Just driving by and found the place just a hidden gem for sure. Had a burger with this apricot sauce that wasn't sweet, just gave it this perfect little kick with the grilled onions and cabbage. This place is good for drinks like there beer on tap. The service sucks for food. We ordered filet migon and it was more like sirloin. It was dry with no taste. It took forever to get my beer. The server never came and checked on us. Apparently our server also had a party outside of more than 10. Definitely was not impressed. We were on a girls trip celebrating a birthday. At least we got a discount off our meal. But sucked hoping to enjoy a decent meal out. read more

The wife and I drove up to Santa Barbara to pick up some wine at the Riverbench Tasting Room. While she was doing that, I searched around for someplace to eat. I found The Brewhouse, just a mile or two from where we were. They have a nice street-side patio out front, and apparently one on the side of the business, as well. This is a real brewhouse, and a good portion of the place is behind glass windows, showing off their fermenting tanks. You enter to a full bar and scattered high-tops, but there is restaurant seating off to the side. My wife and I took a high-top by the front window. We were greeted by our server right away, and he brought water and a beer that my wife ordered. She enjoyed it. I tried a few sips and it was very clean tasting and refreshingly cold. We ordered our food, a burger for her and a blackened salmon sandwich for me, and both were very good. She rarely finishes a burger, but this one was nothing but crumbs when she was done. The salmon sandwich tasted great and had a nice tartar sauce on it. Her fries were done "perfectly", crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. I ordered a Caesar salad as my side, and the lettuce we crisp and it had a good tasting Caesar dressing. We sent a picture of the beer to my son to irritate him, and he read the appetizer menu on the table. He commented back on gorgonzola chips, so we ordered those. The chips are made in-house and were excellent. There was plenty of gorgonzola cheese sprinkled on. A little melt would have been better, but we finished the plate. Talking to the server, we found out this is an independently owned restaurant. We asked, because there are several "The Brewhouse" restaurants up and down the California coast, but all well separated. We prefer to visit independently owned restaurants as opposed to chains. We will definitely go there again next time we're in SB. read more

Our group was traveling to Disneyland and we were looking for a place that was conveniently located near the 101. This place fit the bill. Needed a quick bite on my way to Santa Barbara harbor. Server was friendly and very conversational. I decided on the burger and beer combo, despite the smash burger and beer was less expensive during happy hour. The food tasted pretty generic. It wasn't bad but there wasn't anything that made a statement it was a "Brewhouse" burger. The patty seemed a bit small and a bit overcook as I ordered "medium" I chose the hard seltzer as the accompanying beverage. It was a pretty pink color, but it lacked enough taste to tell what fruit the beverage was based from. Service was great, as the server came frequently to check up on me. There is ample seating on both the outside patio and inside. The decor are your standard American pub decorations The challenge is parking. The streets are narrow and most people who aren't regulars don't know that there is a parking lot out back, and even that is a bit of a challenge to get to. The Brewhouse isn't a new restaurant in town, but it is to me since this was my first time here. I've been meaning to come here based on my hairdressers recommendation. We always talk about food when we catch up, and she raved about the food here. What better way to check it out than with my cousins visiting from out of town. The ambience is spacious, and they even have outdoor seating in the back. It just so happened that a band was playing on our visit; which was a Saturday night. We wanted to sit outside to hear the band, but unfortunately there was no seating. I appreciate the staff notifying us of availability later on, but we had already finished our meals and ready to go. As for the food, I ordered the Brewhouse Burger. It was love at first bite! The char grilled taste took me back in time; when we used to have the OG burger joint, better known as "Char West Burger". I really did savor each bite, and I'm glad to know that I can come back here anytime I am craving it. My cousins ordered the tri tip & BLTA sandwich. Their food looked delicious upon serving, and they both enjoyed their meals as well. Although, the salad looked very plain and there was nothing special about it. Just lettuce thrown on a plate. That was a disappointment, but hopefully they can improve on that! Our server was really nice, but I felt he could have checked on us more often. Other than that, our experience was great! I really enjoyed my meal, and the plates being brought out for the customers looked really good. Especially the Beer Batter Fish n Chips! We made our usual pit stop here on the way back down from Monterey Bay to LA. Cathy was very accommodating with our service dogs. She made sure to go out of her way to make us comfortable. Thank you