    Shrimp Po'Boy

The food was amazing! I had the shrimp Po'Boy and my daughter had the 2pc Fried Chicken (Leg & Wing) with macaroni and cheese and corn bread. The service was fantastic, was a husband, wife and daughter operation and they were down right hospitable. The ambience was average but they did have an area for live music, which they said they have on the weekends! A must try and I will definitely be back to try some gator and gumbo!!

I ordered the gumbo. It's a complete different type of gumbo that I'm used too. This one is more soupy. Watery and honestly, I didn't even know if I like it or not. It has some meat, sausages and crab legs, some shredded chicken meat mixed with the rice and the soup. No okra, No beans, not spicy at all. Grayish watery gumbo. On the side, I was given like a tapatio kind of spicy sauce. The other one that I got is shrimp creole. NOW.... This is yummy. More like the gumbo that I frequent. Thick stew, shrimp, perfect spice. Love this!. Staff are super kind and friendly. Extra star for them. I'm coming back for more Shrimp creole!!

Everything we got was so delicious, we are already planning to come back to try more of their menu. On top of the yummy food, the hospitality made us feel like family. Definitely a must try!!

I was in town and trying to figure out where to eat and I'm happy I remembered I haven't had a Po'boy in a while from Cajun Country Cafe. The food is made when we ordered it, fresh. We ordered the catfish salad and a shrimp Po'boy along with peach cobbler and ice cream for dessert. Everything was delicious! Portion sizes were good and I feel that they were generous (always have been) with the shrimp and catfish for the salad. We love this place. The staff was friendly and upbeat. I haven't been here in a while and it's great to see the seating area has expanded. There is also a stage for live music.

First time trying Cajun Country Cafe. Definitely did not know what to order for dinner. The two men were very friendly & patient with us. They let us take as much time as we needed to study the menu lol. Tried the combination dinner w/ Catfish, Red Snapper & Shrimp. So good! The sides were great too. I tried these & liked them all: collard greens, red beans & rice, Mac & Cheese, even the potato salad. We devoured the cornbread & fried chicken. Ordered Gumbo To Go. It was salty for my liking. I added more rice to it, to help with the saltiness & to soak up the soup. Felt welcomed, had Great service here & great recommendations. I would definitely come back & try more. Will try to visit again sometime soon.

It smelled so good from the moment you walk in due to the food. They are very welcoming, kind and can help you if you aren't sure what to order. The food speaks for itself, jam packed with flavor and depth that go well separately or together . A go to for fried chicken, mac and cheese, as well as collard greens.

As a New Orleans native who's been searching for a taste of home since moving to California, I've found that most places outside Louisiana claiming to serve Cajun food try but often miss the mark. Cajun Country Cafe, however, gets it just right. I was pleased to learn that the owner is from New Orleans and his wife is from Natchitoches, Louisiana. Their recipes are over 100 years old. The interior feels like a cozy mom-and-pop shop you'd find back in New Orleans, with a welcoming vibe that matches the flavor of the food. I ordered the catfish plate with red beans and collard greens. The catfish was cooked perfectly--crispy and flavorful breading on the outside, moist and flaky inside. The red beans were a pleasant surprise, with a nice spice level that reminded me of home. They were tender, with that smoky flavor you expect on a Monday in New Orleans--if you know, you know. The collard greens were also tender and well-seasoned. I took a shrimp po'boy to go, along with a bowl of gumbo. The po'boy was good, even though it wasn't on traditional French bread. That specific bread is hard to replicate outside New Orleans due to the local environment, so I can't fault them for it. The gumbo was the only item that didn't impress me. I enjoy spicy food, but the black pepper was overpowering and masked the other flavors for my taste. There's a stage inside where they sometimes have live music. If this place were back home in New Orleans, I'd be a regular. I highly recommend giving it a try if you're looking for something with real New Orleans flair. The owners are wonderful and make you feel like you're being served a meal from their own kitchen. I'm looking forward to trying the fried chicken and boudin menu items when I return. Happy to have found this little gem.

