Wow, what a fantastic surprise during our trip here to Santa Barbara. My son and I had just finished a long hike under the sun at the Botanic Garden and we were starving! He found this place on google and we drove over. It shares the space and parking lot with a batting cage. They have a very extensive taco menu but you won't find any rice/beans type of plates here. It's just a taco stand. You can get some chips and guac or salads, but no burritos either. Not even Horchata! Strictly tacos here. Christian took our order and had a very pleasant demeanor to him. I got 4 tacos, all on flour tortillas: carne asada, chicken, and grilled shrimp (2). My son got 4 as well: carne asada, crispy cod, crispy shrimp, and Gangnam style. His were all on corn tortillas except for the carne asada which was on flour. All the tacos came with a side of chips and salsa. I can't stress enough how FRESH everything was, starting with the chips. So light and CRISP and not greasy/oily at all. The meats and seafood were all extremely fresh and well-cooked. It was all simply so delicious and we inhaled all our food. The service was not only pleasant but also FAST! Our order was ready about 5 minutes after we placed it. There is only outdoor seating available and all the tables were instantly cleaned by an employee the moment people got up to leave. They have one gender neutral bathroom which was very clean! Triple play ($12.50)-- 3 tacos of your choice!! Ahi Poke-- fresh fish, wasabi aioli and a thin crispy puffed up wonton shell? I was expecting a tortilla so this was a super nice surprise. It was so perfectly crunchy and stayed in tact (without falling apart crumbling over with every bite). I loved the wasabi personally but if you're sensitive then maybe ask for it without! You'll definitely taste it. Spicy Crispy Shrimp-- Tempura shrimp was fried so perfectly where outside is crunch and inside isn't over cooked!! The sauce on here I believe is the same as the free one they give you. Anything with that sauce just tastes 10x better!!! Carne Asada-- Ehhh mid. Wouldn't get again. They're known for fusion so if there's a fusion element I won't compare to authenticity.... But this was a plain regular carne asada taco and I've had better elsewhere. I want to note that each taco had different veggies and toppings so they really craft each one with care. Not just subbing out the protein and calling it a day. THE SAUCE-- This sauce was so good it needed its own category in the review. It smelled good, had salsa-type aromatics + actually had a good spicy kick + thick and creamy without actually being creamy and tasting diluted with cream/mayo etc. I don't know what they put in it and I'm so glad my friends have a low spice tolerance because MORE FOR MEEEE!!! I'd say medium tops, but if you can barely handle a mild you might not want to add that much sauce) Tater tots (~$6)-- Not exactly sure of the price, forgot to take a picture of the side menu. I came just before the lunch rush and once I ordered, the food was ready in less than 10 minutes. Great taco spot in Santa Barbara! This is always my go to when I'm in the area as you can taste the quality. The location is great since right after you're done at the batting cages you can fuel back up with tacos. You order at the window and find yourself a seat which is all outdoors so dress accordingly for those cooler days. It's fun to watch the batters too when your eating. This place was a total surprise! We were passing through on Easter Sunday and needed a place to eat that was quick and open on Easter! Of course, we checked Yelp and up came this taco shop. We found ourselves in SB for the day and since we were at the coast, we both wanted a really amazing fish taco. East Beach Tacos was nearby and the photos looked great. I had no idea that this was an outdoor food spot at a batting cage spot. Parking is pretty bad, especially since you have to share parking with the batting cages. Luckily we were able to get a spot as someone pulled out. It is a stand in line, order at the window spot and they call your name to pick up the food. Employees were nice. Menu is pretty diverse. They have tacos, ceviche, burgers, dogs, etc. we ordered the fish and chips, and two classic trios. Tacos were Carnitas, po boy, chicken, asada, gamgnahm style, and the spicy shrimp. Tacos looked beautifully presented and they come with a great chipotle sauce, chips and lemon. Everything was ok. For me I think the Carnitas were the best, and I am not really a carnitas guy. The shrimp was beautifully cooked, a nice layer of batter. Just a little bland. I did not like Gangnahm style, I was expecting some bulgogi beef style but it was more like chunks of asada smothered in a korean sauce. Asada and chicken were fine. Fish and chips were good too, perfect amount of batter, just still a little on the bland side. The tartar sauce was exceptional, as well as the chipotle sauce. Overall it was a decent spot. It wasn't something that blew my mind where I crave it and have to go back but if I was local and wanted to hit some balls for a few hours, this would be so much better than your typical hot dog stand fare. read more

My husband and I were up in Santa Barbara celebrating our 10th anniversary, and we were craving tacos. We saw that this place has great reviews, so we decided to check it out. The line was pretty long when we arrived (Saturday around 2pm), but it only took about twenty minutes until we could order, and then another ten minutes until we got our food. We both had The Triple Play (you choose three tacos from the menu), homemade guac & chips, and tater tots. Everything was delicious, but we absolutely loved the Batter Up (fried cod) taco and the homemade guac & chips. The Bahn Mi taco and Gangnam Style taco were also great! The atmosphere is super casual, and there's an abundance of outdoor tables to eat at once you grab your food from the pick-up window. There's a small parking lot, and street parking available (although limited). We walked up from the beach, which was an easy and enjoyable walk. There's a very small parking lot, so after finding street parking that was a bit of a walk away, we felt that we just had to commit to waiting in line. Came here after a morning at the zoo and it was the perfect place to chill for my friends and I. We tried several of the different tacos offered, and I loved the Ahi Poke taco so much that the next time I came back, my Triple Play included only that. A great selection of tacos....for about 13 dollars you can mix and match three tacos and they come with chips and salsa. A great deal. Heads up that parking can be tough since the lot is small/narrow - we managed to snag a spot in the parking lot (with some luck and patience) but there were 1-2 cars behind us that ended up turning out and leaving. Otherwise service was quick and there's plenty of outside seating + a place to fill up water cups. The picnic tables are right next to the East Beach Batting Cages, which was kinda neat. There's also a restroom located around the corner of the building. The Triple Play ($11.50) - can choose 3 classic tacos of your choice - I ordered the Gangnam Style (8/10), The Banh Mi (8.5/10), and Spicy Crispy Shrimp (9/10). Out of those three, my favorite would be the spicy crispy shrimp for both texture and flavor. The gangnam style and banh mi were good too and I liked the different toppings, but the meat for both was a little dry. Love, love, and love! Everytime my family and I visit Santa Barbara/Carpenteria for a short day vacation, we always come to East Beach Tacos, and it ALWAYS hits! We order ahead and request the Ahi Poke Tacos, Shrimp Tacos, and Burger and Fries. They are legitimately, consistently, delicious and never miss. The spicy sauce that comes along is perfect, and the wasabi sauce on top blends in so well. I also love their crunchy shell with the Ahi Poke Tacos. The place is very chill, with a clean bathroom, variety of seating, and batting cages. It is dog friendly so we always bring our Yorkie, Suki. The workers are very quick and efficent, making orders fast, with SO many people in line, credits to them! The lot is on the smaller side but we managed to find a spot without too much trouble. While we waited for a table to open up, my husband got in line to order, so the timing worked out well.
