Food was bad bland no taste and just left a lot to wish for and it took them like an hour to bring out the food but that's not even the worst part was THE SERVICE OMG I HAVE NEVER EVER EVER felt so discriminated against my partner and I (people of color) came in at about 10 pm when we walked into the restaurant there was no acknowledgment that we were even in the restaurant. We walked in and stared at the bartender and at the people run the restaurant and they stared back not offering a seat or anything kinda just wondering why we were even there. There is no POC in this restaurant and it is extremely uncomfortable for us they took a while to even acknowledge us or even try to seat us. Tho was the worst restaurant I have ever been too definitely do not go to this place is you are a person of color because you will 100% be discriminated against and it seems that your money is not worth the same as a white person who were greeting treated amazing by the staff and bartender.

I found this place on Google after a late yoga class nearby and it's honestly a hidden gem. . Roy is a local Italian bistro that is open daily from 6 PM to midnight. When all the other venues are closing up for dinner service, they are just getting started. They have the cutest handwritten menu complete with appetizers, starters, a full bar, entrées and dessert. . I cannot rave about the space enough with all the cool artwork from local, late and great Santa Barbara artist Ken Nack and vintage design pieces. My friend & I both ordered from the starter menu. She had the huge veggie plate and I had the fish and chips, which was actually made with salmon that night, but surprisingly did not disappoint. Portions are fairly big so don't let your eyes fool your stomach. The fish was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the presentation was very beautiful. The chef Roy himself even came to the table to greet us and Morgan, who was the only server in the restaurant was doing a kick ass job taking care of everybody as the night picked up. . We're suckers for Italian food, so I have nothing but good things to say. Go try them out for yourself if you're in the downtown Santa Barbara area!

The food was wonderful here. The service was spectacular. Our waitress was very nice and Roy even came out to fill our water glasses. The ambiance inside is like an art gallery. I have been coming here for years. Their soups and salads are also very good. Definitely a place to have a nice dinner or to celebrate a special day. The live band was great. They played a lot of Led Zeppelin and Tom Petty.

I was excited to go here. The ambiance was great, the hostess was very nice, the owner even stopped by to check on us... But, I ordered a new dish they just started serving. The rack of lamb. It selled very off, but given this was not some I normally eat I thought maybe it was me. But the smell was so off putting I couldn't take more than a few bites. They wanted me to take it home to give you someone else, but thank goodness I didn't because I ended up with the worst food poisoning ever! I looked it up, and the #1 way to know if lamb has gone bad is by the smell. My question is how did the chef not know this? And how did he not notice?! My husband called to let them know so no one else gets sick. Hopefully they listen but it sounds like they were rushing and didn't say anything except "thanks for letting us know". All in all... I'd be afraid to go back. But if you steer clear of the lamb I'm sure you'll love this place.

It was a cute area, and we could enjoy the nice weather! Loved the vibes here! All of the dishes we had here were a hit! They start you off with some complimentary Dill Pickle Popcorn. It's seasoned with allspice, turmeric, garlic, and chili flakes. A fun little appetizer to get your tastebuds ready! Dishes are meant to be shared, and four was a perfect amount of two people. We got the "Tutti Frutti Farms" Roasted Beet Salad. It had strawberries, whipped goat ricotta, salted pistachio, and nastrurtium. Such gorgeous presentation, and a nice bright and fresh dish to begin the meal. Next we had the Jidori Chicken Liver Mousse. Loved this! It had roasted blueberries, hazelnut praline, lemon thyme, and grilled sourdough. Such a perfect combination of flavors and textures! We also had Crispy Brussel Sprouts. These were probably some of the best Brussels sprouts I've ever had! The savory sesame and garum paired with sweetness from the dates, a crunch from the puffed wild rice, and some tartness from the lime were incredible together! Another amazing dish! Lastly, we had the Handmade Rigatoni Pasta. It had sugar snap peas, maitake mushrooms, piedmont white truffle butter, parmesan, and pea tendrils. While this dish was good, it did feel a little more ordinary than the other three dishes we had. Would recommend the Roasted Beet Salad, Chicken Liver Mousse, and Brussels Sprouts first! For a drink, I got the Tea Time, which has strawberry, peach, ginger, rosemary, and tea. It's under the "Free-Spirited"/Mocktail menu, and it was refreshing! Can't wait to come back on my next visit to Santa Barbara!

