    Seafood Platter

We were passing through Santa Barbara and decided to give Moby Dick a try. The restaurant was busy, but not too loud that we couldn't talk. The server was fabulous. He was busy, but still took the time to care for all of our needs. The drinks were very good and we had Maple old fashioned and a Gin martini. We shared the seafood platter. Which was a disappointment as it didn't match the quality of service we received. The food was ok, but not fantastic.

This place is crazy busy! We walked in on a Saturday as a party of two, and you definitely can't get a regular table without a reservation. We ended up sitting in the bar area instead. Our bartender/server was slammed, but we still managed to get our oysters in before happy hour ended. The view through all the windows is great, but just be prepared for the crowd--the place is huge and accommodates a lot of people, so it gets loud and hectic. The oysters were good, though!

Loved this place!!!! The food was amazing. The fact that the restaurant was on the pier, the view of the ocean was lovely while you eat. I ate at the bar and our bartender (Latino) was excellent. He took care of of us with the drinks and hospitality. This is a great spot for seafood and drinks

I came on. Tuesday during happy hour. I saw the $1.50 oyster offer so I stopped to eat despite not being that hungry. I was seated within a minute or two as it wasn't that busy at this time. I sat at the oyster bar and saw the oysters being opened right in front of me. I got the pea soup which wasn't anything special, but I was focused on the oysters more. The large oysters tasted different than the small ones and I'm not sure why. I also tried the key lime pie which has a bruleed top and comes with caramel sauce. I had a good experience from the few things that I tried. Environment was nice and my waiter was kind.

Dragonette rose was really good we went to the winery after trying it.

Restaurant on the pier with beautiful views and fresh air. Not too busy on a Saturday afternoon, sat at the bar quick service fresh oysters and clam chowder was perfect with our rose wine. Reasonable pricing for the wine and soup but the oysters were overpriced in my opinion. This is a regular stop on our trips up to Santa Barbara.

This review is for the oyster bar located on Stearns Wharf and inside Moby Dick Restaurant. It's still fairly new and brings a bright updated open space with amazing ocean views and a fresh oyster bar. They offer a curated selection of seafood, craft cocktails, beer and local wines. On my visit, I started with a passion fruit margarita. Surprised? If you know you know! One of my favorites, although I will say that it was pretty expensive, and it will cost you $19. Ouch! This price is based on the location obviously and what most tourists will pay. Despite the price, I still enjoyed it. For food, I ordered the shrimp scampi. Definitely the right choice! The presentation was beyond my expectations and the portion was huge. The shrimp was succulent and full of flavor. It also comes with cilantro rice and garlic cheese bread. The perfect accompaniment to soak up the garlicky buttery juices. It wasn't busy on my visit, which was nice. Then again it was mid-week. The bartender said they tend to get busy later in the day and most weekends. Overall, my visit was pleasant and I could have stayed here all day just looking out at the beautiful ocean waters. A definite bookmark and worth the splurge!

Our first visit here to Pier Santa Barbara. The beaches we normally go to were too cold so we drove a little further south to my mom's home town. We walked the pier and stopped here for a bite. The weather was perfect so we sat outside on the patio overlooking the ocean. The staff was very friendly and we didn't have to wait to be seated. Considering how busy it seemed in the parking lot, I was surprised at the speediness of getting seated and served. I wasnt super hungry so I got the Ahi Tartare and it was nice and refreshing. Perfectly green Has Avocado guacamole covered in beautiful tuna chunks served with kettle chips. We got the popcorn ship as an appetizer and I loved the batter! It was nice and crispy and had a good seasoning to it. The little shrimps were perfectly cooked as well. The popcorn shrimp is a must have.

This is my second time visiting this restaurant and it was just as good as my first time! The fish is always fresh and soft, and the cilantro rice is cooked and seasoned very well. The lobster mac & cheese was a little lacking in portion and taste. Would always recommend their market specials for the entrée. The service is always fast and efficient but we always get sat by the ocean which is a stunning view. Definitely recommend this spot if you are looking for a great view and great food along the oceanside.

