Two eggs scrambled with bacon and potatoes
    Julia R.

This restaurant is tucked inside of The Steward hotel past old town Goleta. I had family staying here for the weekend so we had breakfast here before they checked out. I will agree with other reviewers that it's kind of confusing figuring out how to get a table, you sort of have to walk around outside until you find a server to seat you as there is no host stand. We got to the restaurant around 9:50 and were surprised that there was only one waitress working! She was really sweet but clearly very busy handling all the tables by herself. [[HIGHLIGHT]]By 10:00 we were seated outside as it was a beautiful morning.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered and got our food around 10:40. Service was admittedly a bit slow but totally understandable being there was no other staff. The avocado toast was fantastic, super fresh and a great portion. The "2 eggs any style" combo was great, nicely seasoned potatoes and crispy bacon. Very limited breakfast menu but it had all of the staples like pancakes, eggs, etc. if I was staying at the hotel I would definitely come here to try dinner too, the menu on display inside looked good!

New menu new year .. review to come as I am with a friend

Ohh where shall I begin.. My client and I had agreed to eat here over a week ago and we were both excited after looking at the photos that were professionally taken . Clue #1 How about I start with the good things .. The staff was so nice . They were so great & nice ! However, they have not been given a fair shake at an honest living with the food that is served here ! The bartender makes some lovely drinks that are great and balanced however very mild . The Salmon that my guests ordered was disgusting . The parsnip purée had sat under a lamp for too long , the asparagus was yellow and the salmon was frozen prior! I could smell the bad salmon from my seat and when I asked her she confirmed and on top of that she too had a large amount of salt on her food that prevented her from even tasting the awful frozen salmon !! My first burger arrived well-done my burger second burger arrived, medium with a thick coat of salt that was crusted on the burger. I requested mayonnaise but there was none to speak of and when I asked if the chef could make mayonnaise he said he wasn't a proper chef . This property has a consulting chef that came in for a week to train and has never been seen again ! I requested that the salmon was removed off of the bill since it was so unbelievably awful. I appreciate that it was however both the burger and the salmon were inedible I just gave my second burger back and ate some French fries. This is the second property within the Marriott brand in one year that has massive issues in their restaurant. When I asked some further questions to the employees they were very aware of what is going on . I will give a huge thumbs up to the bartender on duty as well and the sweet male server . He clearly just wanted to come to work earn money and go home happy but I'm not sure how many complaints they tallied from the guests that prevented that . I am shocked that the Marriott treats their staff w disregard and without a thought puts their guests and elite guests through this. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The decor is to nice and modern it has all the visual esthetics to make one believe sitting down at thier restaurant was a good idea .[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Lesson and clue number 1 .. if you don't see any real Yelp photos from real guests and they're all professional don't eat at the restaurant. SHAME ON THE MARRIOT FOR THIS OJ ONE IF THEIR Tribute Portfolio Hotels! Stars for the servers that were underprepared and so nice Stars for the property that does not care about the cook does not have an F&B and serves unacceptable dishes to their guests

My friend and I were staying at The Steward and after driving and exploring all day we were feeling super lazy to go out for dinner so decided to eat at Terra. It was confusing trying to figure out where to even go to get a table. We went to the front lobby and no one was there so we walked to the bar and asked about dining at the restaurant and the bartenders pointed us back to the courtyard where we then waited a bit until we finally saw a server walking in the main dining area and we were finally able to get a table. Our food was mostly okay to pretty good. We shared the Caesar salad and the pappardelle and I ordered the chicken dish and my friend the pork chop. And then we shared 2 desserts. Our favorites by far were the pasta and the desserts. The salad felt a little just thrown together - not super flavorful and the dressing wasn't tossed evenly. I did like my chicken flavor-wise but it was super tough and chewy. My friend was also underwhelmed with her pork chop. Our server was very nice but she was the only server working so we understandably couldn't always get her attention when we were trying to order or had a question. I do like that everything is locally sourced and all the dining spaces are really nice especially outside! But because there is so much on their website about the restaurant's inspiration and the chef we were expecting more than just another hotel restaurant, especially for their prices.

