There were 3 of Us: My Wife & Niece, both Mexican-American women & Myself. My Wife & Niece are Brown-skinned, shorter Latinas. My Wife & I are over 65 years old. We are retired from Fortune-500 corporations & have owned a home here in S.B. for 25 years & we Love this town... & we love Jill's Place. A senior couple sitting next to us, was also DISTURBED by Tony's behavior & agreed with the statements I made to him & said we were right to speak-out & they supported us. ISSUES w/Tony the waiter: He was... -Rude -Misogynistic -Disrespectful & for working at a "woman"-owned restaurant, it's SHAMEFUL -Used a very LOUD voice, almost hollering at Us. -Very Hurried in Speech & Action, hard to understand & very Impatient -He SNATCHED the Menu out of my Wife's hands---TWICE !!! I'll be honest. I could have eaten anything in Santa Barbara. I hadn't eaten anything since 9am and it was 5pm when I arrived in Santa Barbara. I walked one mile away because of the great things I heard about Jill's Place. And you know what? I was not disappointed! I was stoked and impressed greatly I had two wonderful, dazzling, and sweet waitresses (lucky me!). I was served a yummy chicken breast sandwich and it was the best one I had ever! No seriously! It wasn't too salty and the bread was golden brown and ready to be munched on. The tator tots had the perfect texture. It's almost as I had food from some amazing restaurant, which, hello, I did The place was packed, since it was Fiesta, but I imagine it always is. It sucks I live 45 minutes from this great establishment. The atmosphere was fun and a little country, but I love that. It's casual, and not some elegant place like Lucky's is. Wow, truly one of the best restaurants ever. First time coming to this restaurant and I'll definitely be back. As soon as you walk in the service and ambiance is truly inviting and welcoming. The service was over the top, the ladies were so kind and helpful. We called over the phone 5 minutes before to check for waiting time and as soon as we arrived the table was set up. Everything on the menu is absolutely delicious and fresh. The soup and salad side dishes are very tasty. We tried the bolognese pasta, tastes very homemade. We went for happy hour on a Friday night, was suggested to us by a very nice local. Server told us to sit down by a mirror, when we were about to sit, he told us to sit somewhere else. Steak bites, fried chicken and mash, tater tots, Brussel sprouts and the potato skins. Happy hour prices are only $1 or $2 less than the regular menu price. So...do with that info what you will. The food came out really fast. Under 10 minutes, that's for sure. Everything was really good. I really liked the Brussels, and the potato skins. The steak bites were good. I will say; there is a dill something going on in the chicken. I'm not a huge fan of dill, so that's a me thing. Overall a good dinner. My partner and I are locals here in Santa Barbara and Jill's place has always been a great place to eat and have a great experience overall. The other night when my partner and I decided to have a staycation, we came across Jill's place as always, but unfortunately, the patio had been cleaned up and we had our French bulldog with us at first we did not want to inconvenience anyone but the staff there was very persistent that they are OK with us going inside with our dog and that just goes to show how amazing there customer service was ! They definitely saw two hungry customers ! lol The food was amazing! The staff was so wonderful! On this #ThankYou Thursday my gratitude goes to Jill's Place and the hardworking staff here. I can always count on Karch to hook me up with the JP margarita, and the food is always delicious. Lately, it's the mini sliders and garlic fries that I've been ordering. They are the perfect bite sized burgers offered on their happy hour menu. This happens to be my top favorite place in town for happy hour! I came here on a Wednesday night for a gathering to send off one of our fellow coworkers who got a new job. We had a very large party, and luckily there was plenty of room to seat all of us. Normally reservations are recommended for a large party, but since it was slower during the weekday we got lucky! The staff kindly took our orders and everyone enjoyed themselves. I especially appreciated how we were able to get our own tab. It can get complicated with big parties, so that was a plus! Happy Hour time has changed from 4-6pm and prices have increased a little, but still very reasonable compared to other places in town. We ended the meal with a slice of carrot cake sent over by Jill that was so moist and decadent!!! Service: Sandy and Erica were as sweet as pie and were so attentive. The dishes were brought out with timed efficiency which allowed for a comfortable and easy flow. All this was done with a smile and kind words. The owner Jill took time out to visit our table, talk and spend time with us. She was down to earth and so personable. 10/10 would highly, highly recommend. This little gem is now one of the many reason I love Santa Barbara. Oh and side note: the bathroom had the dopest photos of Jill on horseback and a tissue container by the door so I didn't have to touch the handle with my hands. My OCD heart soared in happiness. We've eaten at this small neighborhood eatery twice. The first time we were so impressed by the food, drinks, ambience, and service that we decided to make it a regular dining spot. We returned 2 weeks later but didn't have the same, "OMG I love this place!" experience. All the same servers were there, but they weren't as attentive even though the restaurant was only half full.
