Can't beat the ambiance of the Speakeasy during the holidays. The thousands of ornaments lining the ceiling, live music, and fun drinks provide a great environment to spend time with friends. The decorations around the property are also festive this time of year. I think the pricing is fair, because you are also paying for the experience. The service is good, but falls short of similar hotel restaurants in this class (rosewood, ojai valley inn). Would gladly come back.

Vegan and vegetarian options. Yay. They have a gluten-free bread unfortunately it's not vegan. Olives and radishes are brought to each table along with bread at dinner time The dinner menu upstairs and down in the garden is the same. It's very expensive as one appetizer can be $29. Food was good but I ate better for a third of the price in Italy last week. Our bill before tip was about $350. That was one appetizer, one side, three main courses , a dessert, (assuming one was comped for birthday) two drinks and a glass of wine The garden setting is magical and I love the table we had for three. It's wonderful that they have a musician playing the guitar and singing songs outside as you enter. The music wafts into the seating area but not too loud just perfect The ranch is magical. The service was excellent The smoked table side drinks were more about the experience versus having a different taste When they brought the balsamic vinegar, that we had asked for, it was dripping down the side so it stains tablecloth immediately. Quite messy I would recommend they put it on a small plate. I come here for the ambience.

The sommelier is always spot-on with recommendations.

Put this on your Bucket List. The outdoor seating is elegant and nuanced with casual romance. The wine list is unparalleled; every employee is helpful and friendly...the service is top-notch. The food is delicious; creative without being pretentious. This is our family's "go-to" for dinner. You will need a reservation.

Bananas foster dessert with a sweet message for us! Thank you staff!

Delicious food, beautiful ambiance, accommodating staff. Recommend the halibut and the steak Dianne. Impeccable! Thank you for making our little Babymoon celebration dinner one to remember. We will definitely be back and try to stay at the property!

Birthday wine is the best wine...

I was taken to Plow and Angel for dinner to celebrate my birthday and absolutely loved the experience. Naturally we chose to sit outside rather than indoors. The patio area is lovely and beyond romantic. Replete with lights strung through the branches of the trees and an antique kerosene lamp at each table. After looking through the extensive wine list of San Ysidro Ranch, offered also at Stonehouse, we went with Fiddlehead Cellars' 2010 FiddleStix Pino Noir. Quite tasty. And now it was time to deliberate our preeminent cuisine. Plow and Angel patrons are most fortunate to have the ability/luxury to order from the Stonehouse menu as well. Lucky us. We began with the Octopus starter, and it was divine. Difficult to share, I might add. Thankfully I was able to manage, considering I wanted to save plenty of room for our entrees. We were both eyeing the Steak Diane(a favorite on the Stonehouse menu) so we decided to share it. The burger sounded good, and in my quest to find the best burgers in the SB area, we chose it to share as well. Lisa, who attended us for the evening, flambéd the sauce for our steak, table side. What a sight. She sautéed cremini mushrooms in butter then poured in some brandy and WOOSH up went the flames. Oh my, so good. The burger was decent, but didn't make my Top Three list. The chocolate cake for my BDay wish was just the right touch. Far above all, was the romantic feel of the place. Thanks to this, along with the wine, cuisine and company, it was the most enjoyable BDay dinner to date. Not sure how next year could top this, but I'm sure it will;)

Is there a way on yelp to add more stars to my rating? I'd like to give this place 8 stars. First of all, the property is incredible. There's a calm sense of grandeur at the San Ysidro Ranch. Everything is just .... beautiful. There's no other word for it. Ok the food. Order consisted of - Mac and Cheese appetizer, Prime New York Steak and Butter Poached Lobster. The Mac and Cheese was incredible. Yeah I know, so and so's grandma makes the best. Bla bla bla. While that may be true, the SYR's Mac and cheese is really, really, really really good. 4 cheese sauce, crispy cheesy top, served in a cast iron skillet. And it's got proscuttio in it. It's ridiculous. It's really really quite good. The NY Steak was cooked perfectly. Dry aged prime... YUM. It came with mashed potatos and a cognac peppery sauce. I'm usually not one for sauces with steak - but it was delicious nonetheless. And it's a great deal at $32 The Lobster dish knocked it out of the ballpark. Butter poached lobster served on a risotto in a heirloom tomato...sauce...thing, a little meyer lemon beurre blanc and garnished with pea shoots. This is one of the best things i've ever eaten. Incredible. Service is excellent, and the whole experience here is just really special. Wow.