Firs time stopping in as I had family in town and they wanted to explore the wharf area. No wait when we arrived and we sat inside with a great view of the ocean and harbor! We had the sweetest waitress who chatted with us and answered all of our questions about the menu. Ordered the grilled fish tacos, grilled salmon, grilled halibut and wedge salad. Everything was pretty good! The tacos were a pretty small portion for the price but tasty. The cilantro lime rice was great and super flavorful. Nothing was super stand-out flavor wise but certainly nothing was bad! Will add this to my list of local places to take friends and family when visiting.

My friend and I visited this seafood restaurant located on Stearns Wharf for lunch and had a great experience. We sat outside since the weather was nice facing the harbor and both tried their lunch option which was Salmon with a side of soups or salad. Their salmon was incredibly fresh and flavorful. The service was also good and our waiter was friendly. I definitely recommend this place and will be back if I am back in Santabarbara.

This place is located toward the end of Stearn's Wharf in Santa Barbara, CA. You may drive into this area - look for the parking booth and press button for ticket for arm to raise up. It's a wooden plank road so lots of little bumps. Restaurant is located on right side with a view of harbor fishing boats and lots of pelicans resting. We walked inside and it's a real salty dog atmosphere with wood and brass, comfy and fun, with lots of windows to see the view. We were seated around the side by a bar. Our server was Joseph, and he was just as sweet as can be. They have a specialty drink menu so I had to try the Bloody Mary which was like a mini meal lol with all the garnishes - shrimp, celery, blue cheese stuffed olives, bacon, lemon/lime and a rim of tajin! Joseph explained to me what it was and added a little kick. Hubby had a draft beer but their oyster menu was intriguing with all sorts of choices so he had to try a few. Nice to be able to order one and not an entire plate. Joseph explained what each one was and how prepared etc. This little pick-me-up was just right! Mahalo to Joseph, bartender and chef at Moby Dick's! We shall return

Transparency: Late Review On our trip to Santa Barbara we stopped here for Lunch/Dinner. We went to "The Oyster Bar". We were seated in the patio which gave a pleasant view of the ocean. There is a glass wall that shields you from the elements when the wind picks up. The service was good, attentive, and accommodating. The Food: You don't go to an oyster bar and not have oysters, lol. They were excellent. There was a special at the time which brought them into more reasonable prices. We had the half dozen. They were fresh, and tasty. The other dishes included the halibut and the mussels. Both were fresh, with good presentation.

    Jean Y.

Moby Dick is located at the Pier. I had a great halibut ceviche! The best! Hazy ipa also super cold and tasty. Actually had the same ipa few more places, but Moby Dick hazy ipa was the best. Great view from anywhere you sit. Watching a boat or two floating on the ocean is great. Friendly service. Nice bathroom.

    Are reservations required for dinner?

You can make reservations on line @ Opentable.com. Reservations are typically good for six or more diners. Of course day and number in the party are always considerations. It is a large restaurant so couples and four tops shouldn't be an issue.

    Is there a Happy Hour?

Yes we have happy hour Monday - Friday from 3-6 pm with the exception of holidays!

Is there happy hour during holiday season (January 2nd 2025)? I was notified by my server that they do not have happy hour despite the many signs they had posted outside

