Nice enough place, clean, staff super attentive but the food was horrible. 40$ for eggs Benedict, side of biscuits and gravy and a coffee. The hollandaise sauce on the eggs was basically melted butter, zero flavor and was clumpy in texture. Eggs were overcooked. I took a single bite of the biscuits and gravy - the gravy had zero flavor, super gritty - tasted like cream and flour. The biscuit by itself was also not good. Great brunch! Tons of options. I went with the Eggs Benedict as it's been a while since I've had them. Mine were cooked perfectly. Someone else at my table had one of theirs a little over poached and the yoke was hard. Tastes was still there though. The blueberry pancakes looked amazing as did the breakfast burrito. Having moved to Calle Real, Sunshine Cafe has become one of my favorite breakfast sandwich places in Santa Barbara! The breakfast sandwich on sourdough so so good. Getting the eggs over medium makes a great combo with their home potatoes. The service is always amazing and is willing to go the extra mile. My favorite part about the meal is the bacon. It's so crunchy but chewy and incredibly flavorful. Getting a booth inside is very nice but sitting in on the high chairs is very reminiscent of an old school diner. We haven't been to this restaurant in over a year. We were greeted promptly and asked if we wanted to wait for a booth which we did. They were very good about cleaning up the booth and the floor beneath. Right away I was offered coffee water got both. My husband and I both had the chili Verde omelette. He likes his little spicier so they brought him some stuff to add. He got potatoes and I got fruit and then we split. He got an English muffin and I got the wheat toast, which was excellent. Also, the coffee was hot and good. Manuel was our server he and everybody there was very attentive. When it's such good service and a holiday, I tend to tip better than usual. Stopped in for a Saturday morning breakfast after a long Friday night and we were really impressed! Seated right away and quick, friendly service. Very clean interior and nice amount of seating for the relatively small space including lots of counter seats. The French toast was really good, not soggy at all and not overpowered with cinnamon flavor which are issues I've had elsewhere. The cheese omelette was basic but executed well. I came here with my family on a Saturday morning before heading out to the beach. The restaurant was a bit packed but we also did not have to wait for a table. Service was on point. The staff was super friendly and very attentive which I like. Food was good but wasn't the best I had. I ordered the Steak & Eggs and my husband got the Country Fried Steak & Eggs. I asked for medium rare for my steak but it ended up being a little overcooked but still good. I probably enjoyed my husband's Country Fried Steak more. After a night at a nearby campground I stopped in before heading home and I'm so glad I did. Our party ordered a cheese omelette, cinnamon roll French toast and I myself had the regular French toast combo (4 pieces) light and fluffy, that came with 2 eggs, 2 bacon (or sausage) and it was good! If you're looking for a good brunch place away from the "touristy" areas in SB, then I recommend checking this place out. My husband ordered the pork chop and eggs, whereas I ordered country fried steak and eggs. The country fried steak was really delicious, the hash browns were good, though I just wish they had more of the delicious gravy for my chicken steak! The restaurant was clean and the service was friendly, which made for a pleasant start. Unfortunately, the main dishes didn't hold up. The chicken Caesar wrap was poorly assembled, fell apart when touched, and not grilled like the menu photo. It was generally bland and unenjoyable. The side of fruit wasn't worth the extra charge, lacking freshness and quality. The chicken and waffle was similarly underwhelming. The caramel butter stood out as exceptional but the chicken tasted old and overcooked, and the battering--while tasting ok--was hard. Like armor keeping you from the overcooked chicken. I had to send back my eggs to get them right, but once fixed, they were great. Overall, a few bright spots, but the core meals missed the mark by a lot. New to the area so we thought we'd try Sunshine Cafe. My wife had a half side of bacon and asked for it to be on the limp side (not overcooked). She received two pieces of charred bacon. She wasn't going to complain but took one bite and nicely asked the waiter to return and replace with what she asked for. The waiter returned with one piece of bacon - I guess because she took one bite out of the bacon char. We actually laughed about it. They sure showed us! My husband ordered the breakfast burrito which had no meat and just seemed slapped together with some beans and eggs. My rosemary breakfast potatoes had no rosemary at all and were just unseasoned potatoes with raw green onion diced over the top. Our daughter's kids' breakfast burrito had hardly any eggs, no meat, and the cheese wasn't even melted in the burrito. The side of bacon was unevenly cut with pieces that looked like whole ham. Our older son ordered the cinnamon roll French toast, which was good. Overall, though, we would not recommend this place for the disappointing food. My husband and I went to SB Sunshine Cafe a year ago, and I wrote a 4-star review then. This time the food was excellent; my husband had the breakfast burrito which he really enjoyed, and I had the cinnamon swirl French toast with bacon and eggs. Wow, it was really good! This time the syrup was not cold and watery, but tasty (still not warm, but better this time). Also, the music, if there even was any this time, was quiet, so we could enjoy conversation, a real plus! Service was exceptional. We felt very welcomed throughout our meal. Very nice. In our opinion, the beautiful photographs on the wall still should be lowered a foot or so, to about 6" above the "chair rail". I noticed that I, and others, had to crane our heads back to look at the nice photography, ending up mostly looking at the ceiling ductwork. Seated right away, they took our drink order as soon as we sat down. Our waiter was friendly and gave good details about the food questions we had since it was our first time here. Coffee was basic coffee, nothing special, vanilla latte was good. Not too sweet or strong. Chilaquiles were crunchy and good flavor, not spicy. The cinnamon roll French toast were delicious. Lots of cinnamon flavor, good coating and sweetness. Omelette was a little disappointing , it was diced veggies and ham with egg over it. Usually the veggies are wrapped in the middle of the egg. We stopped off at Sunshine Cafe for Sunday breakfast. The servers were all friendly and quick with our service which was great. Food was pretty good, although I wish they would have given a bit more syrup for the chicken and waffles. It was a bit loud but not unreasonable since the place was packed for a Sunday morning. The only downside to the place was the smell inside. They either need to have their grease trap cleaned or the plumbing ventilation needs to be checked as their was a sewer odor in the restaurant. We got the chorizo burrito which was lopsided with chorizo all on one side and potato all on the other. The fruit was fresh and delicious. Our friends got the California scramble which they enjoyed.
