Crab Cake Sliders with Sweet Potato Fries
    Harold S.

There are lots of eateries in Carpinteria, but this is definitely one of the better ones. I had lunch here on a Sunday afternoon. Although this place is very popular it wasn't especially crowded that day, so we were able to get immediate seating. Most of the seating is outdoors, but they do have some indoor seating should that be your preference. There are heat lamps at each table in the outdoor area, which is nice if the weather requires it. I ordered the crab cake sliders which I thought was nice and tasty. It comes with a potato chips or french fries, but I upgraded to sweet potato fries for an additional $2. I don't believe the restaurant has their own parking lot, but there is ample free street parking nearby.

Substituting shrimp for fish in the tacos. Shrimp were perfectly cooked. Also asked for aioli for the fries.

Our choice for dinner after driving from Sacramento. Server was friendly and attentive and let us substitute shrimp for the fish in the tacos. Really nice patio section. Shrimp in tacos was cooked perfectly. Would definitely come back.

Super busy restaurant. Not enough servers. Long wait time. Food=under whelming Our server was nice but there were only two servers in the whole restaurant therefore lacked attentiveness. Mac and cheese was a little watery. Ahi poke nachos were delicious and tacos were okay (forgot to take a pic )All in all it was an ok experience but wish it would've been better.

I was up in SLO and I was looking for a dog friendly restaurant to have lunch at in Carpinteria on the way down the coast. I choose Teddy's by the Sea and I'm so glad I did. We showed up at 1pm on a Friday and parked in the back. They gave us a great patio seat and my little dog was happy to be sitting with us. My housemate ordered fish tacos with their amazing house made potato chips and I got the crazy good ceviche. Great little bar inside, cool vibes and amazing food. Dog friendly didn't hurt but added to the experience. Now I have a place to eat while going up the coast!

Driving 101 north in February on a pleasant sunny day, I searched YELP for a lunch spot. I saw this restaurant with a patio and umbrellas that looked popular with locals. The place had a few parking spots behind the building. It turned out to be a good choice. The fish sandwich I ordered was delicious and filling. As other reviewer wrote, service was slow. there were only a server and a bartender but both were polite and as efficient as could be with all the outdoor tables getting filled.

Driving back from Santa Ynez to LA, we popped into Teddy's by the Sea for a quick lunch. Seated immediately out front, and bonus points for ample parking in the back. I ordered a Bloody Mary. It was good, but I later spotted a "Mary by the Sea" on the menu that sounded like a clear upgrade. Would have loved that to be mentioned. Easy upsell, missed opportunity. My friend got the margarita flight and was very happy. We started with the ahi nachos, then each had a cup of clam chowder and split a wedge salad. The ahi nachos were solid but felt like they were missing a little something. A hit of citrus or spice would have taken them up a notch. The clam chowder was thick and really well done with a great clam to potato ratio. The wedge was classic and fresh. A little light on the bacon, but honestly, no complaints there. Service was good, the vibe was easy and comfortable, and it is absolutely a place I would stop at again on the drive.

We were in town for our anniversary and wanted a simple tasty lunch. The clam chowder with a side salad was perfect with large chunks of clams that were delicious and not too chewy! We enjoyed sitting outside. There were lots of options on the porch too. The wait staff was efficient and helpful. We'd definitely come back again! Thanks!

Day trip to Carpenteria. Teddy's was recommended to us by a friend as a good spot for lunch. Located on the main drag (Carpenteria Ave), it easy to find. They have a good sized private lot behind the restaurant so parking is easy. They have a nice patio behind the restaurant but they weren't serving on it when we were there so we opted for the front patio. Also lovely (see photo). Tatum, our server, was very welcoming and friendly. Service was excellent throughout. We shared the fish tacos and the wedge salad. The tacos came with a side. We went with the house made chips. Presentation of the food was excellent. However, the taste was just OK. So ambiance and service were a 5 star, food just a 3. Overall, 4 star.

70° and filtered sun were perfect conditions to have lunch outdoors at Teddy's. Friendly server, big glasses of ice water. I ordered the salmon tacos and Pamela ordered the clams linguini. Three waitstaff brought out all our food simultaneously. Both our meals were delivered HOT and the salmon in my tacos was generously proportioned and cooked perfectly. Lunch for around $20 per plate. Definitely glad we stopped in!

Excellent! We loved this place! Right in the heart of Carpenteria, nothing fancy, excellent food! We sat on the patio with our little dog...great view of the passers by and the burger place next door was hopping! I will say that our server was a bit slow and lacked personality... we told him it was our first time here, he wasn't eager to recommend any dishes. I asked him about the seared tuna and he just shrugged his shoulders and said "ya not real popular, people order it some like it some don't." Ok? I asked what kind of vegetables were in this dish and he said he didn't really know ok? I'm sorry? But do you work here? I went ahead and ordered the seared tuna with their yummy rice and veggies and it was awesome! My husband loved his fish tacos and oysters! I would definitely eat here again and recommend giving them a try!

