Absolutely delicious from start to finish. The food was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care--but the salsa deserves its own shoutout. It was to die for, easily one of the best I've had and totally addictive. The staff was incredibly personable and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. The ambiance was clean, comfortable, and spacious enough to easily accommodate our large group without feeling crowded. Even better, there was no wait time at all to be seated, and once we ordered, the food came out surprisingly fast. Overall, a fantastic experience with great food, great service, and a relaxed, inviting atmosphere. We'll definitely be coming back and recommending this spot to others!

Chile relleno special with a fried egg and hash browns - incredible.

Breakfast is so good we ate here twice on our quick trip to Santa Barbara. Outstanding service, your coffee mug is always full, and the Mexican breakfasts are standouts. Huevos rancheros, chile relleno, Mexican scrambled eggs with salsa, homemade beans. The hash browns are also delicious (home fries wouldn't be my pick). We enjoyed the french toast as well.

We were in town and stopped by here for breakfast on a Friday morning. Nice little hole in the wall with great food. The place is clean and service was friendly. Our food came out nice and hot. We ordered the Ortega Scramble with crispy hash brown side, so tasty with their homemade salsa they bring to your table. Also got the chorizo con huevos that came with beans with sprinkled cheese on top. Their berry French toast was the perfect dessert. So glad we came here to avoid a big crowd at other places.

Quaint diner with an old school feel. I ordered the Mexican omelette with hash browns and sourdough toast. Omelette was filled with chorizo and very tasty. Hash browns were perfectly done and the coffee is strong. The house salsa is delicious. Staff is friendly and prompt with coffee refills and provide the perfect amount of attention. I'm a diner nut and this place is right on the mark. Please go to Luna's and enjoy a bite.

I visited this family-owned restaurant for breakfast and it was so good! The staff were super attentive and kind from the moment we walked in. There were a few people dining inside and one person outside enjoying their mean with their dog. I ordered the red chilaquiles (they also offer green) and they were delicious! They were just the right amount of spicy topped with sour cream, cheese, onions, and avocado.

The location, food, atmosphere and experience was great! Highly recommend it. Great find just a few short minutes from all the bustle of state street restaurants. Parking was easy specially on weekends.

I forgot to take photos of the food! The chile relleno special was legit. The hash browns were well cooked. The service was very friendly and warm. The food took a little bit but they kept the coffee flowing. My companions' meals of chicken fried steak and huevos rancheros we also delicious. Yes, I got a bite. I'd give this place a try.

Visited on a Friday around 11, service was fast and great! (Weekends are much busier and longer wait time but that's to be expected at any delicious restaurant ) Green Chilaquiles were delicious, --very spicy but flavorful! Also tried a short stack of pancakes with strawberries and they were also delicious and moist. Highly recommend for an authentic at home type breakfast.

Luna's Cafe (not to be confused with Luna Grill) just opened in the former location of the venerable Judge For Yourself. It's open for breakfast and lunch, serving traditional and Mexican breakfasts, plus burgers, sandwiches and salads. They open at 6:30 for early risers like me. Indoor and outdoor seating. Nice old soulful building. Looks good! But of course we'll all miss the neighborhood vibe of the Judge. Let's hope this'll be a good addition to the breakfast/lunch scene.

It's been a hot minute since I've posted any reviews and my meal just ignited me to come and share my foodie experience. What a delightful meal! Please please please try the GREEN CHILAQUILES! (I added a grilled chicken breast) and they were the BEST chilaquiles I've had in SANTA BARBARA, absolutely delicious! Tortilla chips, soaked in a homemade savory mild spicy salsa with its combination of queso cotija, queso fresco , that crema drizzle. With a half of avocado thinly sliced on top. Chicken breast was grilled and remained juicy, bursting with flavor! 2 over easy eggs just made it even better! I immediately tasted the AUTHENTICITY in every bite. The SAZON keeps you smiling ear to ear in every bite. My daughters loved the fact that they did not have to ask for refills. The staff is extremely attentive and helpful. All of my family enjoyed their plates of food. Breakfast with a dash of homemade salsa. I got the pleasure to meet the owner Sr Federico. I had to give thanks for the amazing meal and greet the chef that knew how important AUTHENTIC MEXICAN cuisine should be made, eaten, shared and enjoyed. My family and I also enjoyed the fact that the portions were big and the prices were definitely fair and the BEST part by far is the fact that the food tastes FRESH and not frozen. I can't wait to come back for some more.

