The Cherry Cricket has the kind of old-school neighborhood bar atmosphere that works perfectly for a burger joint in Cherry Creek. Our group of six was seated without any trouble, and the staff kept things friendly and straightforward throughout the meal. The burgers came out hot, fresh, and seriously juicy. The sides are generous, especially the onion rings, and both the crispy tater tots and coleslaw were solid choices. There's also a strong drink selection with local craft beer, cocktails, shakes, and soft drinks. Good portions, well-made burgers, and a laid-back atmosphere make this place an easy recommendation. read more

WOW! We got a gift card from the manager due to our last experience and this time was amazing. Despite it looking super busy, we got sat right away and it was a weekend night, so we definitely got lucky. We told the waitress about our previous experience regarding my boyfriend's burger being super raw and she suggested that he get his burger cut in half, which worked! It was cooked well. I got the tuna melt and it was pretty standard, but delicious regardless. The star of the show, however, had to be the appetizers. We got the wings of two flavors that the waitress recommended. I don't remember the names, but one of them had a mustard taste to it and I really enjoyed it. My boyfriend and I are obsessed with the pretzels. They are soft, warm, and go perfect with the dip so well. Cherry Cricket this time was a great experience and we would come back for the pretzels alone. read more

This was the first time I had been out since my hospital stay and the first to this establishment in about a decade my last time, there was hair in my girlfriend's burger. I was really craving a "patty" style burger instead of the oh so trendy (and delicious) smash burgers. The service was mediocre, waiter was solid. I was gravely disappointed by the food. I ask for my burger to be cooked medium, but it was not. Meat also lacked seasoning. I built my own burger, added cheddar cheese and green chile strips. The reasoning mainly being because Colorado is proud of their chile, it is chile season, pissing match with NM over chile, etc. The "green chile strips" was a canned (yes, canned) and the burger was over cooked. Maybe the next restaurant can soften the blow with a proper burger. read more

Excellent burger joint with all the ways to customize the way you like or try their winning burgers. The menu is simple though when you start to think about all the ways you can have a burger, it can get overwhelming. Which was what I did and last minute I switched it to just the Vera Cruz winning burger replacing the 1/2 pound cricket burger with their bison burger. Either way it was delicious. The cherry bomb app was an amplified fried cheese stick with an amazing raspberry sauce that went great with it. Plenty of seating including a large outdoor shaded patio that's pet friendly. Service was speedy and efficient. Street parking/public parking structure nearby. read more

My husband and I make sure to stop by at least once whenever we visit Denver. Luckily the in-laws live here so it's a great excuse to visit. The cricket royale is probably my favorite burger I've ever had. In life. I joked and told my husband I would want this as my death row meal because it's that good. The flavor is insane and I wish I could finish the burger in one sitting but it's massive. I'm already thinking about my trip back in the next week or 2 before we head back to Dallas, which is home. The service is always solid and the atmosphere is great. The restaurant is spacious with seating both inside and outside. read more

We went here before a baseball game. It was very busy but our waiter was attentive and efficient. We had a kids chicken tender meal, pretzel and nacho appetizer and a blackened chicken wrap. The food was good with the exception of the kids chicken. It was huge and not very flavorful. They had a lot of breading. Everything else was very good. There is a fish tank to look at. The kids loved that. read more

I want to say this was the first location but I could be wrong but it is a lot better than their other locations and I can see why it's been around for so long. There's something about the burgers that taste better here. The space looks small but it actually expands into a large outdoor area and you can bring your dogs outside so I'll note that for next time. I ordered the cricket royale and it was so good with the pretzel bun. The flavors just really worked well together. I had a bite of some other burgers from our party but I wasn't a huge fan so I think in my opinion that the cricket royale is the best one of the choices. The appetizers were good and crunchy. Service was friendly. Food came out quick. Overall, it's a solid burger spot. read more

