One of my favorite memories was when my dad called from a Michelin‑star restaurant in Chicago, telling me he'd tried a Santa Barbara small‑batch natural dessert wine. Also, one of us had to wait at least 15 minutes for our dish (Charred Broccolini) after the rest of the table had already been served, and another 3 minutes to get utensils to eat it. With respect to the food, the Yoga Pants salad was the best item. Most of the food we got (Tomato Soup, Grilled Cheese, Ceci Bean Ragu) was very oily, including the Charred Broccolini dish which also lacked flavor. Love this farm to table concept. Super cute spot with a little magic card performance during our dinner. We shared the focaccia bread with their balsamic garlic sauce and their yoga pants salad. Unfortunately, I didn't have the best experience here as I imagined it to be. I stopped by on a warm day and wanted to enjoy a Spritz. I walked in and spoke with the guy working the bar area. I wasn't sure if I had to order my drink there or if there was table service. He said he could take my order and then I could go find a table to sit at. I placed my order for a Spritz and found a table outside. It seemed like 15 minutes had passed by and still no drink. He tended to another table in front of me with a group of women he knew. I thought he would stop by my table after, but he didn't even acknowledge me. Finally, another staff member tended to me and I told her I had placed my order at the bar and was still waiting for it. She was very kind and quickly got it for me. My observation of this guy, was that he acknowledged everyone around me but for some reason never acknowledged me until my bill was ready. Such a bizarre experience! In any case, I still managed to enjoy myself and was glad the Eva waited on me. She was very kind and I appreciate her getting my drink and food in a timely manner. I ordered the Spanish cheese plate, which was the perfect snacking board. It comes with manchego, membrillo, corn nuts, cornichon, quince, strawberries, focaccia, and charcoal sourdough bread. The natural wine bar of my dreams! We came to SB on a trip and were searching for wine bars that serve natural wine, and this one kept popping up as a top choice -- and it absolutely lived up to the hype. It's located right on State Street, so there's plenty to explore nearby. We came right at opening and were greeted by the friendliest host. The style of the space is amazing -- walls lined with bottles, funky furniture, and such a fun, modern vibe. They were also super dog‑friendly and immediately brought my pup a water bowl, which I always appreciate. The host was incredibly knowledgeable and answered all my questions (and I had many). I'm still new to the wine world, so her openness and guidance meant a lot. I sampled two wines and chose the one that was perfect for me. Came on a Monday night and it was decently busy but we didn't have any issues getting a table. Since we had our dog we sat outside. They have some tables by heaters but we weren't able to snag one. Service was very friendly right off the bat. They came by and explained their natural approach to wine and the local food. Everything is sourced from the local farmers market that happens in Santa Barbara which was awesome. We got two glasses of wine and we were able to try them before committing. For food we got the focaccia, the YP salad and the persimmon salad. The star is definitely the focaccia. Different than other kinds in that this one is more dense but still really good thyme/rosemary flavor and the the crust is still crispy while the inside is really moist and soft. The garlic/balsamic they serve with it is delicious and perfectly cooked to be spreadable like butter. Both of the salads were good but we liked the YP salad for the contrasting textures and the good amount of acidity the dish had. The roasted roots made it more substantial too. read more

Food We had ordered one of everything that was vegan on the menu. We started off with the corn nuts and it's was a pretty small dish of food for the price. I would honestly skip them, they were pretty good, but not really worth the price compared to the or the options. The winners of the table were the Mac and cheese in the skillet, nice crispy top, and cheesy but because it was vegan cheese not too heavy at all. The yoga pants salad was also a hit. A pretty good pile of vegetables and the dressing was really light. The squash might have been the favorite. Something about the spicy yogurt dressing it came with was so good. We nearly ordered another one because everyone at the table really agreed that it was the winner. We heard that the olive oil cake was a good one, but honestly found it be lackluster. It was a bit too sweet for our likening and a little heavy. I would say that was a skip for us. Also if you bring in an outside dessert there is a "minimal" cake cutting fee of $15. We had a pretty small 5" cake and found it to be nearly the cost of the cake itself for them to cut it. They didn't even put it on plates. Service Came here with a party of seven and they were able to sit us out on the front patio since it was so lovely outside. Service could have been a bit more attentive, they got us menus and water pretty quickly. There were not enough menus to go around despite the place not being too busy and we found it odd that we had to share them. Also had to ask for water refills and when we asked if we had ordered enough food the server did not seem to know. The building is easy to find, parking isn't too easy to find tho. The interior is pretty nice and there is also outside seating. We sat outside because it was quieter. They have blankets for you to use when dining outside. The server was very nice and professional. We tried a few things - focaccia with garlic spread 5/5, potato salad 4/5 , and cauliflower tacos 4/5. They could use more seasoning and way more dishes. Everything is plant based and most vegan restaurants in the area closed, they should use that to their