Ambiance, great place for a date night. One block off of State so away from the craziness. Service, excellent!!!! Cesar and Stanley are great bartenders. Food delicious, I had the sirloin, my friend had the way and our husbands had the burger. If you sit at the bar they have a burger special with fries and a drink. We also started off with the olives and the half dozen oysters, fresh and light. Ended with some delicious, light cheesecake. Everyone there was so friendly.

Duck Confit? More like how much (duck) (con) I (fit) in my mouth. Came here with a group of coworkers on a trip to Santa Barbara and this was one of the highlights. Loved the meal, service was fast and attentive, and setting was elegant yet intimate. Gala serves good drinks, Spanish-oriented dishes, and is conveniently located in the heart of Santa Barbara. Would heavily recommend to anyone visiting.

My husband and I were researching multiple places for a wedding rehearsal dinner and Gala turned out to be the most accommodating, with the right Mediterranean ambiance that I wanted for our event. The website featured beautiful floral arrangements and we had the restaurant prepare those for us. The tasting was so much fun and we went through lots of wins and dishes. The Santa Barbara wine selections were actually the best. We chose a huge selection of appetizers and entrees. The waitress and owner were so helpful and treated us like family. I appreciated everything they did for us. I also liked that we were able to add on extra food when we ran out! We finished with the most incredible cheesecake on the planet. Love Gala forever and will go back every chance I get!

How lucky are we to have Chef Jaimie in SBA! Ambience is great. Food fabulous. Service very good. Generous portion on olives and so good. They use oat bakery Charcoal Sourdough bread for their traditional tomato bread appetizer. It is sublime and authentic Happy hour at 5pm is a good fun. Not a lot of options but just right The Speical Brazilian cheese bread was sublime. Will go again. Our huge compliments to the chef Jaimie and team One dish came out very late but otherwise was near perfection

What a mess! The place was severely understaffed and it showed since the beginning. Took us 10 minutes for someone to check us in from the waiter booth, so standing in the cold, then they sat us in at bar; keep in mind we had a reservation. We finally get seated and the waiter took forever to get our order and talk to us, a group who sat 10 minutes later got attention first and their food first and then we finally get to order. Lots of strange stares too from the staff, felt uncomfortable and unwelcoming. Honestly a shame because the restaurant is really beautiful and the food is decent, the mushroom risotto was really good and my favorite, the steak was okay.. and the corn bread was yummy. The chefs and the bartenders honestly carried the place but the waiters and service not so much. All I thought throughout this experience is that I want to leave. Would not come back, very disappointed.

I really like this spot! Such a fun setting in downtown Santa Barbara. I recently went on a Wednesday evening and it was easy to get a table immediately upon walking up. The service is excellent. Our waitress was very attentive. We opted for a couple of food choices and a drink. The presentation of everything we ordered was beautiful. The blood orange margarita is super tasty! I devoured the chicken croquettes- so good! The Burrata salad comes with chips that are sooo yummy. I noticed several other things on the menu that I'd love to try. Can't wait to go back! They have both indoor and outdoor seating. No parking available on site but the streets nearby allow for parking (if you can find a spot!) or there are public lots that offer the first 75 minutes free.

We were seated at the beautiful back patio but it was a bit too hot & sunny for me. The patio was very cozy and relaxing though. We started off with sparkling water and pitcher of sangria to cool down on a hot day. For food we had beef carpaccio, broccolini, octopus, tortilla espanola (Spanish omelet) and whole branzino. The food was fantastic and so flavorful. I can see why this restaurant is so popular. Our waitress was so friendly and helpful. The staffs were all very polite and welcoming. What an amazing Spanish restaurant and bar, we will definitely visit again whenever we are in town!