After missing lunch and staring down a long night of work, we needed something quick, satisfying, and close--and The Cherry Cricket delivered. This place has that classic sports bar energy you hope for... TVs everywhere, a lively crowd, and the kind of atmosphere where you can kick back and enjoy a solid burger. If you're a burger fan, be warned--the menu is loaded. It actually took a minute to land on a decision because there are so many creative options. I went with the Burger in a Bowl and added blue cheese. Now let's talk about that... They don't do the "light sprinkle" thing here. They pile it on, and as someone who appreciates bold flavor, I was all in. The burger itself was cooked well and had great flavor throughout. It comes with steak fries, and I specifically asked for them well done... unfortunately, they didn't quite hit that crispy finish I was hoping for. Not a deal breaker, but worth noting. Service was okay--nothing negative, just not overly engaging or memorable. Kind of a "take your order and keep it moving" vibe. That said, the overall experience was strong. Between the atmosphere, the variety on the menu, and a really solid burger, this is absolutely a place I'd come back to if I lived nearby. Pro Tip: If you're a blue cheese fan, don't hesitate--they go big with it here. Final Verdict: Great spot for burgers and a laid-back sports bar experience. A little more attention to fries and service would push this into 5-star territory. read more

My hamburger was so good. I had a cheeseburger with the usual trimmings. My brother Ordered enchiladas because he remembered them being delicious last time he was in town , I gave him some of my burger to try and he said it was better than his meal. Before we left town we stopped in again an hour or so before they closed. I was not hungry but he ordered the special of 3 different sliders. Of course I had to try them myself. They We're so do good. Glad we went back. I know there are a few now but we went to original one in Cherry Creek The service was top notch. It has become a large restaurant. We sat in the main room and next to the fish aquarium. It was fun watching the fish. If you get a chance stop in for a burger. You won't be disappointed. read more

So, here is the deal. I am literally hitting EVERY single burger place on the Westword Best Burger list and this was next. I had been here before, several times, way back in my day, but not when I was doing reviews, and not when I cared about or ranked the quality of the burger. I do now. Both. I went specifically for the burger this time. I was not let down. As always, the service first. Kelsey was my bartender tonight, and gave me flawless service. Personable, efficient, and, after I explained my burger mission, she recommended the proper burgers. She truly elevated my visit. Here is the thing about this place. Instead of getting "just a burger," they are "too" creative. The toppings are the magic here, and they have such imaginative options. The burger itself is still awesome, but prepare to be a little overwhelmed by all of the options. They had a bunch of IPA's but they were out of one that I hadn't had, so I defaulted to one of my favorites, the Superpower. I was about to get Kelsey's recommendation on the burger, the Cricket Royale, with a pretzel bun, (you should), but I looked up "duxelles" and found out it was a mushroom. Aside from me always nixing pickles, I never want to nix the magic of the creation of the burger that has been invented. So, I passed. Being a mac and cheese person, one would expect that I would have gotten the Big Cheese (has it on it), but I felt like that was like crossing the streams in Ghostbusters in a bad way. I would like to keep those two loveable things separate in my life. You do you. I probably will start a best mac and cheese mission after this burger mission, and before my best pizza mission. I landed on the Cry Baby (the 2024 winner). All of their burgers have won something. Very French Onion taste, and even comes with a side of French Onion soup, although I just put it aside because I didn't know what to do with it. But, I didn't need it. I assume I was supposed to dip it in it, but it tasted good enough for me without it. The burger was awesome. Magical. Unless you are in eating contests, I liked my decision about not getting a side of fries. I wouldn't have touched more than one or two. Ok. The place itself. LOTS of rooms. I think this is the most amount of pics that I have taken at a place on review pages, but, aside from the pics of the burger, all the rest are different. Indoor rooms. Outdoor dining. Outdoor patio. Outdoor tent. Fun music in the background. Good mix of regulars and folks just stopping by. I talked to some of the other staff, plus the three managers on duty. You can tell the excellent service runs through all levels here. Good service is simply ingrained into the staff. They know they are already a staple and legendary place in this town and could get business forever, but want to prove it again every day again and again, to every new person who walks through the door, like me. I supremely appreciate that, and judge it wherever I go, as an ex-bartender. For the record, I would have chosen the 2016 winner as my next choice. The Vera Cruz. I treat my burger rankings like college football. You have to slowly move up the rankings without any big initial moves (except for my #1 that is not in this town), and today moved the needle for these folks from 21 to 14 all time for me. I highly recommend this place, ALL of the burgers deserve to be on the best burger list, and see you there... read more