to our server who is very nice and was very nice to our dogs. They have a full menu with lots of options and also a doggy menu. They have indoor and outdoor seating. We parked out front on the street but it looks like there is a parking lot behind the business. The beer was great and our Fish and Chips were also delicious. Brie was our server and she was the absolute best! She was funny, genuine, had awesome stories to tell my friends and family. Speaking of which she treated us like family. Our food came so quickly, our drinks were on point (aka STRONG)! After a travel day we were so happy with our wings, the Gorgonzola chips and the bbq pulled pork tacos! Everything was just great! Really good classic, fresh seafood, Mexican, German, and American food. They have some creative and original items that I've never seen before. We especially loved the corn cakes (they look like a pancake, but have fresh corn and vegetables in them) which is served with a yummy fruit compote. The seafood is super fresh! I loved the batter on the fish tacos which was airy and crunchy - the chipotle sauce that it comes with was perfect! They have a great selection of a full bar, they brew some of their own beers that include a very large selection. There's some great yard games to play outside and they have some games that you can take to your table. The atmosphere is casual and everyone that worked there was so friendly. Our server was really efficient and checked on us frequently. I highly recommend this spot if you want something affordable, a great menu, and great beverages! I love beef ribs, and then heard about this place. I guess back in the day they used to have all you could eat beef ribs. We heard that they're special on Wednesdays are three beef ribs with two sides for $22 not too bad of a price. They were smaller than we expected but makes sense for the price. The food was just okay. I had fish and chips: it didn't come hot and the amount of fish was below average. My wife got a pretzel and a salad. Again the pretzel wasn't hot and it looked unappetizing. I want to start off by saying that I truly was super excited about this place. In early March I contacted the restaurant and spoke with Kathy to set up a lunch for a large group on March 22 after the Santa Barbara Orchid Show. After reviewing the menu and speaking with Kathy I decided to go ahead and book with her. We decided on menu choices that I could present to my group and have them choose their lunch prior to arriving. I called in the order well in advance on the morning of our arrival so that the food would start being served as we arrived. What I will say is that I initially expected to arrive around 1:30pm however the amount of time spent at the orchid show was less than expected. When I called in the order she asked if we would still arrive at 1:30 and I explained that it would be sooner. She stated she needed to call the staff in sooner. My group of 36 arrived somewhere around 12:40-12:45. When we arrived Kathy's facial expressions clearly showed that she was not very happy that we arrived early. I brought the group in and we were showed where we would be seated. As I walked in the stench of the restaurant was very noticeable that a part of my group requested to sit outside. She was clearly unprepared to take in a group of 36 people. In addition, I don't think she had the ability to handle a group this size. She was very flustered and worked very angrily. We spoke several times before this day so my expectation was that this lunch would be perfect. I printed easy menus for my group and explained to Kathy that we have done this before. All they needed to do was go to each person take the menu with the entree choice and deliver the meal. But they just weren't able to do so. Kathy's attitude was nothing I have ever seen before. She kept saying to me in front of my guests, "just so you know I comped $100 worth of food" and was very loud at which point I asked her to go to speak away from my guests. She was extremely unprofessional. When we agreed on everything in the weeks prior she stated she would pass out fries and Gorgonzola chips as appetizers but those came out after the entrees were served. Some of the tables did not receive either and when I asked she had an issue with it and said she was comping it but that was not what we agreed to. In addition, when we spoke the understanding was that coffee would be served but that was clearly an issue as well. She asked me if she was charging for it but she had previously told me it was included but made sure to tell me she comped it. I understand she wanted to make a point but these were things she promised. I said to her not to worry if there was anything additional she wanted me to pay for I would. She kept saying "just so you know" "but it's ok". If it's ok then why mention it I said to her. Very unprofessional. Some of the burgers were raw so they had to be sent back. I was most excited about the pasta dish because she made it sound so good but the two people who ordered said it was terrible. They had to order something else. Fortunately the two younger servers were very pleasant and attentive. I'm sad that I have to write this review but I felt compelled because I was extremely embarrassed by this experience. As a manager of a restaurant if there is something going on you certainly do not say things during the dining experience. Later on maybe softly mention it but to be so loud and make the guests uncomfortable especially when I spent $1000 on Sunday afternoon where the restaurant was empty. Kathy needs to be better trained on her customer service skills and how to run a restaurant. read more