Nothing special. Instead, go to their other restaurant, stone house, so you can sit outside and enjoy the beautiful setting. This restaurant has only inside sitting and it is sooooo dark. I felt like I was in cellar or underground. Not really pleasant when it is 75 degrees outside which is a typical so ca weather. The service, of course, is excellent. But they try to over sell more expensive items on the menu. Food is ok. Would only come back to the other restaurant. Felt like a 2nd grade citizen sitting inside with no lights. But, I do realize, it is a personal thing.

Had an amazing evening at San Ysidro Ranch w/ great friends. Definitely get there during daylight to take a stroll around -- the grounds, landscaping, and flowers are so beautiful; peeked into a few of the historic cottages, which were very cool, too. We intended to have happy hour at Plow & Angel, but learned that the "Angel Hour" is just 5-6 pm Mon-Thur., and it was Friday, so just ordered some cocktails and appetizers. Everything was wonderful. We ordered 4 appetizers for the 4 of us, and they were all great -- the grilled artichoke (my favorite), the Ranch mac & cheese w/ prosciutto and 4 cheeses (really good), a unique flatbread w/ chicken, mushrooms, jalepeno, cilantro and smoked gouda, and lamb sliders w/ feta (wow - so juicy, too). Ordered a few cocktails, but our favorites were the Blood Orange Margarita and the Ruby Red vodka martini (so fresh and tasty). Our Nashville friend really enjoyed their Manhattans, too, which I think were called "Originals." Service was wonderful; setting was just stunning, and as an added plus, had a table of beautiful Hollywood celebrities seated right next to us! Definitely want to come back w/ my husband next time I'm in the area for a special night out.

This was my first time here and I loved it. It was everything I read about it and more. It was cozy and romantic which is exactly what I was looking for. The staff was very friendly and attentive and the food was delicious and the drinks were great. I wish we would have arrived earlier to be able to sit out on the patio and enjoy the beautiful gardens, but can't complain about the cozy fireplace. It was the perfect place to celebrate a special someone on her birthday!! And I would recommend it to all!!

What is the dress code for dinner at this restaurant?

Dressy. Though as california style dressy can be linens .. Not jeans. Not trainers. Nice shoes. Note- Is one of the more expensive restaurants which usually equates to put in some effort in the attire

Little Mountain

We've only been to Little Mountain once, but I can already tell we'll be back with some regularity,…read moredespite the small inconvenience of living in L.A. It's a new restaurant, very popular, and we failed to get reservations the first couple times we wanted to go. We managed to snag one for 5:45 on a random Monday and enjoyed an early dinner on the sunlit patio. Matt B. grew up in Montecito and remembered this space--in the Upper Village next to Pierre Lafond--as a casual Italian restaurant. Little Mountain is more upscale, attractively built out with an on-trend dining room and moody bar, but the vibe is relaxed, maybe particularly on the patio. You don't need a special occasion to visit, and we even learned that the full menu is available at the bar, which is reserved for walk-ins. Service was excellent, friendly and helpful. Not formal, but attentive at a pretty high level. There was an interesting cocktail list, and we indulged in a couple of rounds. Every drink was fantastic. The Mission Canyon was zippy and refreshing, with gin, amaro, pineapple, and pink peppercorn. The Picante Fumar was margarita with tequila, lemon drop pepper, pineapple, and lime, with a black salt rim. From the Hearth was a juicy whiskey cocktail with bourbon, grilled fruit compote, lemon, and smoke. Pluck the Day was boozy but bright, with rye, Strawberry Thief brandy, strawberry, and saffron. The food was outstanding, some of the best I've had in Santa Barbara. We started with the country sourdough with house cultured butter, an Oat Bakery loaf swirled black with charcoal. We then shared three crudos. Our agreed-upon favorite was the hiramasa and manzano pepper with satsuma aguachile, an absolute knockout. The hiramasa, or yellowtail amberjack, was fresh and firm and silky, and it came in a vibrant green aguachile sauce with a heap of cilantro and thinly sliced onion or shallot on top. I may have had spoonfuls of the sauce after the fish was gone. I also loved the Santa Barbara spiny lobster with ajo blanco and hummingbird sage, the bouncy bites of spiny lobster blanketed in a creamy white almond sauce decorated with edible flowers. The weak link was the Santa Barbara halibut with daikon and nori, but even that was objectively good. It was just a little more muted than the other two, and the halibut was cut thicker and chewier than my personal preference. We went with the bone-in pork chop for our main course, and it was astoundingly delicious. The pork was so tender, so flavorful, quite possibly the best pork chop we've ever had anywhere. It came with coal-roasted apple, Swiss chard, and a sweet, vinegary sauce that tied everything together. We also ordered a side of grilled radishes with macadamia nuts and clothbound cheddar. It was, to my surprise, served cold, a lovely, unusual salad. For dessert, we ordered a small dish of sweet cream ice cream with blossom sabayon, light and aromatic, a great way to clinch this wonderful meal. We spend a lot of time in Montecito and can't wait to go back to Little Mountain. We'll be back for that hiramasa and pork chop at the earliest opportunity.

