The carnitas here are really good. I had them on their Cubano torta and also on the nachos. Guac is good as well. I'd skip the asada, was kinda chewy. They give you a lot of food and doesn't cost too much. Also in walking distance to a lot of the hotels close to the marina, State St, and the pier. read more

My family has been going to Rudy's for so long that they recognize us when we go. We just got an order for pick up and my food is so cold that it seems like they put the enchiladas together then put them straight into the container. Didn't even cook it/warm it up. My grandmas taquitos didn't come with all of the side items. Then we called and there was no sorry or anything. All the employee said was "we serve warm food" and then it changed to "well we get busy sometimes and maybe the cooks forgot something. So that's their fault" Never going back... Food was impeccable. I've never seen such a beautiful display. They make sure it looks as good as it tastes. It is a smaller and not too fancy of a spot. Food was okay, we ordered the carne asada burrito which had no flavor the asada was mainly all fat in it. I got the chicken salsa verde enchiladas which came with rice and beans, that was alright. Portions are large and the bar is stacked with salsas , the most medium salsa tasted like had no spice at all. The chips were okay with the salsa but I was too full from the enchiladas. We ordered a cheese enchilada which was super huge also and very greasy. Service was fast, there was no one eating there until we got there about three couples came in then some orders were to go. I was very disappointed on my last visit yesterday. I brought my cousin and aunt on the train to celebrate their birthdays and have a meal at Rudy's. The food tasted like old cooking oil and made us all get a stomachache. Not only was I mortified but I ended up with a stomachache the rest of my train trip. All I can think of is they lost cooks or they don't care about their quality anymore. We ordered a variety of food and spent over $100 with our big group. They do not have a Tuesday taco specials. I came here to try their crispy taco but also decided to try out Rudy's Burger. We took our order to go, so the crispy Taco was not very crispy. But the taco did have a lot of cheese and shredded lettuce. The taco had really dry meat, and for some reason I had a toothpick inside my taco. I guess I should feel fortunate that I eat like a grandma at times. As I was slowly chewing my taco I noticed some hard pieces, which I originally thought were the super dry meat until I spat it out and noticed it was actually toothpicks. Had I been super hungry and tried to scarf down my food I would have poked /staked myself with those toothpick pieces. The meat didn't seem like they flavored it but it might be they want you to eat with their different salsas. The burger was good, but nothing special about it. I would rather go elsewhere for the burger. I was hoping the burger would be like Cal taco, good burger in a Mexican restaurant. If I try Rudy's again, most likely won't be this location due to the toothpicks found in my taco. read more

Horrible attitudes and customer service. Employees don't value or care about their long time customers. We spend about $80 as a family of 5 everytime we go and go about at least 1-2 a week! No cut off time for breakfast on their menu and my daughter wanted a omelet. They refused to make it even though they had all the ingredients and equipment to be able to accommodate us. But refused to simply because they didn't want to make it. Even though they've known us for 10+ years. They very clearly expressed they didn't care with their attitude and body language and since they still get paid by the hr they didn't give AF. They were willing to loose out on an $80+ sale, and about $320+ a month customer over an omelet and didn't think twice about it. So we took our valued money and business else where. These days with everything being so expensive, it's not just about the food anymore. It's about the service and value you give to your customers. And we weren't valued as long time customers. So we took our hard earned money to where we are valued. Definitely not going back after how we were treated especially being very long time customers. Here's our receipt of where we went and what Rudy's lost out on. Maybe if more people who get treated like this cut them off the owners will notice where it makes a difference. My wife wanted to try this place for breakfast over what I suggested so of course we came here. This place was basically across the street from our hotel room so it was nearby. When we got there, no one was there so we were there only customer. My wife got the Chilaquiles and I got the #3 breakfast burrito. I didn't enjoy my burrito and it was very greasy. My hand was basically covered in oil after the first bite. My wife enjoyed her Chilaquiles. We ate outside to enjoy the Santa Barbara weather. read more

Well it's a self serve fast food place with the price of a full service restaurant. $94.00 bucks for family of four and food too high priced for dirty tables and the creepy feel of the place (4 beers at $5.00 a piece not bad for Corona's, sorry no margarita's here!). The food was a 4 out of 5, but the place overall is like a 2.5 stars. I will say the portions are huge and could be split between two people to reduce the overall bill. They ran out of plates so had to eat my meal out of a Styrofoam box. Rest of our family scored with real plates. Food utensils were cheap plasticware handed out in plastic shrink bags. Channeling a Taco Bell feel here. The only way we would come back is to buy the food for carry out and run away to our hotel down the street to eat (bring our own cold bottle of Costco Margarita's to complete the meal). read more

The chili relleno tasted so fresh and had a little crunch so they didn't cook it too long. Wife ordered a chile verde burrito which was very good. Both burritos had plenty of filling and worth the money. We also ordered potato taquitos. You don't see potato taquitos very often at fast food Mexican restaurants.
