Sat outside which was nice, but took a while for someone to come and bring me water and take my order. The food though, even more sad. Crawfish etouffee - 2/10 The crawfish tasted extremely fishy. The crawfish pieces themselves were way too large, and very very chewy. Sad excuse for an etouffee. If you ever go to New Orleans and get real Cajun food, go to Deanie's Seafood Restaurant and get yourself a crawfish etouffee there, that one is impeccable. Don't get this here. The side of cornbread was equally sad. Beignets - 2.5/10 Equally sad. More like fried dough balls than proper beignets. Not flaky whatsoever. If you're ever in the south/southeast and want good beignets, go to PJ's coffee (they know how to make them well). Don't get it here. Beignets were around $10 and etouffee was just under $20. Came out to roughly a $35 bill or so. Not worth it, would not come here again if I'm looking for good Cajun food. read more

Popped in with the fam for Sunday brunch. Crowded but we were seated without a long wait. Ordered the beignets, jambalaya, crab cakes eggs Benedict and chicken fried steak. First off, service was attentive and friendly. It's a well oiled machine and their staff works efficiently. I never had an empty water glass and we were repeatedly checked on by different staff. Now onto the food, crab cakes eggs eggs Benedict and jambalaya was pretty good and a little spicy. Good portions. If you have eaten a beignet before, then this is not it. It is a biscuit disguised to look like a beignet. Not crispy or fluffy inside. Pass. (If you have never had a beignet, then you won't know the difference bc many people like it and it's a different kind of pastry. It's just not typically what a beignet tastes or feels like.) As for the chicken fried steak, it also looked like it should but it wasn't crispy and the gravy was bland. Could use a lot more flavor (maybe just more salt and pepper?). Biscuit on the side was nice and fluffy. We liked it with the side of soft butter. Overall, a good experience and there were just a few misses. Found this little Gem on Yelp, didn't realize it was a chain. But we weren't disappointed. Place was clean and neat, the wait staff were kind and insightful on the food choices. We did have to wait a bit for coffee refills, but no problem, it happens. I ordered the Fried chicken Benedict, and it was the tastiest meal I've eaten in a while. It was so nice getting to see what the renovations looked like and was really surprised on how open the front is now! We were greeted right away, ordered, and our food came out in less than 10 minutes! I ordered their chilaquiles colorados and my partner ordered a yogurt parfait with a side of eggs. Several locations in the area, this one is a non-fancy one located at the end of a mini-mall. Not much to it, diner-like, with an ample outdoor patio. Went here for brunch before my brother's college commencement. The food was pretty good -- I had the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were a bit doughy for my taste, or at least not moist enough from the gravy. Our issue came from an order mixup that was due to the waitress but the Blake was out on us. My brother ordered the Cajun Scramble but was given the Veggie scramble. The waitress said she heard Veggie, not Cajun -- fairly reasonable given the loud volume of the restaurant space I suppose. However, she never used that practice of repeating everyone's orders so we couldn't verify she heard what my brother ordered. She the kitchen is too busy to make the Cajun instead and we were running out of time ourselves to make it to my brother's check-in for the event. Thankfully she at least brought out two spicy sausages (even though my brother didn't end up eating the scramble at all and my sister and I were super willing to split our meals with him). Let me start with the bad, I ordered their French dip. The meat was incredibly dry, like it had been sitting awhile. Naybe they were trying to make beef jerkey. Even with the aujou. It did not help, really a disappointment for me. I do think this may have been a one off. Because for the remainder of the food we had (party of four) everybody lived their food. My wife and daughter had the breakfast dishes. They said it was delicious and they enjoyed it very much. Everything was cooked to order. The eggs were fresh. The bacon was crispy. You couldn't ask for a better dish. My son ordered the chicken sandwich, which he said was very tasty. Crispy batter and the chicken was well seasoned. The restaurant is in a small strip mall. Fair amount of people walking in but still felt very homely. Nice, relaxed atmosphere. Nice place to eat definitely will return. When we go to visit our daughter at UCSB? I will always recommend the Cajun Kitchen! I am a creature of habit and my go to here is always the shrimp and grits. This is the kind of place where you can come to dine alone and walk out with friends. Cajun kitchen has been around as long as I have lived in Santa Barbara which is many decades and it is still as good today as it was back in the 90s. The servers make you feel like you're the only one in the packed restaurant. First time eating here and I loved it. Arrived at 10am for breakfast and was seated at the bar, which was fine. My husband and I chose to split an order of veggie omelet, potatoes and gluten free Belgium waffle. We were very pleased that they served us our food already split onto two plates. Tomatoey, spicy and luscious with the yummy and runny egg yolks were delicious. Add the moist cornbread to soak it all up, and it was one of the best brunch dishes I've had in quite a while, but then we had the Crabcake Benedict and Cajun-style Huevos Rancheros. - Crabcake Benedict was AMAZING! Tasty, rich, crispy crab filled crabcakes with perfectly poached eggs and creamy hollandaise luscious and delicious (can't wait to have again). - Huevos Rancheros are amazing. I have never tried beignets before so this was my first time getting them. They came out super fresh and hot and were pretty soft while being crunchy on the outside. It seemed like they were put in the box and powdered after because there were bits of beignets that were not covered in powdered sugar. I went with someone who had the Disneyland beignets and they said the Disneyland ones were 10 times better. For me, it was pretty solid but could be improved. Another couple arrived 10 minutes after us and the incompetent hostess seated them right away without checking the waitlist. We've been eating here every Sunday for years. We wanted a table for 2, so she put our name on the waitlist and said it would be 20 minutes. So we patiently waited. This other couple arrived and asked us if we were waiting for a table and we said yes. So they went to the hostess to put their name on the list and she just went ahead and seated them. When she came back I asked why they were seated first. We had been waiting. There were still 2 empty tables outside so we asked if we could be seated out there and she said no, they were expecting a large party and needed the tables. "But you just seated that couple outside and they weren't even on the waitlist." I told her. She didn't know what to do, so she found a busboy who told us that he would see what he could do. He said they weren't seating anyone outside because of the big group waiting. I asked why they let the other couple sit outside and cut in line. He said there wasn't anything he could do. We know all the wait staff there and they are great. But the incompetent hostess and busboy were clearly not cut out for working here. Terrible customer service and very rude. We're in our fifties and come here every Sunday, but if they don't train the new people then they're going to lose a lot of business from their regular customers. read more