We ate at the downtown location a few years back and remember good food, fast services and clean space. Upon entering this location, it's a lively place with happy regulars at the bar. It's a large place with good music. The one thing that bugged me (pun intended) was all the gnats flying around our (inside) table. Swatting was needed to keep them off the food. The cherry bombs are yummy. The burgers good and the frings just ok. We had to wait a very long time for our check. We had to send for someone to get our waiter to bring it. Also no one ever came by to see if we wanted more drinks or a refresh on water. Over all, Cherry Cricket was average at best. When I'm back in the area, I'll try a different restaurant. read more

We got to the restaurant about 5:00 pm but the shift was changing and I sat waiting for my friend to comeback from locating a parking spot. I did not get service for about 10 minutes after being seated. We did however get service when my friend arrived. It was chaotic and not clear whose table we were. So we had gracious service but not overly attentive. After we ordered then the server left us for quite sometime until we got our meal, not sure if this was that we don't drink? The meals were very very tasty and orders came out correctly with no issues. Food was served hot and I enjoyed it. We needed to get our check ( we went to blossoms of light) and again we had to "flag" our server for the check. The transaction was easy and we each were able to pay separately. Parking was tough even though we were there pretty early- this area is always popping! read more

A Denver staple for a reason! I've been going here for decades, and it always delivers. Went here for dinner after checking out the Christmas market and definitely left feeling full and satisfied. The speciality burgers they offer are a little too over the top for my taste. Don't give me wrong they sound delicious, but I don't think I'd want my entire meal to be one. I'd like to try a bite of each. I ended up making my own 1/4 lb burger with a crispy poblano, chipotle aïoli, and fresh jalapeños it was nice and spicy and delicious! They offer both 1/4 and 1/2 pound burgers. I got a side of coleslaw, which I really enjoyed, it was a bit sweeter than I normally like and had more of a vinegar than mayo base, but I really liked it. French fries were tasty too (not soggy at all). The waitress was great, she brought tons of extra sauces and made sure to check on us, even though it was quite busy. read more

I found this place based on reviews on Yelp. This place is a great dive bar in the middle of Cherry Creek. It does get loud as expected. Such a fun vibe to just be yourself, Our server was helpful and attentive, he got our orders out to us in a timely manner. Now the food. They are known for their burgers. They have quite a few that award winners. There are also other options to burgers on the menu. I had the fish sandwich which was delicious and not too oily. A great burger joint and a Cherry Creek landmark for burgers I was told when I first moved here 20 years ago. I ordered a buffalo burger with pretzel bun and green Chili, fries, and an Arnold Palmer. There was actually a green Chilli inside. So good!!! It was just opening and it was very clean smelling. Clorox smell is comforting when entering an eatery. It's a bit pricy but, you'll never have a burger like this. read more

Family gathering for dinner and we decided on cherry Cricket. The upside here is the location and its ability to accommodate almost any size group. Huge restaurant, steady service and good food are its hallmarks. Sat us for a group of 11 even though we weren't all there. Waiter checked in periodically and when we all assembled he had our order going in no time. Food here is great. Tater tots!!! Burgers are yummy and unique. There is a full bar, outdoor patio and the parking can be rough. Never had a bad experience and the kids enjoyed themselves. read more

Stopped in for a quick drink while on a business trip as someone I was training recommended it as a great dive bar. I walked in to bright lights and I thought maybeeeee not. I ordered a drink and asked the bartender Kyle and he said it used to be a dive bar but over the years they've expanded and become more of a family restaurant. He makes my drink an walks off and turns down the light! 5stars! I ordered a hot toddy's cause after 7 hours of training my throat was parched and they could do it! Very happy! Look - I know burgers, and after a nice lunch at the Blue Island next door - my gf and I wanted something nice and juicy for the palette- as we passed by Cherry Cricket we noticed the banners regarding the best of people's choice in Denver Burgers, so we knew we had to try. We had the Crybaby, and I can understand how it' was our servers favorite - if you're going in as a couple, you can ask them to cut it in half as it's a 1/2 pound burger with all the fixings We also had some fries on the side as well, very great at just under $30 for two. Fantastic burger, the grilled onions and crostini they put in the burger gave it some great texture. The au jus they gave with it is perfect for dipping and make everything delish - I downed it myself as a broth lowkey highkey. 5/5 - great casual bar ambiance, and the restaurant itself is HUGE with a large backyard area as well. Highly recommend especially if you're in Denver for the first time. read more