advantage by offering way more food options but most of their menu is booze. We ordered non alcoholic yuzu kombucha 5/5. I recommend going here to try it out and I hope that they add more food items to the menu. I mean, the food is really good here, ofcourse it has such good ratings! Walking in, the unassuming exterior made me a little skeptical. They've outdoor street facing seatings mainly and some indoor and bar space. It's open and bright but in stark contrast to the super trendy restaurants nearby. This wine bar specializes in a small farmers market focused menu so it felt fitting we landed here for lunch after strolling through the certified farmers market a block away. I found the yoga pants salad to be really one-dimensional. I wish it had more components like pickled onion, some crunch, some herbs etc. For $22, I expected something delicious, but it was just ok. Beans were too bitter - perhaps owing the olive oil. We struggled to finish this. Roasted broccoli was more fried, oily but delicious because we love fried broccoli. Focaccia was really good. The balsamic confit was delicious! No protein sources in any of our dishes. Was cold outdoors, they didn't turn on the heaters, we should have asked. I've heard about Satellite for quite some time, but haven't managed to stop in for a bite yet. I met friends before a show at the Granada on a Monday night and selected Satellite, because it was open on Mondays and has a wide variety of items that would meet our varied dietary requirements. We wound up ordering plates for the table and shared them family style. It was a beautiful October evening with a slight chill in the air. We would have preferred the street seating with the heat lamps, but they were all full and a group was waiting for the next one, so we chose a sidewalk seat. We didn't want to eat inside, because it was so loud that we didn't think we'd be able to have a convo without yelling across the table. I wasn't excited about sitting on the sidewalk with no heaters and people passing by our table constantly, but in the end it didn't actually bother me. The service was outstanding, and was there everytime we might want something. As a result, we never really noticed any passers by on the sidewalk. We shared a vegan yoga pants salad, which was heartily gobbled up by the whole table. I can see why the yoga pants salad is the dish that built the restaurant's fine reputation. It is really that good and should not be missed. We also had the vegan salade nicoise (no tuna, just chickpea of the sea!). I would definitely enjoy that one again, as it was delicious. I was starting to get cold, so I ordered the grilled cheese sandwich. My expectations were low, anticpating some warm, gooey cheddar on industrial bread, which was going to hit the spot. What I didn't expect was that, for me, this would be the highlight of the meal! Served on crispy-crusted charcoal sourdough bread, there were several cheeses combined inside and it was a dripping melange of cheesy heaven. It was the first dish to disappear down our collective gullets. I'm hungering to return to Satellite soon. Honestly, I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to order anything but the grilled cheese again. There are many other things on the menu that look great, but this may just become the place for me where I head on our chilly May grays, June glooms, July gray skies (and all the other months when you need to bundle up in Santa Barbara) to treat myself to the best grilled cheese on planet Earth. This is my second time coming here and this time I ordered food in addition to wine. We had a sauvignon blanc that was really crisp & I enjoyed it. However, the vegan dish we had which was pretty much confit with small portions with bread wasn't my favorite. Aside from that, it only had four pieces of bread and to get more we had to pay $3 for the same deal. I do think it was different than most ordinary vegan dishes and it featured vibrancy but for the price it wasn't worth it. Don't depend on that to fill you up! The workers are sweet but of course that kind of threw me off. I did think the bread was high quality so I get it, I just wish there was more portion sizing. We sat outside by the fire, it was a chilly night and they have options to sit inside (a dark room) or outdoors. They serve everything to you and give you a bottle to start off. Cheers to Satellite. Stopped by on a Wednesday evening and sat under the heaters in the Parklet on State street. We watched all the bikers and visitors roam while enjoying spritzers and great bottles of wine. Okay, they got me on that first visit a few years back. Since then my spouse and I joined the wine club, enjoyed multiple pop up dinners and blind tastings by Zoom during the pandemic. Post the worst of the pandemic I had a fantastic wine tasting birthday event there. I love their passion and friendliness. It was a bit on the pricey side, but for the area of SB it's in and the quality of the food it makes sense, so no complaints. The gazpacho I got was delicious. I have recently discovered my two new favorite dishes in Santa Barbara. The Yoga Pants Salad and Beech Ceviche are simply out-of-this-world. And our servers were crazy-good at making sure we have the perfect wines to pair them with. Even some tasty Champagne and Sparkling Wines, exotic beers, Kombucha and fortified wines. I had the opportunity to meet with some friends here recently and it was great! Easy to get a table inside on a Tuesday after work. The staff were quick to acknowledge me upon walking in and handed me a menu. No one waits on you, rather you order at the counter. That actually made it easier for us each being responsible for paying our own bills. There is a food menu, but we didn't go for a meal. The wines are excellent! I really enjoyed the Rosé. The prices are affordable. Halfway through our visit, a staff closed the blinds adjacent to the business at the back of their space, which completely darkened our table and it was hard to see.