Yum! Was visiting my daughter at UCSB this weekend and wanted to finish off with a nice breakfast before heading home and this one seemed to stand out. Amazing breakfast menu selection and a variety of coffee, beverages, etc...and of course as the name suggests, Cajun food. I decided to go with the classic eggs Benedict as that's my measuring stick for the quality of breakfast faire at any restaurant. Definitely a solid albeit basic bene but more than satisfying. Service was fast and friendly and the atmosphere was well....a nice cafeteria/cafe. If you're looking for a solid breakfast restaurant in Goleta I give this one my thumbs up. read more

We arrived with a party of 6 on Saturday morning around 11 am and surprisingly only had to wait about 10 minutes (given it was the weekend before Finals week). Go ahead and write your party's name on the sheet on the stand outside their doors! There isn't always someone manning it but there's a sign instructing guests to do so next to it. We were sat outside and the service was pretty fast between ordering food and getting the food! We ordered a plate of the original beignets for the table (yum!!!) and my boyfriend and I ordered the berries and cream waffle and french quarter omelette to split. The portions were quite large and we all left feeling very full. Flavor was on point for everything! The french omelette's hot sausage has a little bit of a kick- but it's so good paired with the egg, avocado, and cheese.... This is a great low priced option for a breakfast/brunch in Goleta! The location screams old school diner vibes with the cute booths and wall decor, and the menu has a ton of different options, including a majority of the typical American breakfast items. Today my friend and I opted for the Chile Verde Breakfast Classic and the Fried Chicken and Waffle. The chile verde dish was suuuper tasty, with a huge serving that came with crispy hash browns and your standard diner style eggs. I would definitely recommend this for a filling affordable breakfast! I have to take a star off for the chicken and waffles dish, which unfortunately fell short when it came to the chicken! The waffles were the perfect ratio between crispy and fluffy, and I just love a nice thick whipped cream and soft spreadable butter with my waffles, Cajun Kitchen definitely delivered on that end! However, the crispy crunchy batter fried skin of the chicken was hiding a floury undercooked dredge for our brunch today, unsure if thats an intentional twist to their version of chicken and waffles or if it was just undercooked chicken but it was slightly off putting floury taste for me, so I'm not sure if I could recommend that. We ordered some food from Cajun Kitchen Cafe recently and overall, it was pretty good and I wouldn't hesitate to order from them again (or eat in person) next time we're in the area. We had the chorizo breakfast burrito and it was absolutely massive - more food than two people could reasonably eat for breakfast. It had a nice mix of scrambled eggs, chorizo, and potatoes, and everything was nicely (and tightly) wrapped and very easy to eat. I only wish they included more than one salsa and provided some options for choosing the spiciness level (we like things spicy and everything was pretty mild). Lastly, we also got the beignets because we wanted something sweet after the burrito. The beignets were okay - certainly not of the same caliber as Cafe du Monde, for example, but were fine. We'd probably not order them again. But that breakfast burrito - it was so good, and so massive - you simply can't go wrong ordering it. In terms of the order packing - everything was put together well. I think for fried foods (like the beignets), it's best to have some vent holes to prevent the food from going soggy so that's an improvement they could make. Also, no utentils were included in the packaging. We thought we may have missed a DoorDash option to include it so we went back to the app and there isn't an option at all. I understand wanting to reduce plastic waste and/or cut costs, but it would be really nice to ask if orders require utensils. read more