The space is beautifully designed, with multiple seating areas that each have their own feel, and the service was a standout--warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming throughout the night. Veronica, our server did a great job For dinner, my wife had the trout, I ordered the pork chop, and we shared the rice. The rice was the biggest miss--fairly basic, mostly sticky rice with a light sprinkle of sesame seeds, and not something we'd order again. The pork chop and trout were both solid and well-prepared, and we did finish both dishes, but neither one stood out in a way that would make us want to order them again--even at a lower price point. The menu leans into creative and unique flavor combinations, which we appreciated in concept, but in execution they didn't quite come together in a way that felt special or crave-worthy. Nothing on the dessert menu pulled us in either, so we passed. Overall, it was an interesting one-time experience, and we're glad we tried it. That said, given the cost and the fact that none of the dishes left a lasting impression, it's not a place we'd likely return to.

We only went because we needed somewhere to get lunch for a party of six on Thanksgiving Day and the first couple places we thought to call were closed. We realized we might have better luck with hotel restaurants and were relieved when someone at the Revere Room picked up the phone. We said we'd be there in about half an hour and asked if we should make a reservation, and the person on the line said there was no need, as we should be able to walk in. I was pretty annoyed when we showed up as promised and the restaurant was completely full. Like I understand that the staff can't predict what will happen between noon and 12:30 on Thanksgiving Day, but this did seem foreseeable, and they should have taken our name down since we'd told them we were coming. I told the host what had happened, and she just kind of smiled and acted like she hadn't heard me. No apology, and we waited, with two young kids and their grandparents, for forty minutes. Service was fine once we sat down, and the patio setting was nice. The menu was basic California coastal, nothing exciting but something for everyone. I got the Central Coast Cobb, a hearty salad with Santa Ynez greens, grilled organic chicken breast, crispy bacon, Munak Ranch soft boiled egg, avocado, tomato, goat cheese, and honey dijon vinaigrette. I liked it, and it kept me full enough until Thanksgiving dinner. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back to the Revere Room, which feels like it mostly exists to feed hotel guests. I'm glad we had somewhere to go with my parents and kids, though, even if they were snooty about making us wait.

When our Lyft arrived, employees rushed over to open the doors, and when we asked where the restaurant was, the front desk employee actually stepped away from the desk to personally point us in the right direction. The walk to the restaurant is a bit long since it overlooks the beach, but it was a beautiful night and ended up feeling relaxing and special. (Particularly on the way back when we were full from the tasting menu) I just wouldn't wear uncomfy heels. One interesting touch: we overheard the hostess offering another couple the option to put their phones away for the evening so they could fully experience dinner distraction-free. I ended up keeping mine away too and honestly enjoyed being more present during the meal. As a side note, another couple took photos of every meal and there didn't appear to be a stigma regardless. We did the tasting menu, and our waiter was fantastic with recommendations. All the staff was great, honestly. What stood out most to me compared to other Michelin-starred restaurants I've visited was the focus on seasonal ingredients and vegetables. That night featured Harry's berries and asparagus throughout several dishes. My favorite was probably the burrata with Harry's berries and rhubarb. There are quite a few optional upgrades throughout the tasting menu, including caviar and upgraded steak options, but we only added the chocolate bar selection at the end, which was excellent. I also appreciated the atmosphere. You could hear the waves crashing through the open doors, but it still stayed warm and comfortable inside. The noise level was lively without being overwhelming, and the recently added piano really elevated the experience. Some dishes seemed to sing to the symphony. Overall, I wouldn't say it was the best meal I've ever had, but I absolutely would return. Several dishes highlighted the ingredients so beautifully that I'd love to come back during another season to try a different menu. Solid experience and felt more or less felt worth the price.

