Love the variety of food options and cozy cafe vibe this place has to offer. I ordered Roz's omelete with cornbread and it was the best thing we ordered. It was super flavorful and portion was generous. We also ordered the french dip sandwhich and linguica plate which were ok, but nothing special. Service was also ok as it took a very long time to get out order taken and then the check whe we were done with our meal. Worst gumbo I've ever had in my life. Menu said they had seafood gumbo. This was shredded beef. Broth was horrible.

Food was good, grits were creamy with butter, but needed seasoning. The Apple Honey sausage was delicious! The servers were friendly and checked on us regularly and were on top of coffee refills. The restaurant was neat and cozy. read more

The breakfast burritos are out of this world. I call in early quite often and order a breakfast burrito to be picked up. The staff is always extremely friendly. The prices are literally amazing. And the portions are enough to save some for later if need be!!! The restaurant is always very clean and you can tell they have a nice group of regulars that come in very often. Let me just start by saying, if Cajun Kitchen doesn't win some kind of award for "Best All-Around Vibes in Lompoc," then I will personally take to the streets in protest. The staff here is unreal. I don't know if their contracts include mandatory nail salon appointments, but every server is rocking immaculate nails that could double as art installations. Seriously, their manicures could put a Kardashian to shame. Oh, and they're insanely nice too! Like, "I'll smile at you until you forget everything that's wrong with your life" nice. They go above and beyond, making you feel like family in a way that's charming and not weirdly invasive. The food? Consistently. Good. Like, "how-is-this-level-of-quality-not-illegal" good. Everything is cooked to order, piping hot, and seasoned so perfectly that even your ancestors would nod in approval. You know how a lot of restaurants these days think "consistency" is a dirty word? Not here. Whether you're diving into the gumbo, pieces of steak, pancakes, or some gloriously greasy hash browns, you know it's going to slap every time. My wife and I recently went vegetarian/vegan and they STILL have options for us that are cooked to perfection every time. Price-wise, it's decent for what you're getting--and trust me, what you're getting is nothing short of edible excellence. You could probably spend less at a fast-food drive-thru, but then you'd have to live with the knowledge that you actively chose sadness over happiness. And let's talk about the atmosphere! Cajun Kitchen has this cute old school 50s diner vibe going on, complete with a crowd of crotchety but cordial old folks that make you half expect a milkshake and a jukebox fight to break out. It's cozy, it's kitschy, and it's impossible not to feel at home when you're here. Final verdict: If you haven't been to Cajun Kitchen, I don't know what you're doing with your life, but it's probably not as good as what's happening inside this restaurant. For the good, the servers were awesome and kind, that's where the good ends. As far as food goes I ordered the "Cajun Combo" which is the gumbo and red beans and rice. The "Gumbo" was a watery slightly spiced soup with rice, the shedded chicken in it was flavorless but the andouille helped a bit. I took a single bite of the red beans and rice and proceeded to ignore the plate. I hate wasting food but I honestly wouldn't feed either to pigs on a farm. read more

