I am very sad having to write this review as I have never been disappointed with their food. But... as a trusted Elite Reviewer I am compelled to be fair on ALL my reviews, not just positive ones. I chose Mulligsn's for their incredible baby back ribs. But when my friendand I saw they had a prime rib special, neither of us could resist. When we were served, my jaw dropped to the floor. You will see by the pictures, that it was half fat!!!! We had to ask for an extra side plate to put the fat on. It took me a long time to cut it all out and off. By then, my food was cold. Thinking back, I should have refused it at $33.99! Darn. The baked potato had about a teaspoon of sour cream. The wait staff was so busy we didn't ask for more. The best part of dinner was their banana cream pie. Yum. I filled up a to-go box with the fat and gave it to two gentlemen for their doggies. At least THEY enjoyed it! I hope you have a strong stomach when you see the plate of fat. My friend and I both agreed we would never order that again! We were so disappointed. It was actually nauseating. I'm always delighted when a breakfast place gets the order of "eggs over medium" correct. I find jiggly whites absolutely gross, so when they're cooked through but the yolk isn't, that's a huge win. The waitress was nice to put on sports for my husband in place of the shopping network or whatever other drivel was on TV. read more

We ordered through DoorDash. Not only was our order incorrect but it looked and tasted terrible. I ordered cheese enchiladas and received meat. I bit into it and almost threw up. The one star is for the beautiful view of the expansive green of the golf course. What a jewel of Santa Barbara! . However, I must say the encounter with the woman who stated she was the manager was the worse I've ever experienced. I met with my group of older mostly retired nurse friends for an anticipated festive event. This manager had created an altercation with one of our group members that escalated to her saying "if you don't like it then you can just "f......" leave. Then proceeded to take our drink orders! Horrible experience with the new owner/manager yesterday morning with our group of 8 professional older women. My friend asked the manager to have tables moved together (the restaurant was empty except one other party). The owner proceeded to drop the f-bomb to my friend, and then repeated it when I incredulously asked what she just said. She acted as if she could say anything because she was the manager. I've been going to Mulligans for a monthly club meeting in the evening for happy hour or dinner and am pleased each time. I crave the sweet potato fries, any of the pies, the ahi tuna salad, and the grilled salmon salad. Staff are quite friendly and service is quick. Lots of happy hour drink and appetizer options. The best part are the views outside. Whether it is sunset or simply the golf course and ocean in the far away view, it never disappoints to relax my brain. I ordered a spicy avocado burger to go and came home to find that I got only a cheeseburger burger! I paid an extra $5 dollars for a burger I didn't get and I also paid tip.....ugh wasted money! And every cent counts with inflation these days so right now I'm pretty upset and don't want to drive back and waste gas either. Been here a couple of times now. Honestly, I cannot recommend this place. Most recently, I ordered the spicy avocado burger with fries and tots. The burger had no avacado on it. The beef patty had zero seasoning, and was way, way overdone as I ordered medium. (I typically order medium versus medium-rare at places I don't have much faith in). Onion slices were as thick as the meat patty itself. I've made much tastier burgers at home following a recipe from hello fresh. For 20 bucks that they ask for a burger, I would expect a perfectly cooked, well seasoned and well-assembled burger, none of which I got. It honestly tasted like they used a frozen patty. Then there was the bottom bun which was soaking wet from I don't know what. On top of all that, we mentioned to two different servers that it was my grandmother's birthday and she specifically wanted to come to Mulligan's since she goes there all the time (why, I have no idea, I guess she likes looking at the greens outside) Despite all that, no cake or scoop of ice cream or anything was offered for her. I understand they aren't obligated to hand out a free dessert, but it's pretty common even at fine dining establishments all the way down to your cheapo chain restaraunts to show some appreciation that you are celebrating an occasion. The previous meal I had before the aforementioned burger I had ordered the grilled salmon and rice pilaf. The salon was.... okay... it was overdone and a little dry, but seasoned okay. The rice looked like it came out of a bag in the frozen section of the grocery store that you microwave to steam cook. Either that or it looked like what you would expect on a hospital tray for lunch, or school cafeteria. ZERO seasoning. The only redeeming quality of this place in my opinion is that it would be convenient if you happen to be playing a round of golf on the course. Also, the service is generally okay if you disregard the lack of dessert for my dear grandmas birthday. I honestly don't know why some of my family likes this place. read more

Food was good; everyone happy, from the Mexican combo plates with enchiladas, tacos to battered shrimp and salmon, fish and chips, it was all good, well served and reasonably priced. A portion of the restaurant is still closed off, perhaps for lack of staff, so you might want to make a reservation if you have a seating preference (terrace or inside). Parking is ample, atmosphere relaxed and family-friendly. Notably, most entrees are available with Senior options at a savings...but, honestly, I still took home half the only-slightly smaller meal. read more