We went back a few weeks ago, for Matt's 43rd birthday, and found a completely different restaurant. I guess at some point, San Ysidro Ranch went all-inclusive, and Stonehouse started serving a mostly captive clientele: hotel guests who've already paid for dinner. This is fine if you're staying at the Ranch, but if you remember The Stonehouse as a fancy special occasion restaurant with a high level of service, your impression is out of date. The astronomical prices may suggest otherwise, but keep in mind that most diners aren't really paying those anyway. We went on a drizzly Tuesday night and sat inside, missing out on the scenic patio. The dining room was nice, though, very stately, and as parents ourselves, we were not put out by the number of children in the room, the families sitting down for a casual weeknight dinner. We were surprised, though, when we tried to order drinks and our waiter asked to see our IDs. My husband presented his license, which showed very clearly that it was his 43rd birthday. The waiter had no comment on this, and instead turned his attention to me, Matt's 40-year-old wife. I didn't have ID on me, and he refused to take my drink order. We weren't about to have an expensive birthday dinner without alcohol, so we got up to drive home and pick up my license. But first, I decided to try my luck with a manager. Because look, I understand that I should've had my wallet, but also, I hadn't been carded at a restaurant in years. I told this to the manager, and suggested they tell customers in advance to make sure to bring ID. Instead of explaining that he needed to be careful because The Stonehouse served families with teenagers, he said it was the law, and that every restaurant should be carding aggressively. This was so disingenuous I more or less asked if he'd ever been to a restaurant. I also offered to show him a scan of my passport and the picture Matt and I took at The Stonehouse the night we got engaged in 2012, well after I turned seven. He relented, and we were reseated without having to produce my license. I didn't hold any of this against our waiter, but we were assigned a new one anyway, and received middling service for the duration of our meal. For one thing, we asked for help picking a bottle from the massive wine book, and it took the somm an actual half hour to pay us a visit. We were done with our appetizers and had checked in with our waiter twice by the time he made his way over. The other annoyance was that no one acknowledged Matt's birthday, despite the time we spent litigating birthdays, during which I mentioned quite pointedly that we were there for his 43rd. I even told a server who checked in on me before dessert while Matt was in the bathroom, and he said he'd make sure there was a candle in our tart. Not the end of the world, but this did not happen. The drinks, when we got them, were great, starting with cocktails, which almost tided us over until we received our wine. These were $33 a pop and kind of ridiculous, smoked tableside with a showy gadget. The Negroni Tropicale was made with grilled pineapple-infused No. 3 dry gin, Campari, Carpano Antica, and orange zest, then smoked with pecan wood. The French Quarter mixed Bardstown Ferrand Cognac-cask bourbon, Zaya 16-year rum, Benedictine, oloroso sherry, dry vermouth, and orange bitters, and was smoked with bourbon oak wood. For wine, we got a bottle of 2020 Vietti Monvigliero Barolo. This was excellent, and also a bit of a win. The bottle was barely marked up from retail, and we'll never know if The Stonehouse has exceptionally favorable wine prices or we were served the wrong vintage on accident. Food was solid, starting with Maine lobster salad in tiny phyllo cups, a nice welcome bite. Bread basket came with pumpkin seed lavash pumpkin seed, sourdough, and rice flour rolls, with olive oil for dipping. We enjoyed a half-dozen oysters with pickled Asian pear mignonette, and Japanese yellowtail crudo with pixie tangerine, purple radish, seagrass, and shiro dashi vinaigrette. Acorn squash agnolotti were lovely, with black truffle, toasted pecans, morel mushrooms, and a goat cheese fondue. The duck a l'orange came with a show, the sauce flambéed tableside on portable burner. A lot of magic tricks on this menu, perhaps for the kids. The duck breast was good, though, over barley pilaf with Tokyo turnips, herbes de Provence, Cara Cara orange, and Grand Marnier. The herb-crusted rack of lamb was decent too, served with lamb sausage, Tuscan kale, crispy polenta, and violet mustard. For dessert, we shared the orchard Meyer lemon tart with blueberry compote and wildflower honey and lavender Chantilly. The food was a strong A-, but not worth the money or the sub-par experience. Unless you're staying on property, avoid The Stonehouse.
