Kale salad
Terry M.

We had late reservations so a part of this relatively mediocre experience could be attributed to that. The food is good, not necessarily great--decent portions, above average taste. The lamb shanks, kale salad, and burger were good (except for the cool fries). The server was nice, but seemed annoyed by questions, possibly because we asked quite a few and it was late. So if the food was good, the service was good, and the ambiance was good, why 3 stars??? Because at the prices for the meal, the food should have been awesome and the service friendly and helpful. If you're staying at the Halycon and want a decent meal at a heavy price, it's a good enough spot. But just that.

The service was great and the drinks were strong. Best espresso martini everrr!! Everyone enjoyed their food. They could have turned up the volume on the music to drown out all the baby screaming and the tables were wobbly but otherwise, a good time was had by all. Parking is rough but there is valet. Make sure you pay in the app if you park on the street. Cherry creek does not play when it comes to their paid parking spots. The chicken spatzel wasn't very flavorful on its own and the sauce was incredibly rich with chunks of hard boiled egg in it. The breakfast burritos were large, could definitely be shared. The burger was fine - everything was alright - but not spectacular. A little salt would have helped every dish. The ambiance was a little over sold online and the menu appears to change frequently.

This was attached to the hotel we were staying at so it was super convenient to go down there in the morning. I cannot believe how amazing the food was. We had fresh green juice, short rib hash, Croque Madame, and a cinnamon roll. Every bite was exceptional! The staff was wonderful.

Been here twice for brunch with the girls, and both times were amazing! I've tried the Croque Madame and the Short Rib Hash. Both were packed with flavor and absolutely delicious. The crispy, potatoey potatoes deserve their own shoutout. I love that they have a live DJ on Sundays, it's such a vibe! The space is beautifully decorated and perfect for bigger groups or celebrations. The bathroom is located on the lower floor (just a heads-up). Plenty of street parking nearby, both free and paid. Service was lovely. It was super friendly and attentive from start to finish. Definitely one of my favorite brunch spots in town!

Hamachi Crudo

Visiting Denver from the Bay Area, I wasn't sure what to expect from Local Jones in Cherry Creek besides pricey upscale food, but my partner and I ended up having a great experience. We stopped in around 6PM for a quick bite before a movie, and even though the dining room was quiet, the two servers on the floor were kind, attentive, and incredibly accommodating. We let them know right away that we were on a time crunch, and they didn't miss a beat--drinks, food, and check all came smoothly without ever feeling rushed. We decided to keep it light and share two dishes: the hamachi crudo and the Sunday special French dip. The hamachi crudo was exactly what I expected--small but fresh, with bright citrusy notes that made for a refreshing start. The French dip, on the other hand, surprised me. I've never had one before, but this was rich, meaty, and moist, with soft bread that held everything together perfectly. The kitchen even split the sandwich for us on separate plates, each with a generous portion of fries--a thoughtful touch that didn't go unnoticed. We were in and out in under an hour. Yes, it's a bit on the pricey side, but that's to be expected from the Cherry Creek dining experience, and honestly, the attentive service and upscale atmosphere made it feel worth it. For a spontaneous stop, this ended up being one of the highlights of our evening. I'd absolutely come back the next time I'm in town.

Chocolate Hazelnut Cheesecake

Came in, dined alone at the bar indoors & the bartenders/servers were super accommodating and friendly to all guests at the bar. (: Helped me choose between things I was considering for food and constantly refilled my glass. It has a chill, chic vibe; contemporary design, dark lighting. Salmon: 4.5/5, the salmon fillet tasted fresh and wasn't too salty which I usually have an issue with. It was complemented with blended couscous, apples, mangos and bacon. The bacon was a little too much for me, but it was all good and had a nice texture, taste and contrast. (I think it came within 10-15 mins but I wasn't keeping track) Cheesecake: 3/5, I was pretty full after the salmon but wanted some dessert so I got their cheesecake to go. It's too sweet for my liking, the hazelnut bites are great but it overall was too much for me. Arrived within 2-5 mins of ordering.

