Breakfast sandwich on croissant with bacon!!
Chris G.

This place has gone downhill so much it's sad. The prices are outrageous now compared to what they used to be. The inside smells and is dirty. The counters and tables need to be replaced. The chef and the owner were talking about my friend and I in Spanish. I speak Spanish and understood everything they were saying. Really rude thing to do for paying customers. The hash browns were cold and not cooked fully. The portion side was small the chorizo and bacon tasted old. Plus to top it all off we both got food poisoning there today. Lost a long time customer today.

I'm always on the hunt for a classic diner with good food and Garrett's hit the spot. The interior is nothing fancy, but the service was friendly and quick on a Sunday morning. We ordered: -one blueberry pancake to split -chorizo eggs benedict -chicken fried steak The blueberry pancake was definitely the highlight of the meal: fluffy, full of blueberries, and not too sweet. My partner said the chorizo in his eggs benedict was a bit dry, but everything else was tasty. The gravy in my chicken fried steak was tasty and my over easy eggs were cooked perfectly. This mom and pop spot will certainly be added to the breakfast rotation!

Santa Barbara - Located on the corner of state st- across from the Arco gas station. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and seated! Very Welcoming place. I love that the staff is mixed etnicities and languages- thank you!!! The place is small, clean and a homey relaxed feeling. The staff works as one, so there is always someone aroind to help. The french toast is grilled to perfection and sprinkled with powder sugar. They are yummy! The eggs are cooked to over easy and the yolk is runny yet not globby! The bacon is crispy and crunchy - homefries were good, i wanted them to have a crunch . The meal was the perfect beginning to the day!

Name of the restaurant.

During our recent travels through Santa Barbara, we stopped at Garrett's Old Fashioned Restaurant. While the venue is intimate, the service was exceptionally friendly and attentive. As a connoisseur of eggs Benedict, I have sampled the dish in numerous locations; while the Hollywood Cafe in San Francisco previously held my top ranking, Garrett's has now officially surpassed it. The portions were perfectly sized, the service was remarkably efficient, and the pricing was reasonable. Furthermore, the pancakes were excellent. My husband, who is typically difficult to please when dining at new establishments, was thoroughly impressed by the Monte Cristo and remarked on the high quality of the restaurant. We look forward to returning to Garrett's whenever we are in the area. Thank you for an outstanding dining experience.

Great service and good food! The place looks a bit rundown - outside and in - but the owners are very friendly and kind. I enjoyed the Monte Cristo sandwich after surfing with a side of homestyle potatoes. The potatoes benefit from a little more seasoning for me, but overall a good meal. Don't come looking for ambiance, this is just good old fashioned dinner-esque food.

This is a cute, quaint, corner restaurant with good food! We went with friends on a Saturday morning. Our waitress was nice, attentive to refilling our drinks, asking if we need anything, etc. She took our order right away and had a kind demeanor. I ordered the Eggs Benedict. It was tasty. I will definitely be back when we're up in Santa Barbara again!

Vegggie omelette

2 stars was gonna give one star but I decided to give 1 star for the cashiers costumer service. Food gets 1 star : Because the veggies inside the omelette are not even sautéed properly, tomatoes still have the after taste and asparagus is literally not sautéed. Also there's way too much onion in it, the ratio is off Finally this omelette is not worth $18

A place to park?

Parking is usually difficult. There are a few spaces in back of the building but they are most often not available. Its on a corner, so street parking is viable. We used Uber.

Not much was open which is how we ended up here. The place was super hot so we decided to order our food to go and there was a super annoying drunk guy ahead of us in line. I felt bad for the 17 yo employee stuck interacting with them. We ordered a sandwich with shrimp in it. L said it was good but the title shouldn't mention shrimp as they were super teeny tiny and basically non existent. I got the gluten free fried rice bowl with chicken spicy. It was not spicy at all, and the chicken was a bit dry, however I could taste the flavor of the chicken and the meal was bland enough that I knew I would be okay. Earlier in the day before the bowl we went to a winery and I had a headache, so this food for me last night worked especially since we picked it up to go and had it at our Air BnB.

We went once to pick up sandwiches, then dropped in last month for an easy Friday lunch. It's been a valuable addition to our Santa Barbara rotation. We will probably take out more than we dine in, but our sit-down lunch was quite pleasant. The shop is small and charming, and it has a lovely patio with full table service. Our waiter was attentive and helpful. We ordered two glasses of Prà Otto Soave, a nice Italian white. Such a treat to have wine on a patio with a sandwich lunch. I've tried a handful of the sandwiches, and all of them have been great. I'd highly recommend the finocchiona, with fennel salami, fresh pecorino, artichoke cream, and eggplant. The capocollo is good too, with coppa salami, spicy pecorino, arugula, and extra virgin olive oil. My husband's go-to is the caprese, a solid sandwich with cured prosciutto, buffalo mozzarella, fresh tomatoes, basil, and extra virgin olive oil, though it does taste much better with balsamic vinegar, which our waiter was able to provide. On the hot side, I've enjoyed the porchetta, with pork belly roulade, provola, roasted peppers, and lemon dijon. Portions are on the small side, and the focaccia was better on our first visit (I'm guessing it was fresher that day), but overall, I've really liked the sandwiches. If you want Italian sandwiches in Santa Barbara, Olio Bottega is probably the place to get them. I look forward to my next lunch, whether it's at home or on that patio.

I feel like the guy at the register was nice, he wasn't really informative, it was a bit more " you can try this, or you can try that" when someone says it's their first time ask what they like, I always give that opportunity for them to share their opinion by asking what do you like and by saying it's my first time it gives them the opportunity to earn a tip from me not just being entitled for one when I'm ordering my food. The place inside, very old-school deli Field, you can sit at the bar you can sit outside or you can sit inside. It's very very nice. I really like that classic feel a bit which is really cool. My sandwich: my sandwich was I would say maybe a solid 6 1/2 to a seven. It's something that has to be dipped, but you normally aren't going to dip something that has avocado on it. But the dip is what added flavor to the meat, kind of. I really love the bread, the bread is surprisingly soft. When you get a big bite like that and the bread just kind of melts in your mouth that I do have to say it was very impressive. I forget the name of my wife's sandwich, but she absolutely loved it and said it was exactly what she wanted, very, very simple, nothing too complicated and so she was very happy Overall, I've had a lot of sandwiches, I am a major sandwich person and so I am going to be a little bit more critical when it comes to having a menu that has a bunch of items with flavor because that is what's gonna win me over. Would we go back to here yes, would we come back here before trying somewhere else first that's a little bit up in the air. Overall, I definitely still recommend giving this place a try.
