Stopped by the Rodeo Room in Santa Barbara for a few cocktails and some gastro pub favorites. The wings were on point, the smash burger delivered, and the dark, cool vibe made for a great night out. Definitely worth a stop.

Rodeo Room never disappoints. Dark, moody, intimate... trendy music, great strong drinks. Best grilled cheese sandwiches I've had in awhile. Bartenders were friendly and attentive!

Went here on a whim after we visited a friend nearby. Been seeing it on my radar and a few of our Yelp friends gave it rave reviews, so we finally tried it. Got there right as it opened, which incidentally was during happy hour. Original plan was to just get a round of drinks and some tacos (got a Classic Old Fashioned and carnitas tacos) but ended up getting two rounds of each instead because the food and drinks were so tasty. The Old Fashioned was basic but executed at a high level. The tacos just tasted sublime. 10/10 would recommend.

Stopped here on Halloween night before hitting State street. They sat us in their back patio which I had never seen, it was small but cute (& much better than all the loudness inside). I really like the drinks and bites here! Minus one star because we ordered the Saigon wings and to my unpleasant surprise there was ranch heavily drizzled on them. This was nowhere stated on the menu or else I wouldn't have ordered them. Believe it or not, not everyone likes ranch!!

Ube cocktail and happy hour tacos with carnitas

I came here for the first time about a week ago and had their Ube cocktail with their happy hour tacos. Honestly, everything was impressive. The drink was frothy yet quenching; I would definitely order again. I ordered the tacos with carnitas (but they did offer cauliflower as an alternative, which I appreciated) and they were actually very filling and had a good flavor. I also really enjoyed the vibe of this place, it was giving gothic rodeo. The service was on point and they checked in on us multiple times. Overall, a good place to grab a drink and snack during the week.

Good Morning Vietnam, Laid Back (I think?)

I absolutely LOVED my Good Morning Vietnam (viet coffee twist on an espresso martini) and we also later tried the Manila Ice which I also loved (the ube flavor came through just perfectly) Only docking one star because the music selection was a bit strange, transitioning from rock to Clairo to 2000s pop.... and felt a bit too loud if sitting inside. They do have a quieter outdoor seating area which is a bit small though!

The new bartender here is a misogynist. Ladies I would not recommend coming here. I saw that he made comments to coworkers about women and other employees were smiling and laughing. I would say the food is ok. The wings were not served hot. I will not be visiting this establishment ever again.

La Vie en Rose and The Abuelita

The place may be hard to find at night because there isn't a giant sign that says "Rodeo Bar." Look for the "Restaurant" sign and Rodeo Bar is next door. Speakeasy feels with a laidback dim-lit atmosphere. Cozy, small, intimate, and perfect for conversing. Seating: indoor, at the bar, and small outdoor patio. The Abuelita ($16): Resposado, mezcal, thyme, mole bitters. A different variation of the classic old fashioned. The mezcal provides a smokiness to the drink. It's a strong straight forward sipping drink. La Vie en Rose ($15): Vodka, coconut, rose, guava, lime, almond. Love this! There's a nice balance of the flavors and sweetness/tartness. Perfect for an after dinner drink - like a dessert. If you aren't careful you may order two of these (it's that good). The bartenders and service were friendly. They also have a small food menu, which unfortunately I didn't get to try. Overall I would come back if I'm ever in the area.

This could be the dumbest restaurant concept of all time. It's literally the darkest restaurant I've ever been in. I love a dark restaurant, but I do like to see the people I'm with and the food I'm eating. I can't "see" myself ever going back.

The craft cocktails are so elevated they are in another stratosphere. They are complex and the garnishes even are next level. Yet, you must order food because what the kitchen produces matches the heights of the drinks. Best Brussels sprouts we've tasted in years; the steak is amazing and smash burger is so splittable!

The cocktails are highly creative, diverse in flavor and design, and really could stand up to any you would find at a top cocktail bar in a major city. The exterior doesn't scream "must come in" but you absolutely should. Is it a tiki bar? Yes, but in the best way. And the bartender deserves applause for pulling off 3+ quite complex cocktails every 5 minutes off of memory and without any support.