To start our journey to Andrea Boccelli concert

Best Caesar Salad IMHO almost ever! (And ever is a strong word). Here is my story! Looking for a place to eat before our concert we end up at Local Jones. Local Jones is located in the Halcyon Hotel in Cherry Creek. What a great choice. (Caesar Salad) We ordered a few dishes (Caesar Salad) which were all very tasty and served to perfection. The LJ Burger was great! My travel partner and I shared each dish and turns out to be a smart idea as portions were huge They dinner and breakfast menu is extensive and looked enticing and that said, you know I will go back.... We sat at the bar and our bartender/server was just the best. The bar area is partially opened to the outside / streetside... They do have a dining area inside which ( cannot comment on as I didn't dine in the dining room) Hah Hou

I came to Local Jones for breakfast and was very happy. It has all my favorites to fuel up my day. The sausage was delicious and they offered crusty bread, which is my absolute favorite type of bread, especially with a little butter and jam. The space is beautiful and comfortable. I really can't ask for anything more to start the day. Casual. Good service. Please come and create your own adventure.

Turkey club

We had a festive birthday lunch and enjoyed the red pepper hummus, chicken/lentil soup, chicken schnitzel, proper French dip and turkey club. All were delicious but the hummus, French dip and the schnitzel were the stars of the show! Service was nothing exceptional but loved the atmosphere and the vibe, will definitely be back!

I appreciated being able to order grilled cheese and tomato soup for the kid, which was not on the menu. The Cobb salad and omelet were good, standard. The tyme drink was delicious. Service was kinda slow, but luckily we weren't in a rush.

Have been here several times for spring tea, lunch after the rooftop pool, and dinner. All are great options! They also do a holiday tea as well. Great ambiance and service most of the time. Definitely recommend

We had a really great brunch here on Christmas day! The staff was awesome and the food was very good, paired with espresso martinis! The ambiance of the restaurant is also very pretty, sleek, and clean. Prices are on the higher side (ie: $19-$20 espresso martinis) Total meal was $80 without tip for 2 dishes and 2 drinks. I love that they have traditional seating but also couch seating and a bar area too with a few TVs. There's street paid parking nearby. They also allow dogs (saw quite a few this day). Not sure if that was a holiday thing or a regular thing. I'd recommend this place in Denver!

Well, I have visited this restaurant 3 times. All 3 times have been for a holiday brunch or…read moredinner. Location (4 stars) This restaurant is downtown near the convention center. parking is pricy if you valet park at the hotel. Last year it was around $40. Parking in the lot across the street for $25 dollars Easter Sunday. If you use a walker, I would not recommend the parking lot across the street. Food (3 Stars) The Thanksgiving buffet is the best one. I would rate that buffet a (4). The Christmas and Easter buffet are pretty low key. There is a carving station (ham and prime rib). There is an omelet station. Dessert bar is decorative. Cheesecake was delicious. The warming station with potatoes, sausage etc. leaves much to be desired. The charcuterie station is sparse. They offer unlimited mimosas for an additional $25. Service (5 stars) Staff are extremely friendly. Cleanliness (2 stars) My only complaint, I saw a tabletop being cleaned off with a rag used to clean the chairs and then under the table on the floor and on to the next tabletop. I'm just a little picky about that. Especially since folks these days go commando and wear short attire, and you know their parts are on the chair and now spread to tabletops. Wiping up the crumbs off the floor with same rag simply through me over the edge. Atmosphere (4 stars) Spacious uncrowded environment. Nice decor. Bright with large windows.

