Mexican lager was solid and great place to watch sports on their TVs. Love that it is dog friendly and plenty of seating inside and outside. Service was great and let me sample the beer before purchasing it.

Great place to sit and enjoy the weather over some beers. Watched football while waiting for my wife to shop. Beers were great. We decided to eat here. The bbq chicken pizza was some of the best I've ever had. Really liked it.

I'm not big on beer but my boyfriend is a big Guinness fan. They have a coffee stout here that he said was absolutely delicious!! Their happy hour has good deals and the energy here is super nice and social! I'm glad we stopped here for a little drink while walking around

My favorite spot in town. Went for their twelve year anniversary party and had the special beer . Sat in the beer garden at the fire pit listening to music. Best pizza and salads in town also.!

We took a weekend trip to Santa Barbara and our friends recommended this place! We visited on a Friday night and there was lots of seating, they even have a back room. They have a bunch of tv's playing sports games, clean bathrooms, and board games for people to play. Very dog-friendly too. We ordered a couple beers (I forgot what they were named sorry) and a full pizza. We were able to do 2 types of toppings, the chicken sandwich and the hot honey bacon. This pizza can easily fill 3 people, it's really heavy! It was delicious though, and their ranch is really good. Their service was also good, kind employees who checked in on us often.

    - Locale Destination - It's on E Costa st and State st in Santa Barbara. Ambiance: open, modern, casual Menu: bunch of beers and pizza Service: quick - Gluttony Expedition - White walls: citrus, smooth, nice body - anyone who isn't fond of too light beer, this is great! - Conqueror's Deduction - They offer good quality! There are so many breweries, but this is a good one! I wanna try more.

Stopped by Validation Ale on a warm fall night with friends, and it was just what we needed. We tried their IPA, which was crisp and flavorful, and enjoyed the laid back vibe. The friendly staff and cozy outdoor seating made it a perfect spot to relax. Definitely a place I'd visit again. I can't say enough about this place. My husband and I had our rehearsal dinner here with 25+ people. The manager made the process of booking so easy, we rented out the back room and placed our food order prior. Everything went SO smoothly and the service was amazing we had a bar tender just tending to us. The food was bomb and drinks were definitely flowing! We will definitely be back just to hang!

It was my first time at Institution Ale in Santa Barbara. The service was fine, and the ambiance was very basic and simple--it would be better with a more interesting design. The beer wasn't bad, but nothing special. We had heard that the food was good, but we didn't get a chance to try it. Overall, it wasn't bad, but there are better places.

Nice open space on Main Street. There is seating outside in the front, inside and space in the back that was having a party. We ordered the pretzels, 2 Mexican Lager and Tri-Tip pizza for $65. The pizza was spicy and the beer was clean. I really enjoyed the pretzels even though I asked for double cheese instead of the mustard but didn't get it. Decklen was serving and doing a great job.

This is the 2nd time we've been to Institution Ale SB, although we've been frequenting Institution since they first started in their teeny space down near CSUCI. The SB staff are always incredibly friendly which always makes for a great experience. The atmosphere of the SB location has a nice chill feel where you can just truly relax, breathe in that salty ocean air, enjoy a bite to eat, and sip on some of the best beers in California. They have a nice beer garden adjacent to their building, but if you choose to sit inside, the windows are all open so you still get that fresh air. They have some fun arcade games in back and a shelf with boardgames up front. There's a cooler with 4-packs ready to go as well as a Crowler / Growler fill station. Merch selection is also on point as always. We love all of their beers, but yesterday I was particularly digging their California Common; so much so that I had to leave with a 4-pack. If you haven't been to Institution, you're missing out!

I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about the entire experience. We were looking for a laid-back and unique venue, and Brass Bear absolutely delivered. From start to finish, the team (especially Emily!) went above and beyond to make our day perfect. The space itself is welcoming and full of character, while also feeling elevated and thoughtfully designed. We actually saved a lot on decor because the venue was already so beautiful on its own. The top things that really set Brass Bear apart (aside from the space itself) were the staff and the food/drinks. The staff -- Every single person we worked with was kind, responsive, professional, and genuinely invested in making sure everything ran smoothly and that it was truly the party of our dreams. They were incredibly accommodating, handled logistics seamlessly, and anticipated needs before we even had to ask. It honestly felt like they cared about our wedding just as much as we did. Also throughout the evening, on their own, the amazing staff checked in on me and the groom, seeing if we wanted a drink refill or a cup of water. The food-- Hands down the best menu we sampled while choosing a reception venue. We wanted a place that would have a spread guests would talk about long after the event, and for months afterward our friends and family were still bringing up the tri-tip and how good everything tasted. Not only was the main food insanely delicious, the welcome charcuterie table was put together beautifully with so many options. The drinks -- The open bar was fantastic! Brass Bear offered a great variety of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks as part of their open bar, the flow of guests being served at multiple bar stations stayed steady all evening with no bottlenecks, and they even helped me create a custom cocktail to match my purple hair. I also probably emailed (literally) a thousand questions throughout the planning process, and every single one was met with a kind, thoroughly explained answer, or a "let's see if we can make that work!" response, which made the planning feel like a breeze and really fun. If you're considering Brass Bear Brewery for a wedding, celebration, or any special event, do not hesitate. They helped create memories we'll treasure forever, and we are SO grateful we chose them. Highly, highly, highly recommend.

It might not be as trendy as other breweries in the Funk Zone area, but I don't care. Quiet and laid back was the vibe we needed! I love that they are located in an old Spanish looking house. Beautiful outdoor options, charming, quiet, great to enjoy a meal at! I don't care for their indoor area - with TV-s playing game and lacking decor. Service was great, friendly, Sam took care of us, he was nice, kind, attentive! Had their Mac Brown, a darker nice beer, smooth and started our feast with their nachos, we added chicken on which was a great decision since it was marinated and freshly grilled, you could taste the nice flavors right away. Great guacamole in top, a fun dish! We continued with the fried dill pickles (they come with Ranch and Sriracha sauce), very nice, had fried pickles before (in the South) and they were too greasy. Not here, crisp and tasty, lightly breaded. We finished with the onion rings tower, panko crusted, delicious flavor! They have locations in Ventura and Carpinteria! Great food and beer, nice service, very chill and relaxing. Rincon proved me right, gave us the fun, laid back experience we needed! Cheers to that, Mac Brown in hand!