Stopped by tonight to grab some dinner. My server Jordan was terrible. He completely botched my order! I ordered a green Chile burger and green chile fries. He brought me a Chile relleno burger and chili cheese fries. I also ordered hazy ipa na and I've never seen someone so confused about something I've tried to order. I had to reexplain and point at the menu what I wanted. I felt like I was trying to order from a 5 year old. I normally don't feel like stiffing people on tips. Okay. So, gave Cherry Cricket another chance. My mom was in town (this seemed up her alley), I was pregnant and reallllly craving a burger, so it felt like a good choice and you know what... it was! No beer for me, but the on tap selection was stellar and my mom enjoyed her local IPA. I went with a chocolate shake with heath bar and it was delish. My mom had a bison burger with jalapenos, I had the burger or the month which was gnarly, messy and worth it and we split a basket of fries. Honestly, a win. Now, fast forward to last night. My parents were in town and again, thought they'd like the vibe. It was a lovely evening and I also figured they had ample space for my newborn's stroller. Again... Success! We were seated right away and had a few options to pick from outside that fit us and bebe. The staff was very considerate and even took us out a backway to avoid stairs and removed some chairs for the stroller to fit. It's the little things, y'all. For drinks, my mom again enjoyed a local IPA (Telluride) and my dad and I had shakes - mine was chocolate and Reese's this time. We all split fries and for burgers my mom again has the bison, I went for a new burger of the month (featuring cherry pepper jam, bacon, spicy cheese sticks, and tortilla strips), and my dad has the winning 303 burger which featured chile rellano. Each one was very tasty and very filling! We all only ate half which my husband was very happy about as he got the leftovers that night :) It was our servers first shift after training and they did great. Energetic and personable. All in all, really happy I gave Cherry Cricket another chance. With it's huge outdoor space, expansive beer menu, tasty shakes (will try boozy option some day), and super friendly staff, I can see myself coming back here whenever the urge for a good burger strikes. read more

Once upon a time their Colorado Green Chile was mouthwateringly fabulous. My experience on Friday was not good. The pork was in tiny pieces and not abundant. The flavor was also lacking. I heard raving reviews of Cherry Cricket. So, of course I had to visit. Finally found parking, and a nice walk to location. Establishment is larger than expected with several separate dining areas. Wait staff were excellent, I think one for each dining area. He was pleasant and very attentive. I'm a Texas girl and used to extra napkins and straws normally being brought to table. Has to ask for them but no biggie. He was still great! Ordered the Cherry Cricket burger with Frings. I love homemade onion rings which he said they were but they didn't appear like it. None the less, the French fries were AWESOME. Burger was great as well and I loved the Pickles. Got dinner to go. Freshly prepared. Tried the chicken cesear wrap. I thought it was overpriced for the amount of food I got. We ordered our meals to go. I'm glad we did, because when I picked up the order, the person in front of me was told that it would be a 45-minute wait, and that just wouldn't do on a cold and snowy day! I can't speak to the ambiance of the restaurant because I was conveniently handed my order at the entrance of the restaurant. We shared chips, salsa, and guacamole as an appetizer, and the servings were fairly large. I built my own burger, complete with an impossible burger patty, avocado, and onion rings (and the lettuce and tomato all the burgers come with). I scarfed it all down quickly because I was hungry and the burger was delicious. I had been meaning to try cherry cricket for a while, and now I understand why it's been around for so long. Next time, I'll eat there in person and try something different. Glad it has veg options! read more

I love going to the Cherry Cricket and have patronized them many times with friends and family. There is something about a "dive" type of place that has so much history that I love. The food is good. I like the burgers and onion rings as well as the nachos. The Ruben is also good but they took the turkey Ruben off the menu much to my disappointment. Great burgers and a nice patio area! It was very busy when we visited on a Saturday evening, but the service was fast and efficient. We tried the veggie platter, blackened chicken Caesar wrap, the Cricket Royale burger, side of fries, and a build-your-own burger with American cheese and duxelles. The burgers were slightly overcooked but still juicy. The Caesar wrap great, lots of filling and chicken. We enjoyed the fries, which were crispy and well-seasoned. There were a lot of families there when we visited with lots of kids running around and screaming, making it pretty loud. Parking can be a bit difficult due to the area, so plan ahead for this.