The food and service was great!! Went on Memorial Day at 1pm. We were seated right away, they took our order as soon as we sat down. Food came out fast. We ordered the fish chips, ceviche and Poke nachos we asked for the fries to come out well done. The fries were great and the Poke nachos was our favorite pick of our lunch. 10/10 meal would definitely come back again.

    Kids' Fish and Chips
    Gabriel N.

The lobster Mac and cheese was delish. The clam chowder and the linguine with clams were also top. The kids' menu fish (crisp) and chips (tender) were just right. The environment is snug, with several windows facing carpintería ave. The attitude was cool, a little rude, hence the 4 stars. Wish it weren't so but to tell a 9 year old to "don't be sorry, be better" when she asked for an extra fork - face palm.

Well, things have certainly changed. Cousin in from New York, spent day at beach, hungry, Super Bowl Sunday, so nobody there lol. We order ahi nachos, make quinoa salad, and fish and chips I proceed to get the worst meal I've ever had there. Ahi not that fresh. Kale salad: inedible. It looked like a whole bag of huge pieces of tough, unchopped kale thrown in a bowl. A few pieces of Parmesan, where's the quinoa? Couldn't eat much of that. Fish and chips: warm , not hot and crispy, doughy batter, lukewarm fish. Sweet potato fries lukewarm not crispy, usually my favorite only had a few of those. Ate the fish, we were hungry. Told the waitress, asked if it was a new chef because of superbowl Sunday. No, she said. Ok I guess this is what it is now? I was a recipe testing chef for bon appetit magazine, i know food. Teddys was always a great little beachy place. Not anymore. Don't think I'd go back anymore.

Good quality of food : fish and chips. Cream chowder, seared ahi tuna which correlates with prices. Service is fine too. Highly recommend.

We waited about 15 minutes until one of the servers came to take our drink order and then we sat for a half hour before anyone came to take our food order. And the only reason the guy came over was because I kind of gave some eye contact. He was very nice and apologized for the wait. And I sure wish he would've written down our order because it came out totally wrong. We ordered an extra patty on the side, it was missing. They gave me ranch dressing for my salad and I ordered balsamic. They forgot our sweet potato fries so we mentioned it to the runner who served us and they didn't come out until our food was almost all eaten and they still charged us for it! Crappy customer service! Then we waited way too long for the check and I had to go find someone to ask for it. This was the longest stop for a burger ever! Seriously you guys need to pull it together! We've dined here twice before and never experienced issues like this. We came from Ventura as we prefer it over the one near us so this was not worth the drive. It just seemed like a flaky night of unorganized everything! Probably won't bother making the trip again.

Wife went for the Crimson Horizon, and she enjoued it. I got a sip and it was smoother butterier than the Firestone cali squeeze? I tried the Avocado Honey Ale since can't go wrong with description of amber honey ale! Was told it was a version of their kolsch with local honey. Wow, it was smooth with a bit of sweet finish, so addictive!!! Still had hours to drive so couldn't just have as many as I wanted, but I checked online and seemed Albertsons sold it so figured I can just pick them up back at home. But the gentleman resting at the bar told me he delivers their beer but only up to the hills. I guess maybe available in stores up to Camarillo, but not over that hill/mountain. I had to have more of it, and they had 6 packs in the cooler for purchase so went for a pack. The green cans are such delightful vessels to hold the even more delightful liquid inside. Wife even cut out the top and using the cute cans as planters, lol! The cans poured out at home was excellent as well, very fresh and refreshing and could get tiny hints of avocado on sips. Just a great beer! After browsing the brewery, it seems avocado honey ale is their signature beer, so I got lucky to choose that from the menu, lol. While enjoying the beer, the amtrak train blew it's horn to leave from the Carpinteria station, so we rushed out to wave and enjoy seeing that go by right in front as well. I am sure the locals were shaking their heads at our excitement of seeing the train go by, one gentleman when leaving even complimented my kid's dance moves from when we were out there to greet and send off the train, lol! Awesome local spot and great folks, just a very relaxing spot to enjoy the delicious avo honey ale! Just hidden so maybe not many visitors to Carpinteria find it, but I picked it out from search for brewery and chose this over the other one on the main streets. What a find for an out of towner! Hope they can expand out or grow their delivery area, maybe get it sent to total wine which must have a distribution center. Otherwise, this is a must stop for any SB trips for sure!

Sister said scramble wasn't great either, underwhelming flavor. My homemade jam looked weird and like it was frozen previously maybe; like chunky and watery not like picture on Yelp. Coffee was bitter. Charged us for using CC, which I feel like it's a business cost, shouldn't be customers (personal opinion across the board). And then an added a 20% gratuity for 6 ppl. Pretty high percent to assume it's deserving. Maybe 15-18% with the option to leave extra is more appropriate. Would've had it removed but family was ready to go and over it. Wouldn't have stiffed her of course, she was very kind and friendly. Just not quite a 20% auto gratuity experience. I don't think we even got a happy Father's Day from anyone.. Didn't feel like we were checked on, couldn't have the jam or potatoes fixed, just saw her at the beginning and end. my daughter did say later that she came once, but apparently the rest of us 5 missed it.