Food is great, the ambience is good. This review is on the waitresses. The family waitresses and the one in charge of catering particularly are either rushed to the point of feeling dismissed or short. It definitely takes away from eating there. I have family and friends that will not return because of their attitude. There is also a blonde waitress the follows the family suit. The one in charge of catering definitely is very unfriendly. In fact she has a dead pan look. You ask for something and her responses are short but oh that deadpan look and response gives me a chill. We are your customer it would not hurt to be friendlier and smile. I also know that we are being watched to make sure we do not take too much food. At times they do have quite a bit left and when I asked for a box one time they said no. I asked why and they she said (with a dead pan look) leftovers are used to serve the rest of the day. I skulked away feeling bad for even asking. There are wonderful friendly waitresses there but it is too bad that the family waitresses are the way they are. It's been rough all Winter to find restaurants that are doing the outside thing well, and Mulligan's is doing it as good as anyone. Seems very 2021 that I'm starting a restaurant review by talking about propane heaters, but such is Covid life. I've actually been here a few times in the last few years, and it's always been solid. Decided to tag along with friends to check out Mulligans and their 25th Anniversary celebration. So much fun. This is a family run restaurant and they have been at it for 25 years now. Even though I was not a regular they welcomed me with open arms. What a wonderful friendly restaurant. The food for the night was fiesta cuisine and everything was delicious. I am sorry to leave this review! I had the crispy chicken tacos. I did not appreciate the dead lettuce! The food was extremely bland. I had to add jalapeños for flavor! We have enjoyed meals here often, this morning Mulligan's failed us, We were happy to see they were busy this morning, however, when we requested a table away from the walkways and crowded walk through to tables, we requested the table just outside of an open area, they refused to seat us there as the area was "closed". Being longtime neighborhood customers with compromised immune systems we were disappointed that they would not accommodate us. We've been coming here for years Happy Hour and Taco Monday. It's one of our favorite happy hour spots with a great patio and an amazing view. And of course the food is amazing. Taco Monday is where it's at FAT tacos for $2!! You can get soft or crispy shells. The crispy shells are fried there, none of these store bought stale shells. They're delicious!! And I believe you can order the tacos with chicken, ground beef, shredded beef and pork. All are delicious options. Also try their margaritas. They're awesome!! Recently we tried their Sunday Buffet while we had family in town. Mulligans did not disappoint!! We got there at 9:30 which seemed to be the perfect time to get there before a HUGE crowd of people showed up. For $16 with $10 bottomless mimosas and bloody Mary's, I can see why it was so popular! Mulligans' brunch had all your typical buffet faire: waffles, pancakes, bacon, eggs, sausage, etc. BUT they also had menudo, posole, enchiladas, chorizo with eggs, Chile verde and even Chile Colorado!!! A new favorite! We've recently decided this is one of our new dinner hangouts. The food is good and plentiful, the prices are good, and the service is excellent. The view can't be beat, unless you're dining at Goleta pier or overpaying for something at the Wharf. They have plenty of heaters and blankets to keep you warm if it's chilly or breezy out. I especially love the "Jonathon's Special Burger," with jack cheese, mushrooms, avocado, and so many sprouts you just about need vice grips to squeeze the sandwich down to a biteable size. Good stuff. Sunday brunch is packed, but overall it disappointed us. The buffet was half empty and cold, though the guy fixing fresh eggs and omelets was friendly and helpful. We've decided to leave Sundays to everyone else, we'll take the other six days instead. read more

We were greeted by a server who sat us down where we were able to see the golf putting greens and the people outside so it was a nice surrounding. Our server Melinda was very busy yet attentive and very pleasant. My wife ordered a Chicken Salad and I had a medium breakfast of toast, two eggs, hash browns and two slices of crisp bacon. We had water with our meals as we both need to drink more water. Here's a good example where the service tips the scale over the food. The food is just good enough which is matched with reasonable pricing. It's a delicate balance of keeping what works vs changing the quality and raising prices. It's a locals hangout which could be why the service staff stays on their toes. But a slight food upgrade could make this a 4 star gem. read more

Well the lady at the front that worked there on 7/17/2020 was completely disrespectful to me and my partner and made me feel like I did not matter. I understand that a lot of rich folks show up here to play their rounds of golf but that kind of treatment is unacceptable. I almost felt racially discriminated against. This place is definitely for the over 60 -- and frankly more for the over 70 crowd. Went the other night, and there wasn't one person there that didn't remember the Eisenhower administration. Catering to their customers, the food was overcooked, bland, and simple. Some Mexican cuisine, greasy-spoon diner quality American eats, and a small bar. They did have a large senior menu, however, so if you need to take Nana out for brunch, this would work. I, however, won't be coming back. -------- I spent the last day or so thinking about this place, and as they were nice, I wanted to give them two stars, but the food was so bad, I couldn't go more than one.