We actually had an early dinner else where & decided to grab some nosh later in the evening. The mini wagyu sliders looked alright but it was actually very tender & juicy.

Pool view. It was beautiful morning.

We had a breakfast here. It was nice morning so we sat outside. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The garden was beautiful and our server was very attentive[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] but the food was okay, I have to say.

I really wanted to like this new Goleta restaurant, as a local, but unfortunately the reviews that say their service (and ambiance) is bad is an understatement. There are literally no waiters. There are two bartenders who will come over with menus, but only if you ask them to as they bring over your happy hour drinks. I ordered a glass of wine and the charcuterie board for appetizer. Happy hour means $4 off a $15 glass of wine, so you're still paying $11 but at least the wine was good. The charcuterie board was not cheap, and it didn't even come with crackers or bread of any kind. This was odd because there was nothing to put the cheese, meats, and mustard seeds on. I ended up putting the mustard seeds directly on the cheese, and I even had to ask for tableware so I didn't have to scoop the mustard with my fingers. For dinner, I ordered butternut squash soup and pork chops. The soup was delicious but cold, like it had been pre-prepared with toppings but not adequately heated up before serving. The double cut porkchop was dry and tasteless. The ambiance felt like an open air Marriott breakfast room. The check for winex2, charcuterie board, soup and main came to $100. For poor service, no silverware, no crackers or bread, cold soup, a tough porkchop, and poor ambiance, this seemed too expensive. This restaurant needs a full makeover not just a bit of tweaking, unfortunately.

    Boring but pretty chilaquiles

Unfortunately this place is going down hill fast. We have been here now three times since they've opened in the last few months. They started out beautifully when they first opened but took a nose dive with service, cleanliness and quality. We were excited to come back since we love the Steward so we walked into breakfast and kind of just stood in the doorway since there's no actual host stand. The room was pretty full with a lot of tables full of dirty dishes and what seemed to be enough servers and a manager. We got uncomfortable standing there with no help and saw two menus on a dirty table so we grabbed them and sat ourselves outside. We weren't greeted for 20 minutes along with the other tables on the patio. Everyone was irritated and just in need of some water. I chased servers down a few times but nothing seemed to help. The manager finally brought us over two water glasses with no water for the next ten minutes. A server walked by us multiple times and just smiled then told us we weren't his table. At this point I was almost fuming but didn't want to take it out on her not knowing if she ever knew she had a table outside. She came to ask if we wanted drinks, so I placed my complete order. She dropped coffees, with no cream, sugar or spoons. I flagged her down and asked, so she then brought cream, flagged her again then she brought sugar, with only the pink fake sugar in the bowl, so I got up and went to the lobby to get my own then stirred it with our forks. They used to take pride in their food and had these corn pancakes (double the size they are now) with fresh berries and syrup on the side. Now they are "buttermilk" it says but they tasted like cardboard, and for $20 an absolute flavorless rip off with a little compote of some sorts and some syrup they poured on for us??? I got chilaquiles which are now green but nowhere mentioned like that, I got them with runny eggs but they were delivered with super hard eggs, which I do not like, especially since you want the yummy yolks to cover your chilaquiles. The manager walked by and I asked if I could get two runny eggs and pushed these ones aside. He was nice and went and got me two new ones, delivered them to me and they were cracked and cooked completely hard, how did he see those and run them out of the kitchen. For $20 for chips in sauce topped with two eggs you'd think it'd be easy enough. At this point we were just irritated and wanted to leave since we've been here so long, we're three bites in and Viola here's our waitress with THE CHECK! No refills, no sauces, no spoon, no sugar and no runny eggs, but our check right after our food was served. If you're staying at the steward you're pretty much stuck eating here so have an hour and a half to wait around, grab your coffee from the lobby and grab your food just to take the hunger pains away. Nothing remotely delicious about this place anymore sadly. Still a beautiful spot to sit out and eat at though.