My Yelp mantra "Give Me an Experience" is the reason for this 5 star review. There's a story and I'm telling it so grab a coffee and cozy in because it's worth telling. Context: My daughter is in high school. Last August, she and 3x random music students committed to meeting every Tuesday night at Detar Music Studios to play as a band. And that's what they did, 4x times a month - learning to play a variety of complicated band rock music. Fast forward to May. Having been practicing faithfully they had 11x songs in their repertoire. Not enough for a typical 2 hour set, but something, it dawned on me, "These kids should have a chance to perform publicly!" espcially because at the end of the month they'd be going different directions. ENTER BREWHOUSE! Knowing they hosted live music I called last Saturday. I asked if they'd be open to hosting these local kids but the only night they could play was this Tuesday. Kathy, the manager, said "ABSOLUTELY. We'd love to give them a chance to play here!" She didn't ask me, "Well... are they good?" or "What kind of music?" She just said "This is an easy way for us to support our community and you never know if it inspires something else in these kids." I've attached some pictures to show you what the result was 72 hours later. It was a lifetime memory for these kids. They made $350 in tips. The patio was packed and the Brewhouse service was running around madly serving everyone as they unknowingly had a way busier Tuesday. It was a win / win / win! Honestly, can't even tell you how the food was. We ordered the nachos, trip tip sandwich, fries, steak bites and chips and they were crushed. Sometimes the food at a restaurant is actually secondary because everything else is so great. They serviced the heck out of us, were so supportive and valued our being there. Mood: nostalgia Hey hey everyone, so today's trip invited me to Santa Barbs for my Mom's 40th class anniversary! Our trip for the day included The Brewhouse which is really close to the Amtrak station, btw. My Mom & I are coming from Vegas so this experience has been amazing. The Brewhouse has a cute layout with outside seating, inside seating, and a cute back patio. I've seen a few groups with pets & it just feels like a homey brewery. Our group was huge & they were so happy to accommodate us. The staff is amazing, forsure! The Brewhouse has a good selection of beer, but I ended up getting a cider. It's a chill establishment with regulars & day trippers. For lunch, I had a tri tip sandwich & it was so bomb! I was stuck between the schnitzel and the sandwich & I am so glad that I picked the tri tip sandwich. It's a really simple dish, but sometimes you just appreciate a solid sandwich with good company. I really do appreciate how well the staff took care of us & created a core memory for my Mom and her friends. Thank you Brewhouse for your hospitality and service. I truly appreciate it. We had dinner outside on the front patio. Kids had the BBQ burgers. I had the farmhouse burger with a side salad. My wife had the tri tip sandwich with the corn chowder. Everything was good, but the corn chowder was excellent. Got a recommendation for the layered enchiladas, but we weren't quite hungry enough to try them. Maybe next time. I found this place by scouring Apple Maps, and it looked like the kind of place my fiancé and in laws would like so we decided to try it out. The inside decor is nonexistent but the locals and regular bar guys create the comfortable homey atmosphere. And it's dog friendly! The roast turkey sandwich was so good for how simple it was. The turkey tasted so fresh, the avocado was perfect, onions were sweetened perfectly and bread toasted perfectly. Yummy! The Caesar salad was good too. My father in law enjoyed the chicken burger as did my fiancé enjoy his brew house burger. Nothing special about those menu items but the fries were an A+ to my fiancé and father in law. This is an updated review - my last one was from 2013! The Brewhouse is still a local's favorite. This is the oldest brewery in town with a great food menu. I've always been a fan of the West Beach IPA. Another favorite is the Habanero Pilsner which is infused with Habanero peppers. My perennial best-loved meal is the Brewhouse Filet Mignon Enchiladas with wild mushrooms, ancho-lime cream sauce, pepper jack cheese, spicy black beans, topped with a corn cake. Another is the burger and a pint of beer special- 10 years ago, it was $10... still not a bad deal at $19. The place was recently sold to new owners and they had a final Oktoberfest (the Brewhouse's was the 'original' Oktoberfest celebration in Santa Barbara) a couple of weekends ago. The new owners are locals (one is a current employee) and the regulars are hoping that the operations will stay the same, although there are plans to spruce things up a bit and focus on expanding beer distribution. I now live in Goleta so I don't come here as often, but Brewhouse will always be near and dear to my heart. I wish the new owners much success in the years to come! read more