In a stretch of Lower State packed with breweries, wine bars, and roaming weekend energy-drink humans in vintage bowling shirts, it threads the needle nicely between cocktail bar and tropical escape pod. The menu leans tiki-adjacent rather than deep-cut exotica, but the drinks are smartly built and avoid the "every problem can be solved with more rum" philosophy. There's a solid spread of spirits across the board, which makes the place feel more welcoming to a broader nightlife crowd instead of strictly rum disciples clutching vintage Trader Vic's mugs. The Oaxacan Dead was the standout for me. Smoky, balanced, endlessly sippable. One of those drinks where every sip quietly talks you into ordering another without turning into a sugar avalanche. The Jungle Bird was also great, though presented more in the direction of a Negroni than the punchier tropical versions you usually see. Bitter, restrained, and easy to settle into. Crowd-wise, things tilted a little frat-floaty as the night rolled on, but the staff handled everything smoothly and kept the vibe from turning into full pirate mutiny. Service stayed friendly and composed even when the volume of the room started climbing like a malfunctioning theremin. Big bonus points for the location and outdoor seating. Being right in the middle of Lower State makes it an easy launch point or final stop depending on your evening trajectory. Grab a drink, people-watch, drift between breweries and wine spots, repeat as necessary.

Honestly... save your money…read more I dropped by this Jordanian restaurant /hookah lounge to chill for a bit, have a beer, and enjoy some hookah. It looked like a cool vibe from the outside, but the whole experience left me super disappointed. When I walked in, the place was empty--just the owner and two staff. No greeting, no welcome, just awkward silence while the owner stayed on the phone trying to fix what sounded like a billing issue. The staff didn't speak much English (which is fine), but there was no real effort to help or explain anything either. Eventually, I got a hookah and a beer--$48.50 for one hookah and one beer. Yeah... nearly $50. No food, no extras. That's wild. Then I was told I had to smoke outside on the back patio, which turned out to be a tiny little corner--maybe 6 by 10 feet--with uncomfortable chairs and a random wood bench. It took 15 minutes to even get the hookah (remember, no one else was there), and when it arrived, it was totally burnt. Overpacked, harsh hits, and I ended up having to scrape it and fix it myself just to get it to smoke right. Wanna know the kicker? You only get three coals. That's it. No refills unless you pay for more. No one checked on us for almost an hour, and when I finally asked for more coals, they said (in broken English and mostly Spanish) that that's all you get unless you pay extra. I've smoked hookah all over the place--three coals is nothing, especially when you're charging $35+. No one came around, no vibe, no music, no nothing. Just me, my burnt hookah, and a beer that wasn't even cold. I really tried to find something redeeming about this place, but nothing hit. The service wasn't there, the product wasn't good, and it honestly felt like I was bothering them just by being there. Bottom line: for $50, you can do way better just about anywhere else--or even at home. Hope they turn it around, but for now, I wouldn't recommend it.

The crispy tuna nigiri was my favorite appetizer. Super fresh with perfectly crispy rice. We also loved the firecracker rock shrimp, which was light and crispy without being oily. We got the sauce on the side so the spice was totally manageable. But the GARLIC NOODLES!! Easily some of the best I've ever had. Also all of the little things were done well, crisp menus, clean bathrooms, and music done at just the right sound level. Their menu in the bar area for food is small but mighty - oysters, cheese plates, you name it. I'm definitely going to keep coming here for the cocktails. When we arrived on a Tuesday evening, there were about seven patrons throughout the bar and the outdoor seating area with the live music drew us in. We were told to order at the bar, so while the rest of our party was seated, I stood there for five minutes before someone took my order. Totally fine, but no sorry for the wait or even smile or any warmth from the male bartender, who disappeared for a five minute break shortly after taking my order. The tables at the outdoor seating area were very sticky and since there were no employees in sight I (and the other patrons who arrived then) cleaned the tables ourselves. After waiting 10 minutes I went up to the bar and assumed since our drinks hadn't been delivered, I was supposed to pick them up, I was told don't worry, we'll bring them to you, and after another five minutes, our drinks arrived. The cocktails were decent, nothing revolutionary but I am spoiled in this department, well made but nothing to get excited about . After 30 minutes of enjoying the genuinely nice outdoor area we ordered another round, three shots took another 10+ minutes. When we realized we had to leave to make our reservation, we asked for a box for our untouched food, and we were told we don't have boxes. They ended up finding one for For us, but it appeared to be a pastry box from somewhere else. The female bartender who took over after the male clocked out, was much more personable, but not much more efficient. To their credit, this bar has an excellent selection of tequilas and Mezcal's, so if you're not in a rush and you enjoy those spirits it's definitely worth stopping by. The music was really great and was definitely the highlight of that bar.