During the last few Denver Restaurant Week events, I've tried to take the offerings as an…read moreopportunity to sample restaurants that I haven't tried, or otherwise may not try, and see if I can add to my list of favorites. I saw Former Saint on CBS News, and the menu and food looked incredible. In particular, that white chocolate blueberry cheesecake was something I know my hubby would look forward to all week! I loved the idea of local food and fresh homemade dishes. Sounds healthy, after a week of potential over-indulgence at other restaurant week venues. An additional bonus was that it is located right near the Denver Convention Center and the Performing Arts Center. This has become a dry spot for fine dining, with even the choices on Larimer Square growing more thin, giving rise to the inability to get reservations at favorites like Tamayo and Rioja prior to a show. I go to performances frequently with friends, and despite my rule to avoid hotel restaurants (Former Saint is in the Hyatt Regency), I thought I'd scope out Former Saint as a place to take my friends before the next symphony or Children's Chorale or ballet or broadway performance. I must say, the jury is still out. Former Saint was a Jekyll and Hyde of courses. Parking was not difficult (Yay, maybe I can park here prior to my shows, if I grab a bite first). There is a large garage, and the promise of validation from the restaurant. The ambiance of the restaurant is typical hotel restaurant. Booths, tables, old and a bit drab. Except for the bar. Oh, my! The bar has this BEAUTIFUL copper creation above it, adding so much industrial character to the space! I was in awe looking at it, as it appeared to bring craft suds to the bartender's taps. I didn't ask how it worked, as it wasn't clear how the beer separation and dispensing worked, but it was a great centerpiece and spectacle for the place. I do wish I had investigated more about this architectural marvel, and will do so if I return. For restaurant week, my husband chose the Lobster Ravioli, Ribeye, and blueberry cheesecake (as predicted). I chose the Gotham salad, roasted chicken, and key lime tart. The lobster ravioli was nice; my husband was surprised that it was a toasted ravioli, but enjoyed it. My salad was full of beautiful greens, pears, walnuts, and feta. No scrimping here! The dressing was light and sweet/sour. The pears were a bit unripe and crisp, to the point that I was having trouble identifying exactly what fruit I was eating, but other than that, the salad was beautiful, healthy, and ample. My husband's ribeye steak was a nice cut, done to his liking. Slivered hash browns were underneath with a nice green chimichurri on top and some sliced Fresnos adding a welcome kick to the dish. My chicken was delightful. 1/2 chicken on the bone, seasoned nicely, and with a pan sauce. The breast was super-tender and delicious. It came atop cheesy grits, which was a yummy substitute for a mashed potato. I also was served side salad of curly lettuce and fennel. I probably didn't need more salad, but I was glad to have the healthy side on my plate. I will say that this salad was over-seasoned. The chicken and grits were great, but the salad too salty. My husband ordered a glass of J. Lohr Cabernet, which was a very nice find on the wine list, as far as a pairing for his ribeye. That said, the glass cost $30! A bit much, I might say. The real detractor, unfortunately, was dessert. The blueberry cheesecake looked nothing like the beautiful creamy white cheesecake accented throughout by purple blueberries, which I saw on the CBS News clip. My husband was served a very small solid purple slice, overcome with whipped cream dollops. This cheesecake had been uncovered in the fridge too long, with sort of a skin on it. My husband ate almost none of it. My key lime tart was similarly over-adorned with whipped cream, although I had some nice raspberries on top. The tart also seemed overexposed to the cool air, with the thickening of a skin on top. It was a very disappointing way to end a nice meal, and belied the healthy, homemade, craft theme. High points of this experience include the well-crafted and healthy entrees, the fact that we could see the convention center right outside our window (i.e., the location is perfect for pre-event or -theater), the $3.00 validated parking fee, and that beautiful copper tap system. Will the pros outweigh the cons? Will we be back with friends? Time will tell.

The Mortadella Sammy was sweet and salty, the combination of the fontina cheese and the blueberry jam worked well together. SPACE: Located in the highlands, this place has become the new "it" spot when it comes to breakfast. It's easy to spot on the corner, has decent street parking options and cute as pie inside. Bright colors splash the walls, which are lined with booths and tables alike. Community seating is in the middle, which the girls and I were happy to dine at. The color scheme here is so fun and welcoming, creating a happy and fun vibe. SERVICE: We were greeted inside by a friendly host who explained they were on a small wait. MAKE A RESERVATION and you'll be able to skip the wait, like we did, as this place is popular and fills up fast! Our server, his name escapes me now, was SO fun. He had us laughing, excited about the various food and drink offerings and made us feel right at home. It was obvious he was outgoing and truly enjoyed his job, which made all the difference in service! SIPS: We all opted for various coffee and matcha drinks. I sipped on the iced cereal milk latte, while my sister sampled the fruity pebbles matcha and our cousin had the cortado. YUM! SUSTENANCE: Such fun and different food options - which had us craving both savory and sweet! We started with the sausage in a blanket and loaded hashbrown, which was so good! My sister opted for a benedict, cousin got the massive breakfast burrito, and I opted for the breakfast salad - which was perfectly seasoned, crunchy, salty with a runny egg on top. SERIOUSLY YUM! We also chose to try the buttermilk and blueberry pancakes, because why the heck not?! Everything came out in good time, was pretty in presentation and absolutely delicious! Portions are massive so come hungry! Here's to more breakfast dates at this new and fun spot!!
