I first visited this place almost eight years ago, and I remembered having such a great experience. Since I was back in Santa Barbara, I decided to come again with my friends--and I'm so glad I did! We started with the calamari, and it was amazing. I had never had calamari prepared this way before, and it was totally different and delicious. For drinks, I ordered the Watermelon Splash. I was expecting it to be a little sweeter, but it was still refreshing and enjoyable. For our entrée, we ordered a seafood platter with shrimp, fish, fries, and calamari. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. We really enjoyed the entire meal. Our server, Jordan, was wonderful--friendly, attentive, and provided excellent service. The ambiance and the beautiful view made the experience even better. Everything was great from beginning to end, and I will definitely be back again next time I'm in Santa Barbara! read more

Came for dinner. Table wasn't ready. Sar at the lounge and tried to get a beer while we waited. After a few minutes of no greeting or acknowledgement, went to the bar which wasn't busy. Tried to order the beers and was told had to wait for the server. Bar back insisted we just walked in and made a big deal out of our request and that we should wait. Continued to wait and after another 1p min we're seated at our table. Crap service.. Bar wasn't busy and they could've easily poured the 2 beers. Lame. read more

Such a great view! We arrived for 4th of July lunch and it was staffed very well. We were immediately seated and they had a DJ playing fun music that was a great volume so you could still hear everything going on at the table. Service was great and they were clearing tables immediately after the party left. We had the guacamole, chips, and salsa as a starter. The guacamole was fantastic! The tomatoes were a little bitter, but it tasted delicious all mixed together. I had the bowl of clam chowder. Tons of clams! My son had the lobster roll that came on a toasted bun. I had a bite of his and it was delicious ! His came with a side of fries. They didn't have much taste, but with salt, they were better. read more

Awesome ocean front dining on the Santa Barbara Pier and great seafood too! Service was very good and we scored a table with a great ocean view. Coconut shrimp were tasty, clam chowder bread bowl was very good and we also enjoyed the Caesar salad. Definitely should check out Longboards, they had a nice looking lounge area with couches inside near the bar that looked very inviting. Cheers !! read more

Place just reopened apparently and it was great! Has an elevator, great for bringing a stroller up to the second floor. Drinks are good, view is beautiful and we loved the food we tried. I'm writing this review on my way home, a two hour drive by the way. We came to Longboard's Grill to celebrate my mother's 66th birthday. Instead of her feeling celebrated she felt forgotten along with her party. We ordered our food. Shortly after we get our appetizer but no utensils. My mother had to flag a server for them. And 40min later we get our dinner. And somehow the people around us were getting their food. I must add we didn't order anything complicated we ordered saladS, fried shrimp, tacos and soup. My review here is solely on the service or lack of so I'm not going into the food but I don't think it was anything special. My sister spoke to the server about us being forgotten and mentions the it is mom's birthday. The server offers an ice cream for the birthday girl and to speak to her manager about the delay on our dinner. They decide to comp us the appetizer, right there and then we pay at the table. Hmmm and whatever happened to that ice cream? Who knows my mom was forgotten again. We waited over 10min and nothing. We all left disappointed. My wife and I and our 6 month old baby attempted to have a late lunch at Longboards this past Sunday, August 2, but left after being ignored for 25+ minutes. We arrived around 3 pm and went straight up to the host stand, where there was another family waiting. 10+ minutes went by as several staff members walked past us with food, menus, etc. and not a single one acknowledged our presence. No "we'll be with you in a few minutes" or even a nod acknowledging we existed. Eventually I asked a server if they were even seating customers, and she pointed to the hostess who had walked past us about 5 times already and said she would help us. We did finally get seated about 2-3 minutes later. Then came more waiting. The hostess partially cleared the previous group's glasses and silverware from our table when she sat us, but no one came to clean off the dirty, sticky table or give us napkins and silverware. At least she left us a few sticky menus, so we perused those while waiting to order drinks. 10+ more minutes went by without anyone asking to take our order or even offering us water. Meanwhile, one of the servers had plenty of time to deliver a drink and to-go food to another staff member sitting at the table next to us, who sat there with his head in his hands, apparently exhausted/hungover from the night before (which I know from their loud conversation about it right next to our table). Finally, after 25+ minutes of combined waiting, we just got up and left and enjoyed a nice meal of fish and chips at Char West. Consistent with the rest of our time at Longboard's, no one bothered to acknowledge us on our way out. I have lived in Santa Barbara all my life and used to go to Longboard's several times per year. I had heard that things were not the same under new ownership, and this confirms it. The renovations to the restaurant do look nicer than before, but the outside furniture already looks fairly worn for its age, and the whole restaurant for some reason looks like it was sponsored by Aperol (which I love, but Aperol pillows and umbrellas all over a restaurant with no affiliation to the brand is still tacky and weird). Needless to say, I won't be back. There are plenty of other options on the wharf and Cabrillo Blvd. where the staff won't ignore you. read more

Came in with some friends to watch the game and had a great time. The chowder was delicious, the drinks were excellent, and you really can't beat the view. The restaurant has a laid-back atmosphere but is very clean, and the bar is a great place to hang out. The mixed drinks and the wait help were great. The food was overpriced and really not very good. Had chips and guac where the avocado was underripe, under portioned and the chips were stale. And the "award winning" clam chowder was not memorable. Better chowder down at the very end of the pier. The waiter was very attentive and friendly, the atmosphere is great, just hope they come up with better food. The mixed drinks were good though, strong, but rather expensive as well. Wouldn't go back......I made a reservation for 4 people online. When we got there we were told that there are ONLY 2 tables for Happy Hour or we could sit at the bar??? There was NOWHERE on the online reservations that said there was limited Happy Hour space and if we sat at a regular table we would have to pay full price. and by the way, there was NO ONE sitting at the regular tables. What restaurant has such a small area for Happy Hour and when we questioned the hostess and waiter, they were quite rude saying that we needed to talk to management if we didn't like it. You should be able to enjoy Happy Hour in the whole upstairs restaurant. These restaurant owners really DON"T know how to run a restaurant??? Will NOT go back....... read more

We ate at Longboards this evening. We ordered our food and asked for an extra plate to share tacos . The plate never arrived. When the food came without silverware, I went up to the server and asked for setups. She informed me that they were low on silverware. When I was obviously frustrated and asked, "how do you expect us to eat without set ups?" She responded that I did not need to be rude. Also the steak we ordered for my granddaughter was full of fat, overcooked and she had to eat most of it with her hands. I had to go to the bar to even get salt and pepper. Then the waitress sent another server to our table who said our original server was on a break (not true as I saw her serving other tables). read more