If you're craving Cajun-style dishes in Oxnard, this is the spot to visit. It might be the only one in town, but the food is absolutely amazing. I've been here multiple times, and every dish I've tried has been fantastic. On my latest visit, I had the sausage Po'Boy, and it was delicious. My wife ordered the grilled chicken Po'Boy, and she loved it too. We also got potato salad, hush puppies, and gumbo rice on the side--all excellent. Other standout dishes I've enjoyed here include the wings and fried chicken. And don't miss the cornbread; it's heavenly. The staff is wonderful--very friendly and welcoming. I also appreciate that they take phone orders, which is super convenient. The location is decent, tucked away in a corner of a plaza at Ventura and 5th Street. If it were at the Collection, I bet it would be even more popular. Regardless, I'm just happy to have this place around and will definitely be a loyal customer for years to come.

Was hanging around Hollywood Beach and searched copilot for a fried fish sandwich didn't realize how difficult it would be to find one so I settled for this place which was very hard to find in a very quiet and somewhat lifeless shopping corner. I went inside it was around 2:00 and it was empty. The co owner whose name I believe was Vince greeted me and was very helpful. I decided to eat a fried catfish sandwich with liquid red hot sauce on the side. The sandwich was a pretty good portion on a pillowy inside toasted sourdough roll. Came out in about 20 minutes thoroughly enjoyed it. They have a rather large than diverse menu but I was fixated on a fried sandwich from the sea and this hit the spot. Will be back to try other stuff. Also told me that there's live music on the weekends at night.

The food was great and the owners I presume were super friendly and personable. Unfortunately they forgot one of my sides from the catfish dinner I had ordered so that was a bit disappointing. I was really craving Mac and cheese!!! I didn't bother calling them because I was already on my way home to LA and I couldn't go back to pick it up for them to fix anyways so that's that. Other than that I would have probably given it 5 stars?

Yummmmmy I'd rate this higher if I could, a mom and pop authentic NOLA delight Great service ! Owners are sweethearts and the ambiance transports you to Nawlins They got a little stage inside and they said they do live music on Saturdays 7-9:30 pm

I'm a self-admitted BBQ purist, impartial to NC BBQ, but have also had some of the best BBQ in TX (Terry Blacks, Goldees, and Franklin), and this is simply not TX BBQ. The restaurant is situated off the beaten path in the business district, but it's impossible to miss with the huge smoker sitting out front. It's a small restaurant with just a few tables and the ordering situation is a bit wonky (just one small window to order and pickup from). The staff was ultra-friendly and the food came out quick. As for the food, it was just okay... The BBQ itself wasn't bad, but it was definitely precut and kept in warmers (this would give a pit master down in TX a myocardial infarction as this is a huge "no no"); the sides were actually really good though. The total was about $30 for lunch, which to me was a bit high based on the quality of the BBQ. Overall... Not bad, not great, but not certainly TX BBQ.

The food quality was also outstanding. Everything tasted fresh, well-seasoned, and clearly made with care. It's easy to see why this place has such a loyal following. That said, I do want to offer some respectful feedback about the decor. While I understand the restaurant leans into vintage and Southern-inspired themes, one of the large photographs on the wall appears to depict a pre-Civil Rights era social gathering with an all-white crowd. Given the historical context of that time period, imagery like that can feel uncomfortable or exclusionary to some guests, even if that wasn't the intention. I share this feedback not to criticize the restaurant's values, but to encourage thoughtful consideration of how historical imagery is experienced by a diverse customer base. The excellent food and service create a welcoming atmosphere, and updating decor choices to reflect more inclusive or culturally representative imagery could make that experience even stronger. Overall, I truly enjoyed the meal and the service, and I hope this feedback is taken in the constructive spirit in which it's offered.