We had to get someone to check on "one" meal that was never brought for my daughter. The server came to the table to ask what happened? He was informed of the missing meal and told us that he was going to check with the kitchen. Yup you guessed it took him forever to return to tell us that oops the kitchen was slammed and either they forgot to make the order or faced it to another table seriously who says that? The manager came to the table to apologize and said oh I'm sorry about that I'll take it off your tab. WTH that is the least you should do. Well let me comp you with some desserts, no thanks. It took them over 20 minutes to provide us with the bill. This was the worst experience I've ever had, management did not handle the situation properly. Also, this is my FIRST negative review ever. But I just had to vent because this really made me angry especially on a night when we were out to celebrate my husband's birthday with the family. Definitely will not be able to recommence as my experience was not a positive one. Ambiance was nice, I just think it was over crowded and not enough servers to handle the Sunday crowd!!!! The decor of the restaurant makes you feel like you've stepped into New Orleans--murals, Mardi Gras themed items, and cards on the ceiling! I was so excited that they bring out complimentary mini muffins! They are SO good! They have a few different flavors like banana nut, jalapeno corn, a rosemary one, etc. Definitely a highlight! For appetizers, we ordered the Cajun Popcorn and the Soft Shell Crab. I haven't had a lot of crawfish before, so I really wanted to try the Cajun Popcorn. These crawfish tails are dipper in cornbread buttermilk batter and fried. They're crispy and fun to eat! They give a sherry wine dipping sauce, which was also yummy! Would recommend getting these! We also wanted to try the Soft Shell Crab, and you can get it as an appetizer or an entree. The appetizer comes with one soft shell crab that's been stuffed with Bienville crabmeat dressing, coated the cornmeal flour, and flash fried. It has just the right amount of crispiness! It's served with a jalapeno beurre-blanc and rice. For our entree, we shared the Crawfish Pasta Lafitte. We couldn't get enough of the crawfish tails so decided to get the pasta that had them as well. The pasta also had caramelized onions, tomatoes, mushrooms, cream, and creole seasoning. Very tasty! Would recommend this pasta! For the fun part that I mentioned--they have a magician that walks around and does magic tricks at each table! It was entertaining and very cool to see some of the tricks up close! They also have a Sing-Along moment in the evening where they'll had out lyric sheets to everyone, turn on the music, and everyone sings the song together. They were playing "What A Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong on the evening I was there, but the song changes and they ask you not to open the lyrics book until right before the song, so it's a surprise!

**An Unforgettable Anniversary at Barbareno!**…read more Wow, what a night! My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Barbareno, and it was nothing short of spectacular. He had reserved a table weeks in advance, and even though we ran a few minutes late due to the fiesta madness and Uber challenges, the staff was incredibly kind and understanding. Seriously, they turned what could have been a stressful situation into a smooth entry! Our server, Sierra, was an absolute gem--probably the best server I've encountered in ages! She kicked off the evening by walking us through the menu and setting the tone for our culinary adventure. Talk about being in good hands! To toast our special day, she even surprised us with complimentary champagne. Cheers to that! Now, let's dive into the food! We started with the **bread and butter**--trust me, don't skip it! Next up was the **bacon date preserve**, which was nothing short of incredible. Then came the acorn tagliatelle, made with wild mushrooms and acorn flour. I've never tasted anything quite like it! Unique and delicious! But the real star of the show was the **Santa Maria barbecue tri-tip**. Juicy, tender, and bursting with flavor--it's hands down the best tri-tip I've ever had. I'm still dreaming about it! To wrap up our meal, we indulged in the **dessert wine flight**--a must for anyone visiting! Each sip was a delightful surprise, and we finished with the **avocado mousse**, a light and unique dessert that felt like a perfect ending after a rich meal. As a dessert lover, I was thrilled to find something so indulgent yet refreshing! As if the evening couldn't get any better, the chef himself came to our table to check in. He was humble and genuinely cared about the experience he was providing. It's no wonder Barbareno is Michelin-rated! We can't wait to come back and bring the kids next time.
