy. The side portion was generous too. Our total was about $53 for the avocado toast with add-ons, potatoes, cold brew, water and tip. I'm glad we shared because that felt pretty steep for one breakfast! And for my IBS friends Two separate, private all-gender bathrooms with actual doors. No stalls. We love to see it. Overall, cute place, good food and a different brunch experience. Nothing was bad at all, but for the price, I probably wouldn't rush back.

Both meals were so flavorful and the ribs were so tender they fell off the ribs. My tri tip with au jus was also well seasoned and prepared. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre at best, especially given the price. And then there was the "croissant." I put that word in quotation marks because what arrived on my plate was less a croissant than a bread roll experiencing an identity crisis. A croissant is supposed to be a minor miracle of pastry engineering: dozens of buttery laminated layers, a crisp golden shell that shatters when you tear into it, and an airy, irregular honeycomb interior. You should finish one surrounded by enough flaky debris to require a small cleanup operation. This thing was pale, squat, dense, doughy, and almost completely devoid of discernible layers. The interior had all the airy honeycomb structure of a hot dog bun. It looked as though someone had taken a dinner roll, bent it into a crescent, pinched the ends, and hoped geometry would do the rest. There was no shattering crust. No honeycomb. No glorious buttery lamination. No shower of flakes. Just a soft crescent-shaped bread product that had apparently once heard a croissant described from another room. I have eaten spectacular croissants. I have eaten mediocre croissants. I have eaten mass-produced grocery-store croissants that, whatever their shortcomings, at least understood the assignment. This one appeared not to have read the syllabus. So: lovely patio. Potent cold brew. A perfectly pleasant place to sit for a while. But if pastry is the reason you're going, just make a U-turn. Photographic evidence attached. France, please accept my apologies.