Hanger Steak was a measly portion, arrived cold and salad came without any dressing.

Cute lounge area, not really a restaurant setting. Food was okay to good, overpriced for what it was. Cocktails were good.

The cocktails are highly creative, diverse in flavor and design, and really could stand up to any you would find at a top cocktail bar in a major city. The exterior doesn't scream "must come in" but you absolutely should. Is it a tiki bar? Yes, but in the best way. And the bartender deserves applause for pulling off 3+ quite complex cocktails every 5 minutes off of memory and without any support.

In a stretch of Lower State packed with breweries, wine bars, and roaming weekend energy-drink humans in vintage bowling shirts, it threads the needle nicely between cocktail bar and tropical escape pod. The menu leans tiki-adjacent rather than deep-cut exotica, but the drinks are smartly built and avoid the "every problem can be solved with more rum" philosophy. There's a solid spread of spirits across the board, which makes the place feel more welcoming to a broader nightlife crowd instead of strictly rum disciples clutching vintage Trader Vic's mugs. The Oaxacan Dead was the standout for me. Smoky, balanced, endlessly sippable. One of those drinks where every sip quietly talks you into ordering another without turning into a sugar avalanche. The Jungle Bird was also great, though presented more in the direction of a Negroni than the punchier tropical versions you usually see. Bitter, restrained, and easy to settle into. Crowd-wise, things tilted a little frat-floaty as the night rolled on, but the staff handled everything smoothly and kept the vibe from turning into full pirate mutiny. Service stayed friendly and composed even when the volume of the room started climbing like a malfunctioning theremin. Big bonus points for the location and outdoor seating. Being right in the middle of Lower State makes it an easy launch point or final stop depending on your evening trajectory. Grab a drink, people-watch, drift between breweries and wine spots, repeat as necessary.

We had gone there to celebrate our anniversary, and it was such a great spot. We timed our reservation perfectly so that we were able to see the sunset over the ocean. As if that wasn't enough, we also spotted little bunnies hopping through the plants, which made my 6-year-old daughter's evening. She couldn't stop smiling! The meal started with complimentary fresh tomatoes served with an incredible seasoned salt for dipping. My daughter couldn't get enough of it. The house-made focaccia was easily one of the best breads I've ever had. Warm, fluffy, and paired with the whipped ricotta, it was absolutely amazing. If you come here, this is a MUST to order. We also shared the Festa Del Mar, which was packed with fresh seafood and was a very generous portion - perfect for sharing. The roasted carrots were also good. For drinks, we tried the Siren of the Sea, Intermezzo, and the Marisella Old Fashioned. The Old Fashioned was served with a beautiful monogrammed ice cube featuring an "M." All the drinks were good and they did not hold back on the alcohol. Our waiter was incredibly attentive, friendly, and super nice throughout the evening. He even offered to take our picture at the table and did such a great job at it too. The service definitely matched the quality of the food. We'll definitely be back here the next time we're in Santa Barbara. I'm still craving that house-made focaccia and the whipped ricotta. Soooo good!

Unfortunately, the rest of the experience was very disappointing. We arrived around 8:30 p.m. and were seated around 8:45 p.m. We were immediately told that the kitchen was closing at 9:00 p.m., so we had to rush to place our order. Later, I asked for a glass of milk for my toddler. I was told the kitchen was closed. I then asked if the bar was still open, and the waitress replied, in a way that felt like she was making fun of me, "Usually we don't make food at the bar." I wasn't asking for food--I was simply asking for a glass of milk for my child. I even explained that if they could make cappuccinos, they should be able to provide milk. Unfortunately, my request was dismissed. The food was decent--about 7/10--but the portions were small. The biggest disappointment was the service. While we were still eating, staff were already taking plates and items away from the table. When they brought the dessert, they did not even clean the table first--there were still pieces of food left on the table, and they placed the dessert right there. It felt rushed and careless. For a Ritz-Carlton restaurant, I expected much better hospitality and attention to detail. Unfortunately, this experience felt like a waste of money, and I would not recommend Marisella.