Big meaty patty, with melty cheese, piled high with lettuce, tomato and red onion with a special sauce on a buttery brioche bun! You can really sink your teeth into this one! You order at the counter and the food is brought over to your table. The service was friendly, though it could have been better--we had to get our own water, cutlery, and napkins and nobody came to check on us throughout the meal. Maybe that was because we came right at opening on the weekend. Food-wise, some dishes were better than others. The smoked brisket banh mi was disappointing, mainly because the brisket was chewy. The burrata-tomato salad with added chicken breast was good and felt fresh and satisfying. The chicken salad sandwich was okay, but the bread was too hard, which made it less enjoyable. On the positive side, my son really enjoyed the kids' grilled cheese sandwich with fries. Overall, The Daisy has a lovely atmosphere, and a great dog-friendly patio, but the food was a bit hit-or-miss during our visit.

It feels expensive upfront but with portion sizes, it's a great deal. For a lighter meal, just share a sandwich and soup with a friend, a lover, whoever! The house lemonade and tea are delicious, with the lemonade being perfectly sweet and tart. Soup of the Day was French Onion, which is on the sweeter side, and comes with cheese and a crostini soaking up the broth. Onions are very nicely caramelized. It was tasty but the portion of this soup was a bit large for the intensity of the soup sweetness, almost like syrup after eating it enough. Any other soup - I'd be fine with the portion size. Partner's review of the BLT: "Plenty of bacon and toasted very nice on sourdough, the sourdough with the soup was balanced. I can tell they added a little bit of butter on the sourdough for the extra crunch. Vegetables - they're vegetables, FRESH though." I had The Griller, hot with provolone on a bolillo roll. Packed with flavor from the peppers and olives, plus all the meat protein was the bomb!

I walked in and spoke with the guy working the bar area. I wasn't sure if I had to order my drink there or if there was table service. He said he could take my order and then I could go find a table to sit at. I placed my order for a Spritz and found a table outside. It seemed like 15 minutes had passed by and still no drink. He tended to another table in front of me with a group of women he knew. I thought he would stop by my table after, but he didn't even acknowledge me. Finally, another staff member tended to me and I told her I had placed my order at the bar and was still waiting for it. She was very kind and quickly got it for me. My observation of this guy, was that he acknowledged everyone around me but for some reason never acknowledged me until my bill was ready. Such a bizarre experience! In any case, I still managed to enjoy myself and was glad the Eva waited on me. She was very kind and I appreciate her getting my drink and food in a timely manner. I ordered the Spanish cheese plate, which was the perfect snacking board. It comes with manchego, membrillo, corn nuts, cornichon, quince, strawberries, focaccia, and charcoal sourdough bread. Note that this is a review specifically for a private event (wedding lunch reception)…read more My wife and I recently got married at the Santa Barbara Courthouse and were looking for a restaurant to host a lunch reception and State & Fig absolutely delivered. A 5/5 experience and we would certainly work with them again. We were in contact with Serina for about a year before the wedding and she was very accommodating, responsive, and helpful throughout the entire process. We initially met with her to discuss our vision, had a food and cake tasting, and also a final walk through with our coordinator to ensure everything was smooth. In terms of food, atmosphere, and service, I would want to go through all three in detail: 1) Food: We had a lunch style buffet and the food options were fresh and many of our guests gave very positive feedback and took shameless second trips. Serina and the owner (Patrick) were able to source many of the ingredients seasonally and cater to our guests' palate (Asian-inspired, etc.). We had a tasting and they took our feedback into consideration in earnest. Moreover, our strawberry cake was AMAZING. 2) Atmosphere: The restaurant had a great layout for our party size (~90 or so) with seating inside, outside, and upstairs. This arrangement allowed us to have an intimate reception despite having a lot of guests. The decor in the restaurant is minimal, which allows customization to make the space truly our own. State & Fig allowed us to borrow a few decorations, which was generous. 3) Service: The two points before were already excellent, but State & Fig's outstanding service took the lunch reception to another level. Serina was a joy to work with in terms of bringing our vision to life and was always there to make things easy for us. Patrick ensured that this was a special day for us, and encouraged us to soak it in and enjoy it as much as we can. And the wait staff and servers on the day of were professional and attentive. For that, we are immensely grateful. There were other restaurants that we toured before selecting S&F, and it was clear that hosting the reception would simply be a transactional business affair. This felt like a genuine desire to make our special day a memorable experience. Overall, a 5/5 experience and we hope that others will be able to have State & Fig host their special day. P.S. A funny aside: we met a couple sitting next to us during our tasting, who were returning to celebrate their anniversary after getting married at S&F. They told us we were in good hands and not to worry, and we AGREE.
