Chicken Vodka Pasta
Lauren L.

First time trying Mollie's, and I can say that the service is very kind and welcoming. The food, however, was incredibly underwhelming. Here's a break down of my experience: First of all, we came on a Tuesday afternoon for lunch. It says on the menu to ask about the daily special, but there weren't any. The waitress told us that on the weekdays, they do not offer daily specials since they do not have seafood on the weekdays; a weekend exclusive is what we were told. Very disappointing. We said it was fine, however, when it came to placing our orders from the menu, the waitress stopped us three times to let us know they were out of certain ingredients like ham and Italian bacon. Most of the food we ordered were not the dish in its complete form. Pasta Amatriciana: The dish I ordered. It did not come with the cured pork Italian bacon as advertised. The dish itself looks visually appealing but it was incredibly mediocre. The sauce was watery and poorly seasoned. Overall, the dish lacked flavor. I rate it as a 1/5. Chicken Vodka Pasta: the dish my mother ordered. Her comments were the same as mine. She notes that the sauce lacked seasoning and she described it as tasteless. Again, another poor dish. She rates it as a 2/5. Chicken Fettuccini: the dish my father ordered. He didn't have that much to say about it other than it being subpar. He rates it as a 2/5. I will say, in terms of pay, the price was fair. For 3 dishes, all of which came with generous portion sizes, totaled to about $62. Overall, I don't see myself returning to Mollie's in the future. They were out of many ingredients which led to mediocre dishes being served. If you wish to come here, I strongly suggest you visit on the weekend since they only serve special/ seafood dishes then. Other than that, Mollie's is a hard pass.

Carbonara

Mollie's is the kind of Italian restaurant that instantly makes you feel at home. The staff treats you like family from the moment you walk in, and that warmth carries through the entire experience. The homemade pasta is outstanding -- you can really taste the difference. I ordered the carbonara and it was absolutely delicious: rich, perfectly balanced, and cooked just right. Comfort food at its finest. Between the welcoming atmosphere, attentive service, and truly great food, Mollie's is a place you'll want to come back to again and again. Highly recommend if you're looking for real Italian food with heart.

Seafood pasta special

I had such a wonderful time here. It's a small restaurant with a casual vibe and lots of local regulars. You can see the open kitchen and all of the cooking while you wait. The menu is simple with daily specials but everything is crafted with care and tremendous technique. Handmade pastas, sauces, and high quality ingredients. I see people dining in and also taking food for dinner. We were given house made foccacia while we waited and had two whole plates of this! It was delicious, soft, and went well with the oil and vinegar at the table. We had the seafood pasta, lasagna with meatballs, and finished with panacotta and an americano. The quality and cook on the seafood was incredible. The clams, mussels, octopus, and shrimp were all perfectly cooked and incredibly fresh. You can really taste the difference. Lasagna layers were so impressive and a perfect amount of sauce. The meatballs were delicious with raisins providing a mellow sweetness. Dessert was a perfect cap to our lunch. Coffee was strong and the panacotta was lightly sweet, creamy, and brightened with orange. Mollie and her staff were incredibly kind. We will absolutely be back!

Meatballs. Amazeballs - literally might be their name. Worth it.

Mollie and Ali...we love you. Amazing visit with my folks for early Mother's Day and my dad's birthday. Your food and experience are without equal and I will treasure this forever. And yes, will we be back? Happily and yes. You two are the perfect team. We love you, and we will see you again soon!! Ashleigh

Do they have gluten free options?

Yes! There is always at least one. But you might want to call and see if she has gluten free pasta the day you are going as her GF pasta is awesome!

Very reasonable prices, tasty pizza and pasta (we got the pesto pasta, cacio e pepe, and Estiva pizza), and we were treated to a complimentary sample of the vanilla coffee bean gelato, which was made in-house too. They were very kind, checked on us throughout the meal, asked how we liked the food, and were genuinely sweet. I honestly found the timing of the meal very reasonable as well--not too long at all. We had plenty of time to catch up, and they didn't mind that we sat there chatting together for a while. The Estiva pizza was one of the best bites of pizza I've had in a long time, and I was honestly so happy there was a slice to take home because I enjoyed it that much. Kind couple serving delicious home-style Italian food that, for me, was better than anything I've had at an elevated Italian spot in this city thus far. They're primarily a takeaway operation and less than half a mile from the beach, so the possibilities for a beachside picnic are endless. Big thank you to them for bringing this experience to the community. I hope to return with more friends and family soon.

5/5 - Outstanding Italian Dining Experience…read more Italian Deli Company in Pasadena exceeded our expectations in every way. The ambiance is beautiful, clean, and welcoming, with both indoor and outdoor seating that creates a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. The mellow Italian music in the background added to the authentic dining experience. The food was exceptional. We ordered the Tagliatelle Polpette, Pollo e Prosciutto, Burrata e Prosciutto, and Salsiccia e Peperonata, and every dish was delicious and expertly prepared. The quality and freshness of the ingredients really stood out. From the fresh arugula and Parmesan cheese to the prosciutto and wine selection, everything tasted high-quality and carefully sourced. The service was friendly, attentive, and fast. A special touch was Chef Lalo coming out to greet us personally, which made the experience even more memorable. The portions were very generous and offered excellent value for the price. We ended up taking food home because there was so much, and every bite was worth it. As for the noise level, there were a few families with children, but everyone was respectful, and the overall atmosphere remained calm and relaxing. If you're looking for authentic Italian food, fresh ingredients, generous portions, and outstanding hospitality in Pasadena, Italian Deli Company is definitely worth a visit. We'll be back!

I was pleasantly surprised at the welcoming staff and warm ambiance. Going to slide one complaint in here, the noise level in the upstairs portion of the restaurant is LOUD. We sat upstairs and it was pretty difficult to hear my friends talk from just across the table. We powered through, and by the second half of our meal, most diners had finished and left us upstairs with only a couple of lingering parties. THEN this place became GREAT! Here's all that we stuffed ourselves with during the cacophony of chatter: Panee Olio - Fresh baked ciabatta, olive oil, mixed olives - the bread was GOOD, nice crust, soft inside. It does make me sad that bread is no longer complimentary in 90% of all restaurants I dine at. Insalata Bietole - Roasted organic beets, wild arugula, strawberries, candied pecans, burrata, red wine vinaigrette - MMMMMM, this was a delicious salad. The burrata added such good creaminess to the dish. I love me a red wine vinaigrette, great balance of acid. Prosciutto Rucola e Tartufo - Ricotta sauce, fresh mozzarella, truffle shavings, arugula, shaved parmesan, white truffle essence - it's a nice light flatbread dish. I think I personally would have enjoyed the prosciutto baked crispy on the flatbread instead of fresh for more saltiness to the dish. Lasagna - Bolognese, bechamel, mixed mushrooms, parmesan - my friend loved her lasagna with the white sauce instead of red. I'm definitely coming back to try more of the menu. Street parking is found at a premium here, there's a small structure with a handful of subterranean parking around the corner and up the street.