Yesterday was my first visit to Cajun Kitchen. Choices for breakfast seem slim in Lompoc. The people were very friendly and the place was clean and homey. The portions are huge! We teed the biscuits and gravy which was delicious. The gravy is made with both bacon and sausage. The breakfast burrito is big enough for two people. We even tried blueberry pancakes and the re were so many blueberries not one or two. Great job! I must mention the potatoes. I got them crispy and it totally changed how I love potatoes. Cajun cooking was started by the French who settled Acadia, a region in Canada, but got kicked out by the British in the French & Indian War. Many of the Cajuns moved to Louisiana to settle and used local ingredients which may not have been available in Canada. The French Créole are French citizens born in French colonies such as Louisiana. Later African Americans in Louisiana also referred themselves as Créole. Créoles also based their cookIng on French cuisine although it may primarily have been inspired by Île de France. For a while one could generalize and say that Cajun was more about country cooking while Créole was more citified. However, since both groups have lived in the same region for 250 years, there has been quite a bit of cultural diffusion to the point it is sometimes difficult to distinguish between the two cuisines. Cajun Kitchen Café is conveniently right next to a bank atm in a ubiquitous, nondescript shopping center. Outdoor patio dining during the Pandemic. Prepare to wait for a table at this well frequented eatery. We went for Sunday lunch around 11:30am. Our waitress and supporting staff were friendly, accommodating, and responsive making sure my ice tea was full on the hottest day of summer. The food once ordered came out quickly. 1) Beignets came out soft, sweet, and pillowy with the outer layer having a dryer bread texture dusted with white, powder sugar.  Mini pitcher of maple syrup. 2) Corn Bread is standard. Bit mealy, soft, moist. Not much of corn fragrance. Whipped butter. The Apple Butter which is thick, caramelized, smooth, sweet was a great marriage to the corn bread. 3) Jamalaya is Créole Jambalaya with red tomato & spice infused, hint of piquant chile , thickened sauce. Plump Shrimp kissed by moist, ocean sweetness. Cubes of meaty, smoky Andouille sausage along with chicken & ham. White rice thickens as well as acting as a bland counter to all the spiciness. A sprinkling of Tony Chachere's Louisiana Pepper Sauce will kick it up a notch. 4) Unsweetened brown tea is just ok. Is it the local, lackluster water or a mediocre tea mix or both? There may be better Cajun-Créole cuisine, but this is good food for a small, agricultural California town thousands of miles from Nouvelle Orléans. 3+ stars. The Cajun Kitchen always delivers on flavor, quality, and hospitality. I used to live in Santa Barbara and would visit 2-3 times a week, always craving certain dishes. There was a blackened prime rib sandwich they had for a while--it was so amazing, I think there was a period when I went every day just to keep it from ending. Their blackened chicken and eggs for breakfast? Not bad at all. Everything on the Creole menu is excellent, and their gravy is off the charts--perfect! I love southern gravy, so I know what I'm talking about. The staff there is fantastic, too. They genuinely seem to enjoy their work, and that vibe is reflected in both the service and the food. Recently, I was in Lompoc, and I hadn't been to The Cajun Kitchen in over five years since I moved away from Santa Barbara. As I drove down H Street, I saw it and thought, oh I could use a little taste of home." so I stopped in for breakfast and it did not disappoint. Everything was excellent, from the food to the service. The staff was incredibly friendly, just a great experience. In a world where so much changes over time, it was refreshing to find that some things stay the same. If you're in the area, go enjoy the food and the people. Consistently great food and service. We come here for break fast a few times a month and it is by far the best break fast diner in Lompoc. They have thee BEST pancakes, waffles, scrambles and French toast. Chicken fried steak is also great and the kids Mickey Mouse pancakes are so cute. Also love a restaurant that offers breakfast fast AND lunch all day. Annoying when restaurants only offer things at certain times. So awesome you can get both menus all morning long. My friend and I came here for breakfast when we were in town for the weekend. I have family from New Orleans, so I MIGHT be a little judgy when it comes to cajun cooking. It should be bursting with flavor and the best dishes can transport you back to the French quarter in the summertime. That was not the case here, but I get it, it's tough to have that authentic flavor in a small town. A lot of people don't like it. I really wouldn't call this place "Cajun Kitchen Cafe" because it's not truly authentic and most of the menu is not cajun. We started with an order of hush puppies and bloody Marys. For breakfast I ordered the jambalaya with eggs (I asked for poached), served with cornbread & apple butter. My friend ordered the blackened catfish with eggs and grits. Overall, the food was pretty bland, but again, I expect big flavor, especially with jambalaya. Sadly, it was pretty bland and very soupy for jambalaya. I did love the poached eggs. The catfish wasn't really "blackened" and didn't have much flavor, but it was okay. The Bloody Mary just tasted like tomato juice and was pretty weak. Luckily, there was plenty of the Tony's cajun spice blend and hot sauce on the table to help them out the food and blood mary. There were two things that I loved--the hushpuppies and the apple butter. The hushpuppies were a nice pop-in-your-mouth size and would super crispy. They were flavorful and delicious. Next, the apple butter that was served with the cornbread--not remotely cajun but delicious!! It tasted exactly like the apple butter my Norwegian grandmother used to make when I was a kid--and I was so so happy. I almost bought a tub of it to take home, but its a long car drive and any week now I'm going to start a diet. For a regular breakfast spot, it's not bad, but if you thrown cajun in the name of the restaurant, I'm going to have expectations. It's really more of a "cajun nod" cafe. Service was friendly and attentive, the restaurant was clean, and the wait was pretty short--we waited about 5 minutes. I'd eat here again, but probably just go with a typical breakfast, other than ordering the hushpuppies. I will also smother everything in apple butter. read more

I've eaten at this restaurant before with no problems but last week I took my family there and the eggs were actually slimy (raw whites) and not cooked to order(over easy) The waitress told me that it was how they made ''over easy'' eggs so I declined another plate of food to be made and asked for a credit as I didn't eat any of it., but when I went to pay for the food they made me pay for it anyway and I was told that if I didn't like it I shouldn't have ordered it. What?? We won't be returning to this business in the future. Unprofessional/rude. Next time we go to The Hilton...they have the best food in Lompoc. read more

We were in town and this was the closest restaurant to our hotel. I'm so glad we came here. The bisquits and corn bread are absolutely wonderful and try the apple butter on either one, you won't be disappointed. Saw a huge line outside this establishment and as a smart person, concluded that this restaurant was delicious and joined the wait. Got the jambalaya, shrimp étouffée, and california salad. NOTE: the jambalaya and the shrimp étouffée were quite similar, but the shrimp étouffée was creamier, spicer, and in my opinion, tastier than the jambalaya. Large portions, 3 items were enough to feed 4. We ordered cornbread and a biscuit to go with our meal, and they were both so fluffy and delicious!! Not what it used to be. Last few times we've ordered out from here over a few months the fries have been cheap and soggy. The amazing muffins they used to have now seem to be made with something different and are so over done they were inedible. Cajun Kitchen in Lompoc has become a Sunday staple when I visit my parents for the weekend. They have everything that you would look for in a breakfast and lunch spot. Great customer service, delicious food, and huge variety of Cajun and American dishes to choose from. The hardest part for me is figuring out what to order since everything I have tried I have enjoyed. The jambalaya, chicken fried steak, and the veggie scramble are some of my favorites.