First, Finch & Fork is essentially just the restaurant inside the Kimpton Canary Hotel. What I mean is that it's not a restaurant that happens to be inside of hotel property (think Caruso's). It's just where you eat as a hotel guest that is hungry for brunch. We had an 11:00 AM reservation, which I believe was the earliest brunch seating. The hotel lobby was packed and chaotic when we arrived. We checked in and sat down to wait, but while we were waiting, multiple other parties of two who checked in after us were seated first. Not a huge issue on its own, but not a great start. The Mother's Day brunch itself consisted of a buffet plus an entrée selection. The buffet had three main sections: seafood (oysters, shrimp, tuna poke), salads, and miscellaneous bites and desserts like deviled eggs, Italian wedding soup, and macarons. Honestly, the buffet felt more like cocktail hour appetizers at a wedding than a true luxury brunch spread. The entrées were fine. The service was fine. Nothing was bad, but nothing felt memorable or special either. The atmosphere was also extremely loud...noticeably so. What really dropped the rating for me was the value. For two people with no alcohol (just iced tea), the total came out to $264.60. That price was honestly shocking for what was offered. Nothing about the food, service, or atmosphere justified that kind of cost. As we were leaving, we noticed a Photo Booth setup and a bouquet-making station across the lobby. No one had mentioned either of these to us, and the bouquet station appeared unattended, so we weren't even sure whether it was included or an extra charge. Overall, I left feeling disappointed, especially because this was meant to be a special Mother's Day outing for my mom. If you're just looking for a casual hotel brunch/lunch/dinner, it's perfectly fine. But for a holiday brunch at this price point, I expected something much more polished, elevated, and memorable.

A lot of indoor seating but we enjoyed our table outside, watching pedestrians on State St. and enjoying the beautiful scenery and architecture. We expected to wait to be seated but surprisingly it wasn't that busy. Order at counter and the food is brought to your table. As we waited, employee kindly gave us two free pastry samples, both delicious. All the baked goods I got to go I want again. Their scones are fabulous-slightly crunchy on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside. Their tea service which comes with champagne is pricey, I believe $75 per person. But interior is a perfect colorful and relaxed setting for tea. My tastebuds dream of coming back. Will be thrilled when I next indulge on their pastries and quiche.

There was only one person in line and 4 staff members behind the counter standing around talking to each other. Nobody greeted us or asked for our bakery order. When I said excuse me to a dirty blond girl she replied "WHAT!" and continued to joke with a co worker. When the cashier finished with their customer they walked away and even though they saw we were waiting to be helped. I looked around and saw nobody helping seated customers or us at the bakery counter. Finally, the dirty blonde ask what we need and my response was "WHAT" ?! At this point we should have left and gone to Lilac Patisserie however we proceeded to give her our order. I told another customer behind us that rudeness seems to be the norm, and she agreed. I paid for our bakery items and asked an older woman scrolling on her phone if we could have a bag for all of our boxed treats. She grabbed a handful of bags and threw them at me from across the counter. We were appalled and left. We found a place to sit on State street to eat our treats and my daughter said she didn't want her Meringue because the dirty blonde girl used the back of her ungloved hand to repeatedly wipe her nose. We threw all $50 worth of baked goods in the trash. Yes, I should have gone back and complained I'm had everything refunded but it was Mother's Day and we didn't want anything more to do with this establishment. It was also an epiphany that they don't treat everyone this way. It could be you next time. Please go somewhere else. We will never go to anywhere but Lilac Patisserie which is to the left as you exit Andersons, past the stop light. You will definitely get your money's worth and the staff is friendly, professional, and greet you immediately as you reach the counter.

I found this place online based off some positive reviews. It was fairly packed for a Thursday evening but waited anyways thinking that would be a good sign. The hostess was very friendly and we were seated outside which wasn't an issue, it was the unsteady table that caused everything to shake and move while eating that was. As we were seated we were asked if we wanted chips, salsa and guac. Had we know it was a huge bowl of just guac for an extra charge we definitely would have passed. After returning with our drinks, the waitress began to take our order but in the middle of the order asked us to hold on for a moment and walked off. We then watched her for fifteen minutes seat two tables behind us. She took their drink and even food orders and it wasn't until after then she returned to our table. She stated the kitchen had a mix up and asked what we ordered. After telling her she never took our order she apologized saying it was busy. The food was just okay somewhat bland which was very disappointing but the drinks were good. After requesting the check a lady and her large two dogs walked by with only one being on the leash. The dog began to walk throughout the front of the restaurant off leash. As much as I love animals I did feel it was a bit unsafe especially considering how large the dog was. Before bringing the check our waitress stated she would be back after taking a picture with the dog. I feel the restaurant was overcrowded and overpriced for just okay food and service.