We were seated at the bar style seating where you get to see the kitchen, which I actually prefer since you get to see everyone work. // DRINKS // Ooo Mami: lalo tequila, mezcal, lemon, passionfruit, agave, orange bitters, umami. A little on the sweeter side, but pretty well balanced and fruit forward. 4/5 // FOOD // Patatas Bravas: yukon gold potatoes, pimentón emulsion, brava sauce, garlic aioli. This appetizer didn't stand out. It's your typical patatas bravas, but it wasn't as flavorful as I've had elsewhere. 3/5 Ensalada Invierno: roasted kale, baby beets, marcona almonds, orange supreme, coca bread, manchego foam. Very smoky! I was surprised how much the kale took on the smoke of the grill, but it was very different. 2/5 Mariscos: bomba rice, manila clams, jumbo prawns, grilled squid, squid ink, green peas, garlic aioli. The star of the show and absolutely delicious. It was so flavorful and the grilled squid was so tender and melt in your mouth delicious. 5/5 Overall, even though the starters were a miss for me, I would definitely come back for the paella and drinks again, and also to try a few of the other dishes.

My best friend and I come every time I'm in town & they are always on point from the service, to the amazing food & beautiful drinks! Monday night our server was very attentive, quick with water refills (which I love) and very pleasant. We also sat inside for the first time as we usually sit on the outdoor patio which is no longer in place, and I was happy with the indoor ambiance. We ordered a variety of our favorites - the some brie sauce, date with a pig, PB&J sliders as well as some new items - the shrimp tacos & veggie sliders (both were outstanding). I cannot recommend this place enough & I would eat here every night if I could!

Overall, the food was excellent, the ambiance was welcoming, and the service was outstanding. One thing we especially appreciated was how family-friendly the restaurant felt. They had old-school cartoons playing on the TVs above the bar, which was a fun touch that kept everyone entertained. One thing to know before you order: the "tapas" here are much larger than what we've experienced at traditional tapas restaurants. We ended up ordering far too much because we expected smaller, shareable portions. Fortunately, that's a good problem to have, as everything was delicious. Just keep the portion sizes in mind when ordering. The drinks were also solid. The sangria leaned a bit more toward fruit juice than wine for our taste, but the other cocktails we tried were well-balanced and enjoyable. Between the great food, generous portions, excellent service, and relaxed atmosphere, we'd definitely recommend this spot to anyone visiting Santa Barbara.

If you're looking for a spot this summer with all the vibes, killer margaritas, and delicious food,…read morelook no further than Santo Mezcal in Santa Barbara. My bestie (and yelp elite) Imo brought me here for a girls day after raving about it for months, and now I completely understand the hype. We grabbed seats at the bar (which is honestly the place to be, especially since this spot gets busy on the weekends). Hint hint: make a reservation or get here early. But overall the bar was the perfect place to people watch and to catch up. When it comes to service, impeccable. Despite being busy everyone was attentive and the drinks/food were well placed despite it being a full house. And can we talk about the bartenders? They were so welcoming and even let us film while they worked their magic making cocktails. Watching them crank out cocktails with so much flair was half the entertainment and they couldn't have been nicer. Service was definitely a 10/10. We enjoyed a few margaritas but my favorite was definitely the Hibiscus Margarita. It wasn't overly sweet and was just refreshing. I also had the tamarind Marg which was good too. Extensive cocktail menu and mezcal if you like it. The food absolutely lived up to the drinks. Santo Mezcal takes classic Mexican flavors and gives them a slightly elevated twist while still keeping everything comforting and approachable. My friend couldn't stop talking about her Pork Belly Tacos and I fell in love with the Shrimp Enchiladas. They were loaded with fresh shrimp and covered in the most incredible creamy chipotle sauce (same as their sister restaurant Los agaves for reference). Definitely one of my favorite enchiladas around, 10/10 also. One thing I wasn't expecting is that their chips and salsa might be some of the best I've had. The tortilla chips were fresh, warm, perfectly salted, and paired with a salsa so good I probably ate two bowls before our food even arrived. Honestly, you could sit at the bar with a basket of chips, salsa, and margaritas for hours and be completely happy. Make sure you don't pass up on the chips and salsa. As noted, this is a more elevated Mexican restaurant so prices are slightly more $$$ but you get what you pay for. Just worth noting because if you equate good Mexican food being $2 tacos and a bucket of beer, this spot won't do it for you. But if you want something for more of a special occasion where the food, vibes and service are A+ then this spot is for you.
